ततो युधिष्ठिरो राजा रथादाप्लुत्य भारत ।
पर्यष्वजत्तदा कृष्णावानन्दाश्रुपरिप्लुतः ॥१॥

tato yudhiṣṭhiro rājā rathādāplutya bhārata ,
paryaṣvajattadā kṛṣṇāvānandāśrupariplutaḥ.

1. Sanjaya said: Then, King Yudhiṣṭhira, O Bhārata, having jumped down from his chariot, then embraced the two Kṛṣṇas (Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna), drenched in tears of joy.
प्रमृज्य वदनं शुभ्रं पुण्डरीकसमप्रभम् ।
अब्रवीद्वासुदेवं च पाण्डवं च धनंजयम् ॥२॥
2. pramṛjya vadanaṁ śubhraṁ puṇḍarīkasamaprabham ,
abravīdvāsudevaṁ ca pāṇḍavaṁ ca dhanaṁjayam.

2. Having wiped his bright face, which shone like a lotus, he spoke to Vasudeva (Kṛṣṇa) and to the Pāṇḍava, Dhanaṃjaya (Arjuna).
दिष्ट्या पश्यामि संग्रामे तीर्णभारौ महारथौ ।
दिष्ट्या च निहतः पापः सैन्धवः पुरुषाधमः ॥३॥
3. diṣṭyā paśyāmi saṁgrāme tīrṇabhārau mahārathau ,
diṣṭyā ca nihataḥ pāpaḥ saindhavaḥ puruṣādhamaḥ.

diṣṭyā ca nihataḥ pāpaḥ saindhavaḥ puruṣādhamaḥ

3. Fortunately, I see the two great warriors (Arjuna and Kṛṣṇa) relieved of their burden in battle. And fortunately, the wicked Saindhava (Jayadratha), that wretch among men, has been slain.
कृष्ण दिष्ट्या मम प्रीतिर्महती प्रतिपादिता ।
दिष्ट्या शत्रुगणाश्चैव निमग्नाः शोकसागरे ॥४॥
4. kṛṣṇa diṣṭyā mama prītirmahatī pratipāditā ,
diṣṭyā śatrugaṇāścaiva nimagnāḥ śokasāgare.
4. kṛṣṇa diṣṭyā mama prītiḥ mahatī pratipāditā
diṣṭyā śatrugaṇāḥ ca eva nimagnāḥ śokasāgare
4. kṛṣṇa diṣṭyā mama mahatī prītiḥ pratipāditā (asti),
ca eva diṣṭyā śatrugaṇāḥ śokasāgare nimagnāḥ (santi)
4. O Kṛṣṇa, fortunately, my immense joy has been brought about! And fortunately, the hordes of enemies have indeed plunged into an ocean of sorrow.
न तेषां दुष्करं किंचित्त्रिषु लोकेषु विद्यते ।
सर्वलोकगुरुर्येषां त्वं नाथो मधुसूदन ॥५॥
5. na teṣāṁ duṣkaraṁ kiṁcittriṣu lokeṣu vidyate ,
sarvalokagururyeṣāṁ tvaṁ nātho madhusūdana.
5. na teṣāṃ duṣkaraṃ kiṃcit triṣu lokeṣu vidyate
sarvalokaguruḥ yeṣāṃ tvaṃ nāthaḥ madhusūdana
5. madhusūdana (he) yeṣāṃ tvaṃ sarvalokaguruḥ nāthaḥ (asi),
teṣāṃ triṣu lokeṣu kiṃcit duṣkaraṃ na vidyate
5. For them, nothing is difficult to accomplish in the three worlds, O Madhusūdana (Kṛṣṇa), because you are their protector and the preceptor (guru) of all worlds.
तव प्रसादाद्गोविन्द वयं जेष्यामहे रिपून् ।
यथा पूर्वं प्रसादात्ते दानवान्पाकशासनः ॥६॥
6. tava prasādādgovinda vayaṁ jeṣyāmahe ripūn ,
yathā pūrvaṁ prasādātte dānavānpākaśāsanaḥ.
