ततः स किंकरान् हत्वा हनूमान्ध्यानमास्थितः ।
वनं भग्नं मया चैत्यप्रासादो न विनाशितः ।
तस्मात् प्रासादमप्येवमिमं विध्वंसयाम्यहम् ॥१॥
1. tataḥ sa kiṃkarān hatvā hanūmāndhyānamāsthitaḥ ,
vanaṃ bhagnaṃ mayā caityaprāsādo na vināśitaḥ ,
tasmāt prāsādamapyevamimaṃ vidhvaṃsayāmyaham.

1. Then, Hanumān, having killed the servants, became thoughtful: "The grove has been broken by me, but the shrine-palace has not been destroyed. Therefore, I will also destroy this very palace in this manner."
इति संचिन्त्य हनुमान्मनसा दर्शयन्बलम् ।
चैत्यप्रासादमाप्लुत्य मेरुशृङ्गमिवोन्नतम् ।
आरुरोह हरिश्रेष्ठो हनूमान्मारुतात्मजः ॥२॥
2. iti saṃcintya hanumānmanasā darśayanbalam ,
caityaprāsādamāplutya meruśṛṅgamivonnatam ,
āruroha hariśreṣṭho hanūmānmārutātmajaḥ.

darśayan balam caityaprāsādam āplutya
meruśṛṅgam iva unnatam ārūroha

2. Reflecting thus, Hanumān, son of Maruta and best of monkeys, mentally demonstrated his strength. He leaped onto the elevated palace-temple, which was like the peak of Mount Meru, and ascended it.
संप्रधृष्य च दुर्धर्षश्चैत्यप्रासादमुन्नतम् ।
हनूमान्प्रज्वलंल् लक्ष्म्या पारियात्रोपमो ऽभवत् ॥३॥
3. saṃpradhṛṣya ca durdharṣaścaityaprāsādamunnatam ,
hanūmānprajvalaṃl lakṣmyā pāriyātropamo'bhavat.
3. sampardhṛṣya ca durdharṣaḥ caityaprāsādam unnatam
hanumān prajvalan lakṣmyā pāriyātropamaḥ abhavat
3. ca durdharṣaḥ hanumān unnatam caityaprāsādam

3. And the formidable Hanumān, having boldly approached the lofty palace-temple, blazing with splendor, became like Mount Pāriyātra.
स भूत्वा तु महाकायो हनूमान्मारुतात्मजः ।
धृष्टमास्फोटयामास लङ्कां शब्देन पूरयन् ॥४॥
4. sa bhūtvā tu mahākāyo hanūmānmārutātmajaḥ ,
dhṛṣṭamāsphoṭayāmāsa laṅkāṃ śabdena pūrayan.
4. sa bhūtvā tu mahākāyaḥ hanumān mārutātmajaḥ
dhṛṣṭam āsphoṭayāmāsa laṅkām śabdena pūrayan
4. saḥ hanumān mārutātmajaḥ mahākāyaḥ bhūtvā tu

4. Having transformed into a colossal form, Hanumān, son of Maruta, boldly roared, filling all of Laṅkā with his sound.
तस्यास्फोटितशब्देन महता श्रोत्रघातिना ।
पेतुर्विहंगा गगनादुच्चैश्चेदमघोषयत् ॥५॥
5. tasyāsphoṭitaśabdena mahatā śrotraghātinā ,
peturvihaṃgā gaganāduccaiścedamaghoṣayat.
5. tasya āsphoṭitaśabdena mahatā śrotragātinā
petuḥ vihaṃgā gaganāt uccaiḥ ca idam aghoṣayat
5. tasya mahatā śrotragātinā āsphoṭitaśabdena

5. Due to the mighty, ear-splitting sound of his roar, birds fell from the sky, and he loudly proclaimed the following:
जयत्यतिबलो रामो लक्ष्मणश्च महाबलः ।
राजा जयति सुग्रीवो राघवेणाभिपालितः ॥६॥
6. jayatyatibalo rāmo lakṣmaṇaśca mahābalaḥ ,
rājā jayati sugrīvo rāghaveṇābhipālitaḥ.
6. jayati atibalaḥ rāmaḥ lakṣmaṇaḥ ca mahābalaḥ
rājā jayati sugrīvaḥ rāghaveṇa abhipālitaḥ
6. atibalaḥ rāmaḥ jayati ca mahābalaḥ lakṣmaṇaḥ

