एतच्छ्रुत्वा शुभं वाक्यं राघवेण सुभाषितम् ।
इदं शुभतरं वाक्यं व्याजहार महेश्वरः ॥१॥
1. etacchrutvā śubhaṃ vākyaṃ rāghaveṇa subhāṣitam ,

1. Having heard these auspicious words well-spoken by Rāma (Rāghava), Maheśvara then uttered these even more auspicious words.
पुष्कराक्ष महाबाहो महावक्षः परंतप ।
दिष्ट्या कृतमिदं कर्म त्वया शस्त्रभृतां वर ॥२॥
2. puṣkarākṣa mahābāho mahāvakṣaḥ paraṃtapa ,
diṣṭyā kṛtamidaṃ karma tvayā śastrabhṛtāṃ vara.

kṛtam idam karma tvayā śastrabhṛtām vara

2. O lotus-eyed one, O mighty-armed one, O broad-chested one, O tormentor of foes! By good fortune, this deed (karma) has been accomplished by you, O best among weapon-bearers.
दिष्ट्या सर्वस्य लोकस्य प्रवृद्धं दारुणं तमः ।
अपावृत्तं त्वया संख्ये राम रावणजं भयम् ॥३॥
3. diṣṭyā sarvasya lokasya pravṛddhaṃ dāruṇaṃ tamaḥ ,
apāvṛttaṃ tvayā saṃkhye rāma rāvaṇajaṃ bhayam.

3. By good fortune, Rama, the terrible, pervasive darkness of fear born from Ravana, which had afflicted all the worlds, has been dispelled by you in battle.
आश्वास्य भरतं दीनं कौसल्यां च यशस्विनीम् ।
कैकेयीं च सुमित्रां च दृष्ट्वा लक्ष्मणमातरम् ॥४॥
4. āśvāsya bharataṃ dīnaṃ kausalyāṃ ca yaśasvinīm ,
kaikeyīṃ ca sumitrāṃ ca dṛṣṭvā lakṣmaṇamātaram.

4. Having consoled the distressed Bharata, and the illustrious Kausalya, as well as Kaikeyi and Sumitra; and after seeing Lakshmana's mother...
प्राप्य राज्यमयोध्यायां नन्दयित्वा सुहृज्जनम् ।
इक्ष्वाकूणां कुले वंशं स्थापयित्वा महाबल ॥५॥
5. prāpya rājyamayodhyāyāṃ nandayitvā suhṛjjanam ,
ikṣvākūṇāṃ kule vaṃśaṃ sthāpayitvā mahābala.

5. Having obtained the kingdom in Ayodhya, having gladdened your well-wishers, and having re-established the lineage within the Ikshvaku dynasty, O mighty hero...
इष्ट्वा तुरगमेधेन प्राप्य चानुत्तमं यशः ।
ब्राह्मणेभ्यो धनं दत्त्वा त्रिदिवं गन्तुमर्हसि ॥६॥
6. iṣṭvā turagamedhena prāpya cānuttamaṃ yaśaḥ ,
brāhmaṇebhyo dhanaṃ dattvā tridivaṃ gantumarhasi.
6. iṣṭvā turagamedhena prāpya ca anuttamam yaśaḥ
brāhmaṇebhyaḥ dhanam dattvā tridivam gantum arhasi

6. Having performed the horse (yajña), and having attained unsurpassed fame, after distributing wealth to brāhmaṇas, you are worthy to ascend to the celestial realm (tridivam).
एष राजा विमानस्थः पिता दशरथस्तव ।
काकुत्स्थ मानुषे लोके गुरुस्तव महायशाः ॥७॥
7. eṣa rājā vimānasthaḥ pitā daśarathastava ,
kākutstha mānuṣe loke gurustava mahāyaśāḥ.

7. kākutstha eṣaḥ tava pitā rājā daśarathaḥ

7. This is your father, King Daśaratha, seated in the celestial vehicle. O Kākutstha, he was your highly renowned teacher (guru) in the human world.
