वैशंपायन उवाच ।
श्रुत्वा धर्मानशेषेण पावनानि च सर्वशः ।
युधिष्ठिरः शांतनवं पुनरेवाभ्यभाषत ॥१॥

1. Vaiśaṃpāyana said: Having heard all the purifying natural laws (dharma) completely, Yudhiṣṭhira again addressed the son of Śāntanu (Bhīṣma).
किमेकं दैवतं लोके किं वाप्येकं परायणम् ।
स्तुवन्तः कं कमर्चन्तः प्राप्नुयुर्मानवाः शुभम् ॥२॥
2. kimekaṁ daivataṁ loke kiṁ vāpyekaṁ parāyaṇam ,
stuvantaḥ kaṁ kamarcantaḥ prāpnuyurmānavāḥ śubham.

2. Who is the one deity in the world, and who is the one supreme refuge? By praising whom, and by worshipping whom, may human beings attain auspiciousness?
को धर्मः सर्वधर्माणां भवतः परमो मतः ।
किं जपन्मुच्यते जन्तुर्जन्मसंसारबन्धनात् ॥३॥
3. ko dharmaḥ sarvadharmāṇāṁ bhavataḥ paramo mataḥ ,
kiṁ japanmucyate janturjanmasaṁsārabandhanāt.

3. What natural law (dharma) is considered by you as the supreme among all natural laws? By chanting what is a living being liberated from the bondage of birth and the cycle of existence (saṃsāra)?
भीष्म उवाच ।
जगत्प्रभुं देवदेवमनन्तं पुरुषोत्तमम् ।
स्तुवन्नामसहस्रेण पुरुषः सततोत्थितः ॥४॥
4. bhīṣma uvāca ,
jagatprabhuṁ devadevamanantaṁ puruṣottamam ,
stuvannāmasahasreṇa puruṣaḥ satatotthitaḥ.

4. Bhishma said: A person, ever vigilant, praising the Lord of the universe, the God of gods, the endless one, the supreme (puruṣa) by means of a thousand names...
तमेव चार्चयन्नित्यं भक्त्या पुरुषमव्ययम् ।
ध्यायन्स्तुवन्नमस्यंश्च यजमानस्तमेव च ॥५॥
5. tameva cārcayannityaṁ bhaktyā puruṣamavyayam ,
dhyāyanstuvannamasyaṁśca yajamānastameva ca.
5. tam eva ca arcayan nityam bhaktyā puruṣam avyayam
dhyāyan stuvan namasyan ca yajamānaḥ tam eva ca
5. ca nityam tam eva avyayam puruṣam bhaktyā arcayan

5. ...and constantly worshipping Him, the immutable (puruṣa), with devotion (bhakti); meditating, praising, bowing down, and performing Vedic rituals as a worshipper (yajamāna) to Him alone.
अनादिनिधनं विष्णुं सर्वलोकमहेश्वरम् ।
लोकाध्यक्षं स्तुवन्नित्यं सर्वदुःखातिगो भवेत् ॥६॥
6. anādinidhanaṁ viṣṇuṁ sarvalokamaheśvaram ,
lokādhyakṣaṁ stuvannityaṁ sarvaduḥkhātigo bhavet.

6. Constantly praising Viṣṇu, who is without beginning or end, the great Lord of all worlds, and the overseer of the worlds, one will transcend all sorrow.
ब्रह्मण्यं सर्वधर्मज्ञं लोकानां कीर्तिवर्धनम् ।
लोकनाथं महद्भूतं सर्वभूतभवोद्भवम् ॥७॥
7. brahmaṇyaṁ sarvadharmajñaṁ lokānāṁ kīrtivardhanam ,
lokanāthaṁ mahadbhūtaṁ sarvabhūtabhavodbhavam.
7. brahmaṇyam sarvadharmamjñam lokānām kīrtivardhanam
lokanātham mahatbhūtam sarvabhūtabhavodbhavam

7. He is devoted to the Absolute (brahman), fully conversant with all principles of natural law (dharma), and enhances the glory of the worlds. He is the lord of the worlds, a magnificent being, and the source of the generation of all beings.
एष मे सर्वधर्माणां धर्मोऽधिकतमो मतः ।
यद्भक्त्या पुण्डरीकाक्षं स्तवैरर्चेन्नरः सदा ॥८॥
8. eṣa me sarvadharmāṇāṁ dharmo'dhikatamo mataḥ ,
yadbhaktyā puṇḍarīkākṣaṁ stavairarcennaraḥ sadā.
8. eṣaḥ me sarvadharmāṇām dharmaḥ adhikatamaḥ mataḥ
yat bhaktyā puṇḍarīkākṣam stavaiḥ archet naraḥ sadā
8. eṣaḥ me sarvadharmāṇām adhikatamaḥ dharmaḥ mataḥ
yat bhaktyā naraḥ puṇḍarīkākṣam stavaiḥ sadā archet
8. This, in my view, is the most supreme natural law (dharma) among all principles: that a person should always worship the lotus-eyed one with hymns, motivated by devotion (bhakti).
परमं यो महत्तेजः परमं यो महत्तपः ।
परमं यो महद्ब्रह्म परमं यः परायणम् ॥९॥
9. paramaṁ yo mahattejaḥ paramaṁ yo mahattapaḥ ,
paramaṁ yo mahadbrahma paramaṁ yaḥ parāyaṇam.
9. paramam yaḥ mahat tejaḥ paramam yaḥ mahat tapaḥ
paramam yaḥ mahat brahma paramam yaḥ parāyaṇam
9. yaḥ paramam mahat tejaḥ yaḥ paramam mahat tapaḥ

9. He who is the supreme great splendor, he who is the supreme great spiritual austerity (tapas), he who is the supreme great Absolute (brahman), and he who is the supreme ultimate goal.
पवित्राणां पवित्रं यो मङ्गलानां च मङ्गलम् ।
दैवतं देवतानां च भूतानां योऽव्ययः पिता ॥१०॥
10. pavitrāṇāṁ pavitraṁ yo maṅgalānāṁ ca maṅgalam ,
daivataṁ devatānāṁ ca bhūtānāṁ yo'vyayaḥ pitā.
10. pavitrāṇām pavitram yaḥ maṅgalānām ca maṅgalam
daivatam devatānām ca bhūtānām yaḥ avyayaḥ pitā
10. yaḥ pavitrāṇām pavitram ca maṅgalānām maṅgalam
ca devatānām daivatam yaḥ bhūtānām avyayaḥ pitā
10. He who is the most sacred among the sacred, and the most auspicious among the auspicious. He is the very deity of the gods, and the imperishable father of all beings.
यतः सर्वाणि भूतानि भवन्त्यादियुगागमे ।
यस्मिंश्च प्रलयं यान्ति पुनरेव युगक्षये ॥११॥
11. yataḥ sarvāṇi bhūtāni bhavantyādiyugāgame ,
yasmiṁśca pralayaṁ yānti punareva yugakṣaye.
11. yataḥ sarvāṇi bhūtāni bhavanti ādiyugāgame
yasmin ca pralayam yānti punaḥ eva yugakṣaye
11. yataḥ ādiyugāgame sarvāṇi bhūtāni bhavanti

11. From whom all beings come into existence at the beginning of an eon, and into whom they merge again at the destruction of an eon.
तस्य लोकप्रधानस्य जगन्नाथस्य भूपते ।
विष्णोर्नामसहस्रं मे शृणु पापभयापहम् ॥१२॥
12. tasya lokapradhānasya jagannāthasya bhūpate ,
viṣṇornāmasahasraṁ me śṛṇu pāpabhayāpaham.

viṣṇoḥ nāmasahasram me śṛṇu pāpabhayāpaham
12. bhūpate me tasya lokapradhānasya jagannāthasya

12. O King (bhūpate), listen from me to the thousand names of that chief of the worlds, the Lord of the universe, Viṣṇu, which remove the fear of sin.
यानि नामानि गौणानि विख्यातानि महात्मनः ।
ऋषिभिः परिगीतानि तानि वक्ष्यामि भूतये ॥१३॥
13. yāni nāmāni gauṇāni vikhyātāni mahātmanaḥ ,
ṛṣibhiḥ parigītāni tāni vakṣyāmi bhūtaye.
13. yāni nāmāni gauṇāni vikhyātāni mahātmanaḥ
ṛṣibhiḥ parigītāni tāni vakṣyāmi bhūtaye
13. tāni nāmāni yāni mahātmanaḥ gauṇāni vikhyātāni

13. I will recount those names which are well-known, attributive qualities of the great soul (mahātman), and have been extensively sung by the sages, for the sake of welfare.
विश्वं विष्णुर्वषट्कारो भूतभव्यभवत्प्रभुः ।
भूतकृद्भूतभृद्भावो भूतात्मा भूतभावनः ॥१४॥
14. viśvaṁ viṣṇurvaṣaṭkāro bhūtabhavyabhavatprabhuḥ ,
bhūtakṛdbhūtabhṛdbhāvo bhūtātmā bhūtabhāvanaḥ.
14. viśvam viṣṇuḥ vaṣaṭkāraḥ bhūtabhavyabhavatprabhuḥ
bhūtakṛt bhūtabhṛt bhāvaḥ bhūtātmā bhūtabhāvanaḥ
14. viśvam viṣṇuḥ vaṣaṭkāraḥ bhūtabhavyabhavatprabhuḥ
bhūtakṛt bhūtabhṛt bhāvaḥ bhūtātmā bhūtabhāvanaḥ
14. He is the universe (viśvam), Viṣṇu, the utterer of 'vaṣaṭ' (vaṣaṭkāra), the lord of past, future, and present beings (bhūtabhavyabhavatprabhu). He is the creator of beings (bhūtakṛt), the sustainer of beings (bhūtabhṛt), existence itself (bhāva), the self (ātman) of all beings (bhūtātman), and the producer of beings (bhūtabhāvana).
पूतात्मा परमात्मा च मुक्तानां परमा गतिः ।
अव्ययः पुरुषः साक्षी क्षेत्रज्ञोऽक्षर एव च ॥१५॥
15. pūtātmā paramātmā ca muktānāṁ paramā gatiḥ ,
avyayaḥ puruṣaḥ sākṣī kṣetrajño'kṣara eva ca.
15. pūtātmā paramātmā ca muktānām paramā gatiḥ
avyayaḥ puruṣaḥ sākṣī kṣetrajñaḥ akṣaraḥ eva ca
15. pūtātmā paramātmā ca muktānām paramā gatiḥ
avyayaḥ puruṣaḥ sākṣī kṣetrajñaḥ akṣaraḥ eva ca
15. He is the one whose being is purified, the supreme self (paramātmā), and the ultimate destination for those who are liberated. He is the immutable (avyayaḥ) supreme person (puruṣa), the witness, the knower of the field, and indeed the indestructible one.
योगो योगविदां नेता प्रधानपुरुषेश्वरः ।
नारसिंहवपुः श्रीमान्केशवः पुरुषोत्तमः ॥१६॥
16. yogo yogavidāṁ netā pradhānapuruṣeśvaraḥ ,
nārasiṁhavapuḥ śrīmānkeśavaḥ puruṣottamaḥ.
16. yogaḥ yogavidām netā pradhānapuruṣeśvaraḥ
nārasiḿhavapuḥ śrīmān keśavaḥ puruṣottamaḥ
16. yogaḥ yogavidām netā pradhānapuruṣeśvaraḥ

