मणिं दत्त्वा ततः सीता हनूमन्तमथाब्रवीत् ।
अभिज्ञानमभिज्ञातमेतद् रामस्य तत्त्वतः ॥१॥
1. maṇiṃ dattvā tataḥ sītā hanūmantamathābravīt ,
abhijñānamabhijñātametad rāmasya tattvataḥ.

1. Having given the jewel, Sita then spoke to Hanuman: "This is truly Rama's identified token of recognition."
मणिं तु दृष्ट्वा रामो वै त्रयाणां संस्मरिष्यति ।
वीरो जनन्या मम च राज्ञो दशरथस्य च ॥२॥
2. maṇiṃ tu dṛṣṭvā rāmo vai trayāṇāṃ saṃsmariṣyati ,
vīro jananyā mama ca rājño daśarathasya ca.
2. maṇim tu dṛṣṭvā rāmaḥ vai trayāṇām saṃsmariṣyati
vīraḥ jananyā mama ca rājñaḥ daśarathasya ca
2. vīraḥ rāmaḥ tu vai maṇim dṛṣṭvā mama jananyā ca
rājñaḥ daśarathasya ca trayāṇām saṃsmariṣyati
2. But indeed, having seen this jewel, the heroic Rama will certainly remember the three: my mother, myself, and King Dasharatha.
स भूयस्त्वं समुत्साहे चोदितो हरिसत्तम ।
अस्मिन् कार्यसमारम्भे प्रचिन्तय यदुत्तरम् ॥३॥
3. sa bhūyastvaṃ samutsāhe codito harisattama ,
asmin kāryasamārambhe pracintaya yaduttaram.
3. saḥ bhūyaḥ tvam samutsāhe coditaḥ harisattama
asmin kāryasamārambhe pracintaya yat uttaram
3. sa harisattama! tvam asmin kāryasamārambhe
bhūyaḥ samutsāhe coditaḥ yat uttaram pracintaya
3. O best of monkeys, you, being further urged with great enthusiasm in this undertaking, consider what the next course of action should be.
त्वमस्मिन् कार्यनिर्योगे प्रमाणं हरिसत्तम ।
तस्य चिन्तय यो यत्नो दुःखक्षयकरो भवेत् ॥४॥
4. tvamasmin kāryaniryoge pramāṇaṃ harisattama ,
tasya cintaya yo yatno duḥkhakṣayakaro bhavet.
4. tvam asmin kāryaniryoge pramāṇam harisattama
tasya cintaya yaḥ yatnaḥ duḥkhakṣayakaraḥ bhavet
4. harisattama tvam asmin kāryaniryoge pramāṇam
tasya cintaya yaḥ yatnaḥ duḥkhakṣayakaraḥ bhavet
4. O best of monkeys, you are the authority in this particular task. Therefore, consider what effort would be effective in eliminating sorrow.
स तथेति प्रतिज्ञाय मारुतिर्भीमविक्रमः ।
शिरसावन्द्य वैदेहीं गमनायोपचक्रमे ॥५॥
5. sa tatheti pratijñāya mārutirbhīmavikramaḥ ,
śirasāvandya vaidehīṃ gamanāyopacakrame.
5. saḥ tathā iti pratijñāya mārutiḥ bhīmavikramaḥ
śirasā vandya vaidehīm gamanāya upacakrame
5. saḥ mārutiḥ bhīmavikramaḥ tathā iti pratijñāya
śirasā vaidehīm vandya gamanāya upacakrame
5. Having assented with 'So be it,' Hanuman, of formidable valor, bowed his head to Vaidehī and prepared for his departure.
ज्ञात्वा संप्रस्थितं देवी वानरं मारुतात्मजम् ।
बाष्पगद्गदया वाचा मैथिली वाक्यमब्रवीत् ॥६॥
6. jñātvā saṃprasthitaṃ devī vānaraṃ mārutātmajam ,
bāṣpagadgadayā vācā maithilī vākyamabravīt.
6. jñātvā samprasthitam devī vānaram mārutātmajam
bāṣpagadgadayā vācā maithilī vākyam abravīt
6. devī maithilī vānaram mārutātmajam samprasthitam
jñātvā bāṣpagadgadayā vācā vākyam abravīt
6. Knowing that the monkey, the son of the wind god (mārutātmajam), had set forth, Princess Maithilī, with a voice choked with tears, spoke these words.
कुशलं हनुमन्ब्रूयाः सहितौ रामलक्ष्मणौ ।
सुग्रीवं च सहामात्यं वृद्धान् सर्वांश्च वानरान् ॥७॥
7. kuśalaṃ hanumanbrūyāḥ sahitau rāmalakṣmaṇau ,
sugrīvaṃ ca sahāmātyaṃ vṛddhān sarvāṃśca vānarān.
7. kuśalam hanuman brūyāḥ sahitau rāmalakṣmaṇau
sugrīvam ca sahamātyam vṛddhān sarvān ca vānarān
7. hanuman kuśalam rāmalakṣmaṇau sahitau sugrīvam
sahamātyam ca sarvān vṛddhān vānarān ca brūyāḥ
7. O Hanuman, please convey my welfare to Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa, who are together, as well as to Sugrīva with his ministers, and to all the elder monkeys.
