सीता तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा पूर्णचन्द्रनिभानना ।
हनूमन्तमुवाचेदं धर्मार्थसहितं वचः ॥१॥
1. sītā tadvacanaṃ śrutvā pūrṇacandranibhānanā ,
hanūmantamuvācedaṃ dharmārthasahitaṃ vacaḥ.

1. Having heard those words, Sītā, whose face resembled the full moon, spoke these words to Hanumān, words that were imbued with righteousness (dharma) and clear purpose.
अमृतं विषसंसृष्टं त्वया वानरभाषितम् ।
यच्च नान्यमना रामो यच्च शोकपरायणः ॥२॥
2. amṛtaṃ viṣasaṃsṛṣṭaṃ tvayā vānarabhāṣitam ,
yacca nānyamanā rāmo yacca śokaparāyaṇaḥ.
2. amṛtam viṣasaṃsṛṣṭam tvayā vānarabhāṣitam
yat ca na anyamanā rāmaḥ yat ca śokaparāyaṇaḥ

2. O monkey, your words are like nectar mixed with poison: on the one hand, Rāma's mind is not fixed on anyone else, and on the other, he is consumed by grief.
ऐश्वर्ये वा सुविस्तीर्णे व्यसने वा सुदारुणे ।
रज्ज्वेव पुरुषं बद्ध्वा कृतान्तः परिकर्षति ॥३॥
3. aiśvarye vā suvistīrṇe vyasane vā sudāruṇe ,
rajjveva puruṣaṃ baddhvā kṛtāntaḥ parikarṣati.

rajjvā iva puruṣam baddhvā kṛtāntaḥ parikarṣati

3. Whether in extensive prosperity or in dire calamity, fate drags a person along as if bound by a rope.
विधिर्नूनमसंहार्यः प्राणिनां प्लवगोत्तम ।
सौमित्रिं मां च रामं च व्यसनैः पश्य मोहितान् ॥४॥
4. vidhirnūnamasaṃhāryaḥ prāṇināṃ plavagottama ,
saumitriṃ māṃ ca rāmaṃ ca vyasanaiḥ paśya mohitān.
4. vidhiḥ nūnam asaṃhāryaḥ prāṇinām plavaga-uttama
saumitrim mām ca rāmam ca vyasanaiḥ paśya mohitān
4. O best of monkeys, behold me, along with Saumitri (Lakshmana) and Rama, bewildered by these calamities. Surely, the cosmic order (vidhi) is irresistible for living beings.
शोकस्यास्य कदा पारं राघवो ऽधिगमिष्यति ।
प्लवमानः परिश्रान्तो हतनौः सागरे यथा ॥५॥
5. śokasyāsya kadā pāraṃ rāghavo'dhigamiṣyati ,
plavamānaḥ pariśrānto hatanauḥ sāgare yathā.
5. śokasya asya kadā pāram rāghavaḥ adhigamiṣyati
plavamānaḥ pariśrāntaḥ hatanauḥ sāgare yathā
5. When will Rama reach the end of this grief (śoka)? It is like an exhausted person whose boat is broken, floating in the ocean.
राक्षसानां क्षयं कृत्वा सूदयित्वा च रावणम् ।
लङ्कामुन्मूलितां कृत्वा कदा द्रक्ष्यति मां पतिः ॥६॥
6. rākṣasānāṃ kṣayaṃ kṛtvā sūdayitvā ca rāvaṇam ,
laṅkāmunmūlitāṃ kṛtvā kadā drakṣyati māṃ patiḥ.
6. rākṣasānām kṣayam kṛtvā sūdayitvā ca rāvaṇam
laṅkām unmūlitām kṛtvā kadā drakṣyati mām patiḥ
6. Having brought about the destruction of the rākṣasas, having slain Ravana, and having completely uprooted Laṅkā, when will my husband see me?
स वाच्यः संत्वरस्वेति यावदेव न पूर्यते ।
अयं संवत्सरः कालस्तावद्धि मम जीवितम् ॥७॥
7. sa vācyaḥ saṃtvarasveti yāvadeva na pūryate ,
ayaṃ saṃvatsaraḥ kālastāvaddhi mama jīvitam.
7. saḥ vācyaḥ saṃtvarasva iti yāvat eva na pūryate
ayam saṃvatsaraḥ kālaḥ tāvat hi mama jīvitam
7. He (Rama) should be told, 'Make haste!', because my life lasts only as long as this one year is not completed.
वर्तते दशमो मासो द्वौ तु शेषौ प्लवंगम ।
रावणेन नृशंसेन समयो यः कृतो मम ॥८॥
8. vartate daśamo māso dvau tu śeṣau plavaṃgama ,
rāvaṇena nṛśaṃsena samayo yaḥ kṛto mama.
8. vartate daśamaḥ māsaḥ dvau tu śeṣau plavaṅgama
rāvaṇena nṛśaṃsena samayaḥ yaḥ kṛtaḥ mama

8. O monkey, the tenth month is passing; only two months are left from the agreement that was made with me by the cruel Rāvaṇa.
विभीषणेन च भ्रात्रा मम निर्यातनं प्रति ।
अनुनीतः प्रयत्नेन न च तत् कुरुते मतिम् ॥९॥
9. vibhīṣaṇena ca bhrātrā mama niryātanaṃ prati ,
anunītaḥ prayatnena na ca tat kurute matim.

anunītaḥ prayatnena na ca tat kurute matim
9. ca mama bhrātrā vibhīṣaṇena niryātanam prati

9. And though his brother Vibhīṣaṇa diligently implored him concerning my release, he does not fix his mind on that matter.
मम प्रतिप्रदानं हि रावणस्य न रोचते ।
रावणं मार्गते संख्ये मृत्युः कालवशं गतम् ॥१०॥
10. mama pratipradānaṃ hi rāvaṇasya na rocate ,
rāvaṇaṃ mārgate saṃkhye mṛtyuḥ kālavaśaṃ gatam.

