1.
Mārkaṇḍeya said: Seeing those two brothers, both fallen and possessing immeasurable might, Indrajit (Rāvaṇi) then bound them again with his boon-endowed arrows.

Bound by Indrajit with a net of arrows (śara-jāla) in battle, those two great heroes, those tiger-like men (puruṣa-vyāghra), appeared like two birds in a cage.

Seeing those two (Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa) fallen on the ground and covered by hundreds of arrows, Sugrīva then stood there, surrounding them with the other monkeys.

Then, having arrived at that place, Vibhīṣaṇa, who had accomplished his task, awakened those two heroes who had been revived by the arrow of wisdom.

Those two foremost men, having regained consciousness and freed from arrows, rose up. In an instant, both those great warriors (mahāratha) were also free from fatigue and weariness.

Then Vibhīṣaṇa, O Pārtha, seeing Rāma, the delight of the Ikṣvākus, free from fever, spoke these words with folded hands.

Rama, saying 'So be it', then respectfully received that water and performed the cleansing of his eyes. And the great-souled Lakshmana also did so.

O Yudhishthira, it happened just as Vibhishana had said; in an instant, their eyes became transcendent (atīndriya).

However, Indrajit, having performed his deed (karma), reported that act (karma) of his own (ātman) to his father and then quickly returned to the battlefield.

Lakshmana (Saumitri), steadfast in the counsel of Vibhishana, rushed towards Indrajit as he came, exceedingly enraged and again desirous of battle.

Then, Lakṣmaṇa, furious and having received a signal, struck Indrajit - who had not yet performed his morning rituals and was shining with victory - with arrows, desiring to kill him.

Then a battle arose between the two of them, each desiring to conquer the other. It was an exceedingly wonderful and astonishing battle, like that between Indra and Prahlāda.

Then the horses brought that chariot into Lanka. And Ravana saw that same chariot, now bereft of his son.