यथा च स महाबाहुर्मां तारयति राघवः ।
अस्माद्दुःखाम्बुसंरोधात्त्वं समाधातुमर्हसि ॥८॥
8. yathā ca sa mahābāhurmāṃ tārayati rāghavaḥ ,
asmādduḥkhāmbusaṃrodhāttvaṃ samādhātumarhasi.
8. yathā ca saḥ mahābāhuḥ mām tārayati rāghavaḥ
asmāt duḥkhāmbu-saṃrodhāt tvam samādhātum arhasi
8. You ought to reassure me about how that mighty-armed Rāghava will deliver me from this ocean of sorrow and confinement.
जीवन्तीं मां यथा रामः संभावयति कीर्तिमान् ।
तत्त्वया हनुमन् वाच्यं वाचा धर्ममवाप्नुहि ॥९॥
9. jīvantīṃ māṃ yathā rāmaḥ saṃbhāvayati kīrtimān ,
tattvayā hanuman vācyaṃ vācā dharmamavāpnuhi.
9. jīvantīm mām yathā rāmaḥ saṃbhāvayati kīrtimān
tat tvayā hanuman vācyam vācā dharmam avāpnuhi
9. Hanumān, you must convey with your words how glorious Rāma, believing me to be alive, regards me with respect. By this speech, fulfill your natural law (dharma).
नित्यमुत्साहयुक्ताश्च वाचः श्रुत्वा मयेरिताः ।
वर्धिष्यते दाशरथेः पौरुषं मदवाप्तये ॥१०॥
10. nityamutsāhayuktāśca vācaḥ śrutvā mayeritāḥ ,
vardhiṣyate dāśaratheḥ pauruṣaṃ madavāptaye.
10. nityam utsāhayuktāḥ ca vācaḥ śrutvā mayā īritāḥ
vardhiṣyate dāśaratheḥ pauruṣam mad-avāptaye
10. And having heard these words, spoken by me and full of encouragement, the valor of Daśaratha's son (Rāma) will certainly increase for my retrieval.
मत्संदेशयुता वाचस्त्वत्तः श्रुत्वैव राघवः ।
पराक्रमविधिं वीरो विधिवत् संविधास्यति ॥११॥
11. matsaṃdeśayutā vācastvattaḥ śrutvaiva rāghavaḥ ,
parākramavidhiṃ vīro vidhivat saṃvidhāsyati.
11. mat-saṃdeśa-yutāḥ vācaḥ tvattaḥ śrutvā eva rāghavaḥ
vīraḥ parākrama-vidhim vidhivat saṃvidhāsyati
11. Having heard from you alone the words bearing my message, the heroic Rāghava will properly execute his plan of valor.
सीतायास्तद्वचः श्रुत्वा हनुमान्मारुतात्मजः ।
शिरस्यञ्जलिमाधाय वाक्यमुत्तरमब्रवीत् ॥१२॥
12. sītāyāstadvacaḥ śrutvā hanumānmārutātmajaḥ ,
śirasyañjalimādhāya vākyamuttaramabravīt.
12. sītāyāḥ tat vacaḥ śrutvā hanumān mārutātmajaḥ
śirasi añjalim ādhāya vākyam uttaram abravīt
12. sītāyāḥ tat vacaḥ śrutvā hanumān mārutātmajaḥ
śirasi añjalim ādhāya uttaram vākyam abravīt
12. Having heard those words of Sītā, Hanumān, the son of the Wind God, placed his folded hands on his head and spoke the following reply.
क्षिप्रमेष्यति काकुत्स्थो हर्यृक्षप्रवरैर्वृतः ।
यस्ते युधि विजित्यारीञ् शोकं व्यपनयिष्यति ॥१३॥
13. kṣiprameṣyati kākutstho haryṛkṣapravarairvṛtaḥ ,
yaste yudhi vijityārīñ śokaṃ vyapanayiṣyati.
13. kṣipram eṣyati kākutsthaḥ haryaṛkṣapravaraiḥ vṛtaḥ
yaḥ te yudhi vijitya arīn śokam vyapanayiṣyati
13. kākutsthaḥ kṣipram haryaṛkṣapravaraiḥ vṛtaḥ eṣyati
yaḥ yudhi arīn vijitya te śokam vyapanayiṣyati
13. Rāma, the descendant of Kakutstha, will quickly come, accompanied by the foremost of monkeys and bears. He will conquer your enemies in battle and will remove your sorrow.
न हि पश्यामि मर्त्येषु नामरेष्वसुरेषु वा ।
यस्तस्य वमतो बाणान् स्थातुमुत्सहते ऽग्रतः ॥१४॥
14. na hi paśyāmi martyeṣu nāmareṣvasureṣu vā ,
yastasya vamato bāṇān sthātumutsahate'grataḥ.
14. na hi paśyāmi martyeṣu na amareṣu asureṣu vā
yaḥ tasya vamataḥ bāṇān sthātum utsahate agrataḥ
14. hi na martyeṣu na amareṣu vā asureṣu (kañcit) paśyāmi
yaḥ tasya bāṇān vamataḥ agrataḥ sthātum utsahate
14. Indeed, I do not see anyone among mortals, nor among gods or demons, who would dare to stand before him as he discharges arrows.