10. Indeed, my return is not pleasing to Rāvaṇa. Death seeks Rāvaṇa in battle, as he has fallen under the sway of time.
ज्येष्ठा कन्यानला नम विभीषणसुता कपे ।
तया ममैतदाख्यातं मात्रा प्रहितया स्वयम् ॥११॥
11. jyeṣṭhā kanyānalā nama vibhīṣaṇasutā kape ,
tayā mamaitadākhyātaṃ mātrā prahitayā svayam.
11. jyeṣṭhā kanyā analā nāma vibhīṣaṇasutā kape
tayā mama etat ākhyātam mātrā prahitayā svayam
11. kape vibhīṣaṇasutā jyeṣṭhā kanyā analā nāma

11. O monkey, this was told to me by Analā by name, the eldest daughter of Vibhīṣaṇa, who was herself sent by her mother.
अविन्ध्यो नाम मेधावी विद्वान् राक्षसपुंगवः ।
धृतिमाञ् शीलवान् वृद्धो रावणस्य सुसंमतः ॥१२॥
12. avindhyo nāma medhāvī vidvān rākṣasapuṃgavaḥ ,
dhṛtimāñ śīlavān vṛddho rāvaṇasya susaṃmataḥ.
12. avindhyaḥ nāma medhāvī vidvān rākṣasapuṅgavaḥ
dhṛtimān śīlavān vṛddhaḥ rāvaṇasya susaṃmataḥ
12. avindhyaḥ nāma medhāvī vidvān rākṣasapuṅgavaḥ
dhṛtimān śīlavān vṛddhaḥ rāvaṇasya susaṃmataḥ
12. There was a wise and learned chieftain among the rākṣasas named Avindhya, who was endowed with fortitude, good character, and advanced in years, and was highly esteemed by Rāvaṇa.
रामात् क्षयमनुप्राप्तं रक्षसां प्रत्यचोदयत् ।
न च तस्यापि दुष्टात्मा शृणोति वचनं हितम् ॥१३॥
13. rāmāt kṣayamanuprāptaṃ rakṣasāṃ pratyacodayat ,
na ca tasyāpi duṣṭātmā śṛṇoti vacanaṃ hitam.
13. rāmāt kṣayam anuprāptam rakṣasām pratyacodayat
na ca tasya api duṣṭātmā śṛṇoti vacanam hitam
13. rāmāt anuprāptam rakṣasām kṣayam pratyacodayat
ca duṣṭātmā tasya hitam vacanam api na śṛṇoti
13. He (Avindhya) advised Rāvaṇa concerning the destruction being brought upon the rākṣasas by Rāma. However, that evil-minded one did not even listen to his beneficial advice.
आशंसेति हरिश्रेष्ठ क्षिप्रं मां प्राप्स्यते पतिः ।
अन्तरात्मा हि मे शुद्धस्तस्मिंश्च बहवो गुणाः ॥१४॥
14. āśaṃseti hariśreṣṭha kṣipraṃ māṃ prāpsyate patiḥ ,
antarātmā hi me śuddhastasmiṃśca bahavo guṇāḥ.
14. āśaṃse iti hariśreṣṭha kṣipram mām prāpsyate patiḥ
antarātmā hi me śuddhaḥ tasmin ca bahavaḥ guṇāḥ
14. hariśreṣṭha iti āśaṃse patiḥ kṣipram mām prāpsyate
hi me antarātmā śuddhaḥ ca tasmin bahavaḥ guṇāḥ
14. “O best of monkeys, I am confident that my husband will soon reach me. Indeed, my inner self (antarātmā) is pure, and he possesses many virtues.”
उत्साहः पौरुषं सत्त्वमानृशंस्यं कृतज्ञता ।
विक्रमश्च प्रभावश्च सन्ति वानरराघवे ॥१५॥
15. utsāhaḥ pauruṣaṃ sattvamānṛśaṃsyaṃ kṛtajñatā ,
vikramaśca prabhāvaśca santi vānararāghave.
15. utsāhaḥ pauruṣam sattvam ānṛśaṃsyam kṛtajñatā
vikramaḥ ca prabhāvaḥ ca santi vānararāghave
15. utsāhaḥ pauruṣam sattvam ānṛśaṃsyam kṛtajñatā
ca vikramaḥ ca prabhāvaḥ vānararāghave santi
15. Enthusiasm, manliness, inner strength, compassion, and gratitude, along with valor and power - these qualities all exist in Rāma, the descendant of Raghu.
चतुर्दशसहस्राणि राक्षसानां जघान यः ।
जनस्थाने विना भ्रात्रा शत्रुः कस्तस्य नोद्विजेत् ॥१६॥
16. caturdaśasahasrāṇi rākṣasānāṃ jaghāna yaḥ ,
janasthāne vinā bhrātrā śatruḥ kastasya nodvijet.
16. caturdaśa-sahasrāṇi rākṣasānām jaghāna yaḥ
janasthāne vinā bhrātrā śatruḥ kaḥ tasya na udvijet
16. yaḥ janasthāne bhrātrā vinā caturdaśa-sahasrāṇi rākṣasānām jaghāna,
tasya kaḥ śatruḥ na udvijet?
16. Which enemy would not be terrified by him, who single-handedly killed fourteen thousand Rākṣasas in Janasthāna even without his brother?
न स शक्यस्तुलयितुं व्यसनैः पुरुषर्षभः ।
अहं तस्यानुभावज्ञा शक्रस्येव पुलोमजा ॥१७॥
17. na sa śakyastulayituṃ vyasanaiḥ puruṣarṣabhaḥ ,
ahaṃ tasyānubhāvajñā śakrasyeva pulomajā.
17. na saḥ śakyaḥ tulayitum vyasanaiḥ puruṣarṣabhaḥ
aham tasya anubhāvajñā śakrasya iva pulomajā
17. saḥ puruṣarṣabhaḥ vyasanaiḥ tulayitum na śakyaḥ.
aham pulomajā iva śakrasya tasya anubhāvajñā.
17. That best among men (puruṣa) cannot be overcome by misfortunes. I am aware of his great power, just as Pulomajā (Śacī) knows the strength of Indra.
शरजालांशुमाञ् शूरः कपे रामदिवाकरः ।
शत्रुरक्षोमयं तोयमुपशोषं नयिष्यति ॥१८॥
18. śarajālāṃśumāñ śūraḥ kape rāmadivākaraḥ ,
śatrurakṣomayaṃ toyamupaśoṣaṃ nayiṣyati.
18. śarajāla-aṃśumān śūraḥ kape rāmadivākaraḥ
śatru-rakṣomayam toyam upaśoṣam nayiṣyati
18. kapi,
śarajāla-aṃśumān śūraḥ rāmadivākaraḥ,
śatru-rakṣomayam toyam upaśoṣam nayiṣyati.
18. O monkey (kapi), the valiant Rāma, like the sun with his network of arrows for rays, will dry up the water-like host of enemy Rākṣasas.
इति संजल्पमानां तां रामार्थे शोककर्शिताम् ।
अश्रुसंपूर्णवदनामुवाच हनुमान् कपिः ॥१९॥
19. iti saṃjalpamānāṃ tāṃ rāmārthe śokakarśitām ,
aśrusaṃpūrṇavadanāmuvāca hanumān kapiḥ.
19. iti saṃjalpamānām tām rāmārthe śokakarśitām
aśrusampūrṇavadanām uvāca hanumān kapiḥ