16. He embodies spiritual discipline, is the leader of those who understand spiritual discipline (yoga), and is the lord of both primordial nature (pradhāna) and the cosmic person (puruṣa). He has the form of Narasiṃha, is glorious, is Keśava, and is the supreme person.
सर्वः शर्वः शिवः स्थाणुर्भूतादिर्निधिरव्ययः ।
संभवो भावनो भर्ता प्रभवः प्रभुरीश्वरः ॥१७॥
17. sarvaḥ śarvaḥ śivaḥ sthāṇurbhūtādirnidhiravyayaḥ ,
saṁbhavo bhāvano bhartā prabhavaḥ prabhurīśvaraḥ.
17. sarvaḥ śarvaḥ śivaḥ sthāṇuḥ bhūtādiḥ nidhiḥ avyayaḥ
sambhavaḥ bhāvanaḥ bhartā prabhavaḥ prabhuḥ īśvaraḥ
17. sarvaḥ śarvaḥ śivaḥ sthāṇuḥ bhūtādiḥ nidhiḥ avyayaḥ
sambhavaḥ bhāvanaḥ bhartā prabhavaḥ prabhuḥ īśvaraḥ
17. He is the all-encompassing, Śarva, Śiva (the auspicious one), the steadfast (sthāṇu). He is the origin of all beings, the imperishable treasure. He is the source of all existence, the sustainer, the maintainer, the mighty origin, the lord, and the supreme controller.
स्वयंभूः शंभुरादित्यः पुष्कराक्षो महास्वनः ।
अनादिनिधनो धाता विधाता धातुरुत्तमः ॥१८॥
18. svayaṁbhūḥ śaṁbhurādityaḥ puṣkarākṣo mahāsvanaḥ ,
anādinidhano dhātā vidhātā dhāturuttamaḥ.
18. svayambhūḥ śambhuḥ ādityaḥ puṣkarākṣaḥ mahāsvanaḥ
anādinidhanaḥ dhātā vidhātā dhātuḥ uttamaḥ
18. svayambhūḥ śambhuḥ ādityaḥ puṣkarākṣaḥ mahāsvanaḥ
anādinidhanaḥ dhātā vidhātā dhātuḥ uttamaḥ
18. He is the self-existent (svayambhūḥ), the benevolent (śambhuḥ), and the sun-god (ādityaḥ). He is lotus-eyed, possesses a mighty voice, and is without beginning or end. He is the creator, the ordainer, and the supreme sustainer.
अप्रमेयो हृषीकेशः पद्मनाभोऽमरप्रभुः ।
विश्वकर्मा मनुस्त्वष्टा स्थविष्ठः स्थविरो ध्रुवः ॥१९॥
19. aprameyo hṛṣīkeśaḥ padmanābho'maraprabhuḥ ,
viśvakarmā manustvaṣṭā sthaviṣṭhaḥ sthaviro dhruvaḥ.
19. aprameyaḥ hṛṣīkeśaḥ padmanābhaḥ amara-prabhuḥ
viśvakarmā manuḥ tvaṣṭā sthaviṣṭhaḥ sthaviraḥ dhruvaḥ
19. aprameyaḥ hṛṣīkeśaḥ padmanābhaḥ amara-prabhuḥ
viśvakarmā manuḥ tvaṣṭā sthaviṣṭhaḥ sthaviraḥ dhruvaḥ
19. He is immeasurable, the master of the senses (Hṛṣīkeśa), whose navel is like a lotus (Padmanābha), and who is the lord of the immortals. He is the architect of the universe (Viśvakarmā), the progenitor of mankind (Manu), the divine fashioner (Tvaṣṭā), the most massive, the ancient, and the constant.
अग्राह्यः शाश्वतः कृष्णो लोहिताक्षः प्रतर्दनः ।
प्रभूतस्त्रिककुब्धाम पवित्रं मङ्गलं परम् ॥२०॥
20. agrāhyaḥ śāśvataḥ kṛṣṇo lohitākṣaḥ pratardanaḥ ,
prabhūtastrikakubdhāma pavitraṁ maṅgalaṁ param.
20. agrāhyaḥ śāśvataḥ kṛṣṇaḥ lohitākṣaḥ pratardanaḥ
prabhūtaḥ trikakubdhāma pavitram maṅgalam param
20. agrāhyaḥ śāśvataḥ kṛṣṇaḥ lohitākṣaḥ pratardanaḥ
prabhūtaḥ trikakubdhāma pavitram maṅgalam param
20. He is ungraspable, eternal, dark-complexioned (Kṛṣṇa), red-eyed, and the destroyer (Pratardana). He is the abundant, the abode of the three peaks (or directions), the sacred, the auspicious, and the supreme.
ईशानः प्राणदः प्राणो ज्येष्ठः श्रेष्ठः प्रजापतिः ।
हिरण्यगर्भो भूगर्भो माधवो मधुसूदनः ॥२१॥
21. īśānaḥ prāṇadaḥ prāṇo jyeṣṭhaḥ śreṣṭhaḥ prajāpatiḥ ,
hiraṇyagarbho bhūgarbho mādhavo madhusūdanaḥ.

21. He is the ruler, the giver of life, life (prāṇa) itself, the eldest, the most excellent, and the lord of creatures (prajāpati). He is the golden-wombed creator (Hiraṇyagarbha), the one who holds the earth within, the consort of Lakshmi (Mādhava), and the slayer of the demon Madhu (Madhusūdana).
ईश्वरो विक्रमी धन्वी मेधावी विक्रमः क्रमः ।
अनुत्तमो दुराधर्षः कृतज्ञः कृतिरात्मवान् ॥२२॥
22. īśvaro vikramī dhanvī medhāvī vikramaḥ kramaḥ ,
anuttamo durādharṣaḥ kṛtajñaḥ kṛtirātmavān.

anuttamaḥ durādharṣaḥ kṛtajñaḥ kṛtiḥ ātmavān

22. He is the lord (īśvara), valorous, armed with a bow, intelligent, the very stride (vikrama) of power and cosmic order (krama). He is unsurpassed, unconquerable, appreciative of good deeds, the essence of action (kṛti), and self-possessed (ātmavān).
सुरेशः शरणं शर्म विश्वरेताः प्रजाभवः ।
अहः संवत्सरो व्यालः प्रत्ययः सर्वदर्शनः ॥२३॥
23. sureśaḥ śaraṇaṁ śarma viśvaretāḥ prajābhavaḥ ,
ahaḥ saṁvatsaro vyālaḥ pratyayaḥ sarvadarśanaḥ.
23. sureśaḥ śaraṇam śarma viśvaretāḥ prajābhavaḥ
ahaḥ saṃvatsaraḥ vyālaḥ pratyayaḥ sarvadarśanaḥ
23. sureśaḥ śaraṇam śarma viśvaretāḥ prajābhavaḥ
ahaḥ saṃvatsaraḥ vyālaḥ pratyayaḥ sarvadarśanaḥ
23. The Lord of the gods, the ultimate refuge, the embodiment of happiness, the one who is the seed of the universe, the origin of all beings. He is the day, the year, the formidable one, the trust, and the one who sees everything.
अजः सर्वेश्वरः सिद्धः सिद्धिः सर्वादिरच्युतः ।
वृषाकपिरमेयात्मा सर्वयोगविनिःसृतः ॥२४॥
24. ajaḥ sarveśvaraḥ siddhaḥ siddhiḥ sarvādiracyutaḥ ,
vṛṣākapirameyātmā sarvayogaviniḥsṛtaḥ.
24. ajaḥ sarveśvaraḥ siddhaḥ siddhiḥ sarvādiḥ
acyutaḥ vṛṣākapiḥ ameyātmā sarvayogaviniḥsṛtaḥ
24. ajaḥ sarveśvaraḥ siddhaḥ siddhiḥ sarvādiḥ
acyutaḥ vṛṣākapiḥ ameyātmā sarvayogaviniḥsṛtaḥ
24. The unborn, the Lord of all, the perfected one, the embodiment of perfection (siddhi), the beginning of all, the infallible one (acyuta). He is Vṛṣākapi, whose self (ātman) is immeasurable, and who is completely detached from all forms of spiritual discipline (yoga).
वसुर्वसुमनाः सत्यः समात्मा संमितः समः ।
अमोघः पुण्डरीकाक्षो वृषकर्मा वृषाकृतिः ॥२५॥
25. vasurvasumanāḥ satyaḥ samātmā saṁmitaḥ samaḥ ,
amoghaḥ puṇḍarīkākṣo vṛṣakarmā vṛṣākṛtiḥ.
25. vasuḥ vasumanāḥ satyaḥ samātmā saṃmitaḥ samaḥ
amoghaḥ puṇḍarīkākṣaḥ vṛṣakarmā vṛṣākṛtiḥ

amoghaḥ puṇḍarīkākṣaḥ vṛṣakarmā vṛṣākṛtiḥ
25. The bestower of wealth, the good-minded one, the truth, whose self (ātman) is equal to all, the measured one, the equal. The unfailing, the lotus-eyed, whose actions are righteous (dharma), and whose form is the embodiment of righteousness (dharma).
रुद्रो बहुशिरा बभ्रुर्विश्वयोनिः शुचिश्रवाः ।
अमृतः शाश्वतः स्थाणुर्वरारोहो महातपाः ॥२६॥
26. rudro bahuśirā babhrurviśvayoniḥ śuciśravāḥ ,
amṛtaḥ śāśvataḥ sthāṇurvarāroho mahātapāḥ.
26. rudraḥ bahuśirāḥ babhruḥ viśvayoniḥ śuciśravāḥ
amṛtaḥ śāśvataḥ sthāṇuḥ varārohaḥ mahātapaḥ
26. rudraḥ bahuśirāḥ babhruḥ viśvayoniḥ śuciśravāḥ
amṛtaḥ śāśvataḥ sthāṇuḥ varārohaḥ mahātapaḥ
26. Rudra (the Remover of pain), the many-headed, the supporter, the source of the universe, of pure renown. The immortal, the eternal, the immovable pillar, the one of excellent ascent (or supreme destination), and the great ascetic.
सर्वगः सर्वविद्भानुर्विष्वक्सेनो जनार्दनः ।
वेदो वेदविदव्यङ्गो वेदाङ्गो वेदवित्कविः ॥२७॥
27. sarvagaḥ sarvavidbhānurviṣvakseno janārdanaḥ ,
vedo vedavidavyaṅgo vedāṅgo vedavitkaviḥ.
27. sarvagaḥ sarvavit bhānuḥ viṣvaksenaḥ janārdanaḥ
vedaḥ vedavit avyaṅgaḥ vedāṅgaḥ vedavit kaviḥ
27. He is the omnipresent one, the knower of all, the radiant one, the commander of all forces (viṣvaksena), and the dispeller of suffering (janārdana). He is the embodiment of sacred knowledge, the knower of the Vedas, the flawless one, whose limbs are the Vedic disciplines, the ultimate master of Vedic knowledge, and the omniscient seer.
लोकाध्यक्षः सुराध्यक्षो धर्माध्यक्षः कृताकृतः ।
चतुरात्मा चतुर्व्यूहश्चतुर्दंष्ट्रश्चतुर्भुजः ॥२८॥
28. lokādhyakṣaḥ surādhyakṣo dharmādhyakṣaḥ kṛtākṛtaḥ ,
caturātmā caturvyūhaścaturdaṁṣṭraścaturbhujaḥ.

28. He is the superintendent of the worlds, the chief of the gods, the overseer of natural law (dharma), and both the created and the uncreated. He possesses a fourfold self, manifests in four forms, has four tusks, and four arms.
भ्राजिष्णुर्भोजनं भोक्ता सहिष्णुर्जगदादिजः ।
अनघो विजयो जेता विश्वयोनिः पुनर्वसुः ॥२९॥
29. bhrājiṣṇurbhojanaṁ bhoktā sahiṣṇurjagadādijaḥ ,
anagho vijayo jetā viśvayoniḥ punarvasuḥ.

29. He is the resplendent one, the sustenance, the enjoyer, the forbearing one, and the primordial one, born at the universe's dawn. He is sinless, victorious, the conqueror, the origin of the universe, and one who continually dwells (in all beings).
उपेन्द्रो वामनः प्रांशुरमोघः शुचिरूर्जितः ।
अतीन्द्रः संग्रहः सर्गो धृतात्मा नियमो यमः ॥३०॥
30. upendro vāmanaḥ prāṁśuramoghaḥ śucirūrjitaḥ ,
atīndraḥ saṁgrahaḥ sargo dhṛtātmā niyamo yamaḥ.

30. He is Upendra (the younger brother of Indra), Vāmana (the dwarf incarnation), the tall one, the unfailing one, the pure, and the energetic one. He is beyond Indra, the gatherer, the creator, the one whose inner self (ātman) is controlled, the principle of regularity, and the enforcer of discipline.
वेद्यो वैद्यः सदायोगी वीरहा माधवो मधुः ।
अतीन्द्रियो महामायो महोत्साहो महाबलः ॥३१॥
31. vedyo vaidyaḥ sadāyogī vīrahā mādhavo madhuḥ ,
atīndriyo mahāmāyo mahotsāho mahābalaḥ.

31. He is the object of knowledge and the supreme knower, ever-united in (yoga), the destroyer of powerful adversaries, the Lord of Lakṣmī (mādhava), and the essence of sweetness. He is beyond the senses, the possessor of great creative power (māyā), endowed with immense enthusiasm, and of great strength.
महाबुद्धिर्महावीर्यो महाशक्तिर्महाद्युतिः ।
अनिर्देश्यवपुः श्रीमानमेयात्मा महाद्रिधृक् ॥३२॥
32. mahābuddhirmahāvīryo mahāśaktirmahādyutiḥ ,
anirdeśyavapuḥ śrīmānameyātmā mahādridhṛk.