अप्यर्कमपि पर्जन्यमपि वैवस्वतं यमम् ।
स हि सोढुं रणे शक्तस्तवहेतोर्विशेषतः ॥१५॥
15. apyarkamapi parjanyamapi vaivasvataṃ yamam ,
sa hi soḍhuṃ raṇe śaktastavahetorviśeṣataḥ.
15. api arkam api parjanyam api vaivasvatam yamam
saḥ hi soḍhum raṇe śaktaḥ tavahetoḥ viśeṣataḥ
15. saḥ hi raṇe api arkam api parjanyam api vaivasvatam
yamam ca soḍhum śaktaḥ tavahetoḥ viśeṣataḥ
15. Indeed, he is capable of enduring even the Sun, even Parjanya (the rain god), and even Yama, the son of Vivasvat, in battle, especially for your sake.
स हि सागरपर्यन्तां महीं शासितुमीहते ।
त्वन्निमित्तो हि रामस्य जयो जनकनन्दिनि ॥१६॥
16. sa hi sāgaraparyantāṃ mahīṃ śāsitumīhate ,
tvannimitto hi rāmasya jayo janakanandini.
16. saḥ hi sāgaraparyantām mahīm śāsitum īhate
tvat nimittaḥ hi rāmasya jayaḥ janakanandini
16. saḥ hi sāgaraparyantām mahīm śāsitum īhate
janakanandini tvat nimittaḥ hi rāmasya jayaḥ
16. Indeed, he (Rama) desires to rule the earth, which extends to the ocean's shore. For your sake, O daughter of Janaka (Sita), is Rama's victory.
तस्य तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा सम्यक् सत्यं सुभाषितम् ।
जानकी बहु मेने ऽथ वचनं चेदमब्रवीत् ॥१७॥
17. tasya tadvacanaṃ śrutvā samyak satyaṃ subhāṣitam ,
jānakī bahu mene'tha vacanaṃ cedamabravīt.
17. tasya tat vacanam śrutvā samyak satyam subhāṣitam
jānakī bahu mene atha vacanam ca idam abravīt
17. tasya tat samyak satyam subhāṣitam vacanam śrutvā
jānakī bahu mene atha ca idam vacanam abravīt
17. Hearing those words of his, which were perfectly true and well-spoken, Janaki (Sita) greatly appreciated them, and then she spoke these words.
ततस्तं प्रस्थितं सीता वीक्षमाणा पुनः पुनः ।
भर्तुः स्नेहान्वितं वाक्यं सौहार्दादनुमानयत् ॥१८॥
18. tatastaṃ prasthitaṃ sītā vīkṣamāṇā punaḥ punaḥ ,
bhartuḥ snehānvitaṃ vākyaṃ sauhārdādanumānayat.
18. tataḥ tam prasthitam sītā vīkṣamāṇā punaḥ punaḥ
bhartuḥ sneha anvitam vākyam sauhārdāt anumānayat
18. tataḥ sītā tam prasthitam punaḥ punaḥ vīkṣamāṇā
bhartuḥ sneha anvitam vākyam sauhārdāt anumānayat
18. Then, as he departed, Sita, gazing at him again and again, considered his words, which were full of affection, perceiving them out of profound good-will.
यदि वा मन्यसे वीर वसैकाहमरिंदम ।
कस्मिंश्चित् संवृते देशे विश्रान्तः श्वो गमिष्यसि ॥१९॥
19. yadi vā manyase vīra vasaikāhamariṃdama ,
kasmiṃścit saṃvṛte deśe viśrāntaḥ śvo gamiṣyasi.
19. yadi vā manyase vīra vasa ekāham arimdam kasmin
cit saṃvṛte deśe viśrāntaḥ śvaḥ gamiṣyasi
19. vīra arimdam yadi vā manyase ekāham vasa kasmin
cit saṃvṛte deśe viśrāntaḥ śvaḥ gamiṣyasi
19. If you deem it proper, O hero, O vanquisher of foes, stay for one day. Having rested in some secluded spot, you can depart tomorrow.
मम चेदल्पभाग्यायाः साम्निध्यात्तव वीर्यवान् ।
अस्य शोकस्य महतो मुहूर्तं मोक्षणं भवेत् ॥२०॥
20. mama cedalpabhāgyāyāḥ sāmnidhyāttava vīryavān ,
asya śokasya mahato muhūrtaṃ mokṣaṇaṃ bhavet.
20. mama cet alpabhāgyāyāḥ sāmnidhyāt tava vīryavān
asya śokasya mahataḥ muhūrtaṃ mokṣaṇaṃ bhavet
20. mama alpabhāgyāyāḥ tava vīryavān sāmnidhyāt asya
mahataḥ śokasya muhūrtaṃ mokṣaṇaṃ cet bhavet
20. If, due to your powerful presence, I, who am so unfortunate, could find even a moment's relief (mokṣaṇa) from this great sorrow.
गते हि हरिशार्दूल पुनरागमनाय तु ।
प्राणानामपि संदेहो मम स्यान्नात्र संशयः ॥२१॥
21. gate hi hariśārdūla punarāgamanāya tu ,
prāṇānāmapi saṃdeho mama syānnātra saṃśayaḥ.