19. kapiḥ hanumān iti rāmārthe śokakarśitām aśrusampūrṇavadanām saṃjalpamānām tām uvāca.
19. Hanumān, the monkey (kapi), then spoke to her, who was lamenting thus, emaciated by sorrow for Rāma's sake, and whose face was filled with tears.
श्रुत्वैव तु वचो मह्यं क्षिप्रमेष्यति राघवः ।
चमूं प्रकर्षन्महतीं हर्यृक्षगणसंकुलाम् ॥२०॥
20. śrutvaiva tu vaco mahyaṃ kṣiprameṣyati rāghavaḥ ,
camūṃ prakarṣanmahatīṃ haryṛkṣagaṇasaṃkulām.
20. śrutvā eva tu vacaḥ mahyam kṣipram eṣyati rāghavaḥ
camūm prakarṣan mahatīm haryṛkṣagaṇasaṅkulām
20. tu mahyam vacaḥ śrutvā eva rāghavaḥ kṣipram
haryṛkṣagaṇasaṅkulām mahatīm camūm prakarṣan eṣyati
20. And upon hearing my words, Raghava will quickly come, leading a vast army crowded with throngs of monkeys and bears.
अथ वा मोचयिष्यामि तामद्यैव हि राक्षसात् ।
अस्माद्दुःखादुपारोह मम पृष्ठमनिन्दिते ॥२१॥
21. atha vā mocayiṣyāmi tāmadyaiva hi rākṣasāt ,
asmādduḥkhādupāroha mama pṛṣṭhamanindite.
21. atha vā mocayiṣyāmi tām adya eva hi rākṣasāt
asmāt duḥkhāt upāroha mama pṛṣṭham anindite
21. atha vā hi adya eva tām rākṣasāt mocayiṣyāmi
anindite asmāt duḥkhāt mama pṛṣṭham upāroha
21. Alternatively, I will surely free her from the demon (rākṣasa) today itself. O blameless one, ascend my back to escape this distress.
त्वं हि पृष्ठगतां कृत्वा संतरिष्यामि सागरम् ।
शक्तिरस्ति हि मे वोढुं लङ्कामपि सरावणाम् ॥२२॥
22. tvaṃ hi pṛṣṭhagatāṃ kṛtvā saṃtariṣyāmi sāgaram ,
śaktirasti hi me voḍhuṃ laṅkāmapi sarāvaṇām.
22. tvam hi pṛṣṭhagatām kṛtvā saṃtariṣyāmi sāgaram
śaktiḥ asti hi me voḍhum laṅkām api sarāvaṇām
22. hi tvam pṛṣṭhagatām kṛtvā sāgaram saṃtariṣyāmi
hi me sarāvaṇām laṅkām api voḍhum śaktiḥ asti
22. Indeed, by taking you upon my back, I will cross the ocean. For I possess the strength to carry even Laṅkā along with Rāvaṇa.
अहं प्रस्रवणस्थाय राघवायाद्य मैथिलि ।
प्रापयिष्यामि शक्राय हव्यं हुतमिवानलः ॥२३॥
23. ahaṃ prasravaṇasthāya rāghavāyādya maithili ,
prāpayiṣyāmi śakrāya havyaṃ hutamivānalaḥ.
23. aham prasravaṇasthāya rāghavāya adya maithili
prāpayiṣyāmi śakrāya havyam hutam iva analaḥ
23. maithili aham adya prasravaṇasthāya rāghavāya
śakrāya hutam havyam analaḥ iva prāpayiṣyāmi
23. O Maithili, today I will deliver you to Raghava, who is residing on Prasravana mountain, just as fire delivers an oblation to Indra.
द्रक्ष्यस्यद्यैव वैदेहि राघवं सहलक्ष्मणम् ।
व्यवसाय समायुक्तं विष्णुं दैत्यवधे यथा ॥२४॥
24. drakṣyasyadyaiva vaidehi rāghavaṃ sahalakṣmaṇam ,
vyavasāya samāyuktaṃ viṣṇuṃ daityavadhe yathā.
24. drakṣyasi adya eva vaidehi rāghavam saha-lakṣmaṇam
vyavasāya samāyuktam viṣṇum daitya-vadhe yathā
24. vaidehi adya eva rāghavam saha-lakṣmaṇam
vyavasāya-samāyuktam daitya-vadhe viṣṇum yathā drakṣyasi
24. O Vaidehi, today itself you will see Rāma along with Lakṣmaṇa, endowed with resolve, just as Viṣṇu is [resplute] in the slaying of demons.
त्वद्दर्शनकृतोत्साहमाश्रमस्थं महाबलम् ।
पुरंदरमिवासीनं नागराजस्य मूर्धनि ॥२५॥
25. tvaddarśanakṛtotsāhamāśramasthaṃ mahābalam ,
puraṃdaramivāsīnaṃ nāgarājasya mūrdhani.
25. tvat-darśana-kṛta-utsāham āśrama-stham mahā-balam
purandaram iva āsīnam nāga-rājasya mūrdhani
25. tvat-darśana-kṛta-utsāham āśrama-stham mahā-balam
nāga-rājasya mūrdhani purandaram iva āsīnam
25. You will see him whose enthusiasm is awakened by your sight, who resides in the hermitage, possessing immense strength, seated like Purandara (Indra) on the head of the king of serpents.
पृष्ठमारोह मे देवि मा विकाङ्क्षस्व शोभने ।
योगमन्विच्छ रामेण शशाङ्केनेव रोहिणी ॥२६॥
26. pṛṣṭhamāroha me devi mā vikāṅkṣasva śobhane ,
yogamanviccha rāmeṇa śaśāṅkeneva rohiṇī.
26. pṛṣṭham āroha me devi mā vikāṅkṣasva śobhane
yogam anviccha rāmeṇa śaśāṅkena iva rohiṇī
26. devi śobhane me pṛṣṭham āroha mā vikāṅkṣasva
rohiṇī śaśāṅkena iva rāmeṇa yogam anviccha
26. O goddess, O beautiful one, ascend my back; do not hesitate. Seek union (yoga) with Rāma, just as Rohiṇī [is united] with the moon.
कथयन्तीव चन्द्रेण सूर्येणेव सुवर्चला ।
मत्पृष्ठमधिरुह्य त्वं तराकाशमहार्णवम् ॥२७॥
27. kathayantīva candreṇa sūryeṇeva suvarcalā ,
matpṛṣṭhamadhiruhya tvaṃ tarākāśamahārṇavam.
27. kathayantī iva candreṇa sūryeṇa iva suvarcalā
mat-pṛṣṭham adhiruhya tvam tara ākāśa-mahā-arṇavam
27. candreṇa iva kathayantī sūryeṇa iva suvarcalā tvam
mat-pṛṣṭham adhiruhya ākāśa-mahā-arṇavam tara
27. You, shining brightly as if with the moon, and like Suvarcalā with the sun; having ascended my back, you will cross the great ocean of the sky.
न हि मे संप्रयातस्य त्वामितो नयतो ऽङ्गने ।
अनुगन्तुं गतिं शक्ताः सर्वे लङ्कानिवासिनः ॥२८॥
28. na hi me saṃprayātasya tvāmito nayato'ṅgane ,
anugantuṃ gatiṃ śaktāḥ sarve laṅkānivāsinaḥ.
