Yudhishthira, as a dice-player, became dear to the assembly members. And similarly, he became dear to Virata, the lord of the people, along with his son.

Indeed, that Pandava (Yudhishthira), being an expert in dice (akṣa), made them play in the gambling hall as he wished, as if they were birds tied by strings.

Then, in the fourth month, a very grand and prosperous festival dedicated to Brahma (brahman) took place among the Matsyas, highly esteemed by all men.

O King, there, from all directions, thousands of wrestlers gathered - huge-bodied and mighty, like the Kālakañja demons.

Puffed up with prowess and exceedingly mighty, they were highly honored by the king. With shoulders, hips, and necks like lions, they were pure and high-minded. They had repeatedly achieved their objectives in the arena, in the presence of the king.

When all the wrestlers became disheartened and dejected, then the king of Matsya had his cook fight that wrestler.
