तया परुषमुक्तस्तु कुपितो राघवानुजः ।
स विकाङ्क्षन्भृशं रामं प्रतस्थे नचिरादिव ॥१॥
1. tayā paruṣamuktastu kupito rāghavānujaḥ ,
sa vikāṅkṣanbhṛśaṃ rāmaṃ pratasthe nacirādiva.

1. But Lakshmana, the younger brother of Rama (Rāghavānuja), angered by her harsh words, departed very soon, longing intensely for Rama.
तदासाद्य दशग्रीवः क्षिप्रमन्तरमास्थितः ।
अभिचक्राम वैदेहीं परिव्राजकरूपधृक् ॥२॥
2. tadāsādya daśagrīvaḥ kṣipramantaramāsthitaḥ ,
abhicakrāma vaidehīṃ parivrājakarūpadhṛk.

2. Then, the ten-headed one (Daśagrīva) quickly seized the opportunity, and assuming the form of an ascetic, approached Vaidehi (Sita).
श्लक्ष्णकाषायसंवीतः शिखी छत्री उपानही ।
वामे चांसे ऽवसज्याथ शुभे यष्टिकमण्डलू ।
परिव्राजकरूपेण वैदेहीं समुपागमत् ॥३॥
3. ślakṣṇakāṣāyasaṃvītaḥ śikhī chatrī upānahī ,
vāme cāṃse'vasajyātha śubhe yaṣṭikamaṇḍalū ,
parivrājakarūpeṇa vaidehīṃ samupāgamat.

3. Then, covered in smooth, brownish-red garments, with a top-knot, carrying an umbrella, and wearing sandals, he hung an auspicious staff and water-pot on his left shoulder. In the guise of a wandering ascetic, he approached Vaidehi (Sītā).
तामाससादातिबलो भ्रातृभ्यां रहितां वने ।
रहितां सूर्यचन्द्राभ्यां संध्यामिव महत्तमः ॥४॥
4. tāmāsasādātibalo bhrātṛbhyāṃ rahitāṃ vane ,
rahitāṃ sūryacandrābhyāṃ saṃdhyāmiva mahattamaḥ.

4. The exceedingly powerful one (Rāvaṇa) approached her (Sītā), who was in the forest, bereft of her two brothers, just as a great darkness approaches twilight bereft of the sun and moon.
तामपश्यत्ततो बालां राजपुत्रीं यशस्विनीम् ।
रोहिणीं शशिना हीनां ग्रहवद्भृशदारुणः ॥५॥
5. tāmapaśyattato bālāṃ rājaputrīṃ yaśasvinīm ,
rohiṇīṃ śaśinā hīnāṃ grahavadbhṛśadāruṇaḥ.
5. tām apaśyat tataḥ bālām rājaputrīm yaśasvinīm
rohiṇīm śaśinā hīnām grahavat bhṛśadāruṇaḥ

5. Then, the exceedingly dreadful one (Rāvaṇa) saw her, the young, glorious princess, like an inauspicious planet (approaching) the star Rohiṇī when it is devoid of the moon.
तमुग्रं पापकर्माणं जनस्थानरुहा द्रुमाः ।
समीक्ष्य न प्रकम्पन्ते न प्रवाति च मारुतः ॥६॥
6. tamugraṃ pāpakarmāṇaṃ janasthānaruhā drumāḥ ,
samīkṣya na prakampante na pravāti ca mārutaḥ.

