From all sides, the warriors, seeing those two who were like great elephants among fighters, indeed, both your people and the others then exclaimed, 'Excellent! Excellent!'

Indeed, no one other than the king of Madras (Madrarāja), or Rāma, or the delight of the Yadus (Balarāma), is able to endure Bhimasena's might in battle.

Similarly, in battle, no other warrior (yodha) except Vṛkodara (Bhīma) is able to endure the mace's might of the great-souled (mahātman) king of Madras (Madrarāja).

Those two, Madrarāja and Vṛkodara (Bhīma), holding maces in their hands, roaring like two bulls, and leaping, moved about in circles.

In the paths of circular maneuvers and in the wielding of their maces, the battle between those two mighty warriors was indistinguishable.

That mace (gadā) of Shalya, adorned with brilliant, molten gold plates and appearing as if pierced by flames of fire, became a terrifying sight.

Similarly, as the great warrior (mahātman) moved in circular paths, Bhima's mace (gadā) shone splendidly, resembling lightning and a cloud.