6. tava prasādāt govinda vayam jeṣyāmahe ripūn
yathā pūrvam prasādāt te dānavān pākaśāsanaḥ
6. govinda tava prasādāt vayam ripūn jeṣyāmahe
yathā pūrvam pākaśāsanaḥ te prasādāt dānavān
6. O Govinda, by your grace we shall conquer our enemies, just as Indra, by your grace, formerly conquered the Dānavas.
पृथिवीविजयो वापि त्रैलोक्यविजयोऽपि वा ।
ध्रुवो हि तेषां वार्ष्णेय येषां तुष्टोऽसि माधव ॥७॥
7. pṛthivīvijayo vāpi trailokyavijayo'pi vā ,
dhruvo hi teṣāṁ vārṣṇeya yeṣāṁ tuṣṭo'si mādhava.
7. pṛthivīvijayaḥ vā api trailokyavijayaḥ api vā
dhruvaḥ hi teṣām vārṣṇeya yeṣām tuṣṭaḥ asi mādhava
7. vārṣṇeya mādhava yeṣām tvam tuṣṭaḥ asi teṣām
pṛthivīvijayaḥ vā api vā trailokyavijayaḥ api hi dhruvaḥ
7. O Vārṣṇeya, O Mādhava, for those with whom you are pleased, the conquest of the earth, or even the conquest of the three worlds, is indeed certain.
न तेषां विद्यते पापं संग्रामे वा पराजयः ।
त्रिदशेश्वरनाथस्त्वं येषां तुष्टोऽसि माधव ॥८॥
8. na teṣāṁ vidyate pāpaṁ saṁgrāme vā parājayaḥ ,
tridaśeśvaranāthastvaṁ yeṣāṁ tuṣṭo'si mādhava.
8. na teṣām vidyate pāpam saṃgrāme vā parājayaḥ
tridaśeśvaranāthaḥ tvam yeṣām tuṣṭaḥ asi mādhava
8. mādhava yeṣām tvam tuṣṭaḥ asi teṣām pāpam na vidyate
vā saṃgrāme parājayaḥ tvam tridaśeśvaranāthaḥ
8. O Mādhava, for those with whom you are pleased, there is neither sin nor defeat in battle. You are the lord of the rulers of the gods.
त्वत्प्रसादाद्धृषीकेश शक्रः सुरगणेश्वरः ।
त्रैलोक्यविजयं श्रीमान्प्राप्तवान्रणमूर्धनि ॥९॥
9. tvatprasādāddhṛṣīkeśa śakraḥ suragaṇeśvaraḥ ,
trailokyavijayaṁ śrīmānprāptavānraṇamūrdhani.
9. tvat prasādāt hṛṣīkeśa śakraḥ suragaṇeśvaraḥ
trailokyavijayam śrīmān prāptavān raṇamūrdhani
9. hṛṣīkeśa tvat prasādāt śrīmān suragaṇeśvaraḥ
śakraḥ raṇamūrdhani trailokyavijayam prāptavān
9. O Hṛṣīkeśa, by your grace, the glorious Indra, lord of the hosts of gods, achieved the conquest of the three worlds at the forefront of battle.
तव चैव प्रसादेन त्रिदशास्त्रिदशेश्वर ।
अमरत्वं गताः कृष्ण लोकांश्चाश्नुवतेऽक्षयान् ॥१०॥
10. tava caiva prasādena tridaśāstridaśeśvara ,
amaratvaṁ gatāḥ kṛṣṇa lokāṁścāśnuvate'kṣayān.
10. tava ca eva prasādena tridaśāḥ tridaśeśvara
kṛṣṇa amaratvaṃ gatāḥ lokān ca aśnuvate akṣayān
10. kṛṣṇa tridaśeśvara tava ca eva prasādena tridaśāḥ
amaratvaṃ gatāḥ ca akṣayān lokān aśnuvate
10. O Krishna, Lord of the gods, it is indeed by your favor (prasāda) that the gods have attained immortality and enjoy imperishable worlds.
त्वत्प्रसादसमुत्थेन विक्रमेणारिसूदन ।
सुरेशत्वं गतः शक्रो हत्वा दैत्यान्सहस्रशः ॥११॥
11. tvatprasādasamutthena vikrameṇārisūdana ,
sureśatvaṁ gataḥ śakro hatvā daityānsahasraśaḥ.
