Dhritarashtra said: "O Sanjaya, day after day, my brilliant glory diminishes. Many of my warriors have been slain. I consider this to be the turning of the wheel of time."

But Dhanañjaya (Arjuna), greatly enraged, penetrated my army – an army that was guarded by Drona and Karna, and which was impenetrable even for the gods.

Since that time, sorrow burns my heart as if it were fire. Indeed, I behold the kings, including the Sindhu ruler (Jayadratha), as already seized [by fate/death].

After having committed a very great offense against the crowned one (Arjuna), how can the Sindhu king, having come within his sight, escape alive?

And by inference, O Sanjaya, I see that the Sindhu king (Jayadratha) no longer exists. However, tell me, who am asking, exactly how that battle transpired.

O descendant of Bharata, a battle took place between those two (Alambusa and Sātyaki), and no such combat had ever occurred before. All the warriors, both your own and the enemy's, simply watched those two, who were glorious in battle.

The best of kings, Alambusa, forcefully struck Sātyaki with ten arrows. But the bull among the Śinis (Sātyaki) also intercepted those very arrows with his own shafts even before they could reach him.
