अर्जुन उवाच ।
किमागमनकृत्यं ते कौरव्यकुलनन्दिनि ।
मणिपूरपतेर्मातुस्तथैव च रणाजिरे ॥१॥
1. arjuna uvāca ,
kimāgamanakṛtyaṁ te kauravyakulanandini ,
maṇipūrapatermātustathaiva ca raṇājire.

1. Arjuna said, 'What is the purpose of your arrival, O delight of the Kuru family? And likewise, what is the purpose of the mother of the lord of Maṇipūra on the battlefield?'
कच्चित्कुशलकामासि राज्ञोऽस्य भुजगात्मजे ।
मम वा चञ्चलापाङ्गे कच्चित्त्वं शुभमिच्छसि ॥२॥
2. kaccitkuśalakāmāsi rājño'sya bhujagātmaje ,
mama vā cañcalāpāṅge kaccittvaṁ śubhamicchasi.
2. kaccit kuśala-kāmā asi rājñaḥ asya Bhujagātmaje
mama vā cañcalāpāṅge kaccit tvam śubham icchasi
2. he Bhujagātmaje kaccit asya rājñaḥ kuśala-kāmā asi

2. O daughter of the serpent (Bhujagātmajā), do you wish for the welfare of this king? Or, O you with restless glances, do you wish for my good?
कच्चित्ते पृथुलश्रोणि नाप्रियं शुभदर्शने ।
अकार्षमहमज्ञानादयं वा बभ्रुवाहनः ॥३॥
3. kaccitte pṛthulaśroṇi nāpriyaṁ śubhadarśane ,
akārṣamahamajñānādayaṁ vā babhruvāhanaḥ.
3. kaccit te pṛthulaśroṇi na apriyam śubhadarśane
akārṣam aham ajñānāt ayam vā babhruvāhanaḥ
3. pṛthulaśroṇi śubhadarśane kaccit aham ajñānāt

3. O lady with broad hips, O beautiful one, I hope that I have not, out of ignorance, done anything displeasing to you. Or perhaps it is this Babhruvahana who has?
कच्चिच्च राजपुत्री ते सपत्नी चैत्रवाहिनी ।
चित्राङ्गदा वरारोहा नापराध्यति किंचन ॥४॥
4. kaccicca rājaputrī te sapatnī caitravāhinī ,
citrāṅgadā varārohā nāparādhyati kiṁcana.
4. kaccit ca rājaputrī te sapatnī caitravāhinī
citrāṅgadā varārohā na aparādhyati kim cana
4. kaccit ca te rājaputrī sapatnī caitravāhinī

4. And I hope that your princess co-wife, Caitravahini, the fair-hipped Chitrangada, has not offended you in any way?
तमुवाचोरगपतेर्दुहिता प्रहसन्त्यथ ।
न मे त्वमपराद्धोऽसि न नृपो बभ्रुवाहनः ।
न जनित्री तथास्येयं मम या प्रेष्यवत्स्थिता ॥५॥
5. tamuvācoragapaterduhitā prahasantyatha ,
na me tvamaparāddho'si na nṛpo babhruvāhanaḥ ,
na janitrī tathāsyeyaṁ mama yā preṣyavatsthitā.
5. tam uvāca uragapateḥ duhitā prahasantī
atha na me tvam aparāddhaḥ asi na
nṛpaḥ babhruvāhanaḥ na janitrī tathā
asya iyam mama yā preṣyavat sthitā
5. atha prahasantī uragapateḥ duhitā tam
uvāca tvam me na aparāddhaḥ asi na
nṛpaḥ babhruvāhanaḥ na tathā iyam
asya janitrī yā mama preṣyavat sthitā
5. Then the daughter of the lord of serpents (Uloopi), smiling, said to him: 'You have not offended me, nor has King Babhruvahana, nor has his mother, who acts like a servant to me.'
श्रूयतां यद्यथा चेदं मया सर्वं विचेष्टितम् ।
न मे कोपस्त्वया कार्यः शिरसा त्वां प्रसादये ॥६॥
6. śrūyatāṁ yadyathā cedaṁ mayā sarvaṁ viceṣṭitam ,
na me kopastvayā kāryaḥ śirasā tvāṁ prasādaye.
