इत्युक्तः करुणं वाक्यं वानरैस्त्यक्तजीवितैः ।
सबाष्पो वानरान् गृध्रः प्रत्युवाच महास्वनः ॥१॥

1. Having been thus addressed with pathetic words by the monkeys who had despaired of life, the tearful vulture (Sampāti) replied to them with a loud voice.
यवीयान्मम स भ्राता जटायुर्नाम वानराः ।
यमाख्यात हतं युद्धे रावणेन बलीयसा ॥२॥
2. yavīyānmama sa bhrātā jaṭāyurnāma vānarāḥ ,
yamākhyāta hataṃ yuddhe rāvaṇena balīyasā.

2. O monkeys, he was my younger brother named Jaṭāyu, whom you just mentioned as having been killed in battle by the mighty Rāvaṇa.
वृद्धभावादपक्षत्वाच्छृण्वंस्तदपि मर्षये ।
न हि मे शक्तिरद्यास्ति भ्रातुर्वैरविमोक्षणे ॥३॥
3. vṛddhabhāvādapakṣatvācchṛṇvaṃstadapi marṣaye ,
na hi me śaktiradyāsti bhrāturvairavimokṣaṇe.
3. vṛddha-bhāvāt apakṣatvāt śṛṇvan tat api marṣaye
na hi me śaktiḥ adya asti bhrātuḥ vaira-vimokṣaṇe

3. Due to my old age and being wingless, I simply endure hearing that (news about my brother). For, I do not possess the strength now to avenge my brother's wrong.
पुरा वृत्रवधे वृत्ते स चाहं च जयैषिणौ ।
आदित्यमुपयातौ स्वो ज्वलन्तं रश्मिमालिनम् ॥४॥
4. purā vṛtravadhe vṛtte sa cāhaṃ ca jayaiṣiṇau ,
ādityamupayātau svo jvalantaṃ raśmimālinam.

4. Formerly, after the slaying of Vṛtra had occurred, he and I, desiring victory, approached the blazing sun, radiant with his garland of rays.
आवृत्याकाशमार्गेण जवेन स्म गतौ भृशम् ।
मध्यं प्राप्ते च सूर्ये च जटायुरवसीदति ॥५॥
5. āvṛtyākāśamārgeṇa javena sma gatau bhṛśam ,
madhyaṃ prāpte ca sūrye ca jaṭāyuravasīdati.

5. Having swiftly traversed the path of the sky, we went forth. And when the sun reached its zenith, Jaṭāyu grew weary.
तमहं भ्रातरं दृष्ट्वा सूर्यरश्मिभिरर्दितम् ।
पक्षाभ्यं छादयामास स्नेहात् परमविह्वलम् ॥६॥
6. tamahaṃ bhrātaraṃ dṛṣṭvā sūryaraśmibhirarditam ,
pakṣābhyaṃ chādayāmāsa snehāt paramavihvalam.
6. tam aham bhrātaram dṛṣṭvā sūryaraśmibhiḥ arditam
pakṣābhyām chādayāmāsa snehāt paramavihvalam

6. Seeing my brother, afflicted by the sun's rays and exceedingly distraught, I covered him with my wings out of affection.
निर्दग्धपक्षः पतितो विन्ध्ये ऽहं वानरोत्तमाः ।
अहमस्मिन् वसन्भ्रातुः प्रवृत्तिं नोपलक्षये ॥७॥
7. nirdagdhapakṣaḥ patito vindhye'haṃ vānarottamāḥ ,
ahamasmin vasanbhrātuḥ pravṛttiṃ nopalakṣaye.
7. nirdagdḥapakṣaḥ patitaḥ vindhye aham vānarottamāḥ
aham asmin vasan bhrātuḥ pravṛttim na upalakṣaye

