O King, having heard the terrible roar of your men in the great battle, Śaineya quickly approached Kṛtavarmā.

But Hārdikya (Kṛtavarmā), being greatly enraged, showered Śaineya with sharp arrows. Thereupon, Sātyaki became angry.

Then, Śaineya, in the battle, dispatched a very sharp javelin and four other arrows towards Kṛtavarmā.

They struck down his horses. With a broad-headed arrow (bhalla), one of them cut his bow. And they pierced both the chariot's rear guard and the charioteer with sharp arrows.

Then, Satyaki, whose valor (vikrama) was true, having rendered him chariot-less, harassed his (opponent's) army with arrows that had well-bent joints (i.e., were well-crafted).

Then, that army, distressed by the arrows of Shaineya (Satyaki), was routed. Thereupon, Satyaki, of true valor (vikrama), indeed advanced quickly.

Having decisively defeated Kṛtavarman in battle, the hero, greatly delighted, calmly told his charioteer, "Proceed slowly!"

Upon seeing that army of yours - teeming with chariots, horses, and elephants, and entirely filled with infantry - he spoke to his charioteer again.

Indeed, O charioteer, these numerous princes - all great archers and valiant warriors - are difficult to repel in battle. They have been commanded by Duryodhana and have sacrificed their lives for my sake.

47.
O lord of the people (viśāṃ pate), the quick-acting Sātvata, having killed Jalasandha in battle, then threw the Niṣāda elephant driver from the elephant's back.

Jalasandha's elephant, its body drenched with blood, carried its excellent seat (howdah) which was clinging to it and hanging down.

Wounded by the Sātvata's arrows, the great elephant, trampling its own army and uttering a terrible cry of pain, fled.

O venerable one, a great cry of alarm arose from your army when they saw Jalasandha killed by the foremost of the Vṛṣṇis.

51.
Your warriors, having turned their backs, ran away from all sides, eager for retreat but dispirited in conquering the enemy.

O King, at that moment, Droṇa, the foremost of weapon-bearers, approached the great warrior Yuyudhāna with swift horses.

Having seen Śaineya (Satyaki) thus roused, the foremost of the Kurus, enraged, surrounded him (Satyaki) together with Droṇa.

Then, O King, a terrible battle, comparable to that between deities (devas) and demons (asuras), commenced on the battlefield involving the Kurus, the Sātvata, and Droṇa.