6. śrūyatām yat yathā ca idam mayā sarvam viceṣṭitam
na me kopaḥ tvayā kāryaḥ śirasā tvām prasādaye
6. yat ca yathā idam sarvam mayā viceṣṭitam tat śrūyatām
tvayā me kopaḥ na kāryaḥ śirasā tvām prasādaye
6. Listen to all this that has been done by me and how. You should not be angry with me; I appease you with my head.
त्वत्प्रीत्यर्थं हि कौरव्य कृतमेतन्मयानघ ।
यत्तच्छृणु महाबाहो निखिलेन धनंजय ॥७॥
7. tvatprītyarthaṁ hi kauravya kṛtametanmayānagha ,
yattacchṛṇu mahābāho nikhilena dhanaṁjaya.
7. tvatprītyartham hi kauravya kṛtam etat mayā
anagha yat tat śṛṇu mahābāho nikhilena dhanañjaya
7. hi anagha kauravya tvatprītyartham etat mayā
kṛtam yat tat mahābāho dhanañjaya nikhilena śṛṇu
7. Indeed, O descendant of Kuru, this has been done by me for your satisfaction, O faultless one. Listen to that fully, O mighty-armed Dhanañjaya.
महाभारतयुद्धे यत्त्वया शांतनवो नृपः ।
अधर्मेण हतः पार्थ तस्यैषा निष्कृतिः कृता ॥८॥
8. mahābhāratayuddhe yattvayā śāṁtanavo nṛpaḥ ,
adharmeṇa hataḥ pārtha tasyaiṣā niṣkṛtiḥ kṛtā.
8. mahābhārata-yuddhe yat tvayā śāntanavaḥ nṛpaḥ
adharmeṇa hataḥ pārtha tasya eṣā niṣkṛtiḥ kṛtā
8. pārtha yat tvayā mahābhārata-yuddhe śāntanavaḥ nṛpaḥ adharmeṇa hataḥ,
tasya eṣā niṣkṛtiḥ kṛtā
8. Because in the Mahābhārata war, O Pārtha, the king, son of Śāntanu (Bhīṣma), was killed by you through unrighteousness (adharma), this expiation has been made for him.
न हि भीष्मस्त्वया वीर युध्यमानो निपातितः ।
शिखण्डिना तु संसक्तस्तमाश्रित्य हतस्त्वया ॥९॥
9. na hi bhīṣmastvayā vīra yudhyamāno nipātitaḥ ,
śikhaṇḍinā tu saṁsaktastamāśritya hatastvayā.
9. na hi bhīṣmaḥ tvayā vīra yudhyamānaḥ nipātitaḥ
śikhaṇḍinā tu saṃsaktaḥ tam āśritya hataḥ tvayā
9. hi vīra bhīṣmaḥ tvayā yudhyamānaḥ na nipātitaḥ
tu śikhaṇḍinā saṃsaktaḥ tam āśritya tvayā hataḥ
9. Indeed, O hero, Bhīṣma was not felled by you while he was directly fighting. Rather, you killed him by relying on Shikhaṇḍī, who was engaged with him (Bhīṣma).
तस्य शान्तिमकृत्वा तु त्यजेस्त्वं यदि जीवितम् ।
कर्मणा तेन पापेन पतेथा निरये ध्रुवम् ॥१०॥
10. tasya śāntimakṛtvā tu tyajestvaṁ yadi jīvitam ,
karmaṇā tena pāpena patethā niraye dhruvam.
10. tasya śāntim akṛtvā tu tyajet tvam yadi jīvitam
karmaṇā tena pāpena patethāḥ niraye dhruvam
10. yadi tvam tasya śāntim akṛtvā jīvitam tyajet
tu tena pāpena karmaṇā dhruvam niraye patethāḥ
10. If you abandon your life without having performed expiation for him (Bhīṣma), then by that sinful deed (karma) you would surely fall into hell.
एषा तु विहिता शान्तिः पुत्राद्यां प्राप्तवानसि ।
वसुभिर्वसुधापाल गङ्गया च महामते ॥११॥
11. eṣā tu vihitā śāntiḥ putrādyāṁ prāptavānasi ,
vasubhirvasudhāpāla gaṅgayā ca mahāmate.
11. eṣā tu vihitā śāntiḥ putrādyām prāptavān
asi vasubhiḥ vasudhāpāla gaṅgayā ca mahāmate
11. vasudhāpāla mahāmate eṣā putrādyām vihitā
śāntiḥ vasubhiḥ ca gaṅgayā tu prāptavān asi
11. O protector of the earth (vasudhāpāla), O great-minded one, you have indeed obtained this prescribed peace (śāntiḥ) concerning your sons and others, ordained by the Vasus and by Gaṅgā.