इन्द्रलोकं गतः श्रीमांस्त्वया पुत्रेण तारितः ।
लक्ष्मणेन सह भ्रात्रा त्वमेनमभिवादय ॥८॥
8. indralokaṃ gataḥ śrīmāṃstvayā putreṇa tāritaḥ ,
lakṣmaṇena saha bhrātrā tvamenamabhivādaya.
8. indralokam gataḥ śrīmān tvayā putreṇa tāritaḥ
| lakṣmaṇena saha bhrātrā tvam enam abhivādaya
8. śrīmān indralokam gataḥ tvayā putreṇa tāritaḥ
tvam bhrātrā lakṣmaṇena saha enam abhivādaya
8. The glorious one has gone to the realm of Indra (Indraloka), having been liberated by you, his son. You, along with your brother Lakṣmaṇa, should pay homage to him.
महादेववचः श्रुत्वा काकुत्स्थः सहलक्ष्मणः ।
विमानशिखरस्थस्य प्रणाममकरोत् पितुः ॥९॥
9. mahādevavacaḥ śrutvā kākutsthaḥ sahalakṣmaṇaḥ ,
vimānaśikharasthasya praṇāmamakarot pituḥ.
9. mahādevavacaḥ śrutvā kākutsthaḥ sahalakṣmaṇaḥ
| vimānaśikharasthasya praṇāmam akarot pituḥ
9. kākutsthaḥ sahalakṣmaṇaḥ mahādevavacaḥ śrutvā

9. Having heard the words of the great deity, Kākutstha, accompanied by Lakṣmaṇa, offered homage to his father, who was situated at the summit of the celestial vehicle.
दीप्यमानं स्वयां लक्ष्म्या विरजोऽम्बरधारिणम् ।
लक्ष्मणेन सह भ्रात्रा ददर्श पितरं प्रभुः ॥१०॥
10. dīpyamānaṃ svayāṃ lakṣmyā virajo'mbaradhāriṇam ,
lakṣmaṇena saha bhrātrā dadarśa pitaraṃ prabhuḥ.
10. dīpyamānam svayā lakṣmyā virajaḥ ambaradhāriṇam
| lakṣmaṇena saha bhrātrā dadarśa pitaram prabhuḥ
10. prabhuḥ bhrātrā lakṣmaṇena saha svayā lakṣmyā
dīpyamānam virajaḥ ambaradhāriṇam pitaram dadarśa
10. The lord, accompanied by his brother Lakṣmaṇa, beheld his father, shining with his own splendor (lakṣmī), wearing stainless garments.
हर्षेण महताविष्टो विमानस्थो महीपतिः ।
प्राणैः प्रियतरं दृष्ट्वा पुत्रं दशरथस्तदा ॥११॥
11. harṣeṇa mahatāviṣṭo vimānastho mahīpatiḥ ,
prāṇaiḥ priyataraṃ dṛṣṭvā putraṃ daśarathastadā.
11. harṣeṇa mahatā āviṣṭaḥ vimānasthaḥ mahīpatiḥ
prāṇaiḥ priyataram dṛṣṭvā putram daśarathaḥ tadā
11. Then, King Daśaratha, the lord of the earth, who was situated in his celestial car and overcome with great joy, saw his son, who was dearer than his own life-breaths.
आरोप्याङ्कं महाबाहुर्वरासनगतः प्रभुः ।
बाहुभ्यां संपरिष्वज्य ततो वाक्यं समाददे ॥१२॥
12. āropyāṅkaṃ mahābāhurvarāsanagataḥ prabhuḥ ,
bāhubhyāṃ saṃpariṣvajya tato vākyaṃ samādade.
12. āropya aṅkam mahābāhuḥ varāsanagataḥ prabhuḥ
bāhubhyām sampariṣvajya tataḥ vākyam samādade
12. That mighty-armed lord, seated on an excellent throne, having placed [his son] on his lap and embraced [him] tightly with both arms, then uttered these words.