32. He possesses great intellect, immense valor, supreme power (śakti), and magnificent radiance. His form is indescribable; he is endowed with splendor. His true self (ātman) is immeasurable, and he is the upholder of great mountains.
महेष्वासो महीभर्ता श्रीनिवासः सतां गतिः ।
अनिरुद्धः सुरानन्दो गोविन्दो गोविदां पतिः ॥३३॥
33. maheṣvāso mahībhartā śrīnivāsaḥ satāṁ gatiḥ ,
aniruddhaḥ surānando govindo govidāṁ patiḥ.

33. He wields a great bow; he is the sustainer of the earth, the abode of prosperity (śrīnivāsa), and the ultimate refuge for the righteous. He is irresistible (Aniruddha), the delight of the gods, the protector of the earth (Govinda), and the master of those who are knowledgeable.
मरीचिर्दमनो हंसः सुपर्णो भुजगोत्तमः ।
हिरण्यनाभः सुतपाः पद्मनाभः प्रजापतिः ॥३४॥
34. marīcirdamano haṁsaḥ suparṇo bhujagottamaḥ ,
hiraṇyanābhaḥ sutapāḥ padmanābhaḥ prajāpatiḥ.

34. He is a brilliant ray of light (Marīci), the subduer, the celestial swan (haṃsa), the beautiful-winged (Suparṇa), and the foremost among serpents. He has a golden navel, performs excellent austerities (tapas), possesses a lotus navel (padmanābha), and is the Lord of creation (prajāpati).
अमृत्युः सर्वदृक्सिंहः संधाता संधिमान्स्थिरः ।
अजो दुर्मर्षणः शास्ता विश्रुतात्मा सुरारिहा ॥३५॥
35. amṛtyuḥ sarvadṛksiṁhaḥ saṁdhātā saṁdhimānsthiraḥ ,
ajo durmarṣaṇaḥ śāstā viśrutātmā surārihā.

35. He is immortal, all-seeing, a supreme lion (in strength), the unifier, one who maintains connections, and steadfast. He is unborn, unconquerable, the disciplinarian, whose self (ātman) is widely renowned, and the annihilator of the gods' adversaries.
गुरुर्गुरुतमो धाम सत्यः सत्यपराक्रमः ।
निमिषोऽनिमिषः स्रग्वी वाचस्पतिरुदारधीः ॥३६॥
36. gururgurutamo dhāma satyaḥ satyaparākramaḥ ,
nimiṣo'nimiṣaḥ sragvī vācaspatirudāradhīḥ.

36. He is the venerable teacher (guru), the supreme teacher, the abode of splendor, truthful, and possesses true valor. He is both winking and unwinking, wears a garland, is the lord of speech, and possesses a magnanimous intellect.
अग्रणीर्ग्रामणीः श्रीमान्न्यायो नेता समीरणः ।
सहस्रमूर्धा विश्वात्मा सहस्राक्षः सहस्रपात् ॥३७॥
37. agraṇīrgrāmaṇīḥ śrīmānnyāyo netā samīraṇaḥ ,
sahasramūrdhā viśvātmā sahasrākṣaḥ sahasrapāt.

37. He is the foremost leader, the commander of the multitude, glorious, justice itself, the guide, and the impeller (the wind). He is thousand-headed, the universal self (ātman), thousand-eyed, and thousand-footed.
आवर्तनो निवृत्तात्मा संवृतः संप्रमर्दनः ।
अहः संवर्तको वह्निरनिलो धरणीधरः ॥३८॥
38. āvartano nivṛttātmā saṁvṛtaḥ saṁpramardanaḥ ,
ahaḥ saṁvartako vahniranilo dharaṇīdharaḥ.

38. He is the impeller of cycles, whose self (ātman) is withdrawn, the restrained, and the great suppressor. He is the day, the annihilator (of the cosmos), the sacred fire, the wind, and the sustainer of the earth.
सुप्रसादः प्रसन्नात्मा विश्वधृग्विश्वभुग्विभुः ।
सत्कर्ता सत्कृतः साधुर्जह्नुर्नारायणो नरः ॥३९॥
39. suprasādaḥ prasannātmā viśvadhṛgviśvabhugvibhuḥ ,
satkartā satkṛtaḥ sādhurjahnurnārāyaṇo naraḥ.

39. He is exceedingly gracious, with a serene essence (ātman). He is the upholder of the universe, its enjoyer, and is all-pervading. He honors the virtuous, is honored by them, and is himself righteous. He is the remover of obstacles, the refuge of all beings (nārāyaṇa), and the supreme person.
असंख्येयोऽप्रमेयात्मा विशिष्टः शिष्टकृच्छुचिः ।
सिद्धार्थः सिद्धसंकल्पः सिद्धिदः सिद्धिसाधनः ॥४०॥
40. asaṁkhyeyo'prameyātmā viśiṣṭaḥ śiṣṭakṛcchuciḥ ,
siddhārthaḥ siddhasaṁkalpaḥ siddhidaḥ siddhisādhanaḥ.
40. asaṃkhyeyaḥ aprameyātmā viśiṣṭaḥ śiṣṭakṛt śuciḥ
siddhārthaḥ siddhasaṅkalpaḥ siddhidaḥ siddhisādhanaḥ

40. He is countless and possesses an immeasurable essence (ātman). He is eminent, establishes order, and is pure. His purposes are always accomplished, and his resolutions are always fulfilled. He is the giver of success and the very means of achieving success.
वृषाही वृषभो विष्णुर्वृषपर्वा वृषोदरः ।
वर्धनो वर्धमानश्च विविक्तः श्रुतिसागरः ॥४१॥
41. vṛṣāhī vṛṣabho viṣṇurvṛṣaparvā vṛṣodaraḥ ,
vardhano vardhamānaśca viviktaḥ śrutisāgaraḥ.

41. He is one whose days are auspicious, the supreme bestower of dharma (vṛṣabha), Vishnu (viṣṇu) himself. His stages of manifestation are righteous, and he holds all nourishment within himself. He causes growth and is himself ever-increasing. He is distinct and pure, an ocean of Vedic knowledge (śruti).
सुभुजो दुर्धरो वाग्मी महेन्द्रो वसुदो वसुः ।
नैकरूपो बृहद्रूपः शिपिविष्टः प्रकाशनः ॥४२॥
42. subhujo durdharo vāgmī mahendro vasudo vasuḥ ,
naikarūpo bṛhadrūpaḥ śipiviṣṭaḥ prakāśanaḥ.

42. He possesses beautiful arms, is invincible, and is eloquent. He is the great lord (mahendra), the giver of wealth, and wealth itself. He assumes many forms and has a vast form. He pervades the rays (śipiviṣṭa), and is the great illuminator.
ओजस्तेजो द्युतिधरः प्रकाशात्मा प्रतापनः ।
ऋद्धः स्पष्टाक्षरो मन्त्रश्चन्द्रांशुर्भास्करद्युतिः ॥४३॥
43. ojastejo dyutidharaḥ prakāśātmā pratāpanaḥ ,
ṛddhaḥ spaṣṭākṣaro mantraścandrāṁśurbhāskaradyutiḥ.
43. ojaḥ tejaḥ dyutidharaḥ prakāśātmā pratāpanaḥ ṛddhaḥ
spaṣṭākṣaraḥ mantraḥ candrāṃśuḥ bhāskaradyutiḥ

43. He embodies vigor, brilliance, and holds splendor. His nature is pure light, and he is majestic. He is magnificent, a clearly articulated sacred utterance (mantra), a moonbeam, and possesses the radiance of the sun.
अमृतांशूद्भवो भानुः शशबिन्दुः सुरेश्वरः ।
औषधं जगतः सेतुः सत्यधर्मपराक्रमः ॥४४॥
44. amṛtāṁśūdbhavo bhānuḥ śaśabinduḥ sureśvaraḥ ,
auṣadhaṁ jagataḥ setuḥ satyadharmaparākramaḥ.

44. He is the moon (amṛtāṃśūdbhava) and the sun (bhānu), also known as the moon (śaśabindu). He is the lord of the gods, the medicine, the bridge of the world, and his valor is founded on truth and natural law (dharma).
भूतभव्यभवन्नाथः पवनः पावनोऽनिलः ।
कामहा कामकृत्कान्तः कामः कामप्रदः प्रभुः ॥४५॥
45. bhūtabhavyabhavannāthaḥ pavanaḥ pāvano'nilaḥ ,
kāmahā kāmakṛtkāntaḥ kāmaḥ kāmapradaḥ prabhuḥ.

45. He is the lord of the past, future, and present. He is the wind, the purifier, and the air (anila). He is the destroyer of desires, the fulfiller of desires, the beloved, desire (kāma) personified, the bestower of desires, and the supreme master.
युगादिकृद्युगावर्तो नैकमायो महाशनः ।
अदृश्यो व्यक्तरूपश्च सहस्रजिदनन्तजित् ॥४६॥
46. yugādikṛdyugāvarto naikamāyo mahāśanaḥ ,
adṛśyo vyaktarūpaśca sahasrajidanantajit.

46. He is the creator of the beginning of eras and the controller of ages. He possesses various powers (māyā) and is the great all-consumer. He is invisible yet also has a manifest form. He is the conqueror of thousands and the conqueror of the infinite.
इष्टो विशिष्टः शिष्टेष्टः शिखण्डी नहुषो वृषः ।
क्रोधहा क्रोधकृत्कर्ता विश्वबाहुर्महीधरः ॥४७॥
47. iṣṭo viśiṣṭaḥ śiṣṭeṣṭaḥ śikhaṇḍī nahuṣo vṛṣaḥ ,
krodhahā krodhakṛtkartā viśvabāhurmahīdharaḥ.

47. He is desired (by devotees), distinguished, cherished by the virtuous, adorned with a peacock feather (śikhaṇḍī), the binder (nahuṣa), and the righteous one (vṛṣa). He is the annihilator of anger, the inciter of anger (in enemies), the supreme doer, one whose arms are everywhere (viśvabāhu), and the supporter of the earth.
अच्युतः प्रथितः प्राणः प्राणदो वासवानुजः ।
अपां निधिरधिष्ठानमप्रमत्तः प्रतिष्ठितः ॥४८॥
48. acyutaḥ prathitaḥ prāṇaḥ prāṇado vāsavānujaḥ ,
apāṁ nidhiradhiṣṭhānamapramattaḥ pratiṣṭhitaḥ.

48. He is the immutable (acyuta), the celebrated one, the very life-breath (prāṇa), the bestower of life, and the younger brother of Indra (vāsavānuja). He is the ocean, the fundamental basis, ever vigilant, and firmly established.
स्कन्दः स्कन्दधरो धुर्यो वरदो वायुवाहनः ।
वासुदेवो बृहद्भानुरादिदेवः पुरंदरः ॥४९॥
49. skandaḥ skandadharo dhuryo varado vāyuvāhanaḥ ,
vāsudevo bṛhadbhānurādidevaḥ puraṁdaraḥ.

49. He is the attacker (skanda), the upholder of Skanda, the leader (dhurya), the bestower of boons, and the controller of the winds (vāyuvāhana). He is Vāsudeva (kṛṣṇa), of great splendor, the primeval deity, and the destroyer of cities (purandara).
अशोकस्तारणस्तारः शूरः शौरिर्जनेश्वरः ।
अनुकूलः शतावर्तः पद्मी पद्मनिभेक्षणः ॥५०॥
50. aśokastāraṇastāraḥ śūraḥ śaurirjaneśvaraḥ ,
anukūlaḥ śatāvartaḥ padmī padmanibhekṣaṇaḥ.

50. He is free from sorrow, the deliverer, the savior. He is valiant, Śauri (kṛṣṇa), the lord of people. He is benevolent, manifests in a hundred forms (śatāvarta), the lotus-bearer (padmī), and has eyes like a lotus.
पद्मनाभोऽरविन्दाक्षः पद्मगर्भः शरीरभृत् ।
महर्द्धिरृद्धो वृद्धात्मा महाक्षो गरुडध्वजः ॥५१॥
51. padmanābho'ravindākṣaḥ padmagarbhaḥ śarīrabhṛt ,
maharddhirṛddho vṛddhātmā mahākṣo garuḍadhvajaḥ.

