Bhishma said: "O great King, all five sons of Draupadi are great chariot warriors. Furthermore, Uttara, son of Virata, is also considered by me to be a great charioteer."

"O great King, Abhimanyu is a commander among commanders of chariots. In battle, he would be equal to Arjuna or Krishna."
लघ्वस्त्रश्चित्रयोधी च मनस्वी दृढविक्रमः ।
संस्मरन्वै परिक्लेशं स्वपितुर्विक्रमिष्यति ॥३॥

"He is skilled with light weapons, fights wonderfully, is resolute, and of firm valor. Remembering the great suffering of his own father, he will display great courage."

"This Satyaki, a descendant of Madhu (mādhava), is a heroic commander among commanders of chariots. He is one of the foremost among the Vrishni heroes, unyielding and having conquered all fear."
उत्तमौजास्तथा राजन्रथो मम महान्मतः ।
युधामन्युश्च विक्रान्तो रथोदारो नरर्षभः ॥५॥

And similarly, O King (rājan), Uttamaujas, whose chariot (rathaḥ) I consider (mataḥ) great (mahān), and Yudhamanyu, the valorous (vikrāntaḥ) best among men (nararṣabhaḥ), a splendid charioteer.
एतेषां बहुसाहस्रा रथा नागा हयास्तथा ।
योत्स्यन्ते ते तनुं त्यक्त्वा कुन्तीपुत्रप्रियेप्सया ॥६॥

6. eteṣāṁ bahusāhasrā rathā nāgā hayāstathā ,
yotsyante te tanuṁ tyaktvā kuntīputrapriyepsayā.

And of these (warriors), many thousands of charioteers, elephant riders, and cavalry (hayāḥ) will fight (yotsyante), abandoning (tyaktvā) their bodies (tanum), with the desire to please the son of Kunti (Arjuna).
पाण्डवैः सह राजेन्द्र तव सेनासु भारत ।
अग्निमारुतवद्राजन्नाह्वयन्तः परस्परम् ॥७॥

7. pāṇḍavaiḥ saha rājendra tava senāsu bhārata ,

O King of kings (rājendra), O descendant of Bharata (bhārata), they will challenge each other in your armies, alongside the Pandavas, like fire (agni) and wind (māruta), O King (rājan).
अजेयौ समरे वृद्धौ विराटद्रुपदावुभौ ।
महारथौ महावीर्यौ मतौ मे पुरुषर्षभौ ॥८॥

8. ajeyau samare vṛddhau virāṭadrupadāvubhau ,
mahārathau mahāvīryau matau me puruṣarṣabhau.

Both Virata and Drupada, who are aged (vṛddhau), unconquerable (ajeyau) in battle (samare), great charioteers (mahārathau), and mighty (mahāvīryau) best among men (puruṣarṣabhau), are considered (matau) so by me (me).
वयोवृद्धावपि तु तौ क्षत्रधर्मपरायणौ ।
यतिष्येते परं शक्त्या स्थितौ वीरगते पथि ॥९॥

9. vayovṛddhāvapi tu tau kṣatradharmaparāyaṇau ,
yatiṣyete paraṁ śaktyā sthitau vīragate pathi.

Although they are aged, those two, devoted to the warrior's natural law (kṣatradharma), will strive with utmost strength, abiding on the path trodden by heroes.
संबन्धकेन राजेन्द्र तौ तु वीर्यबलान्वयात् ।
आर्यवृत्तौ महेष्वासौ स्नेहपाशसितावुभौ ॥१०॥

10. saṁbandhakena rājendra tau tu vīryabalānvayāt ,
āryavṛttau maheṣvāsau snehapāśasitāvubhau.

O king (rājendra)! Through family connection, those two, endowed with valor and strength, of noble conduct, and great archers, are both bound by ties of affection.
कारणं प्राप्य तु नराः सर्व एव महाभुजाः ।
शूरा वा कातरा वापि भवन्ति नरपुंगव ॥११॥

11. kāraṇaṁ prāpya tu narāḥ sarva eva mahābhujāḥ ,
śūrā vā kātarā vāpi bhavanti narapuṁgava.

kāraṇam prāpya tu narāḥ sarve eva mahābhujāḥ
śūrāḥ vā kātarāḥ vā api bhavanti narapuṅgava

narapuṅgava tu sarve eva mahābhujāḥ narāḥ
kāraṇam prāpya vā śūrāḥ vā api kātarāḥ bhavanti
kāraṇam prāpya vā śūrāḥ vā api kātarāḥ bhavanti
11.
O best among men (narapuṅgava)! All men, whether mighty-armed, brave, or even cowardly, become so when they find a cause.
एकायनगतावेतौ पार्थेन दृढभक्तिकौ ।
त्यक्त्वा प्राणान्परं शक्त्या घटितारौ नराधिप ॥१२॥

12. ekāyanagatāvetau pārthena dṛḍhabhaktikau ,
tyaktvā prāṇānparaṁ śaktyā ghaṭitārau narādhipa.

O king (narādhipa)! These two, having adopted a single path and possessing firm devotion (bhakti), will strive with utmost strength, giving up their lives for Pārtha.
पृथगक्षौहिणीभ्यां तावुभौ संयति दारुणौ ।
संबन्धिभावं रक्षन्तौ महत्कर्म करिष्यतः ॥१३॥

13. pṛthagakṣauhiṇībhyāṁ tāvubhau saṁyati dāruṇau ,
saṁbandhibhāvaṁ rakṣantau mahatkarma kariṣyataḥ.

pṛthak akṣauhiṇībhyām tau ubhau saṃyati dāruṇau
sambandhibhāvaṃ rakṣantau mahat karma kariṣyataḥ
sambandhibhāvaṃ rakṣantau mahat karma kariṣyataḥ
13.
tau ubhau saṃyati dāruṇau pṛthak akṣauhiṇībhyām
sambandhibhāvaṃ rakṣantau mahat karma kariṣyataḥ
sambandhibhāvaṃ rakṣantau mahat karma kariṣyataḥ
13.
Both of them, fierce in battle and each commanding an akṣauhiṇī (army division), will perform great deeds while maintaining their family relationship.
लोकवीरौ महेष्वासौ त्यक्तात्मानौ च भारत ।
प्रत्ययं परिरक्षन्तौ महत्कर्म करिष्यतः ॥१४॥

14. lokavīrau maheṣvāsau tyaktātmānau ca bhārata ,
pratyayaṁ parirakṣantau mahatkarma kariṣyataḥ.

O Bhārata, both these heroes of the world, great archers who are self-sacrificing, will perform great deeds while upholding their conviction.
