सीतां तु मोहितां दृष्ट्वा सरमा नाम राक्षसी ।
आससादाशु वैदेहीं प्रियां प्रणयिनी सखी ॥१॥

1. Having seen Sita bewildered, a female demon named Sarama, a loving friend, quickly approached dear Vaidehi.
सा हि तत्र कृता मित्रं सीतया रक्ष्यमाणया ।
रक्षन्ती रावणादिष्टा सानुक्रोशा दृढव्रता ॥२॥
2. sā hi tatra kṛtā mitraṃ sītayā rakṣyamāṇayā ,
rakṣantī rāvaṇādiṣṭā sānukrośā dṛḍhavratā.

2. Indeed, she (Sarama) had been made a friend by Sita there, while Sita was being guarded. Though appointed by Ravana to watch over her, Sarama was compassionate and firm in her (friendly) resolve.
सा ददर्श सखीं सीतां सरमा नष्टचेतनाम् ।
उपावृत्योत्थितां ध्वस्तां वडवामिव पांसुषु ॥३॥
3. sā dadarśa sakhīṃ sītāṃ saramā naṣṭacetanām ,
upāvṛtyotthitāṃ dhvastāṃ vaḍavāmiva pāṃsuṣu.
3. sā dadarśa sakhīm sītām naṣṭa cetanām upāvṛtya
utthitām dhvastām vaḍavām iva pāṃsuṣu

3. Sarama saw her friend Sita, who was unconscious, (then) having turned and risen (from her swoon), but still appearing distressed and dishevelled, like a mare wallowing in the dust.
तां समाश्वासयामास सखी स्नेहेन सुव्रता ।
उक्ता यद् रावणेन त्वं प्रत्युक्तं च स्वयं त्वया ॥४॥
4. tāṃ samāśvāsayāmāsa sakhī snehena suvratā ,
uktā yad rāvaṇena tvaṃ pratyuktaṃ ca svayaṃ tvayā.
4. tām samāśvāsayāmāsa sakhī snehena suvratā uktā
yat rāvaṇena tvam pratyuktam ca svayam tvayā

4. The virtuous friend affectionately consoled her, concerning what you were told by Rāvaṇa and what you yourself replied.
सखीस्नेहेन तद्भीरु मया सर्वं प्रतिश्रुतम् ।
लीनया गनहे शूह्ये भयमुत्सृज्य रावणात् ।
तव हेतोर्विशालाक्षि न हि मे जीवितं प्रियम् ॥५॥
5. sakhīsnehena tadbhīru mayā sarvaṃ pratiśrutam ,
līnayā ganahe śūhye bhayamutsṛjya rāvaṇāt ,
tava hetorviśālākṣi na hi me jīvitaṃ priyam.
5. sakhī-snehena tat bhīru mayā sarvam
pratiśrutam līnayā gahane guhye
bhayam utsṛjya rāvaṇāt tava hetoḥ
viśālākṣi na hi me jīvitam priyam
5. bhīru sakhī-snehena mayā tat sarvam