51. He is the one from whose navel springs the lotus, whose eyes are like lotuses, and who contains the lotus of creation. He sustains all beings, possesses immense prosperity, and is endowed with opulence. His self (ātman) is ancient; he has magnificent eyes and bears Garuda as his banner.
अतुलः शरभो भीमः समयज्ञो हविर्हरिः ।
सर्वलक्षणलक्षण्यो लक्ष्मीवान्समितिंजयः ॥५२॥

52. He is incomparable, the powerful śarabha, awe-inspiring, and a knower of the proper occasion. He is the recipient of offerings, distinguished by all auspicious characteristics, endowed with prosperity, and victorious in battle.
विक्षरो रोहितो मार्गो हेतुर्दामोदरः सहः ।
महीधरो महाभागो वेगवानमिताशनः ॥५३॥
53. vikṣaro rohito mārgo heturdāmodaraḥ sahaḥ ,
mahīdharo mahābhāgo vegavānamitāśanaḥ.

53. He is imperishable, brilliant, the very path, the ultimate cause, and dāmodara (whose belly was bound with a rope). He is powerful, the sustainer of the earth, greatly glorious, swift, and of immeasurable consumption.

करणं कारणं कर्ता विकर्ता गहनो गुहः ॥५४॥

54. He is the origin, the agitator, the divine one, the repository of all auspiciousness, and the Supreme Lord (parameśvara). He is the instrument, the primary cause, the creator, the diversifying agent, the profound, and the hidden one.
व्यवसायो व्यवस्थानः संस्थानः स्थानदो ध्रुवः ।
परर्द्धिः परमः स्पष्टस्तुष्टः पुष्टः शुभेक्षणः ॥५५॥

55. He is the Determined One, the Establisher of order, the Ultimate Resort, the Grantor of status, and the Unchanging One. He possesses supreme prosperity, is the Highest, the Clearly Manifest, the Contented, the Fully Nourished, and has an Auspicious Gaze.

वीरः शक्तिमतां श्रेष्ठो धर्मो धर्मविदुत्तमः ॥५६॥

56. He is the Delighter, the Ultimate Repose, the Detached One. He is the Path, the One to be Guided, the Guiding Principle, and the One free from impropriety. He is the Heroic, the Foremost among the powerful, the intrinsic nature (dharma) itself, and the Best among those who understand natural law (dharma).
वैकुण्ठः पुरुषः प्राणः प्राणदः प्रणवः पृथुः ।
हिरण्यगर्भः शत्रुघ्नो व्याप्तो वायुरधोक्षजः ॥५७॥

57. He is Vaikuṇṭha, the supreme cosmic person (puruṣa), the life-force (prāṇa), the Giver of life, the sacred syllable Om (praṇava), and the Expansive One. He is Hiraṇyagarbha, the Destroyer of foes, the All-pervading, the Controller of vital forces (Vāyu), and Adhokṣaja.
ऋतुः सुदर्शनः कालः परमेष्ठी परिग्रहः ।
उग्रः संवत्सरो दक्षो विश्रामो विश्वदक्षिणः ॥५८॥
58. ṛtuḥ sudarśanaḥ kālaḥ parameṣṭhī parigrahaḥ ,
ugraḥ saṁvatsaro dakṣo viśrāmo viśvadakṣiṇaḥ.

विस्तारः स्थावरः स्थाणुः प्रमाणं बीजमव्ययम् ।
अर्थोऽनर्थो महाकोशो महाभोगो महाधनः ॥५९॥
59. vistāraḥ sthāvaraḥ sthāṇuḥ pramāṇaṁ bījamavyayam ,
artho'nartho mahākośo mahābhogo mahādhanaḥ.

59. He is the Pervasion, the Immobile, the Steadfast, the ultimate Standard, and the Imperishable Seed. He is both the Purpose and the Purposeless, the Great Treasury, the Source of Great Enjoyment, and Possessor of Great Wealth.
अनिर्विण्णः स्थविष्ठो भूर्धर्मयूपो महामखः ।
नक्षत्रनेमिर्नक्षत्री क्षमः क्षामः समीहनः ॥६०॥
60. anirviṇṇaḥ sthaviṣṭho bhūrdharmayūpo mahāmakhaḥ ,
nakṣatranemirnakṣatrī kṣamaḥ kṣāmaḥ samīhanaḥ.

60. He is Undismayed, the Stoutest, and Existence itself. He is the Sacrificial Post of natural law (dharma) and the Great Vedic ritual (yajña). He is the Hub of the Constellations and the Lord of the Constellations. He is Patient, the Diminished, and the One who Strives well.
यज्ञ इज्यो महेज्यश्च क्रतुः सत्रं सतां गतिः ।
सर्वदर्शी विमुक्तात्मा सर्वज्ञो ज्ञानमुत्तमम् ॥६१॥
61. yajña ijyo mahejyaśca kratuḥ satraṁ satāṁ gatiḥ ,
sarvadarśī vimuktātmā sarvajño jñānamuttamam.

61. He is the Vedic ritual (yajña), the Adorable, and the Greatly Adored. He is the sacrificial Rite and the Long Vedic ritual, the Goal of the Virtuous. He is the All-Seer, the One with a liberated self (ātman), the All-Knower, and Supreme Knowledge (jñāna) itself.
सुव्रतः सुमुखः सूक्ष्मः सुघोषः सुखदः सुहृत् ।
मनोहरो जितक्रोधो वीरबाहुर्विदारणः ॥६२॥
62. suvrataḥ sumukhaḥ sūkṣmaḥ sughoṣaḥ sukhadaḥ suhṛt ,
manoharo jitakrodho vīrabāhurvidāraṇaḥ.

62. He is of Good Vows, Benevolent-faced, and Subtle. He is of Auspicious Sound, the Giver of Happiness, and a Good Friend. He is Charming, one who has Conquered Anger, the Heroic-armed, and the Destroyer.
स्वापनः स्ववशो व्यापी नैकात्मा नैककर्मकृत् ।
वत्सरो वत्सलो वत्सी रत्नगर्भो धनेश्वरः ॥६३॥
63. svāpanaḥ svavaśo vyāpī naikātmā naikakarmakṛt ,
vatsaro vatsalo vatsī ratnagarbho dhaneśvaraḥ.

63. He who induces cosmic sleep (svāpanaḥ), who is independent (svavaśaḥ), and all-pervading (vyāpī). He is not a singular self (na ekātmā), and performs various actions (na ekakarmakṛt). He is the Year (vatsaraḥ), ever affectionate (vatsalaḥ), and like a protector with calves (vatsī). He is the repository of jewels (ratnagarbhaḥ) and the lord of wealth (dhaneśvaraḥ).
धर्मगुब्धर्मकृद्धर्मी सदसत्क्षरमक्षरम् ।
अविज्ञाता सहस्रांशुर्विधाता कृतलक्षणः ॥६४॥
64. dharmagubdharmakṛddharmī sadasatkṣaramakṣaram ,
avijñātā sahasrāṁśurvidhātā kṛtalakṣaṇaḥ.

akṣaram avijñātā sahasrāṃśuḥ vidhātā kṛtalakṣaṇaḥ
64. He is the protector of natural law (dharmagup), the performer of natural law (dharmakṛt), and the embodiment of natural law (dharmī). He is both the existent (sat) and the non-existent (asat), the perishable (kṣaram) and the imperishable (akṣaram). He is the Unknowable (avijñātā), the thousand-rayed (sahasrāṃśuḥ), the Ordainer (vidhātā), and the one who has established all distinguishing characteristics (kṛtalakṣaṇaḥ).
गभस्तिनेमिः सत्त्वस्थः सिंहो भूतमहेश्वरः ।
आदिदेवो महादेवो देवेशो देवभृद्गुरुः ॥६५॥
65. gabhastinemiḥ sattvasthaḥ siṁho bhūtamaheśvaraḥ ,
ādidevo mahādevo deveśo devabhṛdguruḥ.

65. He whose rays are like the felloe of a wheel (gabhastinemiḥ), who abides in truth and goodness (sattvasthaḥ), and who is a lion (siṃhaḥ) (in might). He is the great lord of all beings (bhūtamaheśvaraḥ). He is the primordial deity (ādidevaḥ), the great deity (mahādevaḥ), and the lord of the gods (deveśaḥ). He is the sustainer of the gods (devabhṛt) and their preceptor (guruḥ).
उत्तरो गोपतिर्गोप्ता ज्ञानगम्यः पुरातनः ।
शरीरभूतभृद्भोक्ता कपीन्द्रो भूरिदक्षिणः ॥६६॥
66. uttaro gopatirgoptā jñānagamyaḥ purātanaḥ ,
śarīrabhūtabhṛdbhoktā kapīndro bhūridakṣiṇaḥ.

66. He is the supreme (uttaraḥ), the protector of the earth and the Vedas (gopatiḥ), and the guardian (goptā). He is knowable through spiritual knowledge (jñānagamyaḥ) and is primeval (purātanaḥ). He is the sustainer of all bodies and elements (śarīrabhūtabhṛt) and the ultimate experiencer (bhoktā). He is the chief of enlightened ones (kapīndraḥ) and the giver of abundant rewards (bhūridakṣiṇaḥ).
सोमपोऽमृतपः सोमः पुरुजित्पुरुसत्तमः ।
विनयो जयः सत्यसंधो दाशार्हः सात्वतां पतिः ॥६७॥
67. somapo'mṛtapaḥ somaḥ purujitpurusattamaḥ ,
vinayo jayaḥ satyasaṁdho dāśārhaḥ sātvatāṁ patiḥ.

67. He is the drinker of soma, the drinker of ambrosia, the moon (or source of joy), the conqueror of many, the most excellent among many beings, the remover of pride, victory itself, whose resolve is unfailingly true, who belongs to the Daśārha lineage, and the protector of the Sātvatas.
जीवो विनयिता साक्षी मुकुन्दोऽमितविक्रमः ।
अम्भोनिधिरनन्तात्मा महोदधिशयोऽन्तकः ॥६८॥
68. jīvo vinayitā sākṣī mukundo'mitavikramaḥ ,
ambhonidhiranantātmā mahodadhiśayo'ntakaḥ.

68. He is the life-principle (jīva), the one who bestows discipline, the witness, the bestower of liberation (mokṣa), possessing immeasurable valor, the ocean, the one whose self (ātman) is infinite, who rests on the great ocean, and the ultimate destroyer.
अजो महार्हः स्वाभाव्यो जितामित्रः प्रमोदनः ।
आनन्दो नन्दनो नन्दः सत्यधर्मा त्रिविक्रमः ॥६९॥
69. ajo mahārhaḥ svābhāvyo jitāmitraḥ pramodanaḥ ,
ānando nandano nandaḥ satyadharmā trivikramaḥ.

69. He is the unborn, worthy of great honor, whose very essence is self-existent, the conqueror of enemies, the great delighter, supreme bliss, the bestower of joy, the source of delight, whose natural law (dharma) is truth, and the one who took three steps.
महर्षिः कपिलाचार्यः कृतज्ञो मेदिनीपतिः ।
त्रिपदस्त्रिदशाध्यक्षो महाशृङ्गः कृतान्तकृत् ॥७०॥
70. maharṣiḥ kapilācāryaḥ kṛtajño medinīpatiḥ ,
tripadastridaśādhyakṣo mahāśṛṅgaḥ kṛtāntakṛt.

70. He is the great sage, the teacher Kapila, the one who knows and rewards good deeds, the lord of the earth, possessing three steps, the chief of the thirty gods, possessing a great horn, and the creator of the end (of an age).
महावराहो गोविन्दः सुषेणः कनकाङ्गदी ।
गुह्यो गभीरो गहनो गुप्तश्चक्रगदाधरः ॥७१॥
71. mahāvarāho govindaḥ suṣeṇaḥ kanakāṅgadī ,
guhyo gabhīro gahano guptaścakragadādharaḥ.

71. He is the Great Boar (mahāvarāha), Govinda, one with an excellent army, and adorned with golden armlets. He is hidden, profound, impenetrable, well-protected, and the bearer of the discus and mace.
वेधाः स्वाङ्गोऽजितः कृष्णो दृढः संकर्षणोऽच्युतः ।
वरुणो वारुणो वृक्षः पुष्कराक्षो महामनाः ॥७२॥
72. vedhāḥ svāṅgo'jitaḥ kṛṣṇo dṛḍhaḥ saṁkarṣaṇo'cyutaḥ ,
varuṇo vāruṇo vṛkṣaḥ puṣkarākṣo mahāmanāḥ.