न मे स्वर्गो बहुमतः संमानश्च सुरर्षिभिः ।
त्वया राम विहीनस्य सत्यं प्रतिशृणोमि ते ॥१३॥
13. na me svargo bahumataḥ saṃmānaśca surarṣibhiḥ ,
tvayā rāma vihīnasya satyaṃ pratiśṛṇomi te.
13. na me svargaḥ bahumataḥ sammānaḥ ca surarṣibhiḥ
tvayā rāma vihīnasya satyam pratiśṛṇomi te
13. O Rāma, heaven is not highly esteemed by me, nor is the honor from the divine sages. I truly promise this to you, [speaking as one] deprived of you.
कैकेय्या यानि चोक्तानि वाक्यानि वदतां वर ।
तव प्रव्राजनार्थानि स्थितानि हृदये मम ॥१४॥
14. kaikeyyā yāni coktāni vākyāni vadatāṃ vara ,
tava pravrājanārthāni sthitāni hṛdaye mama.
14. kaikeyā yāni ca uktāni vākyāni vadatām vara
tava pravrājanārthāni sthitāni hṛdaye mama
14. O best among speakers, those words that were spoken by Kaikeyī, which pertained to your exile, remain [fixed] in my heart.
त्वां तु दृष्ट्वा कुशलिनं परिष्वज्य सलक्ष्मणम् ।
अद्य दुःखाद्विमुक्तो ऽस्मि नीहारादिव भास्करः ॥१५॥
15. tvāṃ tu dṛṣṭvā kuśalinaṃ pariṣvajya salakṣmaṇam ,
adya duḥkhādvimukto'smi nīhārādiva bhāskaraḥ.
15. tvām tu dṛṣṭvā kuśalinam pariṣvajya salakṣmaṇam
adya duḥkhāt vimuktaḥ asmi nīhārāt iva bhāskaraḥ
15. tvām salakṣmaṇam kuśalinam dṛṣṭvā pariṣvajya adya aham duḥkhāt vimuktaḥ asmi,
nīhārāt bhāskaraḥ iva.
15. Having seen you well and embraced you with Lakṣmaṇa, today I am freed from sorrow, just as the sun (bhāskara) is freed from mist.
तारितो ऽहं त्वया पुत्र सुपुत्रेण महात्मना ।
अष्टावक्रेण धर्मात्मा तारितो ब्राह्मणो यथा ॥१६॥
16. tārito'haṃ tvayā putra suputreṇa mahātmanā ,
aṣṭāvakreṇa dharmātmā tārito brāhmaṇo yathā.
16. tāritaḥ aham tvayā putra suputreṇa mahātmanā
aṣṭāvakreṇa dharmātmā tāritaḥ brāhmaṇaḥ yathā
16. putra,
aham tvayā suputreṇa mahātmanā tāritaḥ; yathā aṣṭāvakreṇa dharmātmā brāhmaṇaḥ tāritaḥ (iti).
16. My son, I have been saved by you, my excellent son, by a great soul (mahātman), just as the virtuous (dharmātmā) Brahmin was saved by Aṣṭāvakra.
इदानीं च विजानामि यथा सौम्य सुरेश्वरैः ।
वधार्थं रावणस्येह विहितं पुरुषोत्तमम् ॥१७॥
17. idānīṃ ca vijānāmi yathā saumya sureśvaraiḥ ,
vadhārthaṃ rāvaṇasyeha vihitaṃ puruṣottamam.
17. idānīm ca vijānāmi yathā saumya sura-īśvaraiḥ
vadha-artham rāvaṇasya iha vihitam puruṣa-uttamam
17. ca idānīm saumya,
iha rāvaṇasya vadhārtham sura-īśvaraiḥ puruṣa-uttamam vihitam yathā vijānāmi.
17. And now, O gentle one, I understand how this supreme person (puruṣottama) was ordained here by the lords of the gods (sureśvaraiḥ) for the purpose of Rāvaṇa's demise.