5. O timid one, out of a friend's affection, I overheard everything. Hiding in a deep, secret place, having cast aside all fear of Rāvaṇa, O broad-eyed one, my life is certainly not dear to me for your sake.
स संभ्रान्तश्च निष्क्रान्तो यत् कृते राक्षसाधिपः ।
तच्च मे विदितं सर्वमभिनिष्क्रम्य मैथिलि ॥६॥
6. sa saṃbhrāntaśca niṣkrānto yat kṛte rākṣasādhipaḥ ,
tacca me viditaṃ sarvamabhiniṣkramya maithili.
6. sa sambhrāntaḥ ca niṣkrāntaḥ yat kṛte rākṣasādhipaḥ
tat ca me viditam sarvam abhiniṣkramya maithili
6. maithili sa rākṣasādhipaḥ yat kṛte sambhrāntaḥ ca
niṣkrāntaḥ tat sarvam ca me abhiniṣkramya viditam
6. And he, the lord of rākṣasas, greatly agitated, exited [the grove] because of what had happened. All of that also became known to me, O Maithilī, after his departure.
न शक्यं सौप्तिकं कर्तुं रामस्य विदितात्मनः ।
वधश्च पुरुषव्याघ्रे तस्मिन्नेवोपपद्यते ॥७॥
7. na śakyaṃ sauptikaṃ kartuṃ rāmasya viditātmanaḥ ,
vadhaśca puruṣavyāghre tasminnevopapadyate.
7. na śakyam sauptikam kartum rāmasya viditātmanaḥ
vadhaḥ ca puruṣa-vyāghre tasmin eva upapadyate
7. rāmasya viditātmanaḥ sauptikam kartum na śakyam
ca puruṣa-vyāghre tasmin eva vadhaḥ upapadyate
7. A surprise attack (sauptika) is not possible against Rāma, who understands his true nature (ātman). And the destruction of an enemy is only accomplished by that foremost of men.
न चैव वानरा हन्तुं शक्याः पादपयोधिनः ।
सुरा देवर्षभेणेव रामेण हि सुरक्षिताः ॥८॥
8. na caiva vānarā hantuṃ śakyāḥ pādapayodhinaḥ ,
surā devarṣabheṇeva rāmeṇa hi surakṣitāḥ.
8. na ca eva vānarāḥ hantum śakyāḥ pādapayodhinaḥ
surāḥ devārṣabheṇa iva rāmeṇa hi surakṣitāḥ
8. vānarāḥ pādapayodhinaḥ na ca eva hantum śakyāḥ
hi rāmeṇa surakṣitāḥ surāḥ devārṣabheṇa iva
8. Indeed, these monkeys, who fight with trees, cannot be slain. They are well-protected by Rāma, just as the gods are safeguarded by the lord of the gods.
दीर्घवृत्तभुजः श्रीमान्महोरस्कः प्रतापवान् ।
धन्वी संहननोपेतो धर्मात्मा भुवि विश्रुतः ॥९॥
9. dīrghavṛttabhujaḥ śrīmānmahoraskaḥ pratāpavān ,
dhanvī saṃhananopeto dharmātmā bhuvi viśrutaḥ.

9. He is glorious, with long, rounded arms, a broad chest, and great valor. He is a bowman, endowed with a firm physique, righteous in his disposition (dharma), and renowned on earth.
विक्रान्तो रक्षिता नित्यमात्मनश्च परस्य च ।
लक्ष्मणेन सह भ्रात्रा कुशली नयशास्त्रवित् ॥१०॥
10. vikrānto rakṣitā nityamātmanaśca parasya ca ,
lakṣmaṇena saha bhrātrā kuśalī nayaśāstravit.
10. vikrāntaḥ rakṣitā nityam ātmanaḥ ca parasya ca
lakṣmaṇena saha bhrātrā kuśalī nayaśāstravit
10. vikrāntaḥ rakṣitā nityam ātmanaḥ ca parasya ca
kuśalī nayaśāstravit lakṣmaṇena saha bhrātrā
10. He is valiant and a constant protector of himself (ātman) and others. He is skillful and knowledgeable in the science of polity, accompanied by his brother Lakṣmaṇa.
हन्ता परबलौघानामचिन्त्यबलपौरुषः ।
न हतो राघवः श्रीमान् सीते शत्रुनिबर्हणः ॥११॥
11. hantā parabalaughānāmacintyabalapauruṣaḥ ,
na hato rāghavaḥ śrīmān sīte śatrunibarhaṇaḥ.
11. hantā parabalaughānām acintyabalapauruṣaḥ na
hataḥ rāghavaḥ śrīmān sīte śatrunibarhaṇaḥ
11. hantā parabalaughānām acintyabalapauruṣaḥ

11. He is the destroyer of enemy hordes, possessing unthinkable strength and valor. O Sītā, the glorious Rāghava, the vanquisher of enemies, has not been slain.
अयुक्तबुद्धिकृत्येन सर्वभूतविरोधिना ।
इयं प्रयुक्ता रौद्रेण माया मायाविदा त्वयि ॥१२॥
12. ayuktabuddhikṛtyena sarvabhūtavirodhinā ,
iyaṃ prayuktā raudreṇa māyā māyāvidā tvayi.

iyam prayuktā raudreṇa māyā māyāvidā tvayi
12. iyam māyā tvayi prayuktā ayuktabuddhikṛtyena