11. tvatprasādasamutthena vikrameṇa arisūdana śakraḥ
sureśatvaṃ gataḥ hatvā daityān sahasraśaḥ
11. arisūdana śakraḥ sahasraśaḥ daityān hatvā
sureśatvaṃ gataḥ tvatprasādasamutthena vikrameṇa
11. O Destroyer of foes, Indra attained his lordship over the gods by the valor (vikrama) that arose from your favor (prasāda), having slain thousands of demons.
त्वत्प्रसादाद्धृषीकेश जगत्स्थावरजङ्गमम् ।
स्ववर्त्मनि स्थितं वीर जपहोमेषु वर्तते ॥१२॥
12. tvatprasādāddhṛṣīkeśa jagatsthāvarajaṅgamam ,
svavartmani sthitaṁ vīra japahomeṣu vartate.
12. tvatprasādāt hṛṣīkeśa jagatsthāvarajaṅgamam
svavartmani sthitaṃ vīra japahomeṣu vartate
12. hṛṣīkeśa vīra tvatprasādāt jagatsthāvarajaṅgamam
svavartmani sthitaṃ japahomeṣu vartate
12. O Hrishikesha, O hero, by your favor (prasāda), this entire world, both moving and stationary, remains situated on its proper course and proceeds through acts of recitation (japa) and fire sacrifice (homa).
एकार्णवमिदं पूर्वं सर्वमासीत्तमोमयम् ।
त्वत्प्रसादात्प्रकाशत्वं जगत्प्राप्तं नरोत्तम ॥१३॥
13. ekārṇavamidaṁ pūrvaṁ sarvamāsīttamomayam ,
tvatprasādātprakāśatvaṁ jagatprāptaṁ narottama.
13. ekārṇavam idaṃ pūrvaṃ sarvam āsīt tamomayam
tvatprasādāt prakāśatvaṃ jagat prāptaṃ narottama
13. narottama pūrvaṃ idaṃ sarvam ekārṇavam tamomayam
āsīt tvatprasādāt jagat prakāśatvaṃ prāptaṃ
13. O Best among men, formerly this entire world was a single ocean, enveloped in darkness. By your favor (prasāda), the world has attained luminosity.
स्रष्टारं सर्वलोकानां परमात्मानमच्युतम् ।
ये प्रपन्ना हृषीकेशं न ते मुह्यन्ति कर्हिचित् ॥१४॥
14. sraṣṭāraṁ sarvalokānāṁ paramātmānamacyutam ,
ye prapannā hṛṣīkeśaṁ na te muhyanti karhicit.
14. sraṣṭāram sarvalokānām paramātmānam acyutam ye
prapannāḥ hṛṣīkeśam na te muhyanti karhicit
14. ye sraṣṭāram sarvalokānām paramātmānam acyutam
hṛṣīkeśam prapannāḥ te karhicit na muhyanti
14. Those who have taken refuge in Hrishikesha, the creator of all worlds, the infallible Supreme Self (paramātman), they are never deluded.
अनादिनिधनं देवं लोककर्तारमव्ययम् ।
त्वां भक्ता ये हृषीकेश दुर्गाण्यतितरन्ति ते ॥१५॥
15. anādinidhanaṁ devaṁ lokakartāramavyayam ,
tvāṁ bhaktā ye hṛṣīkeśa durgāṇyatitaranti te.
15. anādinidhanam devam lokakartāram avyayam tvām
bhaktāḥ ye hṛṣīkeśa durgāṇi atitaranti te
15. hṛṣīkeśa ye bhaktāḥ anādinidhanam devam
lokakartāram avyayam tvām durgāṇi atitaranti te
15. O Hrishikesha, those devotees (bhakti) who take refuge in you – the divine, immutable creator of the worlds, who is without beginning or end – they overcome all difficulties.
परं पुराणं पुरुषं पुराणानां परं च यत् ।
प्रपद्यतस्तं परमं परा भूतिर्विधीयते ॥१६॥
16. paraṁ purāṇaṁ puruṣaṁ purāṇānāṁ paraṁ ca yat ,
prapadyatastaṁ paramaṁ parā bhūtirvidhīyate.