28. na hi me saṃprayātasya tvām itaḥ nayataḥ aṅgane
anu gantum gatim śaktāḥ sarve laṅkā-nivāsinaḥ
28. aṅgane hi me itaḥ tvām nayataḥ saṃprayātasya
gatim anu gantum sarve laṅkā-nivāsinaḥ na śaktāḥ
28. O lady, indeed, none of the inhabitants of Laṅkā would be able to follow my path when I depart from here taking you away.
यथैवाहमिह प्राप्तस्तथैवाहमसंशयम् ।
यास्यामि पश्य वैदेहि त्वामुद्यम्य विहायसं ॥२९॥
29. yathaivāhamiha prāptastathaivāhamasaṃśayam ,
yāsyāmi paśya vaidehi tvāmudyamya vihāyasaṃ.
29. yathā eva aham iha prāptaḥ tathā eva aham asaṃśayam
yāsyāmi paśya vaidehi tvām udyamya vihāyasam
29. vaidehi paśya aham yathā iha prāptaḥ eva tathā
aham asaṃśayam tvām udyamya vihāyasam yāsyāmi
29. O Vaidehī, just as I arrived here, so too, I will certainly depart, carrying you through the sky. See for yourself!
मैथिली तु हरिश्रेष्ठाच्छ्रुत्वा वचनमद्भुतम् ।
हर्षविस्मितसर्वाङ्गी हनूमन्तमथाब्रवीत् ॥३०॥
30. maithilī tu hariśreṣṭhācchrutvā vacanamadbhutam ,
harṣavismitasarvāṅgī hanūmantamathābravīt.
30. maithilī tu hari-śreṣṭhāt śrutvā vacanam adbhutam
harṣa-vismita-sarvāṅgī hanūmantam atha abravīt
30. atha maithilī tu hari-śreṣṭhāt adbhutam vacanam
śrutvā harṣa-vismita-sarvāṅgī hanūmantam abravīt
30. Then Maithilī, her entire body filled with joy and wonder after hearing the amazing words from the best of monkeys, spoke to Hanūmān.
हनूमन्दूरमध्वनं कथं मां वोढुमिच्छसि ।
तदेव खलु ते मन्ये कपित्वं हरियूथप ॥३१॥
31. hanūmandūramadhvanaṃ kathaṃ māṃ voḍhumicchasi ,
tadeva khalu te manye kapitvaṃ hariyūthapa.
31. hanūman dūram adhvanam kathaṃ māṃ voḍhum icchasi
tat eva khalu te manye kapitvam hari-yūthapa
31. hanūman kathaṃ māṃ dūram adhvanam voḍhum icchasi
hari-yūthapa khalu te tat eva kapitvam manye
31. O Hanūmān, how do you intend to carry me such a long distance? O chief of monkeys, I truly believe that this very notion reflects your monkey-nature (kapitva).
कथं वाल्पशरीरस्त्वं मामितो नेतुमिच्छसि ।
सकाशं मानवेन्द्रस्य भर्तुर्मे प्लवगर्षभ ॥३२॥
32. kathaṃ vālpaśarīrastvaṃ māmito netumicchasi ,
sakāśaṃ mānavendrasya bharturme plavagarṣabha.
32. katham vā alpaśarīraḥ tvam mām itaḥ netum icchasi
sakāśam mānavendrasya bhartuḥ me plavagarṣabha
32. plavagarṣabha alpaśarīraḥ tvam katham vā itaḥ me
bhartuḥ mānavendrasya sakāśam mām netum icchasi
32. O best of monkeys, how do you, with such a small body, intend to take me from here to the presence of my husband, the lord of men?
सीताया वचनं श्रुत्वा हनूमान्मारुतात्मजः ।
चिन्तयामास लक्ष्मीवान्नवं परिभवं कृतम् ॥३३॥
33. sītāyā vacanaṃ śrutvā hanūmānmārutātmajaḥ ,
cintayāmāsa lakṣmīvānnavaṃ paribhavaṃ kṛtam.
33. Sītāyāḥ vacanam śrutvā Hanūmān Mārutātmajaḥ
cintayāmāsa lakṣmīvān navam paribhavam kṛtam
33. Sītāyāḥ vacanam śrutvā lakṣmīvān Mārutātmajaḥ
Hanūmān navam kṛtam paribhavam cintayāmāsa
33. Having heard Sītā's words, the glorious Hanūman, son of the wind god (Māruta), pondered the fresh insult that had been dealt.
न मे जानाति सत्त्वं वा प्रभावं वासितेक्षणा ।
तस्मात् पश्यतु वैदेही यद् रूपं मम कामतः ॥३४॥
34. na me jānāti sattvaṃ vā prabhāvaṃ vāsitekṣaṇā ,
tasmāt paśyatu vaidehī yad rūpaṃ mama kāmataḥ.
34. na me jānāti sattvam vā prabhāvam vā asitekṣaṇā
tasmāt paśyatu Vaidehī yat rūpam mama kāmataḥ
34. asitekṣaṇā me sattvam vā prabhāvam vā na jānāti
tasmāt Vaidehī mama kāmataḥ yat rūpam paśyatu
34. This dark-eyed one (Sītā) does not know my strength or my power. Therefore, let Vaidehī witness the form I can assume by my will.
इति संचिन्त्य हनुमांस्तदा प्लवगसत्तमः ।
दर्शयामास वैदेह्याः स्वरूपमरिमर्दनः ॥३५॥
35. iti saṃcintya hanumāṃstadā plavagasattamaḥ ,
darśayāmāsa vaidehyāḥ svarūpamarimardanaḥ.
35. iti saṃcintya Hanūmān tadā plavagasattamaḥ
darśayāmāsa Vaidehyāḥ svarūpam arimardanaḥ
35. iti saṃcintya tadā plavagasattamaḥ arimardanaḥ
Hanūmān Vaidehyāḥ svarūpam darśayāmāsa
35. Having thus deeply reflected, Hanūman, the best of monkeys and destroyer of foes, then revealed his true form to Vaidehī (Sītā).
स तस्मात् पादपाद्धीमानाप्लुत्य प्लवगर्षभः ।
ततो वर्धितुमारेभे सीताप्रत्ययकारणात् ॥३६॥
36. sa tasmāt pādapāddhīmānāplutya plavagarṣabhaḥ ,
tato vardhitumārebhe sītāpratyayakāraṇāt.
36. saḥ tasmāt pādapāt dhīmān āplutya plavagarṣabhaḥ
| tataḥ vardhitum ārebhe sītāpratyayakāraṇāt
36. saḥ dhīmān plavagarṣabhaḥ tasmāt pādapāt āplutya
tataḥ sītāpratyayakāraṇāt vardhitum ārebhe
36. That intelligent best of monkeys (Hanuman), having jumped down from that tree, then began to grow in order to inspire confidence in Sītā.
मेरुमन्दारसंकाशो बभौ दीप्तानलप्रभः ।
अग्रतो व्यवतस्थे च सीताया वानरर्षभः ॥३७॥
37. merumandārasaṃkāśo babhau dīptānalaprabhaḥ ,
agrato vyavatasthe ca sītāyā vānararṣabhaḥ.

