वैशंपायन उवाच ।
अभिषिक्तो महाप्राज्ञो राज्यं प्राप्य युधिष्ठिरः ।
दाशार्हं पुण्डरीकाक्षमुवाच प्राञ्जलिः शुचिः ॥१॥

abhiṣikto mahāprājño rājyaṁ prāpya yudhiṣṭhiraḥ ,

1. Vaiśampāyana said: Having been consecrated and having obtained the kingdom, the greatly wise and pure Yudhiṣṭhira, with folded hands, spoke to Kṛṣṇa, the lotus-eyed descendant of Dāśārha.
तव कृष्ण प्रसादेन नयेन च बलेन च ।
बुद्ध्या च यदुशार्दूल तथा विक्रमणेन च ॥२॥
2. tava kṛṣṇa prasādena nayena ca balena ca ,
buddhyā ca yaduśārdūla tathā vikramaṇena ca.

2. O Krishna, O tiger among the Yadus, by your grace, and by your policy, and by your strength, and by your intelligence, and similarly by your valor (these things were achieved).
पुनः प्राप्तमिदं राज्यं पितृपैतामहं मया ।
नमस्ते पुण्डरीकाक्ष पुनः पुनररिंदम ॥३॥
3. punaḥ prāptamidaṁ rājyaṁ pitṛpaitāmahaṁ mayā ,
namaste puṇḍarīkākṣa punaḥ punarariṁdama.
3. punaḥ prāptam idam rājyam pitṛpaitāmaham mayā
namaste puṇḍarīkākṣa punaḥ punaḥ arindama
3. mayā punaḥ idam pitṛpaitāmaham rājyam prāptam he
puṇḍarīkākṣa he arindama te punaḥ punaḥ namas
3. By me, this ancestral kingdom has been obtained again. Salutations to you, O lotus-eyed one, O subduer of enemies, again and again.
त्वामेकमाहुः पुरुषं त्वामाहुः सात्वतां पतिम् ।
नामभिस्त्वां बहुविधैः स्तुवन्ति परमर्षयः ॥४॥
4. tvāmekamāhuḥ puruṣaṁ tvāmāhuḥ sātvatāṁ patim ,
nāmabhistvāṁ bahuvidhaiḥ stuvanti paramarṣayaḥ.
4. tvām ekam āhuḥ puruṣam tvām āhuḥ sātvatām patim
nāmabhiḥ tvām bahuvidhaiḥ stuvanti paramarṣayaḥ
4. tvām ekam puruṣam āhuḥ tvām sātvatām patim āhuḥ
paramarṣayaḥ tvām bahuvidhaiḥ nāmabhiḥ stuvanti
4. They call you the one (supreme) Person (puruṣa); they call you the lord of the Sātvatas. The great sages praise you with many kinds of names.
विश्वकर्मन्नमस्तेऽस्तु विश्वात्मन्विश्वसंभव ।
विष्णो जिष्णो हरे कृष्ण वैकुण्ठ पुरुषोत्तम ॥५॥
5. viśvakarmannamaste'stu viśvātmanviśvasaṁbhava ,
viṣṇo jiṣṇo hare kṛṣṇa vaikuṇṭha puruṣottama.
5. viśvakarmann namaste astu viśvātman viśvasambhava
viṣṇo jiṣṇo hare kṛṣṇa vaikuṇṭha puruṣottama
5. viśvakarmann viśvātman viśvasambhava te namas
astu viṣṇo jiṣṇo hare kṛṣṇa vaikuṇṭha puruṣottama
5. O architect of the universe, salutations to you! O soul (ātman) of the universe, O origin of the universe! O Viṣṇu, O conqueror, O Hari, O Krishna, O Vaikuṇṭha, O supreme Person (puruṣottama)!
अदित्याः सप्तरात्रं तु पुराणे गर्भतां गतः ।
पृश्निगर्भस्त्वमेवैकस्त्रियुगं त्वां वदन्त्यपि ॥६॥
6. adityāḥ saptarātraṁ tu purāṇe garbhatāṁ gataḥ ,
pṛśnigarbhastvamevaikastriyugaṁ tvāṁ vadantyapi.
6. Adityāḥ saptarātraṃ tu purāṇe garbhatāṃ gataḥ |
pṛśnigarbhaḥ tvam eva ekaḥ triyugaṃ tvāṃ vadanti api
6. pṛśnigarbhaḥ,
tvam purāṇe Adityāḥ garbhatāṃ saptarātraṃ gataḥ eva.
tvam ekaḥ (iti) triyugaṃ tvāṃ api vadanti.