7. O best of monkeys, I, with my wings burnt, fell in the Vindhya mountains. While dwelling in this place, I have not been able to perceive any news of my brother.
जटायुषस्त्वेवमुक्तो भ्रात्रा संपातिना तदा ।
युवराजो महाप्राज्ञः प्रत्युवाचाङ्गदस्तदा ॥८॥
8. jaṭāyuṣastvevamukto bhrātrā saṃpātinā tadā ,
yuvarājo mahāprājñaḥ pratyuvācāṅgadastadā.
8. jaṭāyuṣaḥ tu evam uktaḥ bhrātrā saṃpātinā tadā
yuvarājaḥ mahāprājñaḥ pratyuvāca aṅgadaḥ tadā

yuvarājaḥ aṅgadaḥ tu jaṭāyuṣaḥ pratyuvāca
8. Then, when Sampāti, the brother of Jaṭāyu, was thus addressed, the greatly wise crown prince Aṅgada replied.
जटायुषो यदि भ्राता श्रुतं ते गदितं मया ।
आख्याहि यदि जानासि निलयं तस्य रक्षसः ॥९॥
9. jaṭāyuṣo yadi bhrātā śrutaṃ te gaditaṃ mayā ,
ākhyāhi yadi jānāsi nilayaṃ tasya rakṣasaḥ.
9. jaṭāyuṣaḥ yadi bhrātā śrutam te gaditam mayā
ākhyāhi yadi jānāsi nilayam tasya rakṣasaḥ
9. yadi jaṭāyuṣaḥ bhrātā te mayā gaditam śrutam

9. If you, the brother of Jaṭāyu, have heard what was spoken by me, then tell us if you know the dwelling place of that demon.
अदीर्घदर्शिनं तं वा रावणं राक्षसाधिपम् ।
अन्तिके यदि वा दूरे यदि जानासि शंस नः ॥१०॥
10. adīrghadarśinaṃ taṃ vā rāvaṇaṃ rākṣasādhipam ,
antike yadi vā dūre yadi jānāsi śaṃsa naḥ.
10. adīrghadarśinam tam vā rāvaṇam rākṣasādhipam
antike yadi vā dūre yadi jānāsi śaṃsa naḥ
10. yadi tam adīrghadarśinam vā rāvaṇam