12. This illusion (māyā) has been unleashed upon you by the fierce one, skilled in illusion (māyā), whose intellect and actions are improper, and who is hostile to all beings.
शोकस्ते विगतः सर्वः कल्याणं त्वामुपस्थितम् ।
ध्रुवं त्वां भजते लक्ष्मीः प्रियं प्रीतिकरं शृणु ॥१३॥
13. śokaste vigataḥ sarvaḥ kalyāṇaṃ tvāmupasthitam ,
dhruvaṃ tvāṃ bhajate lakṣmīḥ priyaṃ prītikaraṃ śṛṇu.
13. śokaḥ te vigataḥ sarvaḥ kalyāṇam tvām upasthitam
dhruvam tvām bhajate lakṣmīḥ priyam prītikaram śṛṇu
13. te sarvaḥ śokaḥ vigataḥ kalyāṇam tvām upasthitam
dhruvam lakṣmīḥ tvām bhajate priyam prītikaram śṛṇu
13. All your sorrow is gone; welfare has come to you. Certainly, Lakṣmī will attend to you. Now listen to this dear and pleasing (message).
उत्तीर्य सागरं रामः सह वानरसेनया ।
संनिविष्टः समुद्रस्य तीरमासाद्य दक्षिणम् ॥१४॥
14. uttīrya sāgaraṃ rāmaḥ saha vānarasenayā ,
saṃniviṣṭaḥ samudrasya tīramāsādya dakṣiṇam.

saṁniviṣṭaḥ samudrasya tīram āsādya dakṣiṇam

14. Rāma, having crossed the ocean with his monkey army, encamped after reaching the southern shore of the sea.
दृष्टो मे परिपूर्णार्थः काकुत्स्थः सहलक्ष्मणः ।
सहितैः सागरान्तस्थैर्बलैस्तिष्ठति रक्षितः ॥१५॥
15. dṛṣṭo me paripūrṇārthaḥ kākutsthaḥ sahalakṣmaṇaḥ ,
sahitaiḥ sāgarāntasthairbalaistiṣṭhati rakṣitaḥ.
15. dṛṣṭaḥ me paripūrṇārthaḥ kākutsthaḥ sahalakṣmaṇaḥ
sahitaiḥ sāgarāntasthair balaiḥ tiṣṭhati rakṣitaḥ
15. me paripūrṇārthaḥ sahalakṣmaṇaḥ kākutsthaḥ dṛṣṭaḥ
sāgarāntasthaiḥ sahitaiḥ balaiḥ rakṣitaḥ tiṣṭhati
15. Kākutstha (Rāma), with his purpose fully accomplished and accompanied by Lakṣmaṇa, has been seen by me. He remains protected by the forces situated along the ocean's edge.
अनेन प्रेषिता ये च राक्षसा लघुविक्रमः ।
राघवस्तीर्ण इत्येवं प्रवृत्तिस्तैरिहाहृता ॥१६॥
16. anena preṣitā ye ca rākṣasā laghuvikramaḥ ,
rāghavastīrṇa ityevaṃ pravṛttistairihāhṛtā.
16. anena preṣitāḥ ye ca rākṣasāḥ laghuvikramaḥ
rāghavaḥ tīrṇaḥ iti evam pravṛttiḥ taiḥ iha āhṛtā

16. The (rākṣasas) who were sent by him brought here the news that Rāghava (Rāma), the swiftly valorous one, had crossed.
स तां श्रुत्वा विशालाक्षि प्रवृत्तिं राक्षसाधिपः ।
एष मन्त्रयते सर्वैः सचिवैः सह रावणः ॥१७॥
17. sa tāṃ śrutvā viśālākṣi pravṛttiṃ rākṣasādhipaḥ ,
eṣa mantrayate sarvaiḥ sacivaiḥ saha rāvaṇaḥ.
17. saḥ tām śrutvā viśālākṣi pravṛttim rākṣasādhipaḥ
eṣaḥ mantrayate sarvaiḥ sacivaiḥ saha rāvaṇaḥ
17. viśālākṣi saḥ rākṣasādhipaḥ rāvaṇaḥ tām pravṛttim
śrutvā eṣaḥ sarvaiḥ sacivaiḥ saha mantrayate
17. O wide-eyed one, having heard that report, Rāvaṇa, the chief of the (rākṣasas), is now consulting with all his ministers.
इति ब्रुवाणा सरमा राक्षसी सीतया सह ।
सर्वोद्योगेन सैन्यानां शब्दं शुश्राव भैरवम् ॥१८॥
18. iti bruvāṇā saramā rākṣasī sītayā saha ,
sarvodyogena sainyānāṃ śabdaṃ śuśrāva bhairavam.