सिद्धार्था खलु कौसल्या या त्वां राम गृहं गतम् ।
वनान्निवृत्तं संहृष्टा द्रक्ष्यते शत्रुसूदन ॥१८॥
18. siddhārthā khalu kausalyā yā tvāṃ rāma gṛhaṃ gatam ,
vanānnivṛttaṃ saṃhṛṣṭā drakṣyate śatrusūdana.
18. siddhārthā khalu kausalyā yā tvām rāma gṛham gatam
vanāt nivṛttam saṃhṛṣṭā drakṣyate śatru-sūdana
18. khalu kausalyā siddhārthā,
yā rāma tvām śatru-sūdana vanāt nivṛttam gṛham gatam saṃhṛṣṭā drakṣyate.
18. Indeed, Kausalya will be fulfilled, who, O Rāma, will joyfully see you, the vanquisher of foes, returned home from the forest.
सिद्धार्थाः खलु ते राम नरा ये त्वां पुरीं गतम् ।
जलार्द्रमभिषिक्तं च द्रक्ष्यन्ति वसुधाधिपम् ॥१९॥
19. siddhārthāḥ khalu te rāma narā ye tvāṃ purīṃ gatam ,
jalārdramabhiṣiktaṃ ca drakṣyanti vasudhādhipam.
19. siddhārthāḥ khalu te rāma narāḥ ye tvām purīm gatam
jalārdram abhiṣiktam ca drakṣyanti vasudhādhipam
19. rāma te narāḥ ye tvām purīm gatam jalārdram abhiṣiktam ca vasudhādhipam drakṣyanti,
khalu siddhārthāḥ
19. Indeed, O Rāma, those people who will see you, having arrived in the city, sprinkled with water, and consecrated as the ruler of the earth, will surely have fulfilled their aims.
अनुरक्तेन बलिना शुचिना धर्मचारिणा ।
इच्छेयं त्वामहं द्रष्टुं भरतेन समागतम् ॥२०॥
20. anuraktena balinā śucinā dharmacāriṇā ,
iccheyaṃ tvāmahaṃ draṣṭuṃ bharatena samāgatam.
20. anurakteṇa balinā śucinā dharmacāriṇā iccheyam
tvām aham draṣṭum bharatena samāgatam
20. aham tvām anurakteṇa balinā śucinā dharmacāriṇā
bharatena samāgatam draṣṭum iccheyam
20. I wish to see you reunited with Bharata, who is devoted, mighty, pure, and observant of natural law (dharma).
चतुर्दशसमाः सौम्य वने निर्यापितास्त्वया ।
वसता सीतया सार्धं लक्ष्मणेन च धीमता ॥२१॥
21. caturdaśasamāḥ saumya vane niryāpitāstvayā ,
vasatā sītayā sārdhaṃ lakṣmaṇena ca dhīmatā.
21. caturdaśa-samāḥ saumya vane niryāpitāḥ tvayā
vasatā sītayā sārdham lakṣmaṇena ca dhīmatā
21. saumya caturdaśa-samāḥ tvayā vane sītayā
sārdham ca dhīmatā lakṣmaṇena vasatā niryāpitāḥ
21. O gentle one, fourteen years were spent by you in the forest, dwelling with Sītā and the wise Lakṣmaṇa.
निवृत्तवनवासो ऽसि प्रतिज्ञा सफला कृता ।
रावणं च रणे हत्वा देवास्ते परितोषिताः ॥२२॥
22. nivṛttavanavāso'si pratijñā saphalā kṛtā ,
rāvaṇaṃ ca raṇe hatvā devāste paritoṣitāḥ.
22. nivṛtta-vanavāsaḥ asi pratijñā saphalā kṛtā
rāvaṇam ca raṇe hatvā devāḥ te paritoṣitāḥ
22. nivṛtta-vanavāsaḥ asi; pratijñā saphalā kṛtā;
ca raṇe rāvaṇam hatvā te devāḥ paritoṣitāḥ
22. Your forest exile has concluded; the vow has been successfully fulfilled. And by killing Rāvaṇa in battle, you have pleased the gods.