6. Beholding that fierce, evil-doer (Rāvaṇa), the trees growing in Janasthāna did not tremble, and the wind did not blow.
शीघ्रस्रोताश्च तं दृष्ट्वा वीक्षन्तं रक्तलोचनम् ।
स्तिमितं गन्तुमारेभे भयाद्गोदावरी नदी ॥७॥
7. śīghrasrotāśca taṃ dṛṣṭvā vīkṣantaṃ raktalocanam ,
stimitaṃ gantumārebhe bhayādgodāvarī nadī.
7. śīghrasrotāḥ ca tam dṛṣṭvā vīkṣantam raktalocanam
stimitam gantum ārebhe bhayāt godāvarī nadī
7. godāvarī nadī śīghrasrotāḥ ca,

7. And the swift-flowing Godavari river, seeing him looking with red eyes, began to flow sluggishly out of fear.
रामस्य त्वन्तरं प्रेप्सुर्दशग्रीवस्तदन्तरे ।
उपतस्थे च वैदेहीं भिक्षुरूपेण रावणः ॥८॥
8. rāmasya tvantaraṃ prepsurdaśagrīvastadantare ,
upatasthe ca vaidehīṃ bhikṣurūpeṇa rāvaṇaḥ.
8. rāmasya tu antaram prepsuḥ daśagrīvaḥ tat antare
upatasthe ca vaidehīm bhikṣurūpeṇa rāvaṇaḥ
8. daśagrīvaḥ rāvaṇaḥ tu,

8. Meanwhile, Daśagrīva, indeed wishing to seize an opportunity when Rāma was absent, approached Vaidehī in the guise of a mendicant; it was Rāvaṇa.
अभव्यो भव्यरूपेण भर्तारमनुशोचतीम् ।
अभ्यवर्तत वैदेहीं चित्रामिव शनैश्चरः ॥९॥
9. abhavyo bhavyarūpeṇa bhartāramanuśocatīm ,
abhyavartata vaidehīṃ citrāmiva śanaiścaraḥ.
9. abhavyaḥ bhavyarūpeṇa bhartāram anuśocatīm
abhyavartata vaidehīm citrām iva śanaiścaraḥ

9. The evil one, in a pleasing form, approached Vaidehī, who was grieving for her husband, just as the planet Saturn (Śanaiścara) approaches the Citrā constellation.
स पापो भव्यरूपेण तृणैः कूप इवावृतः ।
अतिष्ठत् प्रेक्ष्य वैदेहीं रामपत्नीं यशस्विनीम् ॥१०॥
10. sa pāpo bhavyarūpeṇa tṛṇaiḥ kūpa ivāvṛtaḥ ,
atiṣṭhat prekṣya vaidehīṃ rāmapatnīṃ yaśasvinīm.
10. saḥ pāpaḥ bhavyarūpeṇa tṛṇaiḥ kūpaḥ iva āvṛtaḥ
atiṣṭhat prekṣya vaidehīm rāmapatnīm yaśasvinīm
10. saḥ pāpaḥ bhavyarūpeṇa,

10. That wicked one, in his pleasing guise, stood gazing at Vaidehī, Rāma's glorious wife, like a well covered by grass.
शुभां रुचिरदन्तौष्ठीं पूर्णचन्द्रनिभाननाम् ।
आसीनां पर्णशालायां बाष्पशोकाभिपीडिताम् ॥११॥
11. śubhāṃ ruciradantauṣṭhīṃ pūrṇacandranibhānanām ,
āsīnāṃ parṇaśālāyāṃ bāṣpaśokābhipīḍitām.

11. Auspicious, with beautiful teeth and lips, having a face like the full moon, she was seated in a leaf-hut, afflicted by tears and sorrow.
स तां पद्मपलाशाक्षीं पीतकौशेयवासिनीम् ।
अभ्यगच्छत वैदेहीं दुष्टचेता निशाचरः ॥१२॥
12. sa tāṃ padmapalāśākṣīṃ pītakauśeyavāsinīm ,
abhyagacchata vaidehīṃ duṣṭacetā niśācaraḥ.
12. saḥ tām padmapalāśākṣīm pītakauśeyavāsinīm
abhi agacchat vaidehīm duṣṭacetāḥ niśācaraḥ
12. saḥ duṣṭacetāḥ niśācaraḥ tām padmapalāśākṣīm