sarvodyogena sainyānām śabdam śuśrāva bhairavam

18. As Saramā, the (rākṣasī), was speaking thus with Sītā, she heard a terrifying sound of the armies' full mobilization.
दण्डनिर्घातवादिन्याः श्रुत्वा भेर्या महास्वनम् ।
उवाच सरमा सीतामिदं मधुरभाषिणी ॥१९॥
19. daṇḍanirghātavādinyāḥ śrutvā bheryā mahāsvanam ,
uvāca saramā sītāmidaṃ madhurabhāṣiṇī.
19. daṇḍanirghātavādinyāḥ śrutvā bheryāḥ mahāsvanam
uvāca saramā sītām idam madhurabhāṣiṇī

19. Having heard the loud sound of the drum, produced by the impact of sticks, the sweet-speaking Saramā said this to Sītā.
संनाहजननी ह्येषा भैरवा भीरु भेरिका ।
भेरीनादं च गम्भीरं शृणु तोयदनिस्वनम् ॥२०॥
20. saṃnāhajananī hyeṣā bhairavā bhīru bherikā ,
bherīnādaṃ ca gambhīraṃ śṛṇu toyadanisvanam.
20. sannāhajananaī hi eṣā bhairavā bhīru bherikā
bherīnādam ca gambhīram śṛṇu toyadanisvanam
20. bhīru eṣā bhairavā sannāhajananaī bherikā hi
gambhīram ca toyadanisvanam bherīnādam śṛṇu
20. O timid one, this dreadful war-drum indeed announces the preparation for battle. Listen to its deep sound, like the rumbling of a cloud.
कल्प्यन्ते मत्तमातंगा युज्यन्ते रथवाजिनः ।
तत्र तत्र च संनद्धाः संपतन्ति पदातयः ॥२१॥
21. kalpyante mattamātaṃgā yujyante rathavājinaḥ ,
tatra tatra ca saṃnaddhāḥ saṃpatanti padātayaḥ.
21. kalpyante mattamātaṅgāḥ yujyante rathavājinaḥ
tatra tatra ca sannaddhāḥ saṃpatanti padātayaḥ
21. mattamātaṅgāḥ kalpyante,
rathavājinaḥ yujyante ca.
tatra tatra sannaddhāḥ padātayaḥ saṃpatanti
21. Maddened elephants are prepared, and chariot-horses are harnessed. Here and there, armed foot-soldiers gather.
आपूर्यन्ते राजमार्गाः सैन्यैरद्भुतदर्शनैः ।
वेगवद्भिर्नदद्भिश्च तोयौघैरिव सागरः ॥२२॥
22. āpūryante rājamārgāḥ sainyairadbhutadarśanaiḥ ,
vegavadbhirnadadbhiśca toyaughairiva sāgaraḥ.
22. āpūryante rājamārgāḥ sainyaiḥ adbhutadarśanaiḥ
vegavadbhiḥ nadadbhiḥ ca toyaughaiḥ iva sāgaraḥ
22. rājamārgāḥ adbhutadarśanaiḥ sainyaiḥ āpūryante,
iva sāgaraḥ vegavadbhiḥ nadadbhiḥ ca toyaughaiḥ
22. The royal roads are filled with armies of astonishing sight, just as the ocean is filled with swift, roaring torrents of water.
शास्त्राणां च प्रसन्नानां चर्मणां वर्मणां तथा ।
रथवाजिगजानां च भूषितानां च रक्षसाम् ॥२३॥
23. śāstrāṇāṃ ca prasannānāṃ carmaṇāṃ varmaṇāṃ tathā ,
rathavājigajānāṃ ca bhūṣitānāṃ ca rakṣasām.
23. śāstrāṇām ca prasannānām carmaṇām varmaṇām
tathā rathavājigajānām ca bhūṣitānām ca rakṣasām
23. prasannānām śāstrāṇām ca,
carmaṇām,
varmaṇām tathā.
bhūṣitānām rathavājigajānām ca,

23. And of shining weapons, of shields, and of armors; and also of adorned chariots, horses, and elephants, and of the Rākṣasas.
प्रभां विसृजतां पश्य नानावर्णां समुत्थिताम् ।
वनं निर्दहतो धर्मे यथारूपं विभावसोः ॥२४॥
24. prabhāṃ visṛjatāṃ paśya nānāvarṇāṃ samutthitām ,
vanaṃ nirdahato dharme yathārūpaṃ vibhāvasoḥ.
24. prabhām visṛjatām paśya nānāvarṇām samutthitām
vanam nirdahataḥ dharme yathārūpam vibhāvasoḥ
24. paśya nānāvarṇām samutthitām prabhām visṛjatām