37. The best of monkeys (Hanuman), resembling Mount Meru and Mandara, shone with the brilliance of a blazing fire, and stood before Sītā.
हरिः पर्वतसंकाशस्ताम्रवक्त्रो महाबलः ।
वज्रदंष्ट्रनखो भीमो वैदेहीमिदमब्रवीत् ॥३८॥
38. hariḥ parvatasaṃkāśastāmravaktro mahābalaḥ ,
vajradaṃṣṭranakho bhīmo vaidehīmidamabravīt.
38. hariḥ parvatasaṃkāśaḥ tāmravaktraḥ mahābalaḥ |
vajradaṃṣṭranakhaḥ bhīmaḥ vaidehīm idam abravīt
38. parvatasaṃkāśaḥ tāmravaktraḥ mahābalaḥ
vajradaṃṣṭranakhaḥ bhīmaḥ hariḥ vaidehīm idam abravīt
38. The monkey (Hanuman), who resembled a mountain, had a coppery face, was exceedingly powerful, possessed adamantine teeth and claws, and was terrifying, spoke this to Vaidehī (Sītā).
सपर्वतवनोद्देशां साट्टप्राकारतोरणाम् ।
लङ्कामिमां सनथां वा नयितुं शक्तिरस्ति मे ॥३९॥
39. saparvatavanoddeśāṃ sāṭṭaprākāratoraṇām ,
laṅkāmimāṃ sanathāṃ vā nayituṃ śaktirasti me.
39. saparvatavanoddeśām sāṭṭaprākāratoraṇām |
laṅkām imām sanāthām vā nayitum śaktiḥ asti me
39. saparvatavanoddeśām sāṭṭaprākāratoraṇām imām
sanāthām vā laṅkām nayitum me śaktiḥ asti
39. I have the power to carry away this Lankā, including its mountains and forest regions, its watchtowers, ramparts, and gateways, and even its master (Rāvaṇa).
तदवस्थाप्य तां बुद्धिरलं देवि विकाङ्क्षया ।
विशोकं कुरु वैदेहि राघवं सहलक्ष्मणम् ॥४०॥
40. tadavasthāpya tāṃ buddhiralaṃ devi vikāṅkṣayā ,
viśokaṃ kuru vaidehi rāghavaṃ sahalakṣmaṇam.
40. tat avasthāpya tām buddhiḥ alam devi vikāṅkṣayā
viśokam kuru vaidehi rāghavam saha-lakṣmaṇam
40. Devi, having thus fixed that resolve, cast aside this longing. Vaidehi, make Rāghava, along with Lakṣmaṇa, free from grief.
तं दृष्ट्वाचलसंकाशमुवाच जनकात्मजा ।
पद्मपत्रविशालाक्षी मारुतस्यौरसं सुतम् ॥४१॥
41. taṃ dṛṣṭvācalasaṃkāśamuvāca janakātmajā ,
padmapatraviśālākṣī mārutasyaurasaṃ sutam.
41. tam dṛṣṭvā acala-saṃkāśam uvāca janaka-ātmajā
padma-patra-viśāla-akṣī māruta-sya aurasam sutam
41. Having seen him, who resembled a mountain, Janaka's daughter, whose eyes were wide like lotus petals, spoke to Vāyu's own son.
तव सत्त्वं बलं चैव विजानामि महाकपे ।
वायोरिव गतिं चापि तेजश्चाग्निरिवाद्भुतम् ॥४२॥
42. tava sattvaṃ balaṃ caiva vijānāmi mahākape ,
vāyoriva gatiṃ cāpi tejaścāgnirivādbhutam.
42. tava sattvam balam ca eva vijānāmi mahā-kape
vāyoḥ iva gatim ca api tejaḥ ca agniḥ iva adbhutam
42. O great monkey, I know your essential nature (sattva) and your immense strength. Your speed is like that of Vāyu, and your splendor is amazing, like fire.
प्राकृतो ऽन्यः कथं चेमां भूमिमागन्तुमर्हति ।
उदधेरप्रमेयस्य पारं वानरपुंगव ॥४३॥
43. prākṛto'nyaḥ kathaṃ cemāṃ bhūmimāgantumarhati ,
udadheraprameyasya pāraṃ vānarapuṃgava.
43. prākṛtaḥ anyaḥ katham ca imām bhūmim āgantum
arhati udadheḥ aprameyasya pāram vānara-puṅgava
43. O best of monkeys, how could any other ordinary being be able to come to this land, across the immeasurable ocean?
जानामि गमने शक्तिं नयने चापि ते मम ।
अवश्यं साम्प्रधार्याशु कार्यसिद्धिरिहात्मनः ॥४४॥
44. jānāmi gamane śaktiṃ nayane cāpi te mama ,
avaśyaṃ sāmpradhāryāśu kāryasiddhirihātmanaḥ.
44. jānāmi gamane śaktim nayane ca api te mama |
avaśyam sampradhāryā āśu kāryasiddhiḥ iha ātmanaḥ
44. I know your power (śakti) in movement and also in carrying me. The accomplishment of my own objective (ātman) must certainly be quickly determined here.
अयुक्तं तु कपिश्रेष्ठ मया गन्तुं त्वया सह ।
वायुवेगसवेगस्य वेगो मां मोहयेत्तव ॥४५॥
45. ayuktaṃ tu kapiśreṣṭha mayā gantuṃ tvayā saha ,
vāyuvegasavegasya vego māṃ mohayettava.
45. ayuktam tu kapiśreṣṭha mayā gantum tvayā saha
| vāyuvegasavegasya vegaḥ mām mohayet tava
45. But, O best of monkeys, it is improper for me to go with you. Your speed, which is like the speed of the wind, might overpower me.
अहमाकाशमासक्ता उपर्युपरि सागरम् ।
प्रपतेयं हि ते पृष्ठाद्भयाद्वेगेन गच्छतः ॥४६॥
46. ahamākāśamāsaktā uparyupari sāgaram ,
prapateyaṃ hi te pṛṣṭhādbhayādvegena gacchataḥ.
46. aham ākāśam āsaktā upari upari sāgaram |
prapateyam hi te pṛṣṭhāt bhayāt vegena gacchataḥ
46. Clinging to you, high above the ocean in the sky, I would surely fall from your back out of fear, as you travel at great speed.
पतिता सागरे चाहं तिमिनक्रझषाकुले ।
भयेयमाशु विवशा यादसामन्नमुत्तमम् ॥४७॥
47. patitā sāgare cāhaṃ timinakrajhaṣākule ,
bhayeyamāśu vivaśā yādasāmannamuttamam.
47. patitā sāgare ca aham timinakrajhaṣākule |
bhareyam āśu vivaśā yādasām annam uttamam
47. And falling into the ocean, teeming with whales, crocodiles, and fish, I would quickly become helpless, choice food for the aquatic creatures.
न च शक्ष्ये त्वया सार्धं गन्तुं शत्रुविनाशन ।
कलत्रवति संदेहस्त्वय्यपि स्यादसंशयम् ॥४८॥