72. He is the Ordainer, self-existent, unconquered, Kṛṣṇa, firm, Saṃkarṣaṇa, and infallible. He is Varuṇa, related to Varuṇa, the cosmic tree, lotus-eyed, and great-minded.
भगवान्भगहा नन्दी वनमाली हलायुधः ।
आदित्यो ज्योतिरादित्यः सहिष्णुर्गतिसत्तमः ॥७३॥
73. bhagavānbhagahā nandī vanamālī halāyudhaḥ ,

73. He is the glorious (bhagavān), destroyer of misfortune, the bestower of joy, adorned with a forest garland, and armed with a plough. He is a solar deity, the light of the sun, patient, and the supreme goal.
सुधन्वा खण्डपरशुर्दारुणो द्रविणप्रदः ।
दिवःस्पृक्सर्वदृग्व्यासो वाचस्पतिरयोनिजः ॥७४॥
74. sudhanvā khaṇḍaparaśurdāruṇo draviṇapradaḥ ,
divaḥspṛksarvadṛgvyāso vācaspatirayonijaḥ.

74. He possesses a beautiful bow, wields a formidable axe, and is the giver of wealth. He touches the sky, is all-seeing, expansive (vyāsa), the lord of speech, and not born from a womb.
त्रिसामा सामगः साम निर्वाणं भेषजं भिषक् ।
संन्यासकृच्छमः शान्तो निष्ठा शान्तिः परायणम् ॥७५॥
75. trisāmā sāmagaḥ sāma nirvāṇaṁ bheṣajaṁ bhiṣak ,
saṁnyāsakṛcchamaḥ śānto niṣṭhā śāntiḥ parāyaṇam.

75. He is the knower of the three Sāmans, the chanter of Sāman, and the Sāman itself. He is ultimate liberation (nirvāṇa), the medicine, and the physician. He is the giver of renunciation, self-control, and is peaceful. He is the firm foundation, supreme peace, and the ultimate refuge.
शुभाङ्गः शान्तिदः स्रष्टा कुमुदः कुवलेशयः ।
गोहितो गोपतिर्गोप्ता वृषभाक्षो वृषप्रियः ॥७६॥
76. śubhāṅgaḥ śāntidaḥ sraṣṭā kumudaḥ kuvaleśayaḥ ,
gohito gopatirgoptā vṛṣabhākṣo vṛṣapriyaḥ.

76. He has beautiful limbs, grants peace, and is the creator. He gladdens the earth, and reclines on the water. He is the benefactor of cows, the lord of cows, and the protector. He has excellent eyes and is dear to dharma.
अनिवर्ती निवृत्तात्मा संक्षेप्ता क्षेमकृच्छिवः ।
श्रीवत्सवक्षाः श्रीवासः श्रीपतिः श्रीमतां वरः ॥७७॥
77. anivartī nivṛttātmā saṁkṣeptā kṣemakṛcchivaḥ ,
śrīvatsavakṣāḥ śrīvāsaḥ śrīpatiḥ śrīmatāṁ varaḥ.

śrīvatsavakṣāḥ śrīvāsaḥ śrīpatiḥ śrīmatām varaḥ
77. anivartī nivṛttātmā saṃkṣeptā kṣemakṛt śivaḥ
śrīvatsavakṣāḥ śrīvāsaḥ śrīpatiḥ śrīmatām varaḥ
77. He never retreats, and his mind is turned away from worldly desires. He is the summarizer (of the universe), the bestower of welfare, and the auspicious one. He bears the Śrīvatsa mark on his chest, is the abode of Śrī, the lord of Śrī, and the foremost among the glorious.
श्रीदः श्रीशः श्रीनिवासः श्रीनिधिः श्रीविभावनः ।
श्रीधरः श्रीकरः श्रेयः श्रीमाँल्लोकत्रयाश्रयः ॥७८॥
78. śrīdaḥ śrīśaḥ śrīnivāsaḥ śrīnidhiḥ śrīvibhāvanaḥ ,

78. He is the bestower of prosperity, the lord of prosperity, and the dwelling place of prosperity. He is the treasure house of prosperity, and the one who creates and distributes prosperity. He upholds prosperity, brings about prosperity, and is the ultimate welfare. He is glorious, and the refuge of the three worlds.
स्वक्षः स्वङ्गः शतानन्दो नन्दिर्ज्योतिर्गणेश्वरः ।
विजितात्मा विधेयात्मा सत्कीर्तिश्छिन्नसंशयः ॥७९॥
79. svakṣaḥ svaṅgaḥ śatānando nandirjyotirgaṇeśvaraḥ ,
vijitātmā vidheyātmā satkīrtiśchinnasaṁśayaḥ.

79. He has beautiful eyes, possesses excellent limbs, and experiences a hundredfold joy. He is the giver of delight, the very light, and the lord of hosts. His individual self (ātman) is conquered and well-disciplined; he possesses true glory and has all doubts dispelled.
उदीर्णः सर्वतश्चक्षुरनीशः शाश्वतः स्थिरः ।
भूशयो भूषणो भूतिर्विशोकः शोकनाशनः ॥८०॥
80. udīrṇaḥ sarvataścakṣuranīśaḥ śāśvataḥ sthiraḥ ,
bhūśayo bhūṣaṇo bhūtirviśokaḥ śokanāśanaḥ.

80. He is prominent, with eyes everywhere, and is without a superior. He is eternal and steadfast. He rests on the ground (or is humble), is an adorner, and is the very essence of prosperity. He is free from sorrow and the destroyer of all grief.
अर्चिष्मानर्चितः कुम्भो विशुद्धात्मा विशोधनः ।
अनिरुद्धोऽप्रतिरथः प्रद्युम्नोऽमितविक्रमः ॥८१॥
81. arciṣmānarcitaḥ kumbho viśuddhātmā viśodhanaḥ ,
aniruddho'pratirathaḥ pradyumno'mitavikramaḥ.

81. He is luminous and worshipped, the one who contains all (like a pot). He possesses a perfectly pure individual self (ātman) and is a great purifier. He is unrestrained and has no equal opponent, exceedingly mighty, and of immeasurable valor.
कालनेमिनिहा वीरः शूरः शौरिर्जनेश्वरः ।
त्रिलोकात्मा त्रिलोकेशः केशवः केशिहा हरिः ॥८२॥
82. kālaneminihā vīraḥ śūraḥ śaurirjaneśvaraḥ ,
trilokātmā trilokeśaḥ keśavaḥ keśihā hariḥ.

82. He is the slayer of Kālanemi, heroic and valiant. He is the descendant of Śūra and the lord of all people. He is the individual self (ātman) of the three worlds and their lord. He is Keśava, the slayer of Keśī, and Hari.
कामदेवः कामपालः कामी कान्तः कृतागमः ।
अनिर्देश्यवपुर्विष्णुर्वीरोऽनन्तो धनंजयः ॥८३॥
83. kāmadevaḥ kāmapālaḥ kāmī kāntaḥ kṛtāgamaḥ ,
anirdeśyavapurviṣṇurvīro'nanto dhanaṁjayaḥ.

83. He is the deity of love (Kāmadeva), the protector of desires, the desirable one, the beloved, and the author of the scriptures. His form is indescribable; He is the all-pervading (Viṣṇu), the heroic, the infinite, and the conqueror of wealth.
ब्रह्मण्यो ब्रह्मकृद्ब्रह्मा ब्रह्म ब्रह्मविवर्धनः ।
ब्रह्मविद्ब्राह्मणो ब्रह्मी ब्रह्मज्ञो ब्राह्मणप्रियः ॥८४॥
84. brahmaṇyo brahmakṛdbrahmā brahma brahmavivardhanaḥ ,
brahmavidbrāhmaṇo brahmī brahmajño brāhmaṇapriyaḥ.

84. He is favorable to spiritual wisdom (brahmaṇya), the creator of the cosmic principle (brahman), the creator (Brahmā) himself, the absolute reality (brahman), and the enhancer of spiritual growth. He is the knower of (brahman), a true Brahmin, one who embodies (brahman), also a knower of (brahman), and dear to the Brahmins.
महाक्रमो महाकर्मा महातेजा महोरगः ।
महाक्रतुर्महायज्वा महायज्ञो महाहविः ॥८५॥
85. mahākramo mahākarmā mahātejā mahoragaḥ ,
mahākraturmahāyajvā mahāyajño mahāhaviḥ.

85. He is of mighty stride, performing great deeds, possessed of immense splendor, and the great cosmic serpent (Mahoraga). He is the great Vedic ritual (kratu), the great performer of Vedic rituals, the great (yajña) itself, and the great offering.
स्तव्यः स्तवप्रियः स्तोत्रं स्तुतिः स्तोता रणप्रियः ।
पूर्णः पूरयिता पुण्यः पुण्यकीर्तिरनामयः ॥८६॥
86. stavyaḥ stavapriyaḥ stotraṁ stutiḥ stotā raṇapriyaḥ ,
pūrṇaḥ pūrayitā puṇyaḥ puṇyakīrtiranāmayaḥ.

86. He is praiseworthy, fond of praise, the very hymn of praise (stotra), the act of eulogy, and the one who praises. He is also fond of battle. He is complete, the fulfiller, meritorious, of sacred fame, and free from all affliction.
मनोजवस्तीर्थकरो वसुरेता वसुप्रदः ।
वसुप्रदो वासुदेवो वसुर्वसुमना हविः ॥८७॥
87. manojavastīrthakaro vasuretā vasupradaḥ ,
vasuprado vāsudevo vasurvasumanā haviḥ.
87. manojavaḥ tīrthakaraḥ vasuretāḥ vasupradaḥ
vasupradaḥ vāsudevaḥ vasuḥ vasumanāḥ haviḥ
87. He who is swift as thought, the one who establishes holy sites, whose creative essence is wealth, and who bestows riches. He is Vāsudeva, the indwelling principle, whose mind is benevolent, and who is the sacred offering.
सद्गतिः सत्कृतिः सत्ता सद्भूतिः सत्परायणः ।
शूरसेनो यदुश्रेष्ठः सन्निवासः सुयामुनः ॥८८॥
88. sadgatiḥ satkṛtiḥ sattā sadbhūtiḥ satparāyaṇaḥ ,
śūraseno yaduśreṣṭhaḥ sannivāsaḥ suyāmunaḥ.

88. He is the ultimate goal of the virtuous, the embodiment of noble deeds, pure existence, true well-being, and the supreme refuge for the good. He is Śūrasena, the best among the Yadus, the excellent abode, and one associated with the sacred Yamuna.
भूतावासो वासुदेवो सर्वासुनिलयोऽनलः ।
दर्पहा दर्पदो दृप्तो दुर्धरोऽथापराजितः ॥८९॥
89. bhūtāvāso vāsudevo sarvāsunilayo'nalaḥ ,
darpahā darpado dṛpto durdharo'thāparājitaḥ.

darpahā darpadaḥ dṛptaḥ durdharaḥ atha aparājitaḥ
89. He is the abode of all beings, Vāsudeva, the resting place of all life-breaths, and inexhaustible. He destroys arrogance, yet grants confidence, is valorous, difficult to endure or conquer, and ultimately, unconquered.
विश्वमूर्तिर्महामूर्तिर्दीप्तमूर्तिरमूर्तिमान् ।
अनेकमूर्तिरव्यक्तः शतमूर्तिः शताननः ॥९०॥
90. viśvamūrtirmahāmūrtirdīptamūrtiramūrtimān ,
anekamūrtiravyaktaḥ śatamūrtiḥ śatānanaḥ.
90. viśvamūrtiḥ mahāmūrtiḥ dīptamūrtiḥ amūrtimān
anekamūrtiḥ avyaktaḥ śatamūrtiḥ śatānanaḥ
90. He whose form is the entire universe, who possesses a magnificent and resplendent form, yet is also formless. He manifests in countless forms, remains unmanifest, and has a hundred forms and a hundred faces.
एको नैकः सवः कः किं यत्तत्पदमनुत्तमम् ।
लोकबन्धुर्लोकनाथो माधवो भक्तवत्सलः ॥९१॥
91. eko naikaḥ savaḥ kaḥ kiṁ yattatpadamanuttamam ,
lokabandhurlokanātho mādhavo bhaktavatsalaḥ.
91. ekaḥ na ekaḥ savaḥ kaḥ kim yat tat padam anuttamam
lokabandhuḥ lokanāthaḥ mādhavaḥ bhaktavatsalaḥ
91. ekaḥ na ekaḥ savaḥ kaḥ kim yat tat padam anuttamam

91. He is the One, yet also the Manifold. He is the [Vedic ritual] (sava), and the enigmatic "Who?" and "What?". He is that supreme, unequalled state. He is the kinsman of the worlds, the lord of the worlds, Mādhava, and affectionate towards his devotees.
सुवर्णवर्णो हेमाङ्गो वराङ्गश्चन्दनाङ्गदी ।
वीरहा विषमः शून्यो घृताशीरचलश्चलः ॥९२॥
92. suvarṇavarṇo hemāṅgo varāṅgaścandanāṅgadī ,
vīrahā viṣamaḥ śūnyo ghṛtāśīracalaścalaḥ.