24. Behold the multi-colored, spreading radiance emitted by the numerous flames of the fire, as it consumes the forest according to its intrinsic nature (dharma).
घण्टानां शृणु निर्घोषं रथानां शृणु निस्वनम् ।
हयानां हेषमाणानां शृणु तूर्यध्वनिं यथा ॥२५॥
25. ghaṇṭānāṃ śṛṇu nirghoṣaṃ rathānāṃ śṛṇu nisvanam ,
hayānāṃ heṣamāṇānāṃ śṛṇu tūryadhvaniṃ yathā.
25. ghaṇṭānām śṛṇu nirghoṣam rathānām śṛṇu nisvanam
hayānām heṣamāṇānām śṛṇu tūryadhvanim yathā
25. śṛṇu ghaṇṭānām nirghoṣam śṛṇu rathānām nisvanam
śṛṇu hayānām heṣamāṇānām tūryadhvanim yathā
25. Listen to the clangor of the bells, listen to the rumble of the chariots. Listen to the neighing of the horses, and to the sound of the trumpets.
उद्यतायुधहस्तानां राक्षसेन्द्रानुयायिनाम् ।
संभ्रमो रक्षसामेष तुमुलो लोमहर्षणः ॥२६॥
26. udyatāyudhahastānāṃ rākṣasendrānuyāyinām ,
saṃbhramo rakṣasāmeṣa tumulo lomaharṣaṇaḥ.
26. udyatāyudhahastānām rākṣasendrānuyāyinām
sambhramaḥ rakṣasām eṣaḥ tumulaḥ lomaharṣaṇaḥ
26. eṣaḥ tumulaḥ lomaharṣaṇaḥ sambhramaḥ
udyatāyudhahastānām rākṣasendrānuyāyinām rakṣasām
26. This tumultuous, hair-raising agitation is that of the Rākṣasas, followers of the lord of Rākṣasas, who hold uplifted weapons in their hands.
श्रीस्त्वां भजति शोकघ्नी रक्षसां भयमागतम् ।
रामात् कमलपत्राक्षि दैत्यानामिव वासवात् ॥२७॥
27. śrīstvāṃ bhajati śokaghnī rakṣasāṃ bhayamāgatam ,
rāmāt kamalapatrākṣi daityānāmiva vāsavāt.
27. śrīḥ tvām bhajati śokaghnī rakṣasām bhayam āgatam
rāmāt kamalapatrākṣi daityānām iva vāsavāt
27. kamalapatrākṣi śokaghnī śrīḥ tvām bhajati rakṣasām
bhayam āgatam rāmāt iva daityānām vāsavāt
27. O lotus-eyed one, prosperity (śrī) that dispels sorrow comes to you. Fear has overcome the Rākṣasas from Rāma, just as it befell the Daityas from Indra.
अवजित्य जितक्रोधस्तमचिन्त्यपराक्रमः ।
रावणं समरे हत्वा भर्ता त्वाधिगमिष्यति ॥२८॥
28. avajitya jitakrodhastamacintyaparākramaḥ ,
rāvaṇaṃ samare hatvā bhartā tvādhigamiṣyati.
28. avajitya jitakrodhaḥ tam acintyaparākramaḥ
rāvaṇam samare hatvā bhartā tvā adhigamiṣyati
28. Having conquered his anger, your husband, whose valor is inconceivable, will kill Rāvaṇa in battle and then regain you.
विक्रमिष्यति रक्षःसु भर्ता ते सहलक्ष्मणः ।
यथा शत्रुषु शत्रुघ्नो विष्णुना सह वासवः ॥२९॥
29. vikramiṣyati rakṣaḥsu bhartā te sahalakṣmaṇaḥ ,
yathā śatruṣu śatrughno viṣṇunā saha vāsavaḥ.
29. vikramiṣyati rakṣaḥsu bhartā te sahalakṣmaṇaḥ
yathā śatruṣu śatrughnaḥ viṣṇunā saha vāsavaḥ
29. Your husband, along with Lakṣmaṇa, will display valor among the Rākṣasas, just as Indra, the slayer of enemies, does with Viṣṇu against his foes.
आगतस्य हि रामस्य क्षिप्रमङ्कगतां सतीम् ।
अहं द्रक्ष्यामि सिद्धार्थां त्वां शत्रौ विनिपातिते ॥३०॥
30. āgatasya hi rāmasya kṣipramaṅkagatāṃ satīm ,
ahaṃ drakṣyāmi siddhārthāṃ tvāṃ śatrau vinipātite.
30. āgatasya hi rāmasya kṣipram aṅkagatām satīm aham
drakṣyāmi siddhārthām tvām śatrau vinipātite