48. na ca śakṣye tvayā sārdhaṃ gantuṃ śatruvināśana ,
kalatravati saṃdehastvayyapi syādasaṃśayam.
48. na ca śakṣye tvayā sārdham gantum śatruvināśana
kalatravati sandehaḥ tvayi api syāt asaṃśayam
48. O destroyer of enemies, I will not be able to go with you. For a man accompanied by a woman, doubts would undoubtedly arise, and the same would apply to you.
ह्रियमाणां तु मां दृष्ट्वा राक्षसा भीमविक्रमाः ।
अनुगच्छेयुरादिष्टा रावणेन दुरात्मना ॥४९॥
49. hriyamāṇāṃ tu māṃ dṛṣṭvā rākṣasā bhīmavikramāḥ ,
anugaccheyurādiṣṭā rāvaṇena durātmanā.
49. hriyamāṇām tu mām dṛṣṭvā rākṣasāḥ bhīmavikramāḥ
anugaccheyuḥ ādiṣṭāḥ rāvaṇena durātmanā
49. But seeing me being carried away, the rākṣasas of terrible prowess, ordered by the evil-minded Rāvaṇa, would follow.
तैस्त्वं परिवृतः शूरैः शूलमुद्गर पाणिभिः ।
भवेस्त्वं संशयं प्राप्तो मया वीर कलत्रवान् ॥५०॥
50. taistvaṃ parivṛtaḥ śūraiḥ śūlamudgara pāṇibhiḥ ,
bhavestvaṃ saṃśayaṃ prāpto mayā vīra kalatravān.
50. taiḥ tvam parivṛtaḥ śūraiḥ śūlamudgarapāṇibhiḥ
bhavesta tvam saṃśayam prāptaḥ mayā vīra kalatravān
50. Surrounded by those valiant ones, holding spears and maces in their hands, you, O hero, accompanied by a woman, would fall into danger.
सायुधा बहवो व्योम्नि राक्षसास्त्वं निरायुधः ।
कथं शक्ष्यसि संयातुं मां चैव परिरक्षितुम् ॥५१॥
51. sāyudhā bahavo vyomni rākṣasāstvaṃ nirāyudhaḥ ,
kathaṃ śakṣyasi saṃyātuṃ māṃ caiva parirakṣitum.
51. sāyudhāḥ bahavaḥ vyomni rākṣasāḥ tvam nirāyudhaḥ
katham śakṣyasi saṃyātum mām ca eva parirakṣitum
51. Many rākṣasas would be in the sky, armed, while you are unarmed. How will you be able to fight and also protect me?
युध्यमानस्य रक्षोभिस्ततस्तैः क्रूरकर्मभिः ।
प्रपतेयं हि ते पृष्ठद्भयार्ता कपिसत्तम ॥५२॥
52. yudhyamānasya rakṣobhistatastaiḥ krūrakarmabhiḥ ,
prapateyaṃ hi te pṛṣṭhadbhayārtā kapisattama.
52. yudhyamānasya rakṣobhiḥ tataḥ taiḥ krūrakarmabhiḥ
prapateyam hi te pṛṣṭhat bhayārtā kapisattama
52. O best of monkeys, while you are fighting those cruel-acting demons, I, afflicted by fear, might indeed fall from your back.
अथ रक्षांसि भीमानि महान्ति बलवन्ति च ।
कथं चित् साम्पराये त्वां जयेयुः कपिसत्तम ॥५३॥
53. atha rakṣāṃsi bhīmāni mahānti balavanti ca ,
kathaṃ cit sāmparāye tvāṃ jayeyuḥ kapisattama.
53. atha rakṣāṃsi bhīmāni mahānti balavanti ca
katham cit sāmparāye tvām jayeyuḥ kapisattama
53. And then, O best of monkeys, how could those terrifying, mighty, and powerful demons possibly defeat you in battle?
अथ वा युध्यमानस्य पतेयं विमुखस्य ते ।
पतितां च गृहीत्वा मां नयेयुः पापराक्षसाः ॥५४॥
54. atha vā yudhyamānasya pateyaṃ vimukhasya te ,
patitāṃ ca gṛhītvā māṃ nayeyuḥ pāparākṣasāḥ.
54. atha vā yudhyamānasya pateyam vimukhasya te
patitām ca gṛhītvā mām nayeyuḥ pāparākṣasāḥ
54. Or else, while you are fighting, should you turn your face away, I might fall from you. And then, the wicked demons might seize me, once I have fallen, and carry me off.
मां वा हरेयुस्त्वद्धस्ताद्विशसेयुरथापि वा ।
अव्यवस्थौ हि दृश्येते युद्धे जयपराजयौ ॥५५॥
55. māṃ vā hareyustvaddhastādviśaseyurathāpi vā ,
avyavasthau hi dṛśyete yuddhe jayaparājayau.
55. mām vā hareyuḥ tvaddhastāt viśaseyuḥ atha api
vā avyavasthau hi dṛśyete yuddhe jayaparājayau
55. Or they might abduct me from your hand, or even dismember me. For victory and defeat in battle are indeed observed to be uncertain.
अहं वापि विपद्येयं रक्षोभिरभितर्जिता ।
त्वत्प्रयत्नो हरिश्रेष्ठ भवेन्निष्फल एव तु ॥५६॥
56. ahaṃ vāpi vipadyeyaṃ rakṣobhirabhitarjitā ,
tvatprayatno hariśreṣṭha bhavenniṣphala eva tu.
56. aham vā api vipadyeyam rakṣobhiḥ abhitārjitā
tvatprayatnaḥ hariśreṣṭha bhavet niṣphalaḥ eva tu
56. hariśreṣṭha aham rakṣobhiḥ abhitārjitā vā api vipadyeyam [yadi],
tu tvatprayatnaḥ niṣphalaḥ eva bhavet
56. O best of monkeys, even if I were to perish, threatened by the demons, then your effort would indeed become completely fruitless.
कामं त्वमपि पर्याप्तो निहन्तुं सर्वराक्षसान् ।
राघवस्य यशो हीयेत्त्वया शस्तैस्तु राक्षसैः ॥५७॥
57. kāmaṃ tvamapi paryāpto nihantuṃ sarvarākṣasān ,
rāghavasya yaśo hīyettvayā śastaistu rākṣasaiḥ.
57. kāmam tvam api paryāptaḥ nihantum sarvarākṣasān
rāghavasya yaśaḥ hīyeta tvayā śastaiḥ tu rākṣasaiḥ
57. kāmam tvam api sarvarākṣasān nihantum paryāptaḥ [asi],
tu tvayā rākṣasaiḥ śastaiḥ [satsu] rāghavasya yaśaḥ hīyeta
57. Certainly, you are quite capable of killing all the demons. But if the demons were slain by you, the glory of Rāghava (Rāma) would diminish.
अथ वादाय रक्षांसि न्यस्येयुः संवृते हि माम् ।
यत्र ते नाभिजानीयुर्हरयो नापि राघवः ॥५८॥
58. atha vādāya rakṣāṃsi nyasyeyuḥ saṃvṛte hi mām ,
yatra te nābhijānīyurharayo nāpi rāghavaḥ.