92. He is gold-colored, golden-limbed, and possesses an excellent body, adorned with sandalwood paste and armlets. He is the slayer of mighty heroes, peerless, and void of attributes. He receives auspicious blessings, is both immovable and movable.
अमानी मानदो मान्यो लोकस्वामी त्रिलोकधृक् ।
सुमेधा मेधजो धन्यः सत्यमेधा धराधरः ॥९३॥
93. amānī mānado mānyo lokasvāmī trilokadhṛk ,
sumedhā medhajo dhanyaḥ satyamedhā dharādharaḥ.

93. He is free from pride, the giver of honor, and worthy of veneration. He is the lord of the worlds, the supporter of the three worlds. He possesses good intellect, is born from wisdom, and is blessed. He has true intellect and is the upholder of the earth.
तेजो वृषो द्युतिधरः सर्वशस्त्रभृतां वरः ।
प्रग्रहो निग्रहोऽव्यग्रो नैकशृङ्गो गदाग्रजः ॥९४॥
94. tejo vṛṣo dyutidharaḥ sarvaśastrabhṛtāṁ varaḥ ,
pragraho nigraho'vyagro naikaśṛṅgo gadāgrajaḥ.

94. He is splendor and a bestower of wishes. He is the bearer of radiance, the foremost among all weapon-wielders. He is the controller and the subduer, always undisturbed. He is unique (or not single-horned), and the elder brother of Gadā.
चतुर्मूर्तिश्चतुर्बाहुश्चतुर्व्यूहश्चतुर्गतिः ।
चतुरात्मा चतुर्भावश्चतुर्वेदविदेकपात् ॥९५॥
95. caturmūrtiścaturbāhuścaturvyūhaścaturgatiḥ ,
caturātmā caturbhāvaścaturvedavidekapāt.

95. He has four manifestations, four arms, and four emanations. He is the fourfold refuge. His intrinsic nature (ātman) is four-dimensional, and he embodies four states of being. He is the knower of the four Vedas, and the sole foundation.
समावर्तो निवृत्तात्मा दुर्जयो दुरतिक्रमः ।
दुर्लभो दुर्गमो दुर्गो दुरावासो दुरारिहा ॥९६॥
96. samāvarto nivṛttātmā durjayo duratikramaḥ ,
durlabho durgamo durgo durāvāso durārihā.

96. The one who perfectly revolves the wheel of existence (saṃsāra), whose intrinsic nature (ātman) is withdrawn from worldly concerns. He is invincible and impossible to overcome. He is difficult to obtain, hard to approach, and unassailable. He is difficult for enemies to confine, and he is the destroyer of evil foes.
शुभाङ्गो लोकसारङ्गः सुतन्तुस्तन्तुवर्धनः ।
इन्द्रकर्मा महाकर्मा कृतकर्मा कृतागमः ॥९७॥
97. śubhāṅgo lokasāraṅgaḥ sutantustantuvardhanaḥ ,
indrakarmā mahākarmā kṛtakarmā kṛtāgamaḥ.
97. śubhāṅgaḥ lokasāraṅgaḥ sutantuḥ tantuvardhanaḥ
indrakarmā mahākarmā kṛtakarmā kṛtāgamaḥ
97. He has auspicious limbs and is the essence of the world. He is the excellent thread of creation and its expander. His deeds are mighty, and he performs great actions (karma). His actions are perfectly accomplished, and he is the founder of sacred traditions.
उद्भवः सुन्दरः सुन्दो रत्ननाभः सुलोचनः ।
अर्को वाजसनः शृङ्गी जयन्तः सर्वविज्जयी ॥९८॥
98. udbhavaḥ sundaraḥ sundo ratnanābhaḥ sulocanaḥ ,
arko vājasanaḥ śṛṅgī jayantaḥ sarvavijjayī.

arkaḥ vājasanaḥ śṛṅgī jayantaḥ sarvavijjayī
98. He is the uncreated source, the beautiful one, and the endearing one. His navel is like a jewel, and he possesses beautiful eyes. He is the sun, the bestower of strength, and the horned one (referring to the fish incarnation). He is ever-victorious and triumphs over all.
सुवर्णबिन्दुरक्षोभ्यः सर्ववागीश्वरेश्वरः ।
महाह्रदो महागर्तो महाभूतो महानिधिः ॥९९॥
99. suvarṇabindurakṣobhyaḥ sarvavāgīśvareśvaraḥ ,
mahāhrado mahāgarto mahābhūto mahānidhiḥ.

99. He is the golden point, the imperturbable one, the supreme lord of all lords of speech. He is the great lake, the great chasm, the great being, and the great treasure.
कुमुदः कुंदरः कुन्दः पर्जन्यः पवनोऽनिलः ।
अमृतांशोऽमृतवपुः सर्वज्ञः सर्वतोमुखः ॥१००॥
100. kumudaḥ kuṁdaraḥ kundaḥ parjanyaḥ pavano'nilaḥ ,
amṛtāṁśo'mṛtavapuḥ sarvajñaḥ sarvatomukhaḥ.

100. He is the delight of the earth, the tearer of the earth, the pure one, the rain-god (parjanya), the purifier, and the wind. He has immortal rays, an immortal body, is omniscient, and omnipresent.
सुलभः सुव्रतः सिद्धः शत्रुजिच्छत्रुतापनः ।
न्यग्रोधोदुम्बरोऽश्वत्थश्चाणूरान्ध्रनिषूदनः ॥१०१॥
101. sulabhaḥ suvrataḥ siddhaḥ śatrujicchatrutāpanaḥ ,
nyagrodhodumbaro'śvatthaścāṇūrāndhraniṣūdanaḥ.

101. He is easily attainable, one of excellent vows, and accomplished. He is the conqueror of enemies and the tormentor of foes. He is the Banyan (nyagrodha) tree, the fig (udumbara) tree, and the sacred fig (aśvattha) tree. He is the destroyer of Cāṇūra and Andhra.
सहस्रार्चिः सप्तजिह्वः सप्तैधाः सप्तवाहनः ।
अमूर्तिरनघोऽचिन्त्यो भयकृद्भयनाशनः ॥१०२॥
102. sahasrārciḥ saptajihvaḥ saptaidhāḥ saptavāhanaḥ ,
amūrtiranagho'cintyo bhayakṛdbhayanāśanaḥ.

amūrtiḥ anaghaḥ acintyaḥ bhayakṛt bhayanāśanaḥ

102. He is thousand-rayed, seven-tongued, seven-fueled, and seven-vehicled. He is formless, sinless, and inconceivable. He creates fear and destroys fear.
अणुर्बृहत्कृशः स्थूलो गुणभृन्निर्गुणो महान् ।
अधृतः स्वधृतः स्वास्यः प्राग्वंशो वंशवर्धनः ॥१०३॥
103. aṇurbṛhatkṛśaḥ sthūlo guṇabhṛnnirguṇo mahān ,
adhṛtaḥ svadhṛtaḥ svāsyaḥ prāgvaṁśo vaṁśavardhanaḥ.
103. aṇuḥ bṛhat kṛśaḥ sthūlaḥ guṇabhṛt nirguṇaḥ mahān
adhṛtaḥ svadhṛtaḥ svāsyaḥ prāgvaṃśaḥ vaṃśavardhanaḥ
103. He is subtle and vast, lean and stout. He is the bearer of (all) qualities yet devoid of them, the Great One. He is unsupported, self-sustained, and possesses an auspicious countenance. He is of ancient origin and the proliferator of lineages.
भारभृत्कथितो योगी योगीशः सर्वकामदः ।
आश्रमः श्रमणः क्षामः सुपर्णो वायुवाहनः ॥१०४॥
104. bhārabhṛtkathito yogī yogīśaḥ sarvakāmadaḥ ,
āśramaḥ śramaṇaḥ kṣāmaḥ suparṇo vāyuvāhanaḥ.

104. He is called the supporter of the world (bhārabhṛt). He is the practitioner of (yoga), the master of (yogīs), and the granter of all wishes. He is the refuge (āśrama), the ascetic (śramaṇaḥ), the patient (kṣāmaḥ), the beautiful-winged (suparṇaḥ), and one whose vehicle is the wind (vāyuvāhanaḥ).
धनुर्धरो धनुर्वेदो दण्डो दमयिता दमः ।
अपराजितः सर्वसहो नियन्ता नियमो यमः ॥१०५॥
105. dhanurdharo dhanurvedo daṇḍo damayitā damaḥ ,
aparājitaḥ sarvasaho niyantā niyamo yamaḥ.

aparājitaḥ sarvasahaḥ niyantā niyamaḥ yamaḥ
105. He is the wielder of the bow and the expert in the science of archery. He is the staff of punishment, the subduer, and the very act of subjugation. He is unconquered, tolerant of all, the regulator, the principle of regulation, and the ultimate controller.
सत्त्ववान्सात्त्विकः सत्यः सत्यधर्मपरायणः ।
अभिप्रायः प्रियार्होऽर्हः प्रियकृत्प्रीतिवर्धनः ॥१०६॥
106. sattvavānsāttvikaḥ satyaḥ satyadharmaparāyaṇaḥ ,
abhiprāyaḥ priyārho'rhaḥ priyakṛtprītivardhanaḥ.

106. He is full of the quality of goodness (sattva), pure, and the very truth itself. He is devoted to truth and natural law (dharma). He is the ultimate purpose, deserving of affection, worthy, the doer of what is beloved, and the enhancer of joy.
विहायसगतिर्ज्योतिः सुरुचिर्हुतभुग्विभुः ।
रविर्विरोचनः सूर्यः सविता रविलोचनः ॥१०७॥
107. vihāyasagatirjyotiḥ surucirhutabhugvibhuḥ ,
ravirvirocanaḥ sūryaḥ savitā ravilocanaḥ.

107. He is one who moves through the sky, radiant light, of beautiful splendor, the receiver of oblations, the all-pervading lord. He is the sun, the resplendent one, the sun (sūrya), the inspirer (savitā), and one whose eye is the sun.
अनन्तो हुतभुग्भोक्ता सुखदो नैकदोऽग्रजः ।
अनिर्विण्णः सदामर्षी लोकाधिष्ठानमद्भुतम् ॥१०८॥
108. ananto hutabhugbhoktā sukhado naikado'grajaḥ ,
anirviṇṇaḥ sadāmarṣī lokādhiṣṭhānamadbhutam.
108. anantaḥ hutabhuk bhoktā sukhadaḥ na ekadaḥ agrajaḥ

108. He is infinite, the enjoyer of oblations, the bestower of happiness, the giver of many boons, the first-born. He is undismayed, ever-forgiving, the support of the worlds, and marvelous.
सनात्सनातनतमः कपिलः कपिरव्ययः ।
स्वस्तिदः स्वस्तिकृत्स्वस्ति स्वस्तिभुक्स्वस्तिदक्षिणः ॥१०९॥
109. sanātsanātanatamaḥ kapilaḥ kapiravyayaḥ ,
svastidaḥ svastikṛtsvasti svastibhuksvastidakṣiṇaḥ.

109. He is eternal (sanāt), the most ancient. He is the tawny one (kapila), the boar (kapi), the imperishable. He is the bestower of welfare, the creator of well-being, welfare itself, the enjoyer of welfare, and one whose gift is welfare.
अरौद्रः कुण्डली चक्री विक्रम्यूर्जितशासनः ।
शब्दातिगः शब्दसहः शिशिरः शर्वरीकरः ॥११०॥
110. araudraḥ kuṇḍalī cakrī vikramyūrjitaśāsanaḥ ,
śabdātigaḥ śabdasahaḥ śiśiraḥ śarvarīkaraḥ.