6. O Pṛśnigarbha, you alone indeed entered the state of an embryo in Aditi's womb for seven nights in ancient times. They also call you Triyuga (the one manifest in three ages).
शुचिश्रवा हृषीकेशो घृतार्चिर्हंस उच्यसे ।
त्रिचक्षुः शंभुरेकस्त्वं विभुर्दामोदरोऽपि च ॥७॥
7. śuciśravā hṛṣīkeśo ghṛtārcirhaṁsa ucyase ,
tricakṣuḥ śaṁbhurekastvaṁ vibhurdāmodaro'pi ca.
7. śuciśravā hṛṣīkeśaḥ ghṛtārciḥ haṃsaḥ ucyase |
tricakṣuḥ śambhuḥ ekaḥ tvam vibhuḥ dāmodaraḥ api ca
7. tvam śuciśravāḥ,
hṛṣīkeśaḥ,
ghṛtārciḥ,
haṃsaḥ ca ucyase.
tvam ekaḥ (eva) tricakṣuḥ,
śambhuḥ,
vibhuḥ,
dāmodaraḥ api ca.
7. You are called Śuciśravas, Hṛṣīkeśa, Ghṛtārci, and Haṃsa (the supreme soul). You alone are also Tricakṣus, Śambhu, Vibhu, and Dāmodara.
वराहोऽग्निर्बृहद्भानुर्वृषणस्तार्क्ष्यलक्षणः ।
अनीकसाहः पुरुषः शिपिविष्ट उरुक्रमः ॥८॥
8. varāho'gnirbṛhadbhānurvṛṣaṇastārkṣyalakṣaṇaḥ ,
anīkasāhaḥ puruṣaḥ śipiviṣṭa urukramaḥ.
8. varāhaḥ agniḥ bṛhadbhānuḥ vṛṣaṇaḥ tārkṣyalakṣaṇaḥ
| anīkasāhaḥ puruṣaḥ śipiviṣṭaḥ urukramaḥ
8. (tvam) varāhaḥ,
agniḥ,
bṛhadbhānuḥ,
vṛṣaṇaḥ,
tārkṣyalakṣaṇaḥ (asi).
(tvam) anīkasāhaḥ,
puruṣaḥ,
śipiviṣṭaḥ,
urukramaḥ (ca asi).
8. You are Varāha, Agni, Bṛhadbhānu, Vṛṣaṇa, and Tārkṣyalakṣaṇa (one whose emblem is Tārkṣya). You are Anīkasāha, Puruṣa (the supreme cosmic person), Śipiviṣṭa, and Urukrama.
वाचिष्ठ उग्रः सेनानीः सत्यो वाजसनिर्गुहः ।
अच्युतश्च्यावनोऽरीणां संकृतिर्विकृतिर्वृषः ॥९॥
9. vāciṣṭha ugraḥ senānīḥ satyo vājasanirguhaḥ ,
acyutaścyāvano'rīṇāṁ saṁkṛtirvikṛtirvṛṣaḥ.
9. vāciṣṭhaḥ ugraḥ senānīḥ satyaḥ vājasaniḥ guhaḥ
| acyutaḥ cyāvanaḥ arīṇāṃ saṃkṛtiḥ vikṛtiḥ vṛṣaḥ
9. (tvam) vāciṣṭhaḥ,
ugraḥ,
senānīḥ,
satyaḥ,
vājasaniḥ,
guhaḥ (asi).
(tvam) acyutaḥ,
arīṇāṃ cyāvanaḥ,
saṃkṛtiḥ,
vikṛtiḥ,
vṛṣaḥ (ca asi).
9. You are Vāciṣṭha, Ugra, Senānī (commander of armies), Satya (truth), Vājasani (giver of strength), and Guha (the hidden one). You are Acyuta (the unfallen), the agitator of enemies, Saṃkṛti (the collector/creator), Vikṛti (the transformer/modifier), and Vṛṣa (the righteous one).
कृतवर्त्मा त्वमेवाद्रिर्वृषगर्भो वृषाकपिः ।
सिन्धुक्षिदूर्मिस्त्रिककुत्त्रिधामा त्रिवृदच्युतः ॥१०॥
10. kṛtavartmā tvamevādrirvṛṣagarbho vṛṣākapiḥ ,
sindhukṣidūrmistrikakuttridhāmā trivṛdacyutaḥ.