6. The exceedingly mighty Rama is victorious, and so is the greatly mighty Lakshmana. King Sugriva, who is protected by Raghava, also triumphs.
दासो ऽहं कोसलेन्द्रस्य रामस्याक्लिष्टकर्मणः ।
हनुमाञ् शत्रुसैन्यानां निहन्ता मारुतात्मजः ॥७॥
7. dāso'haṃ kosalendrasya rāmasyākliṣṭakarmaṇaḥ ,
hanumāñ śatrusainyānāṃ nihantā mārutātmajaḥ.
7. dāsaḥ aham kosalendrasya rāmasya akliṣṭakarmaṇaḥ
hanumān śatrusainyānām nihantā mārutātmajaḥ
7. aham kosalendrasya akliṣṭakarmaṇaḥ rāmasya dāsaḥ
hanumān mārutātmajaḥ śatrusainyānām nihantā
7. I am a servant of Rama, the lord of Kosala, whose actions (karma) are effortless. I am Hanuman, the son of Maruta, the destroyer of enemy armies.
न रावणसहस्रं मे युद्धे प्रतिबलं भवेत् ।
शिलाभिस्तु प्रहरतः पादपैश्च सहस्रशः ॥८॥
8. na rāvaṇasahasraṃ me yuddhe pratibalaṃ bhavet ,
śilābhistu praharataḥ pādapaiśca sahasraśaḥ.
8. na rāvaṇasahasram me yuddhe pratibalam bhavet
śilābhiḥ tu praharataḥ pādapaiḥ ca sahasraśaḥ
8. me yuddhe rāvaṇasahasram pratibalam na bhavet
praharataḥ śilābhiḥ tu ca pādapaiḥ sahasraśaḥ
8. Not even a thousand Ravanas would be a match for me in battle, as I strike with stones and thousands of trees.
अर्दयित्वा पुरीं लङ्कामभिवाद्य च मैथिलीम् ।
समृद्धार्थो गमिष्यामि मिषतां सर्वरक्षसाम् ॥९॥
9. ardayitvā purīṃ laṅkāmabhivādya ca maithilīm ,
samṛddhārtho gamiṣyāmi miṣatāṃ sarvarakṣasām.
9. ardayitvā purīm laṅkām abhivādya ca maithilīm
samṛddhārthaḥ gamiṣyāmi miṣatām sarvarakṣasām
9. purīm laṅkām ardayitvā ca maithilīm abhivādya
samṛddhārthaḥ gamiṣyāmi sarvarakṣasām miṣatām
9. Having ravaged the city of Lanka and paid my respects to Maithili (Sita), I will return with my mission accomplished, while all the Rākṣasas look on.
एवमुक्त्वा विमानस्थश्चैत्यस्थान् हरिपुंगवः ।
ननाद भीमनिर्ह्रादो रक्षसां जनयन्भयम् ॥१०॥
10. evamuktvā vimānasthaścaityasthān haripuṃgavaḥ ,
nanāda bhīmanirhrādo rakṣasāṃ janayanbhayam.
10. evam uktvā vimānasthaḥ caityasthān haripuṅgavaḥ
nanāda bhīmanirhrādaḥ rakṣasām janayan bhayam
10. haripuṅgavaḥ vimānasthaḥ evam uktvā bhīmanirhrādaḥ
nanāda caityasthān rakṣasām bhayam janayan
10. Having spoken thus, the chief of monkeys (haripuṅgava), who was situated in the aerial car, roared with a terrible sound, causing fear among the Rākṣasas who were in the shrines.
तेन शब्देन महता चैत्यपालाः शतं ययुः ।
गृहीत्वा विविधानस्त्रान्प्रासान् खड्गान्परश्वधान् ।
विसृजन्तो महाक्षया मारुतिं पर्यवारयन् ॥११॥
11. tena śabdena mahatā caityapālāḥ śataṃ yayuḥ ,
gṛhītvā vividhānastrānprāsān khaḍgānparaśvadhān ,
visṛjanto mahākṣayā mārutiṃ paryavārayan.
11. tena śabdena mahatā caityapālāḥ
śatam yayuḥ gṛhītvā vividhān astrān
prāsān khaḍgān paraśvadhān visṛjantaḥ
mahākṣayāḥ mārutim paryavārayan
11. tena mahatā śabdena śatam caityapālāḥ
vividhān astrān prāsān khaḍgān
paraśvadhān gṛhītvā mahākṣayāḥ
visṛjantaḥ mārutim paryavārayan yayuḥ
11. At that great sound, a hundred shrine-guards advanced. Taking various missiles, spears, swords, and axes, they, causing great destruction, surrounded Māruti (Hanumān) while hurling their weapons.
आवर्त इव गङ्गायास्तोयस्य विपुलो महान् ।
परिक्षिप्य हरिश्रेष्ठं स बभौ रक्षसां गणः ॥१२॥
12. āvarta iva gaṅgāyāstoyasya vipulo mahān ,
parikṣipya hariśreṣṭhaṃ sa babhau rakṣasāṃ gaṇaḥ.
12. āvartaḥ iva gaṅgāyāḥ toyasya vipulaḥ mahān
parikṣipya hariśreṣṭham saḥ babhau rakṣasām gaṇaḥ
12. rakṣasām saḥ gaṇaḥ hariśreṣṭham parikṣipya
gaṅgāyāḥ toyasya vipulaḥ mahān āvartaḥ iva babhau
12. That host of Rākṣasas, having surrounded the chief of monkeys (harisreṣṭha), appeared like a vast and great whirlpool of the Gaṅgā river's waters.
ततो वातात्मजः क्रुद्धो
भीमरूपं समास्थितः ॥१३॥
13. tato vātātmajaḥ kruddho
bhīmarūpaṃ samāsthitaḥ.

