Vaiśampāyana said: Then, Draupadī, the daughter of Drupada, spoke again to the ruler of Suvīra, her face throbbing, charming though afflicted by anger and passion, her eyes red with emotion, and her eyebrows moving up and down.

2.
O foolish one, why are you not ashamed to insult these glorious great charioteers, whose might is like sharp venom, who are comparable to the great Indra, devoted to their own duties (karma), and who stand firm even amidst hordes of Yakṣas and Rākṣasas?

3.
O Suvīra, while noble people do not declare anything praiseworthy as sin, these dog-like men (śvanarāḥ) bark in this manner at a forest-dweller or a householder, an ascetic (tapasvin) possessing complete knowledge.

But I believe that in this kind of assembly of Kṣatriyas, there is no one for you who would hold your hand and retrieve you today if you were to fall into the mouth of Pātāla (the underworld).

You, who aspire to conquer Dharmarāja (Dharmarāja), attempt to drive away an elephant in rut, as massive as a mountain peak, roaming the Himalayan foothills, just as a mahout drives it from its herd with a stick.

You foolishly pluck the eyelashes from the face of a greatly mighty, sleeping lion. However, when you finally see Bhīmasena enraged, you will flee after having struck him with your foot.

You strike with your fore-foot a greatly mighty, extremely fierce, and powerful lion, born and grown in mountain caves, while it is sleeping and formidable. You are the one who will subsequently confront the enraged and formidable Jishnu (Arjuna).

You, in your intoxication, tread on the tail-end of the two black serpents (Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna), who possess sharp venom and are two-tongued. You who wish to fight with these two later-born Pandavas, who are indeed the best among men.

Just as a bamboo, a plantain, or a reed bears fruit for its own destruction, not for its continued existence (ātman), similarly, you will take me, even while I am being protected by them, just as a female crab holds its eggs (which lead to her demise).

Jayadratha said: O Draupadi, I know this, and it is well known to me what kind of royal princes those (Pāṇḍavas) are. But certainly, by such threats, we cannot be frightened by you today.

11.
O Draupadi, we were all born in seventeen noble families, none of which are inferior. We are superior in the six qualities, and we consider the sons of Pāṇḍu to be devoid of them.

So, quickly mount an elephant or a chariot. Indeed, we cannot be swayed by mere words. Alternatively, speaking piteously, you may seek the favor of the king of Sauvīra (Jayadratha).

Draupadi said: "O mighty one, why here am I considered by the king of Sauvīra as if I were weak? I, who am well-known for my rescue from a great assault, would call the king of Sauvīra wretched."

She whose path the two Krishnas, Krishna and Arjuna, traverse as companions, seated firmly on a single chariot – even Indra could not take her away by any means. What then of any other wretched (kṛpaṇa) mere mortal?

When Arjuna (kirīṭī), the slayer of enemy heroes, standing on his chariot, destroys the morale of the adversaries, he will then enter your army in my presence, burning it like fire consumes dry grass in the hot season.

The terrible arrows, released from the bowstring and discharged from the Gāṇḍīva bow, emit a sound like thunder. Extremely swift, they strike Arjuna's hand and produce a most dreadful roar.

When Arjuna, whose Gāṇḍīva bow creates the roar of conch shells and palm-strikes, repeatedly unleashes torrents of great arrows - arrows released from the Gāṇḍīva, swift like flocks of birds - and places them in your chest, what then will happen to your mind?

Wretched one, upon seeing Bhīma, mace in hand, charging forward, and the two sons of Mādrī (Nakula and Sahadeva) attacking from all directions, spewing the venom of anger born of intolerance, you will suffer prolonged torment.

And just as I would never, in any way, transgress against my highly deserving husbands, not even in thought, by that truth, today I shall see you, subdued, being dragged away by the Pāṇḍavas.