16. param purāṇam puruṣam purāṇānām param ca yat
prapadyataḥ tam paramam parā bhūtiḥ vidhīyate
16. yat param purāṇam puruṣam ca purāṇānām param
tam paramam prapadyataḥ parā bhūtiḥ vidhīyate
16. To one who takes refuge in that supreme, ancient Person (puruṣa), who is indeed the highest even among all ancient things, supreme prosperity is bestowed.
योऽगात चतुरो वेदान्यश्च वेदेषु गीयते ।
तं प्रपद्य महात्मानं भूतिमाप्नोत्यनुत्तमाम् ॥१७॥
17. yo'gāta caturo vedānyaśca vedeṣu gīyate ,
taṁ prapadya mahātmānaṁ bhūtimāpnotyanuttamām.
17. yaḥ agāt caturaḥ vedān yaḥ ca vedeṣu gīyate
tam prapadya mahātmānam bhūtim āpnoti anuttamām
17. yaḥ caturaḥ vedān agāt ca yaḥ vedeṣu gīyate
tam mahātmānam prapadya anuttamām bhūtim āpnoti
17. Having taken refuge in that great Self (ātman) who mastered the four Vedas and who is praised in the Vedas, one attains unsurpassed prosperity.
धनंजयसखा यश्च धनंजयहितश्च यः ।
तं धनंजयगोप्तारं प्रपद्य सुखमेधते ॥१८॥
18. dhanaṁjayasakhā yaśca dhanaṁjayahitaśca yaḥ ,
taṁ dhanaṁjayagoptāraṁ prapadya sukhamedhate.
18. dhanañjayasakhā yaḥ ca dhanañjayahitaḥ ca yaḥ
tam dhanañjayagoptāram prapadya sukham edhate
18. yaḥ dhanañjayasakhā ca yaḥ dhanañjayahitaḥ ca
tam dhanañjayagoptāram prapadya sukham edhate
18. Whoever is a friend of Dhananjaya (Arjuna) and whoever is beneficial to Dhananjaya; by taking refuge in him, the protector of Dhananjaya, one attains happiness.
इत्युक्तौ तौ महात्मानावुभौ केशवपाण्डवौ ।
तावब्रूतां तदा हृष्टौ राजानं पृथिवीपतिम् ॥१९॥
19. ityuktau tau mahātmānāvubhau keśavapāṇḍavau ,
tāvabrūtāṁ tadā hṛṣṭau rājānaṁ pṛthivīpatim.
19. iti uktau tau mahātmānau ubhau keśavapāṇḍavau
tau abrūtām tadā hṛṣṭau rājānam pṛthivīpatim
19. iti uktau,
ubhau tau mahātmānau keśavapāṇḍavau,
tadā hṛṣṭau,
rājānam pṛthivīpatim abrūtām
19. Thus spoken to, those two great souls (mahātmānau), both Keśava (Krishna) and Pāṇḍava (Arjuna), then, delighted, spoke to the king, the lord of the earth.
तव कोपाग्निना दग्धः पापो राजा जयद्रथः ।
उदीर्णं चापि सुमहद्धार्तराष्ट्रबलं रणे ॥२०॥
20. tava kopāgninā dagdhaḥ pāpo rājā jayadrathaḥ ,
udīrṇaṁ cāpi sumahaddhārtarāṣṭrabalaṁ raṇe.
20. tava kopāgninā dagdhaḥ pāpaḥ rājā jayadrathaḥ
udīrṇam ca api sumahat dhārtarāṣṭrabalam raṇe
20. tava kopāgninā pāpaḥ rājā jayadrathaḥ dagdhaḥ
ca api raṇe sumahat dhārtarāṣṭrabalam udīrṇam
20. By your fire of wrath, the sinful King Jayadratha has been consumed. And also, the very mighty army of Dhritarashtra has been roused in battle.
हन्यते निहतं चैव विनङ्क्ष्यति च भारत ।
तव क्रोधहता ह्येते कौरवाः शत्रुसूदन ॥२१॥
21. hanyate nihataṁ caiva vinaṅkṣyati ca bhārata ,
tava krodhahatā hyete kauravāḥ śatrusūdana.