110. He is gentle, adorned with earrings, the wielder of the discus, valiant, and of mighty command. He transcends words, endures all sounds, is refreshing, and the maker of night.
अक्रूरः पेशलो दक्षो दक्षिणः क्षमिणां वरः ।
विद्वत्तमो वीतभयः पुण्यश्रवणकीर्तनः ॥१११॥
111. akrūraḥ peśalo dakṣo dakṣiṇaḥ kṣamiṇāṁ varaḥ ,
vidvattamo vītabhayaḥ puṇyaśravaṇakīrtanaḥ.

111. He is gentle, charming, skillful, benevolent, and the best among patient individuals. He is the most learned, fearless, and listening to or chanting his names bestows merit.
उत्तारणो दुष्कृतिहा पुण्यो दुःस्वप्ननाशनः ।
वीरहा रक्षणः सन्तो जीवनः पर्यवस्थितः ॥११२॥
112. uttāraṇo duṣkṛtihā puṇyo duḥsvapnanāśanaḥ ,
vīrahā rakṣaṇaḥ santo jīvanaḥ paryavasthitaḥ.

112. He is the deliverer, the destroyer of evil deeds, the sanctifier, and the annihilator of bad dreams. He is the slayer of formidable foes, the protector, the good one, the giver of life, and is omnipresent.
अनन्तरूपोऽनन्तश्रीर्जितमन्युर्भयापहः ।
चतुरस्रो गभीरात्मा विदिशो व्यादिशो दिशः ॥११३॥
113. anantarūpo'nantaśrīrjitamanyurbhayāpahaḥ ,
caturasro gabhīrātmā vidiśo vyādiśo diśaḥ.

113. He possesses infinite forms, boundless glory, has conquered wrath, and dispels fear. He is fair and just, profound in essence (ātman), and is the bestower of all intermediate, specific, and main directions.
अनादिर्भूर्भुवो लक्ष्मीः सुवीरो रुचिराङ्गदः ।
जननो जनजन्मादिर्भीमो भीमपराक्रमः ॥११४॥
114. anādirbhūrbhuvo lakṣmīḥ suvīro rucirāṅgadaḥ ,
janano janajanmādirbhīmo bhīmaparākramaḥ.

114. He is without beginning, the very existence (bhū), the support of worlds (bhuvaḥ), and the source of all prosperity (lakṣmī). He is a great hero adorned with beautiful armlets. He is the generator of all beings, the origin of all births, formidable, and of terrifying prowess.
आधारनिलयो धाता पुष्पहासः प्रजागरः ।
ऊर्ध्वगः सत्पथाचारः प्राणदः प्रणवः पणः ॥११५॥
115. ādhāranilayo dhātā puṣpahāsaḥ prajāgaraḥ ,
ūrdhvagaḥ satpathācāraḥ prāṇadaḥ praṇavaḥ paṇaḥ.

115. He is the abode of all support, the sustainer, one whose smile is like a flower, ever-wakeful. He moves upwards, adheres to the path of truth, bestows life, is the sacred syllable (praṇava), and is worthy of praise.
प्रमाणं प्राणनिलयः प्राणकृत्प्राणजीवनः ।
तत्त्वं तत्त्वविदेकात्मा जन्ममृत्युजरातिगः ॥११६॥
116. pramāṇaṁ prāṇanilayaḥ prāṇakṛtprāṇajīvanaḥ ,
tattvaṁ tattvavidekātmā janmamṛtyujarātigaḥ.

116. He is the ultimate authority, the abode of life, the creator of life, the life of life. He is reality (tattva), the knower of reality, the unique self (ātman), transcending birth, death, and old age.
भूर्भुवः स्वस्तरुस्तारः सविता प्रपितामहः ।
यज्ञो यज्ञपतिर्यज्वा यज्ञाङ्गो यज्ञवाहनः ॥११७॥
117. bhūrbhuvaḥ svastarustāraḥ savitā prapitāmahaḥ ,
yajño yajñapatiryajvā yajñāṅgo yajñavāhanaḥ.

117. He is the earth, the mid-region, the heaven, the tree, the one who delivers, the creator, the great-grandfather. He is the Vedic ritual (yajña), the lord of Vedic rituals, the performer of Vedic rituals, whose limbs are the Vedic rituals, and whose vehicle is the Vedic ritual.
यज्ञभृद्यज्ञकृद्यज्ञी यज्ञभुग्यज्ञसाधनः ।
यज्ञान्तकृद्यज्ञगुह्यमन्नमन्नाद एव च ॥११८॥
118. yajñabhṛdyajñakṛdyajñī yajñabhugyajñasādhanaḥ ,
yajñāntakṛdyajñaguhyamannamannāda eva ca.
118. yajñabhṛt yajñakṛt yajñī yajñabhuk yajñasādhanaḥ
| yajñāntakṛt yajñaguhyam annam annādaḥ eva ca
118. yajñabhṛt yajñakṛt yajñī yajñabhuk yajñasādhanaḥ

118. He is the bearer of the Vedic ritual (yajña), the performer of the Vedic ritual, the one connected with the Vedic ritual, the enjoyer of the Vedic ritual, the means of the Vedic ritual. He is the terminator of the Vedic ritual, the secret of the Vedic ritual, food, and the eater of food.
आत्मयोनिः स्वयंजातो वैखानः सामगायनः ।
देवकीनन्दनः स्रष्टा क्षितीशः पापनाशनः ॥११९॥
119. ātmayoniḥ svayaṁjāto vaikhānaḥ sāmagāyanaḥ ,
devakīnandanaḥ sraṣṭā kṣitīśaḥ pāpanāśanaḥ.
119. ātmayoniḥ svayaṃjātaḥ vaikhānaḥ sāmagāyanaḥ
devakīnandanaḥ sraṣṭā kṣitīśaḥ pāpanāśanaḥ
119. He is the self-existent one, born of himself, the forest dweller, the chanter of Sāma hymns, the son of Devakī, the creator, the lord of the earth, and the destroyer of sins.
शङ्खभृन्नन्दकी चक्री शार्ङ्गधन्वा गदाधरः ।
रथाङ्गपाणिरक्षोभ्यः सर्वप्रहरणायुधः ॥१२०॥
120. śaṅkhabhṛnnandakī cakrī śārṅgadhanvā gadādharaḥ ,
rathāṅgapāṇirakṣobhyaḥ sarvapraharaṇāyudhaḥ.
120. śaṅkhabhṛt nandakī cakrī śārṅgadhanvā gadādharaḥ
rathāṅgapāṇiḥ akṣobhyaḥ sarvapraharaṇāyudhaḥ
120. He holds the conch, wields the sword Nandaka, bears the discus, possesses the bow Śārṅga, carries the mace, holds the wheel in his hand, is unshakeable, and has all weapons as his implements.
इतीदं कीर्तनीयस्य केशवस्य महात्मनः ।
नाम्नां सहस्रं दिव्यानामशेषेण प्रकीर्तितम् ॥१२१॥
121. itīdaṁ kīrtanīyasya keśavasya mahātmanaḥ ,
nāmnāṁ sahasraṁ divyānāmaśeṣeṇa prakīrtitam.
121. iti idam kīrtanīyasya keśavasya mahātmanaḥ
nāmnām sahasram divyānām aśeṣeṇa prakīrtitam
121. Thus, this thousand of divine names belonging to the great-souled (mahātman) Keśava, worthy of praise, has been completely recited.
य इदं शृणुयान्नित्यं यश्चापि परिकीर्तयेत् ।
नाशुभं प्राप्नुयात्किंचित्सोऽमुत्रेह च मानवः ॥१२२॥
122. ya idaṁ śṛṇuyānnityaṁ yaścāpi parikīrtayet ,
nāśubhaṁ prāpnuyātkiṁcitso'mutreha ca mānavaḥ.
122. yaḥ idam śṛṇuyāt nityam yaḥ ca api parikīrtayet na
aśubham prāpnuyāt kiñcit saḥ amutra iha ca mānavaḥ
122. That person, who regularly listens to this (thousand names) and who also recites it, will not attain any inauspiciousness either in the other world or in this world.
वेदान्तगो ब्राह्मणः स्यात्क्षत्रियो विजयी भवेत् ।
वैश्यो धनसमृद्धः स्याच्छूद्रः सुखमवाप्नुयात् ॥१२३॥
123. vedāntago brāhmaṇaḥ syātkṣatriyo vijayī bhavet ,
vaiśyo dhanasamṛddhaḥ syācchūdraḥ sukhamavāpnuyāt.
123. vedāntagaḥ brāhmaṇaḥ syāt kṣatriyaḥ vijayī bhavet
vaiśyaḥ dhanasamṛddhaḥ syāt śūdraḥ sukham avāpnuyāt
123. brāhmaṇaḥ vedāntagaḥ syāt kṣatriyaḥ vijayī bhavet
vaiśyaḥ dhanasamṛddhaḥ syāt śūdraḥ sukham avāpnuyāt
123. A brāhmaṇa becomes learned in Vedānta; a kṣatriya becomes victorious; a vaiśya becomes rich with wealth; and a śūdra attains happiness.
धर्मार्थी प्राप्नुयाद्धर्ममर्थार्थी चार्थमाप्नुयात् ।
कामानवाप्नुयात्कामी प्रजार्थी चाप्नुयात्प्रजाः ॥१२४॥
124. dharmārthī prāpnuyāddharmamarthārthī cārthamāpnuyāt ,
kāmānavāpnuyātkāmī prajārthī cāpnuyātprajāḥ.
124. dharmārthī prāpnuyāt dharmam arthārthī ca artham
āpnuyāt kāmān avāpnuyāt kāmī prajārthī ca āpnuyāt prajāḥ
124. dharmārthī dharmam prāpnuyāt arthārthī ca artham
āpnuyāt kāmī kāmān avāpnuyāt prajārthī ca prajāḥ āpnuyāt
124. One who desires natural law (dharma) will attain natural law (dharma); one who desires wealth will attain wealth. One who desires enjoyments will attain enjoyments; and one who desires progeny will attain progeny.
भक्तिमान्यः सदोत्थाय शुचिस्तद्गतमानसः ।
सहस्रं वासुदेवस्य नाम्नामेतत्प्रकीर्तयेत् ॥१२५॥
125. bhaktimānyaḥ sadotthāya śucistadgatamānasaḥ ,
sahasraṁ vāsudevasya nāmnāmetatprakīrtayet.
125. bhaktimān yaḥ sadā utthāya śuciḥ tat gata mānasaḥ
sahasram vāsudevasya nāmnām etat prakīrtayet
125. yaḥ bhaktimān sadā utthāya śuciḥ tat gatamānasaḥ
sahasram vāsudevasya nāmnām etat prakīrtayet
125. Whoever is endowed with devotion (bhakti), always rises, is pure, and has his mind fixed on Him, should recite these thousand names of Vāsudeva.
यशः प्राप्नोति विपुलं ज्ञातिप्राधान्यमेव च ।
अचलां श्रियमाप्नोति श्रेयश्चाप्नोत्यनुत्तमम् ॥१२६॥
126. yaśaḥ prāpnoti vipulaṁ jñātiprādhānyameva ca ,
acalāṁ śriyamāpnoti śreyaścāpnotyanuttamam.
126. yaśaḥ prāpnoti vipulam jñātiprādhānyam eva ca
acalām śriyam āpnoti śreyaḥ ca āpnoti anuttamam
126. yaśaḥ vipulam jñātiprādhānyam eva ca prāpnoti