पुरा हि श्रुतमेतद्वै वसुभिः कथितं मया ।
गङ्गायास्तीरमागम्य हते शांतनवे नृपे ॥१२॥
12. purā hi śrutametadvai vasubhiḥ kathitaṁ mayā ,
gaṅgāyāstīramāgamya hate śāṁtanave nṛpe.
12. purā hi śrutam etad vai vasubhiḥ kathitam mayā
gaṅgāyāḥ tīram āgamya hate śāntanave nṛpe
12. śāntanave nṛpe hate gaṅgāyāḥ tīram āgamya
vasubhiḥ etad kathitam purā hi vai mayā śrutam
12. Indeed, this was heard by me long ago, spoken by the Vasus when they came to the bank of the Gaṅgā, after the king, the son of Śāntanu (Bhīṣma), had been slain.
आप्लुत्य देवा वसवः समेत्य च महानदीम् ।
इदमूचुर्वचो घोरं भागीरथ्या मते तदा ॥१३॥
13. āplutya devā vasavaḥ sametya ca mahānadīm ,
idamūcurvaco ghoraṁ bhāgīrathyā mate tadā.
13. āplutya devāḥ vasavaḥ sametya ca mahānadīm
idam ūcuḥ vacaḥ ghoram bhāgīrathyāḥ mate tadā
13. tadā devāḥ vasavaḥ mahānadīm āplutya ca sametya
bhāgīrathyāḥ mate idam ghoram vacaḥ ūcuḥ
13. Then, the gods, the Vasus, having bathed and gathered at the great river (Gaṅgā), spoke these dreadful words in the presence of Bhāgīrathī (Gaṅgā).
एष शांतनवो भीष्मो निहतः सव्यसाचिना ।
अयुध्यमानः संग्रामे संसक्तोऽन्येन भामिनि ॥१४॥
14. eṣa śāṁtanavo bhīṣmo nihataḥ savyasācinā ,
ayudhyamānaḥ saṁgrāme saṁsakto'nyena bhāmini.
14. eṣaḥ śāntanavaḥ bhīṣmaḥ nihataḥ savyasācinā
ayudhyamānaḥ saṅgrāme saṃsaktaḥ anyena bhāmini
14. bhāmini eṣaḥ śāntanavaḥ bhīṣmaḥ saṅgrāme
ayudhyamānaḥ anyena saṃsaktaḥ savyasācinā nihataḥ
14. O passionate one (bhāmini), this Bhīṣma, the son of Śāntanu, has been slain by Savyasācin (Arjuna) in battle, while he was not fighting, being engaged with another (Śikhaṇḍī).
तदनेनाभिषङ्गेण वयमप्यर्जुनं शुभे ।
शापेन योजयामेति तथास्त्विति च साब्रवीत् ॥१५॥
15. tadanenābhiṣaṅgeṇa vayamapyarjunaṁ śubhe ,
śāpena yojayāmeti tathāstviti ca sābravīt.
15. tat anena abhiṣaṅgeṇa vayam api arjunam śubhe
śāpena yojayāma iti tathā astu iti ca sā abravīt
15. tat anena abhiṣaṅgeṇa śubhe vayam api arjunam
śāpena yojayāma iti sā ca abravīt tathā astu iti
15. Therefore, because of this transgression, O auspicious one, we shall afflict Arjuna with a curse." She then said, "So be it."
तदहं पितुरावेद्य भृशं प्रव्यथितेन्द्रिया ।
अभवं स च तच्छ्रुत्वा विषादमगमत्परम् ॥१६॥
16. tadahaṁ piturāvedya bhṛśaṁ pravyathitendriyā ,
abhavaṁ sa ca tacchrutvā viṣādamagamatparam.
16. tat aham pituḥ āvedya bhṛśam pravyathitendriyā
abhavam saḥ ca tat śrutvā viṣādam agamat param
16. tat aham pituḥ āvedya bhṛśam pravyathitendriyā
abhavam ca saḥ tat śrutvā param viṣādam agamat
16. Therefore, after informing my father, my senses became greatly agitated. And upon hearing that, he (my father) fell into deep sorrow.