10. If you know that short-sighted Rāvaṇa, the lord of Rākṣasas, tell us whether he is near or far.
ततो ऽब्रवीन्महातेजा ज्येष्ठो भ्राता जटायुषः ।
आत्मानुरूपं वचनं वानरान् संप्रहर्षयन् ॥११॥
11. tato'bravīnmahātejā jyeṣṭho bhrātā jaṭāyuṣaḥ ,
ātmānurūpaṃ vacanaṃ vānarān saṃpraharṣayan.
11. tataḥ abravīt mahātejāḥ jyeṣṭhaḥ bhrātā jaṭāyuṣaḥ
ātmanurūpam vacanam vānarān saṃpraharṣayan
11. tataḥ jaṭāyuṣaḥ jyeṣṭhaḥ bhrātā mahātejāḥ vānarān
saṃpraharṣayan ātmanurūpam vacanam abravīt
11. Then, Jaṭāyu's greatly energetic elder brother, gladdening the (vanara) monkeys, spoke words befitting his character.
निर्दग्धपक्षो गृध्रो ऽहं गतवीर्यः प्लवंगमाः ।
वाङ्मात्रेण तु रामस्य करिष्ये साह्यमुत्तमम् ॥१२॥
12. nirdagdhapakṣo gṛdhro'haṃ gatavīryaḥ plavaṃgamāḥ ,
vāṅmātreṇa tu rāmasya kariṣye sāhyamuttamam.
12. nirdagdhapakṣaḥ gṛdhraḥ aham gatavīryaḥ plavaṅgamāḥ
vāṅmātreṇa tu rāmasya kariṣye sāhyam uttamam
12. I am a vulture with burnt wings, my strength is gone, O monkeys. Nevertheless, I will offer the best possible help to Rama merely through words.
जानामि वारुणाल् लोकान् विष्णोस्त्रैविक्रमानपि ।
देवासुरविमर्दांश्च अमृतस्य च मन्थनम् ॥१३॥
13. jānāmi vāruṇāl lokān viṣṇostraivikramānapi ,
devāsuravimardāṃśca amṛtasya ca manthanam.
13. jānāmi vāruṇāt lokān viṣṇoḥ traivikramān api
devāsuravimardān ca amṛtasya ca manthanam
13. I am aware of the worlds of (the god) Varuna, and also the three strides (traivikrama) of Vishnu, as well as the conflicts between gods and asuras, and the churning of the deathless nectar (amṛta).
रामस्य यदिदं कार्यं कर्तव्यं प्रथमं मया ।
जरया च हृतं तेजः प्राणाश्च शिथिला मम ॥१४॥
14. rāmasya yadidaṃ kāryaṃ kartavyaṃ prathamaṃ mayā ,
jarayā ca hṛtaṃ tejaḥ prāṇāśca śithilā mama.
14. rāmasya yat idam kāryam kartavyam prathamam mayā
jarayā ca hṛtam tejaḥ prāṇāḥ ca śithilā mama
14. This task of Rama, whatever it may be, should primarily be accomplished by me. But my vigor has been stolen by old age, and my vital breaths (prāṇa) are weak.
तरुणी रूपसंपन्ना सर्वाभरणभूषिता ।
ह्रियमाणा मया दृष्टा रावणेन दुरात्मना ॥१५॥
15. taruṇī rūpasaṃpannā sarvābharaṇabhūṣitā ,
hriyamāṇā mayā dṛṣṭā rāvaṇena durātmanā.
15. taruṇī rūpasaṃpannā sarvābharaṇabhūṣitā
hriyamāṇā mayā dṛṣṭā rāvaṇena durātmanā
15. A young woman, endowed with beauty and adorned with all ornaments, was seen by me being carried away by the evil-minded Ravana.
क्रोशन्ती राम रामेति लक्ष्मणेति च भामिनी ।
भूषणान्यपविध्यन्ती गात्राणि च विधुन्वती ॥१६॥
16. krośantī rāma rāmeti lakṣmaṇeti ca bhāminī ,
bhūṣaṇānyapavidhyantī gātrāṇi ca vidhunvatī.
16. krośantī rāma rāma iti lakṣmaṇa iti ca bhāminī
bhūṣaṇāni apavidhyantī gātrāṇi ca vidhunvatī
16. bhāminī rāma rāma iti lakṣmaṇa iti ca krośantī
bhūṣaṇāni apavidhyantī gātrāṇi ca vidhunvatī
16. The distressed lady, crying out 'Rama, Rama,' and 'Lakshmana,' was throwing off her ornaments and shaking her limbs.
सूर्यप्रभेव शैलाग्रे तस्याः कौशेयमुत्तमम् ।
असिते राक्षसे भाति यथा वा तडिदम्बुदे ॥१७॥
17. sūryaprabheva śailāgre tasyāḥ kauśeyamuttamam ,
asite rākṣase bhāti yathā vā taḍidambude.
17. sūryaprabhā iva śailāgre tasyāḥ kauśeyam uttamam
asite rākṣase bhāti yathā vā taḍit ambude
17. tasyāḥ uttamam kauśeyam asite rākṣase bhāti,
yathā sūryaprabhā iva śailāgre,
vā taḍit iva ambude
17. Her excellent silk garment shone on the dark demon, just like the sun's radiance on a mountain peak, or like lightning in a cloud.
तां तु सीतामहं मन्ये रामस्य परिकीर्तनात् ।