21. hanyate nihatam ca eva vinaṅkṣyati ca bhārata
tava krodhahatāḥ hi ete kauravāḥ śatrusūdana
21. bhārata,
(tat balam) hanyate ca eva nihatam ca vinaṅkṣyati.
śatrusūdana,
hi ete kauravāḥ tava krodhahatāḥ.
21. O Bhārata, (that army) is being destroyed and will indeed be annihilated. These Kauravas are surely consumed by your wrath, O slayer of enemies (śatrusūdana).
त्वां हि चक्षुर्हणं वीरं कोपयित्वा सुयोधनः ।
समित्रबन्धुः समरे प्राणांस्त्यक्ष्यति दुर्मतिः ॥२२॥
22. tvāṁ hi cakṣurhaṇaṁ vīraṁ kopayitvā suyodhanaḥ ,
samitrabandhuḥ samare prāṇāṁstyakṣyati durmatiḥ.
22. tvām hi cakṣurhaṇam vīram kopayitvā suyodhanaḥ
samitrabandhuḥ samare prāṇān tyakṣyati durmatiḥ
22. durmatiḥ suyodhanaḥ tvām vīram cakṣurhaṇam
kopayitvā hi samitrabandhuḥ samare prāṇān tyakṣyati
22. Indeed, the evil-minded Suyodhana, having provoked you, the hero whose very gaze is destructive, will give up his life along with his friends and relatives in battle.
तव क्रोधहतः पूर्वं देवैरपि सुदुर्जयः ।
शरतल्पगतः शेते भीष्मः कुरुपितामहः ॥२३॥
23. tava krodhahataḥ pūrvaṁ devairapi sudurjayaḥ ,
śaratalpagataḥ śete bhīṣmaḥ kurupitāmahaḥ.
23. tava krodhahataḥ pūrvam devaiḥ api sudurjayaḥ
śaratpalpagataḥ śete bhīṣmaḥ kurupitāmahaḥ
23. pūrvam devaiḥ api sudurjayaḥ kurupitāmahaḥ
bhīṣmaḥ tava krodhahataḥ śaratpalpagataḥ śete
23. Even Bhishma, the grandsire of the Kurus, who was formerly unconquerable even by the gods, now lies on a bed of arrows, slain by your wrath.
दुर्लभो हि जयस्तेषां संग्रामे रिपुसूदन ।
याता मृत्युवशं ते वै येषां क्रुद्धोऽसि पाण्डव ॥२४॥
24. durlabho hi jayasteṣāṁ saṁgrāme ripusūdana ,
yātā mṛtyuvaśaṁ te vai yeṣāṁ kruddho'si pāṇḍava.
24. durlabhaḥ hi jayaḥ teṣām saṃgrāme ripusūdana
yātāḥ mṛtyuvaśam te vai yeṣām kruddhaḥ asi pāṇḍava
24. ripusūdana pāṇḍava yeṣām tvam kruddhaḥ asi teṣām
saṃgrāme jayaḥ hi durlabhaḥ te vai mṛtyuvaśam yātāḥ
24. O slayer of enemies, O son of Pāṇḍu, victory in battle is indeed unattainable for those against whom you are angry; they are surely destined for the grasp of death.
राज्यं प्राणाः प्रियाः पुत्राः सौख्यानि विविधानि च ।
अचिरात्तस्य नश्यन्ति येषां क्रुद्धोऽसि मानद ॥२५॥
25. rājyaṁ prāṇāḥ priyāḥ putrāḥ saukhyāni vividhāni ca ,
acirāttasya naśyanti yeṣāṁ kruddho'si mānada.
25. rājyam prāṇāḥ priyāḥ putrāḥ saukhyāni vividhāni ca
acirāt tasya naśyanti yeṣām kruddhaḥ asi mānada
25. mānada yeṣām tvam kruddhaḥ asi tasya rājyam prāṇāḥ
priyāḥ putrāḥ ca vividhāni saukhyāni acirāt naśyanti
25. O giver of honor, the kingdom, lives, beloved sons, and all various joys of those against whom you are angry quickly perish.
विनष्टान्कौरवान्मन्ये सपुत्रपशुबान्धवान् ।
राजधर्मपरे नित्यं त्वयि क्रुद्धे युधिष्ठिर ॥२६॥
26. vinaṣṭānkauravānmanye saputrapaśubāndhavān ,
rājadharmapare nityaṁ tvayi kruddhe yudhiṣṭhira.