21. gate hi hariśārdūla punaḥ āgamanāya tu prāṇānām
api saṃdehaḥ mama syāt na atra saṃśayaḥ
21. hariśārdūla hi tu gate punaḥ āgamanāya mama
prāṇānām api saṃdehaḥ syāt atra na saṃśayaḥ
21. Indeed, O tiger among monkeys, if you depart, there will be doubt even for my life concerning your return. There is no uncertainty in this matter.
तवादर्शनजः शोको भूयो मां परितापयेत् ।
दुःखाद्दुःखपरामृष्टां दीपयन्निव वानर ॥२२॥
22. tavādarśanajaḥ śoko bhūyo māṃ paritāpayet ,
duḥkhādduḥkhaparāmṛṣṭāṃ dīpayanniva vānara.
22. tava adarśanajaḥ śokaḥ bhūyaḥ mām paritāpayet
duḥkhāt duḥkhaparāmṛṣṭām dīpayan iva vānara
22. vānara,
tava adarśanajaḥ śokaḥ,
duḥkhāt duḥkhaparāmṛṣṭām mām bhūyaḥ dīpayan iva,
paritāpayet
22. O monkey (vānara), the sorrow arising from your absence would further torment me, already deeply afflicted by suffering, as if setting me ablaze.
अयं च वीर संदेहस्तिष्ठतीव ममाग्रतः ।
सुमहांस्त्वत्सहायेषु हर्यृक्षेषु हरीश्वर ॥२३॥
23. ayaṃ ca vīra saṃdehastiṣṭhatīva mamāgrataḥ ,
sumahāṃstvatsahāyeṣu haryṛkṣeṣu harīśvara.
23. ayam ca vīra saṃdehaḥ tiṣṭhati iva mama agrataḥ
sumahān tvatsahāyeṣu haryṛkṣeṣu harīśvara
23. ca vīra harīśvara,
ayam sumahān saṃdehaḥ mama agrataḥ tvatsahāyeṣu haryṛkṣeṣu iva tiṣṭhati
23. And, O hero, this very great doubt stands before me, O lord of monkeys, regarding your monkey and bear allies.
कथं नु खलु दुष्पारं तरिष्यन्ति महोदधिम् ।
तानि हर्यृक्षसैन्यानि तौ वा नरवरात्मजौ ॥२४॥
24. kathaṃ nu khalu duṣpāraṃ tariṣyanti mahodadhim ,
tāni haryṛkṣasainyāni tau vā naravarātmajau.
24. katham nu khalu duṣpāram tariṣyanti mahodadhim
tāni haryṛkṣasainyāni tau vā naravarātmajau
24. tāni haryṛkṣasainyāni tau vā naravarātmajau
katham nu khalu duṣpāram mahodadhim tariṣyanti
24. How indeed will those armies of monkeys and bears, or those two sons of the best of men, cross this great, impassable ocean?
त्रयाणामेव भूतानां सागरस्येह लङ्घने ।
शक्तिः स्याद्वैनतेयस्य तव वा मारुतस्य वा ॥२५॥
25. trayāṇāmeva bhūtānāṃ sāgarasyeha laṅghane ,
śaktiḥ syādvainateyasya tava vā mārutasya vā.
25. trayāṇām eva bhūtānām sāgarasya iha laṅghane
śaktiḥ syāt vainateyasya tava vā mārutasya vā
25. iha sāgarasya laṅghane trayāṇām eva bhūtānām
śaktiḥ syāt vainateyasya tava vā mārutasya vā
25. Here, regarding the crossing of the ocean, the ability would belong to only three beings: to Vainateya (Garuḍa), to you, or to Māruta (Hanumān).
तदस्मिन् कार्यनिर्योगे वीरैवं दुरतिक्रमे ।
किं पश्यसि समाधानं त्वं हि कार्यविदां वरः ॥२६॥
26. tadasmin kāryaniryoge vīraivaṃ duratikrame ,
kiṃ paśyasi samādhānaṃ tvaṃ hi kāryavidāṃ varaḥ.
26. tat asmin kāryaniryoge vīra evam duratikrame
kim paśyasi samādhānam tvam hi kāryavidām varaḥ
26. vīra tvam hi kāryavidām varaḥ.
tat evam asmin duratikrame kāryaniryoge kim samādhānam paśyasi?
26. Therefore, O hero, in this difficult and hard-to-overcome undertaking, what solution do you see? For you are indeed the best among those who know how to accomplish tasks.
काममस्य त्वमेवैकः कार्यस्य परिसाधने ।
पर्याप्तः परवीरघ्न यशस्यस्ते बलोदयः ॥२७॥
27. kāmamasya tvamevaikaḥ kāryasya parisādhane ,
paryāptaḥ paravīraghna yaśasyaste balodayaḥ.
27. kāmam asya tvam eva ekaḥ kāryasya parisādhane
paryāptaḥ paravīraghna yaśasyaḥ te balodayaḥ
27. paravīraghna! kāmam tvam eva ekaḥ asya kāryasya parisādhane paryāptaḥ.
te yaśasyaḥ balodayaḥ.
27. Indeed, O slayer of enemy heroes, you alone are fully capable of accomplishing this task. Your rise of power is glorious.