12. The evil-minded night-wanderer (Rākṣasa) approached her, the one with eyes like lotus petals, wearing yellow silk garments, Vaidehī.
स मन्मथशराविष्टो ब्रह्मघोषमुदीरयन् ।
अब्रवीत् प्रश्रितं वाक्यं रहिते राक्षसाधिपः ॥१३॥
13. sa manmathaśarāviṣṭo brahmaghoṣamudīrayan ,
abravīt praśritaṃ vākyaṃ rahite rākṣasādhipaḥ.
13. saḥ manmathaśarāviṣṭaḥ brahmaghoṣam udīrayan
abravīt praśritam vākyam rahite rākṣasādhipaḥ
13. saḥ rākṣasādhipaḥ manmathaśarāviṣṭaḥ brahmaghoṣam

13. Overcome by the arrows of the god of love, the king of Rākṣasas uttered a sacred sound (brahmaghoṣa) and spoke humble words in a secluded place.
तामुत्तमां त्रिलोकानां पद्महीनामिव श्रियम् ।
विभ्राजमानां वपुषा रावणः प्रशशंस ह ॥१४॥
14. tāmuttamāṃ trilokānāṃ padmahīnāmiva śriyam ,
vibhrājamānāṃ vapuṣā rāvaṇaḥ praśaśaṃsa ha.
14. tām uttamām trilokānām padmahīnām iva śriyam
vibhrājamānām vapuṣā rāvaṇaḥ praśaśaṃsa ha
14. rāvaṇaḥ tām uttamām trilokānām vibhrājamānām

14. Indeed, Ravana praised her, who was supreme among the three worlds, shining with her form, like the goddess of prosperity (Śrī) deprived of her lotus.
का त्वं काञ्चनवर्णाभे पीतकौशेयवासिनि ।
कमलानां शुभां मालां पद्मिनीव च बिभ्रती ॥१५॥
15. kā tvaṃ kāñcanavarṇābhe pītakauśeyavāsini ,
kamalānāṃ śubhāṃ mālāṃ padminīva ca bibhratī.

kamalānām śubhām mālām padminī iva ca bibhratī

15. O you with a golden complexion, clad in yellow silk, and bearing a beautiful garland of lotuses, like a lotus-bearing woman (padminī), who are you?
ह्रीः श्रीः कीर्तिः शुभा लक्ष्मीरप्सरा वा शुभानने ।
भूतिर्वा त्वं वरारोहे रतिर्वा स्वैरचारिणी ॥१६॥
16. hrīḥ śrīḥ kīrtiḥ śubhā lakṣmīrapsarā vā śubhānane ,
bhūtirvā tvaṃ varārohe ratirvā svairacāriṇī.
16. hrīḥ śrīḥ kīrtiḥ śubhā lakṣmīḥ apsarā vā śubhānane
bhūtiḥ vā tvam varārohe ratiḥ vā svairacāriṇī
16. śubhānane,
tvam hrīḥ śrīḥ kīrtiḥ śubhā lakṣmīḥ vā apsarā vā? varārohe,
tvam bhūtiḥ vā svairacāriṇī ratiḥ vā?
16. O beautiful-faced one, are you Modesty (hrī), Prosperity (śrī), Fame (kīrti), or the auspicious goddess Lakṣmī? Or are you an Apsara? O you with lovely hips, are you Power (bhūti) or Rati, who moves about freely?
समाः शिखरिणः स्निग्धाः पाण्डुरा दशनास्तव ।
विशाले विमले नेत्रे रक्तान्ते कृष्णतारके ॥१७॥
17. samāḥ śikhariṇaḥ snigdhāḥ pāṇḍurā daśanāstava ,
viśāle vimale netre raktānte kṛṣṇatārake.