श्रूयतां मे कथयतो निलयं तस्य रक्षसः ॥१८॥
18. tāṃ tu sītāmahaṃ manye rāmasya parikīrtanāt ,
śrūyatāṃ me kathayato nilayaṃ tasya rakṣasaḥ.
18. tām tu sītām aham manye rāmasya parikīrtanāt
śrūyatām me kathayataḥ nilayam tasya rakṣasaḥ
18. rāmasya parikīrtanāt tu tām sītām aham manye.
me kathayataḥ tasya rakṣasaḥ nilayam śrūyatām.
18. Because she repeatedly called out Rama's name, I believe she was Sita. Now, listen to me as I describe the dwelling of that demon.
पुत्रो विश्रवसः साक्षाद्भ्राता वैश्रवणस्य च ।
अध्यास्ते नगरीं लङ्कां रावणो नाम राकसः ॥१९॥
19. putro viśravasaḥ sākṣādbhrātā vaiśravaṇasya ca ,
adhyāste nagarīṃ laṅkāṃ rāvaṇo nāma rākasaḥ.
19. putraḥ viśravasaḥ sākṣāt bhrātā vaiśravaṇasya ca
adhyāste nagarīm laṅkām rāvaṇaḥ nāma rākṣasaḥ
19. saḥ viśravasaḥ putraḥ,
vaiśravaṇasya ca sākṣāt bhrātā.
rāvaṇaḥ nāma rākṣasaḥ laṅkām nagarīm adhyāste.
19. He is truly the son of Viśravas and the brother of Vaiśravaṇa (Kubera). A demon named Rāvaṇa resides in the city of Laṅkā.
इतो द्वीपे समुद्रस्य संपूर्णे शतयोजने ।
तस्मिंल् लङ्का पुरी रम्या निर्मिता विश्वकर्मणा ॥२०॥
20. ito dvīpe samudrasya saṃpūrṇe śatayojane ,
tasmiṃl laṅkā purī ramyā nirmitā viśvakarmaṇā.
20. itaḥ dvīpe samudrasya sampūrṇe śatayojane
tasmin laṅkā purī ramyā nirmitā viśvakarmaṇā
20. itaḥ samudrasya dvīpe sampūrṇe śatayojane
tasmin ramyā purī laṅkā viśvakarmaṇā nirmitā
20. From here, on an island in the ocean, a full hundred yojanas [in extent], is the beautiful city of Laṅkā, built by Viśvakarmā.
तस्यां वसति वैदेही दीना कौशेयवासिनी ।
रावणान्तःपुरे रुद्धा राक्षसीभिः सुरक्षिता ॥२१॥
21. tasyāṃ vasati vaidehī dīnā kauśeyavāsinī ,
rāvaṇāntaḥpure ruddhā rākṣasībhiḥ surakṣitā.
21. tasyām vasati vaidehī dīnā kauśeyavāsinī
rāvaṇāntaḥpure ruddhā rākṣasībhiḥ surakṣitā
21. tasyām dīnā kauśeyavāsinī rāvaṇāntaḥpure
ruddhā rākṣasībhiḥ surakṣitā vaidehī vasati
21. In that [city], Vaidehī lives, distressed and clad in silk, confined in Rāvaṇa's inner palace and well-guarded by Rākṣasīs.
जनकस्यात्मजां राज्ञस्तस्यां द्रक्ष्यथ मैथिलीम् ।
लङ्कायामथ गुप्तायां सागरेण समन्ततः ॥२२॥
22. janakasyātmajāṃ rājñastasyāṃ drakṣyatha maithilīm ,
laṅkāyāmatha guptāyāṃ sāgareṇa samantataḥ.
22. janakasya ātmajām rājñaḥ tasyām drakṣyatha
maithilīm laṅkāyām atha guptāyām sāgareṇa samantataḥ
22. atha sāgareṇa samantataḥ guptāyām laṅkāyām tasyām
rājñaḥ janakasya ātmajām maithilīm drakṣyatha
22. In that [city] Laṅkā, which is guarded on all sides by the ocean, you will see Maithilī, the daughter of King Janaka.
संप्राप्य सागरस्यान्तं संपूर्णं शतयोजनम् ।
आसाद्य दक्षिणं कूलं ततो द्रक्ष्यथ रावणम् ॥२३॥
23. saṃprāpya sāgarasyāntaṃ saṃpūrṇaṃ śatayojanam ,
āsādya dakṣiṇaṃ kūlaṃ tato drakṣyatha rāvaṇam.
23. samprāpya sāgarasya antam sampūrṇam śatayojanam
āsādya dakṣiṇam kūlam tataḥ drakṣyatha rāvaṇam
23. sampūrṇam śatayojanam sāgarasya antam samprāpya
dakṣiṇam kūlam āsādya tataḥ rāvaṇam drakṣyatha
23. After completely traversing the ocean's expanse of a hundred yojanas and reaching its southern shore, you will then see Rāvaṇa.
तत्रैव त्वरिताः क्षिप्रं विक्रमध्वं प्लवंगमाः ।
ज्ञानेन खलु पश्यामि दृष्ट्वा प्रत्यागमिष्यथ ॥२४॥
24. tatraiva tvaritāḥ kṣipraṃ vikramadhvaṃ plavaṃgamāḥ ,
jñānena khalu paśyāmi dṛṣṭvā pratyāgamiṣyatha.
24. tatra eva tvaritāḥ kṣipraṃ vikramadhvaṃ plavaṅgamāḥ
jñānena khalu paśyāmi dṛṣṭvā prati āgamiṣyatha
24. plavaṅgamāḥ kṣipraṃ tvaritāḥ tatra eva vikramadhvaṃ
khalu jñānena paśyāmi dṛṣṭvā prati āgamiṣyatha