बलैः समग्रैर्यदि मां रावणं जित्य संयुगे ।
विजयी स्वपुरं यायात्तत्तु मे स्याद् यशस्करम् ॥२८॥
28. balaiḥ samagrairyadi māṃ rāvaṇaṃ jitya saṃyuge ,
vijayī svapuraṃ yāyāttattu me syād yaśaskaram.
28. balaiḥ samagraiḥ yadi mām rāvaṇam jitya saṃyuge
vijayī svapuram yāyāt tat tu me syāt yaśaskaram
28. yadi vijayī samagraiḥ balaiḥ saṃyuge rāvaṇam mām
jitya svapuram yāyāt tat tu me yaśaskaram syāt
28. If, having conquered both Ravana and me in battle with all his armies, he were to return victorious to his own city, that would truly bring me glory.
बलैस्तु संकुलां कृत्वा लङ्कां परबलार्दनः ।
मां नयेद् यदि काकुत्स्थस्तत्तस्य सदृशं भवेत् ॥२९॥
29. balaistu saṃkulāṃ kṛtvā laṅkāṃ parabalārdanaḥ ,
māṃ nayed yadi kākutsthastattasya sadṛśaṃ bhavet.
29. balaiḥ tu saṃkulām kṛtvā laṅkām parabalārdanaḥ
mām nayet yadi kākutsthaḥ tat tasya sadṛśam bhavet
29. tu yadi parabalārdanaḥ kākutsthaḥ balaiḥ laṅkām
saṃkulām kṛtvā mām nayet tat tasya sadṛśam bhavet
29. However, if Kakutstha (Rama), the destroyer of enemy armies, were to make Lanka crowded with his forces and then take me away, that would be befitting for him.
तद् यथा तस्य विक्रान्तमनुरूपं महात्मनः ।
भवेदाहव शूरस्य तथा त्वमुपपादय ॥३०॥
30. tad yathā tasya vikrāntamanurūpaṃ mahātmanaḥ ,
bhavedāhava śūrasya tathā tvamupapādaya.
30. tat yathā tasya vikrāntam anurūpam mahātmanaḥ
bhavet āhava śūrasya tathā tvam upapādaya
30. tat tvam upapādaya yathā tasya āhava
śūrasya mahātmanaḥ vikrāntam anurūpam bhavet
30. Therefore, you should arrange it so that his prowess is appropriate for that great soul, the hero in battle.
तदर्थोपहितं वाक्यं सहितं हेतुसंहितम् ।
निशम्य हनुमाञ् शेषं वाक्यमुत्तरमब्रवीत् ॥३१॥
31. tadarthopahitaṃ vākyaṃ sahitaṃ hetusaṃhitam ,
niśamya hanumāñ śeṣaṃ vākyamuttaramabravīt.
31. tat arthopahitam vākyam sahitam hetusaṃhitam
niśamya hanumān śeṣam vākyam uttaram abravīt
31. hanumān tat arthopahitam hetusaṃhitam
vākyam niśamya śeṣam uttaram vākyam abravīt
31. Having heard that meaningful and rational speech, Hanuman then spoke the remaining reply.
देवि हर्यृक्षसैन्यानामीश्वरः प्लवतां वरः ।
सुग्रीवः सत्त्वसंपन्नस्तवार्थे कृतनिश्चयः ॥३२॥
32. devi haryṛkṣasainyānāmīśvaraḥ plavatāṃ varaḥ ,
sugrīvaḥ sattvasaṃpannastavārthe kṛtaniścayaḥ.
32. devi haryaṛkṣasainyānām īśvaraḥ plavatām varaḥ
sugrīvaḥ sattvasampannaḥ tava arthe kṛtaniścayaḥ
32. devi sugrīvaḥ haryaṛkṣasainyānām īśvaraḥ plavatām
varaḥ sattvasampannaḥ tava arthe kṛtaniścayaḥ
32. O Goddess, Sugrīva, the lord of the monkey and bear armies, the foremost among the leaping ones, endowed with great courage, is firmly resolved for your sake.
स वानरसहस्राणां कोटीभिरभिसंवृतः ।
क्षिप्रमेष्यति वैदेहि राक्षसानां निबर्हणः ॥३३॥
33. sa vānarasahasrāṇāṃ koṭībhirabhisaṃvṛtaḥ ,
kṣiprameṣyati vaidehi rākṣasānāṃ nibarhaṇaḥ.
33. saḥ vānarashasrāṇām koṭībhiḥ abhisaṃvṛtaḥ
kṣipram eṣyati vaidehi rākṣasānām nibarhaṇaḥ
33. vaidehi saḥ vānarashasrāṇām koṭībhiḥ abhisaṃvṛtaḥ
rākṣasānām nibarhaṇaḥ kṣipram eṣyati
33. He, accompanied by tens of millions of monkeys, will swiftly arrive, O princess of Videha, as the annihilator of the Rākṣasas.
तस्य विक्रमसंपन्नाः सत्त्ववन्तो महाबलाः ।
मनःसंकल्पसंपाता निदेशे हरयः स्थिताः ॥३४॥
34. tasya vikramasaṃpannāḥ sattvavanto mahābalāḥ ,
manaḥsaṃkalpasaṃpātā nideśe harayaḥ sthitāḥ.