कृतं कर्म यशः श्लाघ्यं प्राप्तं ते शत्रुसूदन ।
भ्रातृभिः सह राज्यस्थो दीर्घमायुरवाप्नुहि ॥२३॥
23. kṛtaṃ karma yaśaḥ ślāghyaṃ prāptaṃ te śatrusūdana ,
bhrātṛbhiḥ saha rājyastho dīrghamāyuravāpnuhi.
23. kṛtam karma yaśaḥ ślāghyam prāptam te śatrusūdana
bhrātṛbhiḥ saha rājyasthaḥ dīrgham āyuḥ avāpnuhi
23. śatrusūdana te kṛtam ślāghyam karma yaśaḥ prāptam
bhrātṛbhiḥ saha rājyasthaḥ dīrgham āyuḥ avāpnuhi
23. O destroyer of enemies, you have performed praiseworthy deeds and achieved fame. May you attain a long life, remaining in the kingdom with your brothers.
इति ब्रुवाणं राजानं रामः प्राञ्जलिरब्रवीत् ।
कुरु प्रसादं धर्मज्ञ कैकेय्या भरतस्य च ॥२४॥
24. iti bruvāṇaṃ rājānaṃ rāmaḥ prāñjalirabravīt ,
kuru prasādaṃ dharmajña kaikeyyā bharatasya ca.
24. iti bruvāṇam rājānam rāmaḥ prāñjaliḥ abravīt
kuru prasādam dharmajña kaikeyyāḥ bharatasya ca
24. iti bruvāṇam rājānam rāmaḥ prāñjaliḥ abravīt he
dharmajña kaikeyyāḥ bharatasya ca prasādam kuru
24. Rama, with folded hands, said to the king who was speaking thus: 'O knower of natural law (dharma), grant favor to Kaikeyi and Bharata.'
सपुत्रां त्वां त्यजामीति यदुक्ता कैकयी त्वया ।
स शापः कैकयीं घोरः सपुत्रां न स्पृशेत् प्रभो ॥२५॥
25. saputrāṃ tvāṃ tyajāmīti yaduktā kaikayī tvayā ,
sa śāpaḥ kaikayīṃ ghoraḥ saputrāṃ na spṛśet prabho.
25. saputrām tvām tyajāmi iti yat uktā kaikeyī tvayā
saḥ śāpaḥ kaikeyīm ghoraḥ saputrām na spṛśet prabho
25. prabho tvayā yat "saputrām tvām tyajāmi" iti uktā kaikeyī,
saḥ ghoraḥ śāpaḥ saputrām kaikeyīm na spṛśet
25. O Lord, may that terrible curse - 'I abandon you and your son' - which was uttered by you, not affect Kaikeyi along with her son.
स तथेति महाराजो राममुक्त्वा कृताञ्जलिम् ।
लक्ष्मणं च परिष्वज्य पुनर्वाक्यमुवाच ह ॥२६॥
26. sa tatheti mahārājo rāmamuktvā kṛtāñjalim ,
lakṣmaṇaṃ ca pariṣvajya punarvākyamuvāca ha.
26. saḥ tathā iti mahārājaḥ rāmam uktvā kṛtāñjalim
lakṣmaṇam ca pariṣvajya punar vākyam uvāca ha
26. saḥ mahārājaḥ kṛtāñjalim rāmam tathā iti uktvā,
lakṣmaṇam ca pariṣvajya punar vākyam uvāca ha
26. The great king, saying 'So be it' to Rama, who stood with folded hands, and having embraced Lakshmana, then spoke again.
रामं शुश्रूषता भक्त्या वैदेह्या सह सीतया ।
कृता मम महाप्रीतिः प्राप्तं धर्मफलं च ते ॥२७॥
27. rāmaṃ śuśrūṣatā bhaktyā vaidehyā saha sītayā ,
kṛtā mama mahāprītiḥ prāptaṃ dharmaphalaṃ ca te.