17. Your teeth are even, sharp, smooth, and yellowish-white. Your eyes are wide, clear, reddish at the corners, and possess black pupils.
विशालं जघनं पीनमूरू करिकरोपमौ ।
एताव् उपचितौ वृत्तौ सहितौ संप्रगल्भितौ ॥१८॥
18. viśālaṃ jaghanaṃ pīnamūrū karikaropamau ,
etāv upacitau vṛttau sahitau saṃpragalbhitau.

18. Your hips are broad and full. Your thighs resemble elephants' trunks. These two (thighs) are plump, round, close-set, and very graceful.
पीनोन्नतमुखौ कान्तौ स्निग्धतालफलोपमौ ।
मणिप्रवेकाभरणौ रुचिरौ ते पयोधरौ ॥१९॥
19. pīnonnatamukhau kāntau snigdhatālaphalopamau ,
maṇipravekābharaṇau rucirau te payodharau.

19. Your two breasts are plump and prominent, beautiful, smooth like Palmyra fruits, adorned with excellent jewels, and radiant.
चारुस्मिते चारुदति चारुनेत्रे विलासिनि ।
मनो हरसि मे रामे नदीकूलमिवाम्भसा ॥२०॥
20. cārusmite cārudati cārunetre vilāsini ,
mano harasi me rāme nadīkūlamivāmbhasā.

manaḥ harasi me rāme nadīkūlam iva ambhasā
20. rāme cārusmite cārudati cārunetre vilāsini,

20. O you with a charming smile, beautiful teeth, and lovely eyes, O playful one! You captivate my mind, Rāma, just as water erodes a riverbank.
करान्तमितमध्यासि सुकेशी संहतस्तनी ।
नैव देवी न गन्धर्वी न यक्षी न च किंनरी ॥२१॥
21. karāntamitamadhyāsi sukeśī saṃhatastanī ,
naiva devī na gandharvī na yakṣī na ca kiṃnarī.
21. karāntamitamadhyā asi sukeśī saṃhatastanī na
eva devī na gandharvī na yakṣī na ca kiṃnarī
21. sukeśī saṃhatastanī karāntamitamadhyā asi.
na eva devī,
na gandharvī,
na yakṣī,
na ca kiṃnarī.
21. You have a waist that can be grasped by a hand, beautiful hair, and firm breasts. You are neither a goddess, nor a Gandharva woman, nor a Yakṣa woman, nor a Kinnarī.
नैवंरूपा मया नारी दृष्टपूर्वा महीतले ।
इह वासश्च कान्तारे चित्तमुन्माथयन्ति मे ॥२२॥
22. naivaṃrūpā mayā nārī dṛṣṭapūrvā mahītale ,
iha vāsaśca kāntāre cittamunmāthayanti me.
22. na evam rūpā mayā nārī dṛṣṭapūrvā mahītale
iha vāsaḥ ca kāntāre cittam unmathayanti me
22. mayā mahītale evam rūpā nārī dṛṣṭapūrvā na.
iha kāntāre vāsaḥ ca me cittam unmathayanti.
22. I have never before seen on earth a woman of such beauty. And this dwelling here in the forest, along with (your presence), intensely agitates my mind.
सा प्रतिक्राम भद्रं ते न त्वं वस्तुमिहार्हसि ।
राक्षसानामयं वासो घोराणां कामरूपिणाम् ॥२३॥
23. sā pratikrāma bhadraṃ te na tvaṃ vastumihārhasi ,
rākṣasānāmayaṃ vāso ghorāṇāṃ kāmarūpiṇām.
23. sā pratikrāma bhadram te na tvam vastum iha
arhasi rākṣasānām ayam vāsaḥ ghorāṇām kāmarūpiṇām
23. sā pratikrāma te bhadram tvam na iha vastum
arhasi ayam ghorāṇām kāmarūpiṇām rākṣasānām vāsaḥ
23. You, go back; may good fortune be upon you. You are not suitable to reside here. This place is the dwelling of terrifying Rākṣasas who can change their forms at will.
प्रासादाग्र्याणि रम्याणि नगरोपवनानि च ।
संपन्नानि सुगन्धीनि युक्तान्याचरितुं त्वया ॥२४॥
24. prāsādāgryāṇi ramyāṇi nagaropavanāni ca ,
saṃpannāni sugandhīni yuktānyācarituṃ tvayā.
24. prāsādāgryāṇi ramyāṇi nagaropavanāni ca
saṃpannāni sugandhīni yuktāni ācaritum tvayā
24. prāsādāgryāṇi ramyāṇi nagaropavanāni ca