24. O monkeys, quickly and swiftly proceed to that very place! I certainly perceive through my knowledge (jñāna) that you will return after having seen [it].
आद्यः पन्थाः कुलिङ्गानां ये चान्ये धान्यजीविनः ।
द्वितीयो बलिभोजानां ये च वृक्षफलाशिनः ॥२५॥
25. ādyaḥ panthāḥ kuliṅgānāṃ ye cānye dhānyajīvinaḥ ,
dvitīyo balibhojānāṃ ye ca vṛkṣaphalāśinaḥ.
25. ādyaḥ panthāḥ kuliṅgānāṃ ye ca anye dhānyajīvinaḥ
dvitīyaḥ balibhojānāṃ ye ca vṛkṣaphalāśinaḥ
25. ādyaḥ panthāḥ kuliṅgānāṃ ye ca anye dhānyajīvinaḥ
dvitīyaḥ balibhojānāṃ ye ca vṛkṣaphalāśinaḥ
25. The first path is for sparrows and other grain-eating birds. The second is for crows (balibhoja) and those birds that subsist on tree fruits.
भासास्तृतीयं गच्छन्ति क्रौञ्चाश्च कुररैः सह ।
श्येनाश्चतुर्थं गच्छन्ति गृध्रा गच्छन्ति पञ्चमम् ॥२६॥
26. bhāsāstṛtīyaṃ gacchanti krauñcāśca kuraraiḥ saha ,
śyenāścaturthaṃ gacchanti gṛdhrā gacchanti pañcamam.
26. bhāsāḥ tṛtīyaṃ gacchanti krauñcāḥ ca kuraraiḥ saha
śyenāḥ caturthaṃ gacchanti gṛdhrāḥ gacchanti pañcamam
26. bhāsāḥ krauñcāḥ ca kuraraiḥ saha tṛtīyaṃ gacchanti
śyenāḥ caturthaṃ gacchanti gṛdhrāḥ pañcamam gacchanti
26. Vultures (bhāsa) take the third path, and curlews along with ospreys. Hawks take the fourth, and general vultures (gṛdhra) take the fifth.
बलवीर्योपपन्नानां रूपयौवनशालिनाम् ।
षष्ठस्तु पन्था हंसानां वैनतेयगतिः परा ।
वैनतेयाच्च नो जन्म सर्वेषां वानरर्षभाः ॥२७॥
27. balavīryopapannānāṃ rūpayauvanaśālinām ,
ṣaṣṭhastu panthā haṃsānāṃ vainateyagatiḥ parā ,
vainateyācca no janma sarveṣāṃ vānararṣabhāḥ.
27. balavīryopapannānāṃ rūpayauvanaśālinām
ṣaṣṭhaḥ tu panthāḥ haṃsānāṃ
vainateyagatiḥ parā vainateyāt ca
naḥ janma sarveṣāṃ vānararṣabhāḥ
27. tu ṣaṣṭhaḥ panthāḥ balavīryopapannānāṃ
rūpayauvanaśālinām haṃsānāṃ
vainateyagatiḥ parā vānararṣabhāḥ
sarveṣāṃ naḥ janma ca vainateyāt
27. However, the sixth path belongs to swans, to those endowed with strength, valor, beauty, and youth. It is a supreme speed, like that of Vinata's son (Vainateya). O best of monkeys, our birth too is from Vainateya.
गर्हितं तु कृतं कर्म येन स्म पिशिताशनाः ।
इहस्थो ऽहं प्रपश्यामि रावणं जानकीं तथा ॥२८॥
28. garhitaṃ tu kṛtaṃ karma yena sma piśitāśanāḥ ,
ihastho'haṃ prapaśyāmi rāvaṇaṃ jānakīṃ tathā.
28. garhitam tu kṛtam karma yena sma piśitāśanāḥ
ihasthaḥ aham prapaśyāmi rāvaṇam jānakīm tathā
28. yena piśitāśanāḥ kṛtam garhitam tu karma sma
ihasthaḥ aham rāvaṇam jānakīm tathā prapaśyāmi
28. Indeed, the reprehensible act (karma) was committed by the flesh-eaters. From my position here, I clearly see Rāvaṇa and Jānakī.
अस्माकमपि सौवर्णं दिव्यं चक्षुर्बलं तथा ।
तस्मादाहारवीर्येण निसर्गेण च वानराः ।
आयोजनशतात् साग्राद्वयं पश्याम नित्यशः ॥२९॥
29. asmākamapi sauvarṇaṃ divyaṃ cakṣurbalaṃ tathā ,
tasmādāhāravīryeṇa nisargeṇa ca vānarāḥ ,
āyojanaśatāt sāgrādvayaṃ paśyāma nityaśaḥ.
29. asmākam api sauvarṇam divyam cakṣuḥ
balam tathā tasmāt āhāravīryeṇa
nisargeṇa ca vānarāḥ āyojanaśatāt
sāgrāt vayam paśyāma nityaśaḥ
29. vānarāḥ asmākam api sauvarṇam divyam
cakṣuḥ balam tathā (asti) tasmāt
nisargeṇa ca āhāravīryeṇa ca vayam
āyojanaśatāt sāgrāt nityaśaḥ paśyāma
29. O Vanaras, we also possess a golden, divine power of sight. Therefore, by our very nature and by the potency of our food, we constantly see from a distance of over a hundred yojanas.
अस्माकं विहिता वृत्तिर्निसार्गेण च दूरतः ।
विहिता पादमूले तु वृत्तिश्चरणयोधिनाम् ॥३०॥
30. asmākaṃ vihitā vṛttirnisārgeṇa ca dūrataḥ ,
vihitā pādamūle tu vṛttiścaraṇayodhinām.