पिता तु मे वसून्गत्वा त्वदर्थं समयाचत ।
पुनः पुनः प्रसाद्यैनांस्त एनमिदमब्रुवन् ॥१७॥
17. pitā tu me vasūngatvā tvadarthaṁ samayācata ,
punaḥ punaḥ prasādyaināṁsta enamidamabruvan.
17. pitā tu me vasūn gatvā tvadartham samayācata
punaḥ punaḥ prasādya enān te enam idam abruvan
17. tu me pitā vasūn gatvā tvadartham samayācata
punaḥ punaḥ enān prasādya te enam idam abruvan
17. However, my father went to the Vasus and pleaded for your sake. After repeatedly propitiating them, they said this to him.
पुनस्तस्य महाभाग मणिपूरेश्वरो युवा ।
स एनं रणमध्यस्थं शरैः पातयिता भुवि ॥१८॥
18. punastasya mahābhāga maṇipūreśvaro yuvā ,
sa enaṁ raṇamadhyasthaṁ śaraiḥ pātayitā bhuvi.
18. punaḥ tasya mahābhāga maṇipūreśvaraḥ yuvā saḥ
enam raṇamadhyastham śaraiḥ pātayitā bhuvi
18. punaḥ mahābhāga tasya saḥ yuvā maṇipūreśvaraḥ
raṇamadhyastham enam śaraiḥ bhuvi pātayitā
18. Furthermore, regarding him, O greatly blessed one, the young lord of Maṇipūra will cause him, who stands in the thick of battle, to fall to the ground with arrows.
एवं कृते स नागेन्द्र मुक्तशापो भविष्यति ।
गच्छेति वसुभिश्चोक्तो मम चेदं शशंस सः ॥१९॥
19. evaṁ kṛte sa nāgendra muktaśāpo bhaviṣyati ,
gaccheti vasubhiścokto mama cedaṁ śaśaṁsa saḥ.
19. evam kṛte saḥ nāgendraḥ muktaśāpaḥ bhaviṣyati gaccha
iti vasubhiḥ ca uktaḥ mama ca idam śaśaṃsa saḥ
19. evam kṛte saḥ nāgendraḥ muktaśāpaḥ bhaviṣyati.
vasubhiḥ ca 'gaccha' iti uktaḥ saḥ mama ca idam śaśaṃsa.
19. When this is accomplished, that lord of serpents will be freed from the curse. Having been instructed 'Go!' by the Vasus, he then reported this to me.
तच्छ्रुत्वा त्वं मया तस्माच्छापादसि विमोक्षितः ।
न हि त्वां देवराजोऽपि समरेषु पराजयेत् ॥२०॥
20. tacchrutvā tvaṁ mayā tasmācchāpādasi vimokṣitaḥ ,
na hi tvāṁ devarājo'pi samareṣu parājayet.
20. tat śrutvā tvam mayā tasmāt śāpāt asi vimokṣitaḥ
na hi tvām devarājaḥ api samareṣu parājayet
20. tat śrutvā tvam mayā tasmāt śāpāt vimokṣitaḥ asi.
hi devarājaḥ api tvām samareṣu na parājayet.
20. Having heard that, you have been liberated by me from that curse. Indeed, not even the king of gods can defeat you in battles.
आत्मा पुत्रः स्मृतस्तस्मात्तेनेहासि पराजितः ।
नात्र दोषो मम मतः कथं वा मन्यसे विभो ॥२१॥
21. ātmā putraḥ smṛtastasmāttenehāsi parājitaḥ ,
nātra doṣo mama mataḥ kathaṁ vā manyase vibho.
21. ātmā putraḥ smṛtaḥ tasmāt tena iha asi parājitaḥ
na atra doṣaḥ mama mataḥ katham vā manyase vibho
21. ātmā putraḥ smṛtaḥ.
tasmāt tena iha parājitaḥ asi.
atra na mama doṣaḥ mataḥ.
vibho katham vā manyase?
21. The self (ātman) is regarded as a son; therefore, you have been conquered by this [son]. I do not consider this a fault here. How, O lord, do you perceive it?
इत्येवमुक्तो विजयः प्रसन्नात्माब्रवीदिदम् ।
सर्वं मे सुप्रियं देवि यदेतत्कृतवत्यसि ॥२२॥
22. ityevamukto vijayaḥ prasannātmābravīdidam ,
sarvaṁ me supriyaṁ devi yadetatkṛtavatyasi.
