Those who were devoted to self-study (svādhyāya), constantly engaged in their duties, whose primary focus was their natural law (dharma), and whose vows were pure - these individuals, established in truth, were awaiting the return of that great warrior (mahāratha), the one whose vow was truth.

A great joy arose among those who had gathered there, due to that immeasurable one. And he (Arjuna), the crowned one (Kirīṭamālī), seeing them, rejoiced, praising the king (Yudhishthira).

The courageous sons of Pṛthā (Pāṇḍavas), having approached that charioteer of Indra (Matali) - whom Indra, the slayer of Namuci, had resorted to when he killed seven groups of Diti's sons - circumambulated him.

Exceedingly joyful, they (the Pāṇḍavas) offered Matali excellent hospitality, comparable to that shown to the king of gods (Indra). And the dwellers of heaven properly questioned them (the Pāṇḍavas) about everything, while the sons of the Kuru king (Pāṇḍavas) in turn questioned him (Matali).

That Matali, like a father congratulating his sons, also rejoiced with them (the Pāṇḍavas). And having instructed them, he departed in his chariot of unequalled splendor, returning to the presence of the lord of the three heavens (Indra).

But when that excellent divine charioteer (Matali) had departed, the great-souled son of Indra (Arjuna), the vanquisher of all enemies, being pleased, gave his beloved wife, the mother of Sutasoma (Draupadī), the very valuable, exquisitely formed, and sun-like ornaments that had been bestowed by Indra.

Then, having sat down among those best among the Kurus and those foremost Brahmins who shone like the sun and fire, he narrated everything exactly as it had occurred.

Thus, I directly acquired weapons from Indra, Vāyu, and Śiva. Likewise, the gods, along with Indra, were pleased with me because of my good conduct and concentration (samādhi).