58. atha vādāya rakṣāṃsi nyasyeyuḥ saṃvṛte hi mām
yatra te na abhijānīyuḥ harayaḥ na api rāghavaḥ
58. atha hi rakṣāṃsi vādāya mām saṃvṛte nyasyeyuḥ,
yatra te harayaḥ na abhijānīyuḥ,
na api rāghavaḥ
58. Or, for the purpose of a dispute, the demons might indeed place me in a hidden spot, where neither the monkeys nor even Rāghava (Rāma) would be able to discover me.
आरम्भस्तु मदर्थो ऽयं ततस्तव निरर्थकः ।
त्वया हि सह रामस्य महानागमने गुणः ॥५९॥
59. ārambhastu madartho'yaṃ tatastava nirarthakaḥ ,
tvayā hi saha rāmasya mahānāgamane guṇaḥ.
59. ārambhaḥ tu madarthaḥ ayam tataḥ tava nirarthakaḥ
tvayā hi saha rāmasya mahān āgamane guṇaḥ
59. tu ayam ārambhaḥ madarthaḥ [asti],
tataḥ tava nirarthakaḥ [syāt].
hi rāmasya tvayā saha āgamane mahān guṇaḥ [asti].
59. However, this undertaking is for my sake, and thus your solo effort would be pointless. Indeed, there is a great advantage in Rāma's coming (here) along with you.
मयि जीवितमायत्तं राघवस्य महात्मनः ।
भ्रातॄणां च महाबाहो तव राजकुलस्य च ॥६०॥
60. mayi jīvitamāyattaṃ rāghavasya mahātmanaḥ ,
bhrātṝṇāṃ ca mahābāho tava rājakulasya ca.
60. mayi jīvitam āyattam rāghavasya mahātmanaḥ
bhrātṝṇām ca mahābāho tava rājakulasya ca
60. mahābāho mayi mahātmanaḥ rāghavasya bhrātṝṇām
ca tava rājakulasya ca jīvitam āyattam
60. O mighty-armed one, the life of the great-souled Rāghava, as well as the lives of his brothers and your royal family, depend on me.
तौ निराशौ मदर्थे तु शोकसंतापकर्शितौ ।
सह सर्वर्क्षहरिभिस्त्यक्ष्यतः प्राणसंग्रहम् ॥६१॥
61. tau nirāśau madarthe tu śokasaṃtāpakarśitau ,
saha sarvarkṣaharibhistyakṣyataḥ prāṇasaṃgraham.
61. tau nirāśau madarthe tu śokasaṃtāpakarśitau saha
sarvarkṣaharibhiḥ tyakṣyataḥ prāṇasaṃgraham
61. tu madarthe nirāśau śokasaṃtāpakarśitau tau
sarvarkṣaharibhiḥ saha prāṇasaṃgraham tyakṣyataḥ
61. Indeed, those two (Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa), hopeless for my sake and emaciated by sorrow and anguish, will abandon their lives along with all the bears and monkeys.
भर्तुर्भक्तिं पुरस्कृत्य रामादन्यस्य वानर ।
नाहं स्प्रष्टुं पदा गात्रमिच्छेयं वानरोत्तम ॥६२॥
62. bharturbhaktiṃ puraskṛtya rāmādanyasya vānara ,
nāhaṃ spraṣṭuṃ padā gātramiccheyaṃ vānarottama.
62. bhartuḥ bhaktim puraskṛtya rāmāt anyasya vānara
na aham spraṣṭum padā gātram iccheyam vānarottama
62. vānara vānarottama bhartuḥ bhaktim puraskṛtya
rāmāt anyasya gātram padā spraṣṭum aham na iccheyam
62. O monkey, O best of monkeys, honoring my husband's devotion (bhakti), I would not wish to touch the body of anyone other than Rāma, not even with my foot.
यदहं गात्रसंस्पर्शं रावणस्य गता बलात् ।
अनीशा किं करिष्यामि विनाथा विवशा सती ॥६३॥
63. yadahaṃ gātrasaṃsparśaṃ rāvaṇasya gatā balāt ,
anīśā kiṃ kariṣyāmi vināthā vivaśā satī.
63. yat aham gātrasaṃsparśam rāvaṇasya gatā
balāt anīśā kim kariṣyāmi vināthā vivaśā satī
63. yat aham rāvaṇasya gātrasaṃsparśam balāt
gatā anīśā vināthā vivaśā satī kim kariṣyāmi
63. Since I forcibly experienced the touch of Rāvaṇa's body, being without a protector and helpless, what could I do, powerless as I was?
यदि रामो दशग्रीवमिह हत्वा सराक्षसं ।
मामितो गृह्य गच्छेत तत्तस्य सदृशं भवेत् ॥६४॥
64. yadi rāmo daśagrīvamiha hatvā sarākṣasaṃ ,
māmito gṛhya gaccheta tattasya sadṛśaṃ bhavet.
64. yadi rāmaḥ daśagrīvam iha hatvā sarākṣasam mām
itaḥ gṛhya gaccheta tat tasya sadṛśam bhavet
64. yadi rāmaḥ iha sarākṣasam daśagrīvam hatvā mām
itaḥ gṛhya gaccheta tat tasya sadṛśam bhavet
64. If Rāma were to kill Daśagrīva along with his demons here, and then take me from this place, that action would certainly be appropriate for him.
श्रुता हि दृष्टाश्च मया पराक्रमा महात्मनस्तस्य रणावमर्दिनः ।
न देवगन्धर्वभुजंगराक्षसा भवन्ति रामेण समा हि संयुगे ॥६५॥
65. śrutā hi dṛṣṭāśca mayā parākramā mahātmanastasya raṇāvamardinaḥ ,
na devagandharvabhujaṃgarākṣasā bhavanti rāmeṇa samā hi saṃyuge.
65. śrutāḥ hi dṛṣṭāḥ ca mayā parākramāḥ
mahātmanaḥ tasya raṇāvamardinaḥ
na devagandharvabhujagarākṣasāḥ
bhavanti rāmeṇa samāḥ hi saṃyuge
65. hi mayā tasya mahātmanaḥ raṇāvamardinaḥ
parākramāḥ śrutāḥ ca dṛṣṭāḥ
hi devagandharvabhujagarākṣasāḥ
rāmeṇa samāḥ saṃyuge na bhavanti
65. Indeed, I have both heard and witnessed the valiant deeds of that great-souled (mahātman) hero, who crushes foes in battle. For surely, no gods, gandharvas, serpents, or demons can match Rāma in combat.
समीक्ष्य तं संयति चित्रकार्मुकं महाबलं वासवतुल्यविक्रमम् ।
सलक्ष्मणं को विषहेत राघवं हुताशनं दीप्तमिवानिलेरितम् ॥६६॥
66. samīkṣya taṃ saṃyati citrakārmukaṃ mahābalaṃ vāsavatulyavikramam ,
salakṣmaṇaṃ ko viṣaheta rāghavaṃ hutāśanaṃ dīptamivānileritam.