manaḥsaṅkalpasampātāḥ nideśe harayaḥ sthitāḥ

34. His monkeys, endowed with prowess, full of courage, and immensely powerful, whose movements are as swift as thought, are stationed under his command.
येषां नोपरि नाधस्तान्न तिर्यक् सज्जते गतिः ।
न च कर्मसु सीदन्ति महत्स्वमिततेजसः ॥३५॥
35. yeṣāṃ nopari nādhastānna tiryak sajjate gatiḥ ,
na ca karmasu sīdanti mahatsvamitatejasaḥ.
35. yeṣām na upari na adhastāt na tiryak sajjate
gatiḥ na ca karmasu sīdanti mahatsu amitatejasaḥ
35. yeṣām gatiḥ upari na adhastāt na tiryak na
sajjate ca amitatejasaḥ mahatsu karmasu na sīdanti
35. Their movement is unimpeded, whether upwards, downwards, or sideways; and these beings of immeasurable valor do not falter in great endeavors.
असकृत्तैर्महोत्सहैः ससागरधराधरा ।
प्रदक्षिणीकृता भूमिर्वायुमार्गानुसारिभिः ॥३६॥
36. asakṛttairmahotsahaiḥ sasāgaradharādharā ,
pradakṣiṇīkṛtā bhūmirvāyumārgānusāribhiḥ.
36. asakṛt taiḥ mahotsāhaiḥ sa-sāgara-dharādharā
bhūmiḥ vāyumārgānusāribhiḥ pradakṣiṇīkṛtā
36. By those highly energetic ones, who traverse the aerial paths, the earth, including its oceans and mountains, has been repeatedly circumambulated.
मद्विशिष्टाश्च तुल्याश्च सन्ति तत्र वनौकसः ।
मत्तः प्रत्यवरः कश्चिन्नास्ति सुग्रीवसंनिधौ ॥३७॥
37. madviśiṣṭāśca tulyāśca santi tatra vanaukasaḥ ,
mattaḥ pratyavaraḥ kaścinnāsti sugrīvasaṃnidhau.
37. mat-viśiṣṭāḥ ca tulyāḥ ca santi tatra vanaukasaḥ
mattaḥ pratyavaraḥ kaścit na asti sugrīva-saṃnidhau
37. Among the forest-dwellers (vanaukasaḥ) there (in Sugrīva's army), some are superior to me, and some are my equals. Yet, no one inferior to me exists in the presence of (Sugrīva).
अहं तावदिह प्राप्तः किं पुनस्ते महाबलाः ।
न हि प्रकृष्टाः प्रेष्यन्ते प्रेष्यन्ते हीतरे जनाः ॥३८॥
38. ahaṃ tāvadiha prāptaḥ kiṃ punaste mahābalāḥ ,
na hi prakṛṣṭāḥ preṣyante preṣyante hītare janāḥ.
38. aham tāvat iha prāptaḥ kim punaḥ te mahābalāḥ na
hi prakṛṣṭāḥ preṣyante preṣyante hi itare janāḥ
38. I have arrived here; what then of those exceedingly powerful ones? Indeed, the most distinguished are not dispatched, but rather, others are sent.
तदलं परितापेन देवि शोको व्यपैतु ते ।
एकोत्पातेन ते लङ्कामेष्यन्ति हरियूथपाः ॥३९॥
39. tadalaṃ paritāpena devi śoko vyapaitu te ,
ekotpātena te laṅkāmeṣyanti hariyūthapāḥ.
39. tat alam paritāpena devi śokaḥ vyapaitu te
eka-utpātena te laṅkām eṣyanti hari-yūthapāḥ
39. Therefore, enough with this anguish, O Goddess (Devī)! Let your sorrow depart. Those monkey chiefs will arrive in Laṅkā with a single great leap.
मम पृष्ठगतौ तौ च चन्द्रसूर्याविवोदितौ ।
त्वत्सकाशं महासत्त्वौ नृसिंहावागमिष्यतः ॥४०॥
40. mama pṛṣṭhagatau tau ca candrasūryāvivoditau ,
tvatsakāśaṃ mahāsattvau nṛsiṃhāvāgamiṣyataḥ.
40. mama pṛṣṭhagatau tau ca candrasūryau iva uditau
tvatsakāśam mahāsattvau nṛsiṃhau āgamiṣyataḥ
40. tau ca mahāsattvau mama pṛṣṭhagatau candrasūryau

40. Those two valiant ones, positioned behind me, mighty like the rising moon and sun, will approach your presence like two lion-men.
तौ हि वीरौ नरवरौ सहितौ रामलक्ष्मणौ ।
आगम्य नगरीं लङ्कां सायकैर्विधमिष्यतः ॥४१॥
41. tau hi vīrau naravarau sahitau rāmalakṣmaṇau ,
āgamya nagarīṃ laṅkāṃ sāyakairvidhamiṣyataḥ.
41. tau hi vīrau naravarau sahitau rāmalakṣmaṇau
āgamya nagarīm laṅkām sāyakaiḥ vidhamiṣyataḥ
41. tau hi vīrau naravarau sahitau rāmalakṣmaṇau
laṅkām nagarīm āgamya sāyakaiḥ vidhamiṣyataḥ
41. Indeed, those two heroes, Rama and Lakshmana, the best among men, will approach the city of Lanka and devastate it with their arrows.