10. kṛtavartmā tvam eva adriḥ vṛṣagarbhaḥ vṛṣākapiḥ
sindhukṣit ūrmiḥ trikakut tridhāmā trivṛt acyutaḥ
10. tvam eva kṛtavartmā adriḥ vṛṣagarbhaḥ vṛṣākapiḥ
sindhukṣit ūrmiḥ trikakut tridhāmā trivṛt acyutaḥ (asi)
10. Indeed, You are the one whose path is well-made, the mountain, the one with the bull as his essence, Vṛṣākapi. You are the one who dries up the oceans, the wave, the three-peaked one, the one with three abodes, the threefold, and the infallible one (acyuta).
सम्राड्विराट्स्वराट्चैव सुरराड्धर्मदो भवः ।
विभुर्भूरभिभूः कृष्णः कृष्णवर्त्मा त्वमेव च ॥११॥
11. samrāḍvirāṭsvarāṭcaiva surarāḍdharmado bhavaḥ ,
vibhurbhūrabhibhūḥ kṛṣṇaḥ kṛṣṇavartmā tvameva ca.
11. samrāṭ virāṭ svarāṭ ca eva surarāṭ dharmadaḥ bhavaḥ
| vibhuḥ bhūḥ abhibhūḥ kṛṣṇaḥ kṛṣṇavartmā tvam eva ca
11. tvam samrāṭ virāṭ svarāṭ ca eva
surarāṭ dharmadaḥ bhavaḥ (asi)
(tvam) vibhuḥ bhūḥ abhibhūḥ
kṛṣṇaḥ kṛṣṇavartmā ca eva (asi)
11. You are the sovereign ruler, the universal ruler, and the self-ruler; indeed, the king of the gods, the bestower of natural law (dharma), the very existence. You are the omnipresent, the Earth, the conqueror, Krishna, and the one whose path is dark (Agni), and indeed You.
स्विष्टकृद्भिषगावर्तः कपिलस्त्वं च वामनः ।
यज्ञो ध्रुवः पतंगश्च जयत्सेनस्त्वमुच्यसे ॥१२॥
12. sviṣṭakṛdbhiṣagāvartaḥ kapilastvaṁ ca vāmanaḥ ,
yajño dhruvaḥ pataṁgaśca jayatsenastvamucyase.
12. sviṣṭakṛt bhiṣak āvartaḥ kapilaḥ tvam ca vāmanaḥ
yajñaḥ dhruvaḥ pataṅgaḥ ca jayatsenaḥ tvam ucyase
12. tvam sviṣṭakṛt bhiṣak āvartaḥ kapilaḥ ca vāmanaḥ
yajñaḥ dhruvaḥ pataṅgaḥ ca jayatsenaḥ tvam ucyase
12. You are referred to as Sviṣṭakṛt (the performer of proper Vedic rituals), the physician (bhiṣak), Āvarta, Kapila, and Vāmana (the dwarf incarnation). You are also called Yajña (the personified Vedic ritual), Dhruva, Pataṅga (the sun), and Jayatsena.
शिखण्डी नहुषो बभ्रुर्दिवस्पृक्त्वं पुनर्वसुः ।
सुबभ्रुरुक्षो रुक्मस्त्वं सुषेणो दुन्दुभिस्तथा ॥१३॥
13. śikhaṇḍī nahuṣo babhrurdivaspṛktvaṁ punarvasuḥ ,
subabhrurukṣo rukmastvaṁ suṣeṇo dundubhistathā.
13. śikhaṇḍī nahuṣaḥ babhruḥ divaspṛk tvam punarvasuḥ |
subabhruḥ ukṣaḥ rukmaḥ tvam suṣeṇaḥ dundubhiḥ tathā
13. tvam śikhaṇḍī nahuṣaḥ babhruḥ divaspṛk punarvasuḥ (asi)
(tvam) subabhruḥ ukṣaḥ rukmaḥ suṣeṇaḥ tathā dundubhiḥ (asi)
13. You are Śikhaṇḍī, Nahuṣa, Babhru, the one who touches the sky, and Punarvasu (the constellation). You are the excellent tawny one, the mighty bull, the splendor, Suṣeṇa, and also Dundubhi.
गभस्तिनेमिः श्रीपद्मं पुष्करं पुष्पधारणः ।
ऋभुर्विभुः सर्वसूक्ष्मस्त्वं सावित्रं च पठ्यसे ॥१४॥
14. gabhastinemiḥ śrīpadmaṁ puṣkaraṁ puṣpadhāraṇaḥ ,
ṛbhurvibhuḥ sarvasūkṣmastvaṁ sāvitraṁ ca paṭhyase.