22. iti evam uktaḥ vijayaḥ prasannātmā abravīt idam
sarvam me supriyam devi yat etat kṛtavatī asi
22. iti evam uktaḥ prasannātmā vijayaḥ idam abravīt.
devi,
yat etat kṛtavatī asi,
sarvam me supriyam.
22. Thus addressed, Vijaya, with a joyful spirit, spoke this: 'O Goddess, everything that you have done is very dear to me.'
इत्युक्त्वाथाब्रवीत्पुत्रं मणिपूरेश्वरं जयः ।
चित्राङ्गदायाः शृण्वन्त्याः कौरव्यदुहितुस्तथा ॥२३॥
23. ityuktvāthābravītputraṁ maṇipūreśvaraṁ jayaḥ ,
citrāṅgadāyāḥ śṛṇvantyāḥ kauravyaduhitustathā.
23. iti uktvā atha abravīt putram maṇipūreśvaram jayaḥ
citrāṅgadāyāḥ śṛṇvantyāḥ kauravyaduhituḥ tathā
23. jayaḥ iti uktvā atha abravīt maṇipūreśvaram putram
citrāṅgadāyāḥ śṛṇvantyāḥ tathā kauravyaduhituḥ
23. Thus having spoken, Jayā (Arjuna) then addressed his son, the lord of Maṇipūra, while Citrāṅgadā was listening, and also a princess of the Kaurava lineage.
युधिष्ठिरस्याश्वमेधः परां चैत्रीं भविष्यति ।
तत्रागच्छेः सहामात्यो मातृभ्यां सहितो नृप ॥२४॥
24. yudhiṣṭhirasyāśvamedhaḥ parāṁ caitrīṁ bhaviṣyati ,
tatrāgaccheḥ sahāmātyo mātṛbhyāṁ sahito nṛpa.
24. yudhiṣṭhirasya aśvamedhaḥ parām caitrīm bhaviṣyati
tatra āgaccheḥ saha amātyaḥ mātṛbhyām sahitaḥ nṛpa
24. nṛpa yudhiṣṭhirasya aśvamedhaḥ parām caitrīm bhaviṣyati
tatra amātyaḥ saha mātṛbhyām sahitaḥ āgaccheḥ
24. O king, Yudhiṣṭhira's horse-ritual (yajña) will take place in the coming Caitrī (full moon of the Caitra month). You should come there with your ministers, accompanied by your two mothers.
इत्येवमुक्तः पार्थेन स राजा बभ्रुवाहनः ।
उवाच पितरं धीमानिदमस्राविलेक्षणः ॥२५॥
25. ityevamuktaḥ pārthena sa rājā babhruvāhanaḥ ,
uvāca pitaraṁ dhīmānidamasrāvilekṣaṇaḥ.
25. iti evam uktaḥ pārthena sa rājā babhruvāhanaḥ
uvāca pitaram dhīmān idam asrāvilakṣaṇaḥ
25. pārthena iti evam uktaḥ sa dhīmān rājā
babhruvāhanaḥ asrāvilakṣaṇaḥ pitaram idam uvāca
25. The intelligent King Babhruvāhana, thus addressed by Pārtha (Arjuna), spoke this to his father with tearful eyes.
उपयास्यामि धर्मज्ञ भवतः शासनादहम् ।
अश्वमेधे महायज्ञे द्विजातिपरिवेषकः ॥२६॥
26. upayāsyāmi dharmajña bhavataḥ śāsanādaham ,
aśvamedhe mahāyajñe dvijātipariveṣakaḥ.
26. upayāsyāmi dharmajña bhavataḥ śāsanāt aham
aśvamedhe mahāyajñe dvijātipariveṣakaḥ
26. dharmajña aham bhavataḥ śāsanāt
dvijātipariveṣakaḥ aśvamedhe mahāyajñe upayāsyāmi
26. O knower of natural law (dharma), I shall attend the great horse-ritual (yajña) by your command, serving the twice-born.
मम त्वनुग्रहार्थाय प्रविशस्व पुरं स्वकम् ।
भार्याभ्यां सह शत्रुघ्न मा भूत्तेऽत्र विचारणा ॥२७॥
27. mama tvanugrahārthāya praviśasva puraṁ svakam ,
bhāryābhyāṁ saha śatrughna mā bhūtte'tra vicāraṇā.