vihitā pādamūle tu vṛttiḥ caraṇayodhinām

30. Our mode of activity is ordained by nature and from afar. However, for foot-soldiers, their mode of activity is ordained at the feet (of their commander).
उपायो दृश्यतां कश्चिल् लङ्घने लवणाम्भसः ।
अभिगम्य तु वैदेहीं समृद्धार्था गमिष्यथ ॥३१॥
31. upāyo dṛśyatāṃ kaścil laṅghane lavaṇāmbhasaḥ ,
abhigamya tu vaidehīṃ samṛddhārthā gamiṣyatha.
31. upāyaḥ dṛśyatām kaścit laṅghane lavaṇāmbhasaḥ
abhigamya tu vaidehīm samṛddhārthāḥ gamiṣyatha
31. lavaṇāmbhasaḥ laṅghane kaścit upāyaḥ dṛśyatām tu
vaidehīm abhigamya samṛddhārthāḥ (yūyam) gamiṣyatha
31. Let some means be found for crossing the salty ocean. However, after reaching Vaidehī, you will depart with your purpose fulfilled.
समुद्रं नेतुमिच्छामि भवद्भिर्वरुणालयम् ।
प्रदास्याम्युदकं भ्रातुः स्वर्गतस्य महात्मनः ॥३२॥
32. samudraṃ netumicchāmi bhavadbhirvaruṇālayam ,
pradāsyāmyudakaṃ bhrātuḥ svargatasya mahātmanaḥ.
32. samudram netum icchāmi bhavadbhiḥ varuṇālayam
pradāsyāmi udakam bhrātuḥ svargatasya mahātmanaḥ
32. bhavadbhiḥ samudram varuṇālayam netum icchāmi
bhrātuḥ svargatasya mahātmanaḥ udakam pradāsyāmi
32. I desire to bring (the sacred river to) the ocean, the abode of Varuṇa, with your assistance. I will offer water for my noble brother who has departed for heaven.
ततो नीत्वा तु तं देशं तीरे नदनदीपतेः ।
निर्दग्धपक्षं संपातिं वानराः सुमहौजसः ॥३३॥
33. tato nītvā tu taṃ deśaṃ tīre nadanadīpateḥ ,
nirdagdhapakṣaṃ saṃpātiṃ vānarāḥ sumahaujasaḥ.
33. tataḥ nītvā tu tam deśam tīre nadanadīpateḥ
nirdagdha-pakṣam sampātim vānarāḥ sumahaujasaḥ
33. tataḥ sumahaujasaḥ vānarāḥ nadanadīpateḥ tīre
tam deśam nītvā nirdagdha-pakṣam sampātim
33. Then, having reached that place on the shore of the ocean (the lord of rivers and streams), the extremely mighty monkeys (found) Sampati, whose wings were burnt.
पुनः प्रत्यानयित्वा वै तं देशं पतगेश्वरम् ।
बभूवुर्वानरा हृष्टाः प्रवृत्तिमुपलभ्य ते ॥३४॥
34. punaḥ pratyānayitvā vai taṃ deśaṃ patageśvaram ,
babhūvurvānarā hṛṣṭāḥ pravṛttimupalabhya te.

babhūvuḥ vānarāḥ hṛṣṭāḥ pravṛttim upalabhya te
34. te vānarāḥ patageśvaram tam deśam punaḥ

34. Having indeed brought back the lord of birds to that place, those monkeys became joyful after obtaining the news.