126. He attains extensive fame and preeminence among his relatives. He obtains unwavering prosperity and unsurpassed supreme good.
न भयं क्वचिदाप्नोति वीर्यं तेजश्च विन्दति ।
भवत्यरोगो द्युतिमान्बलरूपगुणान्वितः ॥१२७॥
127. na bhayaṁ kvacidāpnoti vīryaṁ tejaśca vindati ,
bhavatyarogo dyutimānbalarūpaguṇānvitaḥ.
127. na bhayam kvacit āpnoti vīryam tejaḥ ca vindati
bhavati arogaḥ dyutimān bala rūpa guṇa anvitaḥ
127. na kvacit bhayam āpnoti vīryam ca tejaḥ vindati
arogaḥ dyutimān balarūpaguṇānvitaḥ bhavati
127. Such a person never experiences fear, gains valor and radiance, becomes free from illness, appears luminous, and is endowed with strength, beauty, and excellent qualities.
रोगार्तो मुच्यते रोगाद्बद्धो मुच्येत बन्धनात् ।
भयान्मुच्येत भीतश्च मुच्येतापन्न आपदः ॥१२८॥
128. rogārto mucyate rogādbaddho mucyeta bandhanāt ,
bhayānmucyeta bhītaśca mucyetāpanna āpadaḥ.
128. roga ārtaḥ mucyate rogāt baddhaḥ mucyeta bandhanāt
bhayāt mucyeta bhītaḥ ca mucyeta āpannaḥ āpadaḥ
128. roga ārtaḥ rogāt mucyate baddhaḥ bandhanāt mucyeta
bhītaḥ ca bhayāt mucyeta āpannaḥ āpadaḥ mucyeta
128. A person afflicted by disease is freed from illness; one who is bound is freed from bondage. A frightened person is freed from fear, and one in distress is freed from calamity.
दुर्गाण्यतितरत्याशु पुरुषः पुरुषोत्तमम् ।
स्तुवन्नामसहस्रेण नित्यं भक्तिसमन्वितः ॥१२९॥
129. durgāṇyatitaratyāśu puruṣaḥ puruṣottamam ,
stuvannāmasahasreṇa nityaṁ bhaktisamanvitaḥ.
129. durgāṇi atitarati āśu puruṣaḥ puruṣottamam
stuvan nāma sahasreṇa nityam bhakti samanvitaḥ
129. nityam bhakti samanvitaḥ puruṣaḥ nāmasahasreṇa
puruṣottamam stuvan āśu durgāṇi atitarati
129. A person, endowed with constant devotion (bhakti) and praising the Supreme Person (puruṣottama) with a thousand names, quickly overcomes all difficulties.
वासुदेवाश्रयो मर्त्यो वासुदेवपरायणः ।
सर्वपापविशुद्धात्मा याति ब्रह्म सनातनम् ॥१३०॥
130. vāsudevāśrayo martyo vāsudevaparāyaṇaḥ ,
sarvapāpaviśuddhātmā yāti brahma sanātanam.
130. vāsudeva āśrayaḥ martyaḥ vāsudeva parāyaṇaḥ
sarva pāpa viśuddha ātma yāti brahma sanātanam
130. vāsudeva āśrayaḥ vāsudeva parāyaṇaḥ
sarvapāpaviśuddhātma martyaḥ sanātanam brahma yāti
130. A mortal whose refuge (āśraya) is Vāsudeva and who is exclusively devoted (parāyaṇa) to Vāsudeva, with a soul completely purified from all sins, attains the eternal absolute (brahman).
न वासुदेवभक्तानामशुभं विद्यते क्वचित् ।
जन्ममृत्युजराव्याधिभयं वाप्युपजायते ॥१३१॥
131. na vāsudevabhaktānāmaśubhaṁ vidyate kvacit ,
janmamṛtyujarāvyādhibhayaṁ vāpyupajāyate.
131. na vāsudevabhaktānām aśubham vidyate kvacit
janmamṛtyujarāvyādhibhayam vā api upajāyate
131. vāsudevabhaktānām kvacit aśubham na vidyate
vā api janmamṛtyujarāvyādhibhayam upajāyate
131. No misfortune ever befalls the devotees of Vāsudeva (Kṛṣṇa). Nor does the fear of birth, death, old age, or disease arise for them.
इमं स्तवमधीयानः श्रद्धाभक्तिसमन्वितः ।
युज्येतात्मसुखक्षान्तिश्रीधृतिस्मृतिकीर्तिभिः ॥१३२॥
132. imaṁ stavamadhīyānaḥ śraddhābhaktisamanvitaḥ ,
yujyetātmasukhakṣāntiśrīdhṛtismṛtikīrtibhiḥ.
132. imam stavam adhīyānaḥ śraddhābhaktisamanvitaḥ
yujyeta ātmasukhakṣāntiśrīdhṛtismṛtikīrtibhiḥ
132. śraddhābhaktisamanvitaḥ imam stavam adhīyānaḥ
ātmasukhakṣāntiśrīdhṛtismṛtikīrtibhiḥ yujyeta
132. One who studies this hymn, endowed with faith (śraddhā) and devotion (bhakti), becomes endowed with inner happiness, patience, prosperity, steadfastness, memory, and fame.
न क्रोधो न च मात्सर्यं न लोभो नाशुभा मतिः ।
भवन्ति कृतपुण्यानां भक्तानां पुरुषोत्तमे ॥१३३॥
133. na krodho na ca mātsaryaṁ na lobho nāśubhā matiḥ ,
bhavanti kṛtapuṇyānāṁ bhaktānāṁ puruṣottame.
133. na krodhaḥ na ca mātsaryam na lobhaḥ na aśubhā
matiḥ bhavanti kṛtapuṇyānām bhaktānām puruṣottame
133. puruṣottame kṛtapuṇyānām bhaktānām krodhaḥ na

133. Neither anger, nor envy, nor greed, nor inauspicious thoughts arise in the devotees who have accumulated merit (puṇya) and are dedicated to the Supreme Person (puruṣottama).
द्यौः सचन्द्रार्कनक्षत्रा खं दिशो भूर्महोदधिः ।
वासुदेवस्य वीर्येण विधृतानि महात्मनः ॥१३४॥
134. dyauḥ sacandrārkanakṣatrā khaṁ diśo bhūrmahodadhiḥ ,
vāsudevasya vīryeṇa vidhṛtāni mahātmanaḥ.

mahodadhiḥ vāsudevasya vīryeṇa vidhṛtāni mahātmanaḥ

134. The heavens along with the moon, sun, and stars; the atmosphere; the directions; the earth; and the great ocean are all sustained by the power of Vāsudeva (Kṛṣṇa), the great soul (mahātman).
ससुरासुरगन्धर्वं सयक्षोरगराक्षसम् ।
जगद्वशे वर्ततेदं कृष्णस्य सचराचरम् ॥१३५॥
135. sasurāsuragandharvaṁ sayakṣoragarākṣasam ,
jagadvaśe vartatedaṁ kṛṣṇasya sacarācaram.
135. sa-sura-asura-gandharvam sa-yakṣa-uraga-rākṣasam
jagat vaśe vartate idam kṛṣṇasya sa-cara-acaram
135. idam jagat sa-sura-asura-gandharvam sa-yakṣa-uraga-rākṣasam
sa-cara-acaram kṛṣṇasya vaśe vartate
135. This world, including gods, demons, and gandharvas; along with yakṣas, serpents, and rākṣasas; consisting of both moving and non-moving beings, remains under the control of Kṛṣṇa.
इन्द्रियाणि मनो बुद्धिः सत्त्वं तेजो बलं धृतिः ।
वासुदेवात्मकान्याहुः क्षेत्रं क्षेत्रज्ञ एव च ॥१३६॥
136. indriyāṇi mano buddhiḥ sattvaṁ tejo balaṁ dhṛtiḥ ,
vāsudevātmakānyāhuḥ kṣetraṁ kṣetrajña eva ca.
136. indriyāṇi manaḥ buddhiḥ sattvam tejaḥ balam dhṛtiḥ
vāsudevātmakāni āhuḥ kṣetram kṣetrajñaḥ eva ca
136. indriyāṇi manaḥ buddhiḥ sattvam tejaḥ balam dhṛtiḥ
kṣetram kṣetrajñaḥ eva ca vāsudevātmakāni āhuḥ
136. They declare that the senses, mind, intellect, purity (sattva), vigor, strength, and fortitude are all manifestations of Vāsudeva. Also, the field (kṣetra) and the knower of the field (kṣetrajña) are indeed of His nature.
सर्वागमानामाचारः प्रथमं परिकल्प्यते ।
आचारप्रभवो धर्मो धर्मस्य प्रभुरच्युतः ॥१३७॥
137. sarvāgamānāmācāraḥ prathamaṁ parikalpyate ,
ācāraprabhavo dharmo dharmasya prabhuracyutaḥ.

137. Right conduct (ācāra) is considered foremost among all sacred texts (āgamas). Natural law (dharma) arises from such conduct, and Acyuta (Kṛṣṇa) is the lord of that natural law (dharma).
ऋषयः पितरो देवा महाभूतानि धातवः ।
जङ्गमाजङ्गमं चेदं जगन्नारायणोद्भवम् ॥१३८॥
138. ṛṣayaḥ pitaro devā mahābhūtāni dhātavaḥ ,
jaṅgamājaṅgamaṁ cedaṁ jagannārāyaṇodbhavam.
138. ṛṣayaḥ pitaraḥ devāḥ mahābhūtāni dhātavaḥ |
jaṅgama-ajaṅgamam ca idam jagat nārāyaṇodbhavam
138. ṛṣayaḥ pitaraḥ devāḥ mahābhūtāni dhātavaḥ ca
idam jaṅgama-ajaṅgamam jagat nārāyaṇodbhavam
138. Sages, ancestors, gods, the great elements, and the bodily constituents; and this entire world, both moving and non-moving, all originate from Nārāyaṇa.
योगो ज्ञानं तथा सांख्यं विद्याः शिल्पानि कर्म च ।
वेदाः शास्त्राणि विज्ञानमेतत्सर्वं जनार्दनात् ॥१३९॥
139. yogo jñānaṁ tathā sāṁkhyaṁ vidyāḥ śilpāni karma ca ,
vedāḥ śāstrāṇi vijñānametatsarvaṁ janārdanāt.

ca vedāḥ śāstrāṇi vijñānam etat sarvam janārdanāt

139. Yoga (yoga), knowledge, and Sāṅkhya philosophy; the various sciences, arts, and actions (karma); the Vedas, other scriptures, and spiritual knowledge (vijñāna) - all this comes from Janārdana (Vishnu).
एको विष्णुर्महद्भूतं पृथग्भूतान्यनेकशः ।
त्रीँल्लोकान्व्याप्य भूतात्मा भुङ्क्ते विश्वभुगव्ययः ॥१४०॥
140. eko viṣṇurmahadbhūtaṁ pṛthagbhūtānyanekaśaḥ ,
trīँllokānvyāpya bhūtātmā bhuṅkte viśvabhugavyayaḥ.
140. ekaḥ viṣṇuḥ mahat bhūtam pṛthak bhūtāni anekaśaḥ
trīn lokān vyāpya bhūtātmā bhuṅkte viśvabhuk avyayaḥ
140. ekaḥ viṣṇuḥ mahat bhūtam pṛthak bhūtāni anekaśaḥ
trīn lokān vyāpya bhūtātmā viśvabhuk avyayaḥ bhuṅkte
140. The one Vishnu is the great being (bhūta), who also exists as many separate beings. Pervading the three worlds, the indwelling spirit (bhūtātman) enjoys and sustains the entire universe (viśva), being imperishable.
इमं स्तवं भगवतो विष्णोर्व्यासेन कीर्तितम् ।
पठेद्य इच्छेत्पुरुषः श्रेयः प्राप्तुं सुखानि च ॥१४१॥
141. imaṁ stavaṁ bhagavato viṣṇorvyāsena kīrtitam ,
paṭhedya icchetpuruṣaḥ śreyaḥ prāptuṁ sukhāni ca.
141. imam stavam bhagavataḥ viṣṇoḥ vyāsena kīrtitam
paṭhet yaḥ icchet puruṣaḥ śreyaḥ prāptum sukhāni ca
141. yaḥ puruṣaḥ śreyaḥ sukhāni ca prāptum icchet imam
stavam bhagavataḥ viṣṇoḥ vyāsena kīrtitam paṭhet
141. Any person who wishes to attain ultimate good (śreyas) and happiness should recite this hymn of the divine Lord Vishnu, as narrated by Vyāsa.
विश्वेश्वरमजं देवं जगतः प्रभवाप्ययम् ।
भजन्ति ये पुष्कराक्षं न ते यान्ति पराभवम् ॥१४२॥
142. viśveśvaramajaṁ devaṁ jagataḥ prabhavāpyayam ,
bhajanti ye puṣkarākṣaṁ na te yānti parābhavam.
142. viśveśvaram ajam devam jagataḥ prabhavāpyayam
bhajanti ye puṣkarākṣam na te yānti parābhavam
142. ye ajam devam viśveśvaram jagataḥ prabhavāpyayam
puṣkarākṣam bhajanti te na parābhavam yānti
142. Those who worship the lotus-eyed one (Puṣkarākṣa) - the unborn, divine Lord of the universe (viśveśvara), who is the origin and dissolution of the cosmos (jagat) - they never experience defeat.