27. mama tu anugraha arthāya praviśasva puram svakam
bhāryābhyām saha śatrughna mā bhūt te atra vicāraṇā
27. śatrughna mama anugraha arthāya tu svakam puram
bhāryābhyām saha praviśasva te atra vicāraṇā mā bhūt
27. O Shatrughna, for the sake of showing me favor, please enter your own city with your two wives. Let there be no hesitation on your part in this matter.
उषित्वेह विशल्यस्त्वं सुखं स्वे वेश्मनि प्रभो ।
पुनरश्वानुगमनं कर्तासि जयतां वर ॥२८॥
28. uṣitveha viśalyastvaṁ sukhaṁ sve veśmani prabho ,
punaraśvānugamanaṁ kartāsi jayatāṁ vara.
28. uṣitvā iha viśalyaḥ tvam sukham sve veśmani prabho
punaḥ aśva anugamanam kartā asi jayatām vara
28. prabho jayatām vara tvam iha viśalyaḥ sve veśmani
sukham uṣitvā punaḥ aśva anugamanam kartā asi
28. O Lord, O best among the victorious, having stayed here comfortably in your own home, relieved of your burdens, you will again follow the horse.
इत्युक्तः स तु पुत्रेण तदा वानरकेतनः ।
स्मयन्प्रोवाच कौन्तेयस्तदा चित्राङ्गदासुतम् ॥२९॥
29. ityuktaḥ sa tu putreṇa tadā vānaraketanaḥ ,
smayanprovāca kaunteyastadā citrāṅgadāsutam.
29. iti uktaḥ saḥ tu putreṇa tadā vānaraketanaḥ
smayan provāca kaunteyaḥ tadā citrāṅgadāsutam
29. iti putreṇa uktaḥ saḥ vānaraketanaḥ kaunteyaḥ
tu tadā smayan tadā citrāṅgadāsutam provāca
29. Thus addressed by his son, Arjuna (whose banner bears a monkey, the son of Kunti) then, smiling, spoke to the son of Citrāṅgadā.
विदितं ते महाबाहो यथा दीक्षां चराम्यहम् ।
न स तावत्प्रवेक्ष्यामि पुरं ते पृथुलोचन ॥३०॥
30. viditaṁ te mahābāho yathā dīkṣāṁ carāmyaham ,
na sa tāvatpravekṣyāmi puraṁ te pṛthulocana.
30. viditam te mahābāho yathā dīkṣām carāmi aham
na saḥ tāvat pravekṣyāmi puram te pṛthulocana
30. mahābāho yathā aham dīkṣām carāmi te viditam
pṛthulocana saḥ aham tāvat te puram na pravekṣyāmi
30. O mighty-armed one, you know how I observe my solemn vow (dīkṣā). Therefore, I will not immediately enter your city, O broad-eyed one.
यथाकामं प्रयात्येष यज्ञियश्च तुरंगमः ।
स्वस्ति तेऽस्तु गमिष्यामि न स्थानं विद्यते मम ॥३१॥
31. yathākāmaṁ prayātyeṣa yajñiyaśca turaṁgamaḥ ,
svasti te'stu gamiṣyāmi na sthānaṁ vidyate mama.

svasti te astu gamiṣyāmi na sthānam vidyate mama

mama sthānam na vidyate; gamiṣyāmi.
31. This horse, suitable for the Vedic ritual (yajña), goes as it pleases. May well-being be upon you; I will go, as there is no place for me here.
स तत्र विधिवत्तेन पूजितः पाकशासनिः ।
भार्याभ्यामभ्यनुज्ञातः प्रायाद्भरतसत्तमः ॥३२॥
32. sa tatra vidhivattena pūjitaḥ pākaśāsaniḥ ,
bhāryābhyāmabhyanujñātaḥ prāyādbharatasattamaḥ.
32. saḥ tatra vidhivat tena pūjitaḥ pākaśāsaniḥ
bhāryābhyām abhyanujñātaḥ prāyāt bharatasattamaḥ
32. tatra tena vidhivat pūjitaḥ saḥ pākaśāsaniḥ bharatasattamaḥ bhāryābhyām abhyanujñātaḥ prāyāt.
32. Then, that best of the Bhāratas (Arjuna), son of Indra, having been properly honored there by him and given leave by his two wives, departed.