26. vinaṣṭān kauravān manye saputrapaśubāndhavān
rājadharmapare nityaṃ tvayi kruddhe yudhiṣṭhira
26. yudhiṣṭhira nityaṃ rājadharmapare tvayi kruddhe
saputrapaśubāndhavān kauravān vinaṣṭān manye
26. I consider the Kauravas, along with their sons, animals, and relatives, to be utterly destroyed, O Yudhishthira, when you, who are always dedicated to the natural law (dharma) of a king, become angry.
ततो भीमो महाबाहुः सात्यकिश्च महारथः ।
अभिवाद्य गुरुं ज्येष्ठं मार्गणैः क्षतविक्षतौ ।
स्थितावास्तां महेष्वासौ पाञ्चाल्यैः परिवारितौ ॥२७॥
27. tato bhīmo mahābāhuḥ sātyakiśca mahārathaḥ ,
abhivādya guruṁ jyeṣṭhaṁ mārgaṇaiḥ kṣatavikṣatau ,
sthitāvāstāṁ maheṣvāsau pāñcālyaiḥ parivāritau.
27. tataḥ bhīmaḥ mahābāhuḥ sātyakiḥ ca
mahārathaḥ abhivādya guruṃ jyeṣṭhaṃ
mārgaṇaiḥ kṣatavikṣatau sthitau
āstām maheṣvāsau pāñcālyaiḥ parivāritau
27. tataḥ mahābāhuḥ bhīmaḥ ca mahārathaḥ
sātyakiḥ maheṣvāsau jyeṣṭhaṃ guruṃ
abhivādya mārgaṇaiḥ kṣatavikṣatau
pāñcālyaiḥ parivāritau sthitau āstām
27. Then, the mighty-armed Bhima and Satyaki, the great charioteer, both great archers, stood there, wounded and pierced by arrows, after having saluted their elder teacher (guru). They were surrounded by the Panchalas.
तौ दृष्ट्व मुदितौ वीरौ प्राञ्जली चाग्रतः स्थितौ ।
अभ्यनन्दत कौन्तेयस्तावुभौ भीमसात्यकी ॥२८॥
28. tau dṛṣṭva muditau vīrau prāñjalī cāgrataḥ sthitau ,
abhyanandata kaunteyastāvubhau bhīmasātyakī.
28. tau dṛṣṭvā muditau vīrau prāñjalī ca agrataḥ sthitau
abhyanandata kaunteyaḥ tau ubhau bhīmasātyakī
28. kaunteyaḥ muditau prāñjalī ca agrataḥ sthitau
tau vīrau bhīmasātyakī ubhau dṛṣṭvā abhyanandata
28. Having seen those two heroes, Bhima and Satyaki, joyful and standing before him with folded hands, Yudhishthira, the son of Kunti, greeted both of them with joy.
दिष्ट्या पश्यामि वां वीरौ विमुक्तौ सैन्यसागरात् ।
द्रोणग्राहाद्दुराधर्षाद्धार्दिक्यमकरालयात् ।
दिष्ट्या च निर्जिताः संख्ये पृथिव्यां सर्वपार्थिवाः ॥२९॥
29. diṣṭyā paśyāmi vāṁ vīrau vimuktau sainyasāgarāt ,
droṇagrāhāddurādharṣāddhārdikyamakarālayāt ,
diṣṭyā ca nirjitāḥ saṁkhye pṛthivyāṁ sarvapārthivāḥ.
29. diṣṭyā paśyāmi vām vīrau vimuktau
sainyasāgarāt droṇagrāhāt durādharṣāt
hārdikyamakarālayāt diṣṭyā ca
nirjitāḥ saṃkhye pṛthivyām sarvapārthivāḥ
29. diṣṭyā vīrau aham vām sainyasāgarāt
durādharṣāt droṇagrāhāt hārdikyamakarālayāt
ca vimuktau paśyāmi ca diṣṭyā
saṃkhye pṛthivyām sarvapārthivāḥ nirjitāḥ
29. Fortunately, O heroes, I see you both liberated from the ocean-like army, from the unconquerable Drona, who was like a great shark, and from Hārdikya (Kṛtavarman), who was like an abode of fierce crocodiles. And fortunately, all the kings on earth have been vanquished in battle.