66. kaḥ salakṣmaṇam saṃyati citrakārmukam

dīptam anileritam hutāśanam iva
66. Who, upon seeing that Rāghava (Rāma) in battle - armed with his wondrous bow, greatly mighty, and possessing valor equal to Indra - along with Lakṣmaṇa, could possibly withstand him? He is like a blazing fire fanned by the wind.
सलक्ष्मणं राघवमाजिमर्दनं दिशागजं मत्तमिव व्यवस्थितम् ।
सहेत को वानरमुख्य संयुगे युगान्तसूर्यप्रतिमं शरार्चिषम् ॥६७॥
67. salakṣmaṇaṃ rāghavamājimardanaṃ diśāgajaṃ mattamiva vyavasthitam ,
saheta ko vānaramukhya saṃyuge yugāntasūryapratimaṃ śarārciṣam.

67. O chief of monkeys, who in battle could withstand Rāghava (Rāma) accompanied by Lakṣmaṇa, the vanquisher of foes, who stands like a furious directional elephant (diśāgaja), and whose fiery arrows (śarārciṣa) are like the sun at the end of a cosmic age (yugāntasūrya)?
स मे हरिश्रेष्ठ सलक्ष्मणं पतिं सयूथपं क्षिप्रमिहोपपादय ।
चिराय रामं प्रति शोककर्शितां कुरुष्व मां वानरमुख्य हर्षिताम् ॥६८॥
68. sa me hariśreṣṭha salakṣmaṇaṃ patiṃ sayūthapaṃ kṣipramihopapādaya ,
cirāya rāmaṃ prati śokakarśitāṃ kuruṣva māṃ vānaramukhya harṣitām.

sayūthapam kṣipram iha upapāday
cirāya rāmam prati śokakarśitām
kuruṣva mām vānarāmukhya harṣitām

mām cirāya harṣitām kuruṣva
68. O best among monkeys, O chief of monkeys, quickly bring my husband, accompanied by Lakṣmaṇa and his troop leaders, here to me. Make me, who is emaciated by sorrow for Rāma, joyful for a long time.