30. Indeed, when Rāma returns and the enemy is slain, I will quickly see you, the chaste one, with your purpose accomplished, embraced on his lap.
अश्रूण्यानन्दजानि त्वं वर्तयिष्यसि शोभने ।
समागम्य परिष्वक्ता तस्योरसि महोरसः ॥३१॥
31. aśrūṇyānandajāni tvaṃ vartayiṣyasi śobhane ,
samāgamya pariṣvaktā tasyorasi mahorasaḥ.
31. aśrūṇi ānandajāni tvam vartayiṣyasi śobhane
samāgamya pariṣvaktā tasya urasi mahorasaḥ
31. O beautiful one, after meeting him, you will be embraced on the broad chest of your husband and shed tears of joy.
अचिरान्मोक्ष्यते सीते देवि ते जघनं गताम् ।
धृतामेतां बहून्मासान् वेणीं रामो महाबलः ॥३२॥
32. acirānmokṣyate sīte devi te jaghanaṃ gatām ,
dhṛtāmetāṃ bahūnmāsān veṇīṃ rāmo mahābalaḥ.
32. acirāt mokṣyate sīte devi te jaghanam gatām
dhṛtām etām bahūn māsān veṇīm rāmaḥ mahābalaḥ
32. O Sītā, O goddess, the mighty Rāma will soon unbind this braid of hair that has rested upon your hips for many months.
तस्य दृष्ट्वा मुखं देवि पूर्णचन्द्रमिवोदितम् ।
मोक्ष्यसे शोकजं वारि निर्मोकमिव पन्नगी ॥३३॥
33. tasya dṛṣṭvā mukhaṃ devi pūrṇacandramivoditam ,
mokṣyase śokajaṃ vāri nirmokamiva pannagī.
33. tasya dṛṣṭvā mukham devi pūrṇacandram iva uditam
mokṣyase śokajam vāri nirmokam iva pannagī
33. O goddess, having seen his face, which will appear like a full moon, you will cast off the tears born of sorrow, just as a female serpent sheds its old skin.
रावणं समरे हत्वा नचिरादेव मैथिलि ।
त्वया समग्रं प्रियया सुखार्हो लप्स्यते सुखम् ॥३४॥
34. rāvaṇaṃ samare hatvā nacirādeva maithili ,
tvayā samagraṃ priyayā sukhārho lapsyate sukham.
34. rāvaṇam samare hatvā nacirāt eva maithili tvayā
samagram priyayā sukhārhaḥ lapsyate sukham
34. O Maithilī, after killing Rāvaṇa in battle, very soon, he who is worthy of joy will attain complete happiness together with you, his beloved.
समागता त्वं रामेण मोदिष्यसि महात्मना ।
सुवर्षेण समायुक्ता यथा सस्येन मेदिनी ॥३५॥
35. samāgatā tvaṃ rāmeṇa modiṣyasi mahātmanā ,
suvarṣeṇa samāyuktā yathā sasyena medinī.
35. samāgatā tvam rāmeṇa modiṣyasi mahātmanā
suvarṣeṇa samāyuktā yathā sasyena medinī
35. You, reunited with the great-souled (mahātman) Rāma, will rejoice, just as the earth, endowed with abundant rain, delights in its harvest.
गिरिवरमभितो ऽनुवर्तमानो हय इव मण्डलमाशु यः करोति ।
तमिह शरणमभ्युपेहि देवि दिवसकरं प्रभवो ह्ययं प्रजानाम् ॥३६॥
36. girivaramabhito'nuvartamāno haya iva maṇḍalamāśu yaḥ karoti ,
tamiha śaraṇamabhyupehi devi divasakaraṃ prabhavo hyayaṃ prajānām.
36. girivaram abhitaḥ anuvartamānaḥ
hayaḥ iva maṇḍalam āśu yaḥ karoti
tam iha śaraṇam abhyupehi devi
divasakaram prabhavaḥ hi ayam prajānām
36. devi,
yaḥ girivaram abhitaḥ hayaḥ iva āśu maṇḍalam anuvartamānaḥ karoti,
tam divasakaram iha śaraṇam abhyupehi; hi ayam prajānām prabhavaḥ.
36. O Goddess, take refuge in him who, like a horse, swiftly circles around the great mountain. Indeed, he, the sun, is the origin of all beings.