युवां विजयिनौ चापि दिष्ट्या पश्यामि संयुगे ।
दिष्ट्या द्रोणो जितः संख्ये हार्दिक्यश्च महाबलः ॥३०॥
30. yuvāṁ vijayinau cāpi diṣṭyā paśyāmi saṁyuge ,
diṣṭyā droṇo jitaḥ saṁkhye hārdikyaśca mahābalaḥ.
30. yuvām vijayinau ca api diṣṭyā paśyāmi saṃyuge
diṣṭyā droṇaḥ jitaḥ saṃkhye hārdikyaḥ ca mahābalaḥ
30. diṣṭyā api saṃyuge yuvām vijayinau paśyāmi ca
diṣṭyā saṃkhye droṇaḥ ca mahābalaḥ hārdikyaḥ jitaḥ
30. Fortunately, I see you two victorious even in battle. And fortunately, Droṇa has been defeated in battle, as has the mighty Kṛtavarman (Hārdikya).
सैन्यार्णवं समुत्तीर्णौ दिष्ट्या पश्यामि चानघौ ।
समरश्लाघिनौ वीरौ समरेष्वपलायिनौ ।
मम प्राणसमौ चैव दिष्ट्या पश्यामि वामहम् ॥३१॥
31. sainyārṇavaṁ samuttīrṇau diṣṭyā paśyāmi cānaghau ,
samaraślāghinau vīrau samareṣvapalāyinau ,
mama prāṇasamau caiva diṣṭyā paśyāmi vāmaham.
31. sainyārṇavam samuttīrṇau diṣṭyā
paśyāmi ca anaghau samaraślāghinau
vīrau samareṣu apalāyinau mama
prāṇasamau ca eva diṣṭyā paśyāmi vām aham
31. aham ca diṣṭyā sainyārṇavam
samuttīrṇau anaghau samaraślāghinau
vīrau samareṣu apalāyinau ca eva
diṣṭyā mama prāṇasamau vām paśyāmi
31. And fortunately, I see you two, unharmed, having traversed the ocean of armies; you are heroes who glorify in battle and never retreat from battles. Indeed, fortunately, I see you both, who are as dear to me as my own life.
इत्युक्त्वा पाण्डवो राजा युयुधानवृकोदरौ ।
सस्वजे पुरुषव्याघ्रौ हर्षाद्बाष्पं मुमोच ह ॥३२॥
32. ityuktvā pāṇḍavo rājā yuyudhānavṛkodarau ,
sasvaje puruṣavyāghrau harṣādbāṣpaṁ mumoca ha.
32. iti uktvā pāṇḍavaḥ rājā yuyudhānavṛkodarau
sasvaje puruṣavyāghrau harṣāt bāṣpam mumoca ha
32. iti uktvā pāṇḍavaḥ rājā harṣāt puruṣavyāghrau
yuyudhānavṛkodarau sasvaje ha bāṣpam mumoca
32. Having thus spoken, King Yudhiṣṭhira, the Pāṇḍava, embraced those two tigers among men, Sātyaki (Yuyudhāna) and Bhīma (Vṛkodara), and indeed shed tears of joy.
ततः प्रमुदितं सर्वं बलमासीद्विशां पते ।
पाण्डवानां जयं दृष्ट्वा युद्धाय च मनो दधे ॥३३॥
33. tataḥ pramuditaṁ sarvaṁ balamāsīdviśāṁ pate ,
pāṇḍavānāṁ jayaṁ dṛṣṭvā yuddhāya ca mano dadhe.
33. tataḥ pramuditam sarvam balam āsīt viśām pate
pāṇḍavānām jayam dṛṣṭvā yuddhāya ca manaḥ dadhe
33. tataḥ viśām pate sarvam balam pramuditam āsīt ca
pāṇḍavānām jayam dṛṣṭvā (saḥ) yuddhāya manaḥ dadhe
33. Then, O lord of people, all the army was greatly delighted. And having witnessed the Pāṇḍavas' victory, Yudhiṣṭhira (he) resolved to prepare for battle.