सगणं रावणं हत्वा राघवो रघुनन्दनः ।
त्वामादाय वरारोहे स्वपुरं प्रतियास्यति ॥४२॥
42. sagaṇaṃ rāvaṇaṃ hatvā rāghavo raghunandanaḥ ,
tvāmādāya varārohe svapuraṃ pratiyāsyati.
42. sagaṇam rāvaṇam hatvā rāghavaḥ raghunandanaḥ
tvām ādāya varārohe svapuram pratiyāsyati
42. varārohe rāghavaḥ raghunandanaḥ sagaṇam
rāvaṇam hatvā tvām ādāya svapuram pratiyāsyati
42. O lady of exquisite form, having slain Ravana along with his retinue, Rama, the delight of the Raghu dynasty, will take you and return to his own city.
तदाश्वसिहि भद्रं ते भव त्वं कालकाङ्क्षिणी ।
नचिराद्द्रक्ष्यसे रामं प्रज्वजन्तमिवानिलम् ॥४३॥
43. tadāśvasihi bhadraṃ te bhava tvaṃ kālakāṅkṣiṇī ,
nacirāddrakṣyase rāmaṃ prajvajantamivānilam.
43. tadā āśvasihi bhadram te bhava tvam kālakāṅkṣiṇī
nacirāt drakṣyase rāmam prajvajantam iva anilam
43. tadā āśvasihi.
te bhadram astu.
tvam kālakāṅkṣiṇī bhava.
nacirāt anilam iva prajvajantam rāmam drakṣyase.
43. Therefore, take comfort; may good fortune be yours. You should be one who patiently awaits the right time. Soon you will behold Rama, blazing fiercely like the wind.
निहते राक्षसेन्द्रे च सपुत्रामात्यबान्धवे ।
त्वं समेष्यसि रामेण शशाङ्केनेव रोहिणी ॥४४॥
44. nihate rākṣasendre ca saputrāmātyabāndhave ,
tvaṃ sameṣyasi rāmeṇa śaśāṅkeneva rohiṇī.
44. nihate rākṣasendre ca saputrāmātyabāndhave
tvam sameṣyasi rāmeṇa śaśāṅkena iva rohiṇī
44. rākṣasendre saputrāmātyabāndhave ca nihate
tvam rāmeṇa sameṣyasi rohiṇī śaśāṅkena iva
44. When the lord of rākṣasas is slain, along with his sons, ministers, and relatives, you will be reunited with Rāma, just as Rohiṇī is reunited with the Moon.
क्षिप्रं त्वं देवि शोकस्य पारं यास्यसि मैथिलि ।
रावणं चैव रामेण निहतं द्रक्ष्यसे ऽचिरात् ॥४५॥
45. kṣipraṃ tvaṃ devi śokasya pāraṃ yāsyasi maithili ,
rāvaṇaṃ caiva rāmeṇa nihataṃ drakṣyase'cirāt.
45. kṣipram tvam devi śokasya pāram yāsyasi maithili
rāvaṇam ca eva rāmeṇa nihatam drakṣyase acirāt
45. devi maithili tvam kṣipram śokasya pāram yāsyasi
ca eva rāmeṇa nihatam rāvaṇam acirāt drakṣyase
45. O goddess, Maithilī, you will quickly reach the end of your sorrow, and indeed, you will soon see Rāvaṇa slain by Rāma.
एवमाश्वस्य वैदेहीं हनूमान्मारुतात्मजः ।
गमनाय मतिं कृत्वा वैदेहीं पुनरब्रवीत् ॥४६॥
46. evamāśvasya vaidehīṃ hanūmānmārutātmajaḥ ,
gamanāya matiṃ kṛtvā vaidehīṃ punarabravīt.
46. evam āśvasya vaidehīm hanūmān mārutātmajaḥ
gamanāya matim kṛtvā vaidehīm punaḥ abravīt
46. evam vaidehīm āśvasya hanūmān mārutātmajaḥ
gamanāya matim kṛtvā punaḥ vaidehīm abravīt
46. After thus comforting Vaidehī, Hanumān, the son of the wind god (Marut), resolved to depart and then spoke to Vaidehī again.
तमरिघ्नं कृतात्मानं क्षिप्रं द्रक्ष्यसि राघवम् ।
लक्ष्मणं च धनुष्पाणिं लङ्काद्वारमुपस्थितम् ॥४७॥
47. tamarighnaṃ kṛtātmānaṃ kṣipraṃ drakṣyasi rāghavam ,
lakṣmaṇaṃ ca dhanuṣpāṇiṃ laṅkādvāramupasthitam.
47. tam arighnam kṛtātmānam kṣipram drakṣyasi rāghavam
lakṣmaṇam ca dhanuṣpāṇim laṅkādvāram upasthitam
47. tvam kṣipram arighnam kṛtātmānam tam rāghavam ca
dhanuṣpāṇim lakṣmaṇam laṅkādvāram upasthitam drakṣyasi
47. You will soon see Rāghava, the slayer of enemies and master of his senses, and Lakṣmaṇa, bow in hand, standing at the gate of Laṅkā.