27. rāmam śuśrūṣatā bhaktyā vaidehyā saha sītayā
kṛtā mama mahāprītiḥ prāptam dharmaphalam ca te
27. bhaktyā vaidehyā saha sītayā rāmam śuśrūṣatā
mama mahāprītiḥ kṛtā ca te dharmaphalam prāptam
27. By your devoted service (bhakti) to Rāma, along with Sītā, the daughter of Videha, great pleasure has been caused to me, and you have attained the fruit of your intrinsic nature (dharma).
धर्मं प्राप्स्यसि धर्मज्ञ यशश्च विपुलं भुवि ।
रामे प्रसन्ने स्वर्गं च महिमानं तथैव च ॥२८॥
28. dharmaṃ prāpsyasi dharmajña yaśaśca vipulaṃ bhuvi ,
rāme prasanne svargaṃ ca mahimānaṃ tathaiva ca.
28. dharmam prāpsyasi dharmajña yaśaḥ ca vipulam bhuvi
rāme prasanne svargam ca mahimānam tathā eva ca
28. dharmajña dharmam prāpsyasi ca bhuvi vipulam yaśaḥ
rāme prasanne ca svargam ca mahimānam tathā eva ca
28. O knower of intrinsic nature (dharma), you will attain righteousness (dharma) and widespread fame on earth. When Rāma is pleased, you will also attain heaven and glory.
रामं शुश्रूष भद्रं ते सुमित्रानन्दवर्धन ।
रामः सर्वस्य लोकस्य शुभेष्वभिरतः सदा ॥२९॥
29. rāmaṃ śuśrūṣa bhadraṃ te sumitrānandavardhana ,
rāmaḥ sarvasya lokasya śubheṣvabhirataḥ sadā.
29. rāmam śuśrūṣa bhadram te sumitrānandavardhana
rāmaḥ sarvasya lokasya śubheṣu abhirataḥ sadā
29. sumitrānandavardhana rāmam śuśrūṣa te bhadram
rāmaḥ sadā sarvasya lokasya śubheṣu abhirataḥ
29. O increaser of Sumitrā's joy, serve Rāma; may prosperity be yours. Rāma is always devoted to the welfare of all beings.
एते सेन्द्रास्त्रयो लोकाः सिद्धाश्च परमर्षयः ।
अभिगम्य महात्मानमर्चन्ति पुरुषोत्तमम् ॥३०॥
30. ete sendrāstrayo lokāḥ siddhāśca paramarṣayaḥ ,
abhigamya mahātmānamarcanti puruṣottamam.
30. ete sa indrāḥ trayaḥ lokāḥ siddhāḥ ca parama ṛṣayaḥ
abhigamya mahā ātmanam arcanti puruṣa uttamam
30. sa indrāḥ ete trayaḥ lokāḥ ca siddhāḥ ca parama
ṛṣayaḥ mahā ātmanam puruṣa uttamam abhigamya arcanti
30. These three worlds with Indra, along with the Siddhas and the great sages, approach the great-souled one (mahātman) and worship the supreme cosmic person (puruṣottama).
एतत्तदुक्तमव्यक्तमक्षरं ब्रह्मनिर्मितम् ।
देवानां हृदयं सौम्य गुह्यं रामः परंतपः ॥३१॥
31. etattaduktamavyaktamakṣaraṃ brahmanirmitam ,
devānāṃ hṛdayaṃ saumya guhyaṃ rāmaḥ paraṃtapaḥ.
31. etat tat uktam avyaktam akṣaram brahma-nirmitam
devānām hṛdayam saumya guhyam rāmaḥ paraṃtapaḥ
31. saumya,
etat tat avyaktam akṣaram brahma-nirmitam devānām guhyam hṛdayam uktam.