24. Magnificent and delightful palaces, as well as fragrant, prosperous city gardens, are suitable for you to frequent.
वरं माल्यं वरं पानं वरं वस्त्रं च शोभने ।
भर्तारं च वरं मन्ये त्वद्युक्तमसितेक्षणे ॥२५॥
25. varaṃ mālyaṃ varaṃ pānaṃ varaṃ vastraṃ ca śobhane ,
bhartāraṃ ca varaṃ manye tvadyuktamasitekṣaṇe.
25. varam mālyam varam pānam varam vastram ca śobhane
bhartāram ca varam manye tvat yuktam asitekṣaṇe
25. śobhane varam mālyam varam pānam varam vastram ca
asitekṣaṇe varam bhartāram ca tvat yuktam manye
25. Excellent garlands, fine beverages, and splendid garments are available, O beautiful one. And I consider an excellent husband suitable for you, O dark-eyed one.
का त्वं भवसि रुद्राणां मरुतां वा शुचिस्मिते ।
वसूनां वा वरारोहे देवता प्रतिभासि मे ॥२६॥
26. kā tvaṃ bhavasi rudrāṇāṃ marutāṃ vā śucismite ,
vasūnāṃ vā varārohe devatā pratibhāsi me.
26. kā tvam bhavasi rudrāṇām marutām vā śucismite
vasūnām vā varārohe devatā pratibhāsi me
26. śucismite tvam rudrāṇām vā marutām vā kā
bhavasi varārohe vasūnām vā devatā me pratibhāsi
26. Who are you, O lady with a pure smile, among the Rudras or the Maruts? Or, O lady with shapely hips, you appear to me to be a goddess among the Vasus.
नेह गच्छन्ती गन्धर्वा न देवा न च किंनराः ।
राक्षसानामयं वासः कथं नु त्वमिहागता ॥२७॥
27. neha gacchantī gandharvā na devā na ca kiṃnarāḥ ,
rākṣasānāmayaṃ vāsaḥ kathaṃ nu tvamihāgatā.
27. na iha gacchanti gandharvāḥ na devāḥ na ca kiṃnarāḥ
rākṣasānām ayam vāsaḥ katham nu tvam iha āgatā
27. gandharvāḥ na devāḥ na ca kiṃnarāḥ iha na gacchanti
ayam rākṣasānām vāsaḥ nu katham tvam iha āgatā?
27. Neither Gandharvas, nor gods, nor Kinnaras come to this place. This is the dwelling of Rākṣasas. How is it then that you, a woman, have arrived here?
इह शाखामृगाः सिंहा द्वीपिव्याघ्रमृगास्तथा ।
ऋक्षास्तरक्षवः कङ्काः कथं तेभ्यो न बिभ्यसे ॥२८॥
28. iha śākhāmṛgāḥ siṃhā dvīpivyāghramṛgāstathā ,
ṛkṣāstarakṣavaḥ kaṅkāḥ kathaṃ tebhyo na bibhyase.
28. iha śākhāmṛgāḥ siṃhāḥ dvīpivyāghramṛgāḥ tathā
ṛkṣāḥ tarakṣavaḥ kaṅkāḥ katham tebhyaḥ na bibhyase
28. iha śākhāmṛgāḥ siṃhāḥ dvīpivyāghramṛgāḥ tathā ṛkṣāḥ
tarakṣavaḥ kaṅkāḥ (santi) katham tebhyaḥ na bibhyase?
28. Here are monkeys, lions, leopards, tigers, and other wild animals. There are also bears, hyenas, and vultures. How is it that you are not afraid of them?
मदान्वितानां घोराणां कुञ्जराणां तरस्विनाम् ।
कथमेका महारण्ये न बिभेषि वनानने ॥२९॥
29. madānvitānāṃ ghorāṇāṃ kuñjarāṇāṃ tarasvinām ,
kathamekā mahāraṇye na bibheṣi vanānane.
29. madānvitānām ghorāṇām kuñjarāṇām tarasvinām
katham ekā mahāraṇye na bibheṣi vanānane
29. vanānane! katham ekā mahāraṇye madānvitānām
ghorāṇām tarasvinām kuñjarāṇām (ca) na bibheṣi?
29. O lovely one, how is it that you, all alone in this great forest, are not afraid of the fierce, powerful, and rutting elephants?
कासि कस्य कुतश्च त्वं किंनिमित्तं च दण्डकान् ।
एका चरसि कल्याणि घोरान् राक्षससेवितान् ॥३०॥
30. kāsi kasya kutaśca tvaṃ kiṃnimittaṃ ca daṇḍakān ,
ekā carasi kalyāṇi ghorān rākṣasasevitān.
30. kā asi kasya kutaḥ ca tvam kim nimittam ca
daṇḍakān ekā carasi kalyāṇi ghorān rākṣasasevitān
30. kalyāṇi! tvam kā asi? kasya (asi)? kutaḥ ca (āgatā)? ca
kim nimittam ekā ghorān rākṣasasevitān daṇḍakān carasi?
30. O auspicious one, who are you? Whose are you? From where have you come? And for what purpose do you, all alone, wander in the dreadful Daṇḍaka forest, which is frequented by Rākṣasas?
इति प्रशस्ता वैदेही रावणेन दुरात्मना ।
द्विजातिवेषेण हि तं दृष्ट्वा रावणमागतम् ।
सर्वैरतिथिसत्कारैः पूजयामास मैथिली ॥३१॥
31. iti praśastā vaidehī rāvaṇena durātmanā ,
dvijātiveṣeṇa hi taṃ dṛṣṭvā rāvaṇamāgatam ,
sarvairatithisatkāraiḥ pūjayāmāsa maithilī.