13. Then, the son of Vāyu (vātātmaja), enraged, assumed a terrible form.
प्रासादस्य महांस्तस्य स्तम्भं हेमपरिष्कृतम् ।
उत्पाटयित्वा वेगेन हनूमान्मारुतात्मजः ।
ततस्तं भ्रामयामास शतधारं महाबलः ॥१४॥
14. prāsādasya mahāṃstasya stambhaṃ hemapariṣkṛtam ,
utpāṭayitvā vegena hanūmānmārutātmajaḥ ,
tatastaṃ bhrāmayāmāsa śatadhāraṃ mahābalaḥ.
14. prāsādasya mahān tasya stambham
hemapariṣkṛtam utpāṭayitvā vegena
hanūmān mārutātmajaḥ tataḥ tam
bhrāmayāmāsa śatadhāram mahābalaḥ
14. mahābalaḥ mārutātmajaḥ hanūmān

hemapariṣkṛtam stambham utpāṭayitvā
tataḥ tam śatadhāram bhrāmayāmāsa
14. The immensely powerful Hanuman, the son of the wind god (Maruta), forcefully uprooted that great, gold-adorned pillar of the palace. Then, he whirled that hundred-edged (or very sharp) pillar around.
स राक्षसशतं हत्वा वज्रेणेन्द्र इवासुरान् ।
अन्तरिक्षस्थितः श्रीमानिदं वचनमब्रवीत् ॥१५॥
15. sa rākṣasaśataṃ hatvā vajreṇendra ivāsurān ,
antarikṣasthitaḥ śrīmānidaṃ vacanamabravīt.
15. saḥ rākṣasaśatam hatvā vajreṇa indraḥ iva asurān
antarikṣasthitaḥ śrīmān idam vacanam abravīt
15. saḥ śrīmān antarikṣasthitaḥ,
indraḥ vajreṇa asurān iva,
rākṣasaśatam hatvā,
idam vacanam abravīt
15. Having killed a hundred rākṣasas, just as Indra (the king of gods) kills asuras with his thunderbolt, that glorious one, standing in the sky, spoke these words.
मादृशानां सहस्राणि विसृष्टानि महात्मनाम् ।
बलिनां वानरेन्द्राणां सुग्रीववशवर्तिनाम् ॥१६॥
16. mādṛśānāṃ sahasrāṇi visṛṣṭāni mahātmanām ,
balināṃ vānarendrāṇāṃ sugrīvavaśavartinām.

balinām vānarendrāṇām sugrīvavaśavartinām

16. Thousands of powerful monkey chiefs (vānarendras) like me, great souls (mahātmanas) who are obedient to Sugrīva, have been dispatched.
शतैः शतसहस्रैश्च कोटीभिरयुतैरपि ।
आगमिष्यति सुग्रीवः सर्वेषां वो निषूदनः ॥१७॥
17. śataiḥ śatasahasraiśca koṭībhirayutairapi ,
āgamiṣyati sugrīvaḥ sarveṣāṃ vo niṣūdanaḥ.
17. śataiḥ śatasahasraiḥ ca koṭībhiḥ ayutaiḥ api
āgamiṣyati sugrīvaḥ sarveṣām vaḥ niṣūdanaḥ
17. sugrīvaḥ śataiḥ śatasahasraiḥ ca koṭībhiḥ ayutaiḥ api āgamiṣyati,
(saḥ) vaḥ sarveṣām niṣūdanaḥ (bhaviṣyati)
17. Sugrīva will come, accompanied by hundreds, hundreds of thousands, crores (ten millions), and even ten thousands (of warriors), who will be the destroyer of all of you.
नेयमस्ति पुरी लङ्का न यूयं न च रावणः ।
यस्मादिक्ष्वाकुनाथेन बद्धं वैरं महात्मना ॥१८॥
18. neyamasti purī laṅkā na yūyaṃ na ca rāvaṇaḥ ,
yasmādikṣvākunāthena baddhaṃ vairaṃ mahātmanā.
18. na iyam asti purī laṅkā na yūyam na ca rāvaṇaḥ
yasmāt ikṣvākūnāthena baddham vairam mahātmanā
18. na iyam purī laṅkā asti na yūyam na ca rāvaṇaḥ
yasmāt mahātmanā ikṣvākūnāthena vairam baddham
18. This city of Laṅkā does not truly exist, nor do you, nor does Rāvaṇa, because a great enmity has been initiated by the noble Ikṣvāku chief (Rāma).