31. O gentle one, this unmanifest, imperishable reality, brought forth by the supreme (brahman), has been declared to be the secret heart of the gods. That reality is Rāma, the tormentor of enemies.
अवाप्तं धर्मचरणं यशश्च विपुलं त्वया ।
रामं शुश्रूषता भक्त्या वैदेह्या सह सीतया ॥३२॥
32. avāptaṃ dharmacaraṇaṃ yaśaśca vipulaṃ tvayā ,
rāmaṃ śuśrūṣatā bhaktyā vaidehyā saha sītayā.
32. avāptam dharma-caraṇam yaśaḥ ca vipulam tvayā
rāmam śuśrūṣatā bhaktyā vaidehyā saha sītayā
32. rāmam bhaktyā vaidehyā saha sītayā śuśrūṣatā tvayā vipulam dharma-caraṇam ca yaśaḥ avāptam.
32. Extensive righteous conduct (dharma) and great fame have been attained by you, who served Rāma with devotion (bhakti), along with Sītā, the princess of Videha.
स तथोक्त्वा महाबाहुर्लक्ष्मणं प्राञ्जलिं स्थितम् ।
उवाच राजा धर्मात्मा वैदेहीं वचनं शुभम् ॥३३॥
33. sa tathoktvā mahābāhurlakṣmaṇaṃ prāñjaliṃ sthitam ,
uvāca rājā dharmātmā vaidehīṃ vacanaṃ śubham.
33. saḥ tathā uktvā mahā-bāhuḥ lakṣmaṇam prāñjalim
sthitam uvāca rājā dharmātmā vaidehīm vacanam śubham
33. tathā prāñjalim sthitam lakṣmaṇam uktvā,
saḥ mahā-bāhuḥ dharmātmā rājā,
vaidehīm śubham vacanam uvāca.
33. Having thus spoken to Lakṣmaṇa, who stood with folded hands, the mighty-armed king, whose being embodied (dharma) (dharmātman), then spoke auspicious words to Vaidehī (Sītā).
कर्तव्यो न तु वैदेहि मन्युस्त्यागमिमं प्रति ।
रामेण त्वद्विशुद्ध्यर्थं कृतमेतद्धितैषिणा ॥३४॥
34. kartavyo na tu vaidehi manyustyāgamimaṃ prati ,
rāmeṇa tvadviśuddhyarthaṃ kṛtametaddhitaiṣiṇā.
34. kartavyaḥ na tu vaidehi manyuḥ tyāgam imam prati
rāmeṇa tvat-viśuddhi-artham kṛtam etat hitaiṣiṇā
34. vaidehi,
imam tyāgam prati manyuḥ na tu kartavyaḥ.
etat tvat-viśuddhi-artham hitaiṣiṇā rāmeṇa kṛtam.
34. But O Vaidehī, anger should not be felt regarding this abandonment. This was done by Rāma, your well-wisher, for the sake of your purification.
न त्वं सुभ्रु समाधेया पतिशुश्रूवणं प्रति ।
अवश्यं तु मया वाच्यमेष ते दैवतं परम् ॥३५॥
35. na tvaṃ subhru samādheyā patiśuśrūvaṇaṃ prati ,
avaśyaṃ tu mayā vācyameṣa te daivataṃ param.
35. na tvam subhru samādheyā patiśuśrūvaṇam prati
avaśyam tu mayā vācyam eṣa te daivatam param
35. O beautiful-browed one, you do not need to be reminded about serving your husband. However, I must certainly tell you this: he is your supreme deity.
इति प्रतिसमादिश्य पुत्रौ सीतां तथा स्नुषाम् ।
इन्द्रलोकं विमानेन ययौ दशरथो ज्वलन् ॥३६॥
36. iti pratisamādiśya putrau sītāṃ tathā snuṣām ,
indralokaṃ vimānena yayau daśaratho jvalan.

36. Thus, having instructed his two sons, Sita, and his other daughter-in-law, Dasharatha, shining brightly, ascended to the world of Indra (indraloka) in a celestial chariot.
