Sūta said: Then, having seized their principal shields and various weapons, the Daityas and Dānavas, united, rushed towards the gods.

Then, the powerful Lord Vishnu, accompanied by Nara, having taken that nectar, snatched it away from the chiefs of the Dānavas.

Then, all the hosts of gods, having obtained that nectar from Lord Vishnu amidst the great tumultuous confusion, drank it at that time.

Then, at that very moment, while the gods were drinking the desired nectar, the demon Rahu also drank it, disguised in the form of a god.

Then, just as that nectar reached the demon's throat, the Moon and Sun, desiring the welfare of the gods, reported it.

Then, the Lord, the wielder of the discus weapon, severed his prominent head with the discus, as Rahu was forcefully drinking the nectar.

That enormous head of the demon, resembling a mountain peak, severed by the discus, fell and shook the surface of the earth.

Then, a perpetual enmity was indeed established by Rahu against the Moon and Sun, and even today he swallows them.

Lord Hari, having relinquished his unequalled female form, also made the Dānavas tremble with various dreadful weapons.

Then a great and exceedingly dreadful battle began near the salt ocean, between the gods and the demons.

Then the demons, split by discs and shattered by swords, spears, and maces, fell to the ground, profusely vomiting blood.

Then, in that dreadful battle, severed heads, appearing like networks of molten gold, also fell ceaselessly, cut down by broadswords.

A cry of distress arose in thousands here and there, as they hacked at each other with weapons, and the sun was turning red.

The sound of those striking each other in battle with iron clubs and with fists in close combat, touched the sky as it were.

"Cut! Break! Charge! Make them fall! Advance!" - such tremendously fierce shouts were heard there from all directions.

While such a tremendously fierce and terrifying battle was going on, the two divine beings, Nara and Narayana, arrived at the combat.

19.
Then, upon seeing Nara's (Arjuna's) divine bow, the Lord (Krishna), who is Vishnu and the slayer of demons, also thought of his discus.

Then, merely by his thought, the discus of immense splendor, scorching to enemies, comparable to the sun, with an unblunted rim, terrible, unconquerable, and supreme, named Sudarshana, came from the sky.

21.
Then, the infallible Achyuta (Krishna), whose arms resembled elephant trunks, discharged that discus which had just arrived. It was terrifying, shone with the brilliance of a blazing fire, was swift, possessed immense speed, was of great splendor, and capable of tearing apart enemy cities.

That discus, which possessed a brilliance equal to the fire of Death, then descended swiftly again and again in battle, impelled by the hand of the best of men (Krishna), tearing apart thousands of the Diti and Danu demons.

23.
At times, burning like a fire and voraciously licking, it forcibly cut down those hosts of demons. Sent forth repeatedly in the sky and on the earth, it then drank blood in battle like a ghoulish fiend.

Then, the Asuras, undaunted in spirit and exceedingly powerful, whose might dispersed clouds, repeatedly tormented the host of gods with mountains, having ascended into the sky by the thousands.

Then, from the sky, great mountains - fear-inducing, laden with trees, appearing in various cloud-like forms, and with their peaks and slopes crumbling - descended, swiftly striking each other with loud sounds.

Then, the earth, with its forests, was greatly shaken, having been struck from all sides by the falling great mountains, while the battlefield was vigorously engaged, with the warriors repeatedly roaring intensely at each other.

Then, during that immensely terrifying battle with the Asura host, a hero, with his great arrows adorned with excellent golden tips, completely covered the sky. With these very arrows, he also tore apart the mountain peaks.

Then, the great Asuras, oppressed by the gods, sought refuge in the earth and the salty ocean. This was after they beheld the Sudarshana disc, moving in the sky, glowing with the brilliance of blazing fire, and exceedingly enraged.