14. gabhastinemiḥ śrīpadmam puṣkaram puṣpadhāraṇaḥ
ṛbhuḥ vibhuḥ sarvasūkṣmaḥ tvam sāvitram ca paṭhyase
14. tvam gabhastinemiḥ śrīpadmam puṣkaram puṣpadhāraṇaḥ
ṛbhuḥ vibhuḥ sarvasūkṣmaḥ sāvitram ca paṭhyase
14. You are the one with a chakra (disc) of rays, the glorious lotus, the celestial lotus (puṣkaram), and the bearer of flowers. You are skillful (ṛbhuḥ), all-pervading (vibhuḥ), and the subtlest of all. You are also referred to as Sāvitra.
अम्भोनिधिस्त्वं ब्रह्मा त्वं पवित्रं धाम धन्व च ।
हिरण्यगर्भं त्वामाहुः स्वधा स्वाहा च केशव ॥१५॥
15. ambhonidhistvaṁ brahmā tvaṁ pavitraṁ dhāma dhanva ca ,
hiraṇyagarbhaṁ tvāmāhuḥ svadhā svāhā ca keśava.
15. ambhonidhiḥ tvam brahmā tvam pavitram dhāma dhanva
ca hiraṇyagarbham tvām āhuḥ svadhā svāhā ca keśava
15. keśava tvam ambhonidhiḥ tvam brahmā pavitram dhāma
dhanva ca tvām hiraṇyagarbham svadhā svāhā ca āhuḥ
15. O Keśava, you are the ocean, you are Brahmā, the sacred abode, and the barren land. They call you Hiranyagarbha, Svadhā, and Svāhā.
योनिस्त्वमस्य प्रलयश्च कृष्ण त्वमेवेदं सृजसि विश्वमग्रे ।
विश्वं चेदं त्वद्वशे विश्वयोने नमोऽस्तु ते शार्ङ्गचक्रासिपाणे ॥१६॥
16. yonistvamasya pralayaśca kṛṣṇa; tvamevedaṁ sṛjasi viśvamagre ,
viśvaṁ cedaṁ tvadvaśe viśvayone; namo'stu te śārṅgacakrāsipāṇe.
16. yoniḥ tvam asya pralayaḥ ca kṛṣṇa
tvam eva idam sṛjasi viśvam agre
viśvam ca idam tvadvaśe viśvayone
namaḥ astu te śārṅgacakrāsipāṇe
16. kṛṣṇa tvam asya yoniḥ ca pralayaḥ
tvam eva idam viśvam agre sṛjasi
viśvayone idam viśvam ca tvadvaśe
śārṅgacakrāsipāṇe te namaḥ astu
16. O Kṛṣṇa, you are the origin (yoni) and the dissolution of this (universe). Indeed, you alone create this universe in the beginning. And this entire universe is under your control, O origin of the universe (viśvayoni)! Salutations to you, O holder of the Śārṅga bow, disc (chakra), and sword in hand!
एवं स्तुतो धर्मराजेन कृष्णः सभामध्ये प्रीतिमान्पुष्कराक्षः ।
तमभ्यनन्दद्भारतं पुष्कलाभिर्वाग्भिर्ज्येष्ठं पाण्डवं यादवाग्र्यः ॥१७॥
17. evaṁ stuto dharmarājena kṛṣṇaḥ; sabhāmadhye prītimānpuṣkarākṣaḥ ,
tamabhyanandadbhārataṁ puṣkalābhi;rvāgbhirjyeṣṭhaṁ pāṇḍavaṁ yādavāgryaḥ.
17. evam stutaḥ dharmarājena kṛṣṇaḥ
sabhāmadhye prītimān puṣkarākṣaḥ tam
abhyanandat bhāratam puṣkalābhiḥ
vāgbhiḥ jyeṣṭham pāṇḍavam yādavāgryaḥ
17. evam dharmarājena stutaḥ sabhāmadhye
prītimān puṣkarākṣaḥ kṛṣṇaḥ
yādavāgryaḥ tam jyeṣṭham pāṇḍavam
bhāratam puṣkalābhiḥ vāgbhiḥ abhyanandat
17. Thus praised by Yudhiṣṭhira, the king of natural law (dharma), Kṛṣṇa, the lotus-eyed (puṣkarākṣaḥ) one, who was delighted in the midst of the assembly, then, as the foremost of the Yadus (yādavāgryaḥ), praised him, Yudhiṣṭhira, the eldest Pāṇḍava, with abundant words.
