सूत उवाच ।
एवं स्तुतस्तदा कद्र्वा भगवान्हरिवाहनः ।
नीलजीमूतसंघातैर्व्योम सर्वं समावृणोत् ॥१॥
1. sūta uvāca ,
evaṁ stutastadā kadrvā bhagavānharivāhanaḥ ,
nīlajīmūtasaṁghātairvyoma sarvaṁ samāvṛṇot.
1. sūta uvāca evam stutaḥ tadā kadrvā bhagavān
harivāhanaḥ nīlajīmūtasaṃghātaiḥ vyoma sarvam samāvṛṇot
1. Sūta said: Thus praised by Kadru, the revered Hari's vehicle (Garuda) then completely covered the entire sky with masses of dark clouds.
ते मेघा मुमुचुस्तोयं प्रभूतं विद्युदुज्ज्वलाः ।
परस्परमिवात्यर्थं गर्जन्तः सततं दिवि ॥२॥
2. te meghā mumucustoyaṁ prabhūtaṁ vidyudujjvalāḥ ,
parasparamivātyarthaṁ garjantaḥ satataṁ divi.
2. te meghāḥ mumucuḥ toyam prabhūtam vidyut-ujjvalāḥ
parasparam iva atyartham garjantaḥ satatam divi
2. Those clouds, shining with lightning, released abundant water. They thundered continuously in the sky as if excessively (contending) with each other.
संघातितमिवाकाशं जलदैः सुमहाद्भुतैः ।
सृजद्भिरतुलं तोयमजस्रं सुमहारवैः ॥३॥
3. saṁghātitamivākāśaṁ jaladaiḥ sumahādbhutaiḥ ,
sṛjadbhiratulaṁ toyamajasraṁ sumahāravaiḥ.
3. saṃghātitam iva ākāśam jaladaiḥ sumahādbhutaiḥ
sṛjadbhiḥ atulam toyam ajasram sumahāravaiḥ
3. The sky was as if compacted by the exceedingly wondrous clouds, which discharged immeasurable water incessantly with very great roars.
संप्रनृत्तमिवाकाशं धारोर्मिभिरनेकशः ।
मेघस्तनितनिर्घोषमम्बरं समपद्यत ॥४॥
4. saṁpranṛttamivākāśaṁ dhārormibhiranekaśaḥ ,
meghastanitanirghoṣamambaraṁ samapadyata.
4. saṃpranṛttam iva ākāśam dhārorrmibhiḥ anekaśaḥ
meghastanitanirghoṣam ambaram samapadyata
4. The sky became as if intensely shaking with countless streams of rain, and resonating with the roar of thunder.
नागानामुत्तमो हर्षस्तदा वर्षति वासवे ।
आपूर्यत मही चापि सलिलेन समन्ततः ॥५॥
5. nāgānāmuttamo harṣastadā varṣati vāsave ,
āpūryata mahī cāpi salilena samantataḥ.
5. nāgānām uttamaḥ harṣaḥ tadā varṣati vāsve
| āpūryata mahī ca api salilena samantataḥ
5. Then, there was great joy among the Nāgas when Indra sent rain. And the earth, moreover, was completely filled with water from all sides.