नखदंष्ट्रायुधान् वीरान् सिंहशार्दूलविक्रमान् ।
वानरान् वारणेन्द्राभान् क्षिप्रं द्रक्ष्यसि संगतान् ॥४८॥
48. nakhadaṃṣṭrāyudhān vīrān siṃhaśārdūlavikramān ,
vānarān vāraṇendrābhān kṣipraṃ drakṣyasi saṃgatān.
48. nakhadaṃṣṭrāyudhān vīrān siṃhaśārdūlavikramān
vānarān vāraṇendrābhān kṣipram drakṣyasi saṃgatān
48. kṣipram drakṣyasi saṃgatān vānarān vīrān

48. You will quickly see the assembled valiant monkeys, whose weapons are nails and fangs, who possess the valor of lions and tigers, and who resemble great elephants.
शैलाम्बुदनिकाशानां लङ्कामलयसानुषु ।
नर्दतां कपिमुख्यानामार्ये यूथान्यनेकशः ॥४९॥
49. śailāmbudanikāśānāṃ laṅkāmalayasānuṣu ,
nardatāṃ kapimukhyānāmārye yūthānyanekaśaḥ.
49. śailāmbudanikāśānām laṅkāmalayasānuṣu
nardatām kapimukhyānām ārye yūthāni anekaśaḥ
49. ārye anekaśaḥ yūthāni kapimukhyānām nardatām
śailāmbudanikāśānām laṅkāmalayasānuṣu
49. O noble lady, you will see numerous hordes of principal monkeys, roaring on the mountain slopes of Laṅkā and Malaya, appearing like mountains and clouds.
स तु मर्मणि घोरेण ताडितो मन्मथेषुणा ।
न शर्म लभते रामः सिंहार्दित इव द्विपः ॥५०॥
50. sa tu marmaṇi ghoreṇa tāḍito manmatheṣuṇā ,
na śarma labhate rāmaḥ siṃhārdita iva dvipaḥ.
50. saḥ tu marmaṇi ghoreṇa tāḍitaḥ manmatheṣuṇā na
śarma labhate rāmaḥ siṃhārāditaḥ iva dvipaḥ
50. tu saḥ rāmaḥ ghoreṇa manmatheṣuṇā marmaṇi tāḍitaḥ śarma na labhate siṃhārāditaḥ dvipaḥ iva.
50. But he, Rāma, struck in a vital spot by the terrible arrow of Kāma, finds no comfort, like an elephant tormented by a lion.
मा रुदो देवि शोकेन मा भूत्ते मनसो ऽप्रियम् ।
शचीव पथ्या शक्रेण भर्त्रा नाथवती ह्यसि ॥५१॥
51. mā rudo devi śokena mā bhūtte manaso'priyam ,
śacīva pathyā śakreṇa bhartrā nāthavatī hyasi.
51. mā rudaḥ devi śokena mā bhūt te manasaḥ apriyam
śacī iva pathyā śakreṇa bhartrā nāthavatī hi asi
51. devi mā śokena rudaḥ.
te manasaḥ apriyam mā bhūt.
hi tvaṃ bhartrā śakreṇa śacī iva pathyā nāthavatī asi.
51. O goddess, do not weep from sorrow; let nothing disagreeable occur to your mind. For you are indeed protected by your husband, just as Śacī is protected by Śakra (Indra), having a true lord.
रामाद्विशिष्टः को ऽन्यो ऽस्ति कश्चित् सौमित्रिणा समः ।
अग्निमारुतकल्पौ तौ भ्रातरौ तव संश्रयौ ॥५२॥
52. rāmādviśiṣṭaḥ ko'nyo'sti kaścit saumitriṇā samaḥ ,
agnimārutakalpau tau bhrātarau tava saṃśrayau.
52. rāmāt viśiṣṭaḥ kaḥ anyaḥ asti kaścit saumitriṇā
samaḥ agnimārutakalpau tau bhrātarau tava saṃśrayau
52. kaḥ anyaḥ rāmāt viśiṣṭaḥ asti kaścit saumitriṇā
samaḥ agnimārutakalpau tau bhrātarau tava saṃśrayau
52. Who else is superior to Rāma? And who is equal to Saumitri? Those two brothers, comparable to fire and wind, are your protectors.
नास्मिंश्चिरं वत्स्यसि देवि देशे रक्षोगणैरध्युषितो ऽतिरौद्रे ।
न ते चिरादागमनं प्रियस्य क्षमस्व मत्संगमकालमात्रम् ॥५३॥
53. nāsmiṃściraṃ vatsyasi devi deśe rakṣogaṇairadhyuṣito'tiraudre ,
na te cirādāgamanaṃ priyasya kṣamasva matsaṃgamakālamātram.
53. na asmin ciram vatsyasi devi deśe
rakṣogaṇaiḥ adhyuṣitaḥ atiraudre
na te cirāt āgamanam priyasya
kṣamasva matsaṅgamakālamātram
53. devi tvam asmin rakṣogaṇaiḥ
adhyuṣitaḥ atiraudre deśe ciram na
vatsyasi priyasya te āgamanam cirāt
na matsaṅgamakālamātram kṣamasva
53. O Goddess, you will not stay long in this land, which is exceedingly dreadful and infested by hordes of Rākṣasas. The arrival of your beloved will not be delayed. Please bear with only this period of our meeting.
