The great-souled (mahātman) Arjuna, by whom that bow was drawn and the target pierced, is the foremost among conquerors and a wielder of mighty arrows and a bow.

Yet, the great-souled Bhīma, whose touch was terrible and who felled the limbs of enemy armies, felt no agitation at all there.

When the kings heard that the sons of King Pāṇḍu, the Kaunteyas, had assumed the forms of Brahmins, great astonishment arose among them.

For formerly, Kuntī and her sons were heard to have been burned in the lac house. Therefore, all the kings now regarded them as reborn.

Then, they denounced Bhīṣma and Dhṛtarāṣṭra, the Kaurava, for the exceedingly cruel act that Purocana had indeed committed.

Then King Duryodhana, dejected along with his brothers, Aśvatthāmā, his maternal uncle (Śakuni), Karṇa, and Kṛpa...

Having seen Arjuna ("the one with white horses") chosen by Draupadī, King Duryodhana, along with his brothers, Aśvatthāmā, his maternal uncle (Śakuni), Karṇa, and Kṛpa, turned back. Then Duḥśāsana, feeling ashamed, spoke to him (Duryodhana) very slowly.

12.
(Duḥśāsana continued): "Indeed, I consider divine will (daivam) to be supreme, and human effort (pauruṣam) to be useless. Shame on our human effort, dear brother, because the Pāṇḍavas are taking away everything here."

Thus conversing and blaming Purocana, they, dejected and disheartened, entered Hastinapura.

They (the kings) were frightened and had lost their resolve (saṃkalpa) upon seeing the greatly powerful sons of Pṛthā (Pārthas), who were (now known to be) released from the (consuming) fire and allied with Drupada.

16.
Then, Vidura, having heard that the Pāṇḍavas had been chosen by Draupadi, and that the Dhārtarāṣṭras (sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra) had returned, ashamed and with their pride (darpa) completely shattered...

Then, the Kṣattā (Vidura), with a delighted mind and amazed (by the good news), said to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, 'O lord of the people, fortunately the Kurus are prospering!'

But the king, son of Vicitravīrya (Dhṛtarāṣṭra), having heard Vidura's words attentively, replied, greatly delighted, 'Fortunately, fortunately!' O Bhārata (descendant of Bharata).

The king (nareśvaraḥ), Dhṛtarāṣṭra, though possessing an inner vision (prājñācakṣuḥ), indeed believed, out of ignorance, that his eldest son Duryodhana had been chosen by the daughter of Drupada.

Then, afterwards, Vidura informed him (Dhṛtarāṣṭra) that all the heroic Pāṇḍavas were well and had been honored and chosen by Drupada. He also told him about their many other powerful relatives.

Dhṛtarāṣṭra said: "Just as those Pāṇḍavas are the sons of Pāṇḍu, so too are they exceedingly dear to me. This increased affection and prosperity, O Vidura, is considered by me as such, because those heroic Pāṇḍavas are well and have friends."