31. When Vaidehi was thus addressed by the evil-minded Ravana, she, seeing him approach in the guise of a Brahmin, honored him with all guest courtesies.
उपानीयासनं पूर्वं पाद्येनाभिनिमन्त्र्य च ।
अब्रवीत् सिद्धमित्येव तदा तं सौम्यदर्शनम् ॥३२॥
32. upānīyāsanaṃ pūrvaṃ pādyenābhinimantrya ca ,
abravīt siddhamityeva tadā taṃ saumyadarśanam.

32. First, having brought a seat and invited him with water for the feet, she then said to him, who appeared gentle, "It is indeed prepared."
द्विजातिवेषेण समीक्ष्य मैथिली तमागतं पात्रकुसुम्भधारिणम् ।
अशक्यमुद्द्वेष्टुमुपायदर्शनान्न्यमन्त्रयद्ब्राह्मणवद् यथागतम् ॥३३॥
33. dvijātiveṣeṇa samīkṣya maithilī tamāgataṃ pātrakusumbhadhāriṇam ,
aśakyamuddveṣṭumupāyadarśanānnyamantrayadbrāhmaṇavad yathāgatam.

aśakyam uddveṣṭum upāyadarśanāt
nyamantryat brāhmaṇavat yathāgatam

33. Maithili, having observed him arrive in the guise of a Brahmin, bearing a bowl and safflower, and realizing it was impossible to repel him due to his appearance, invited him reverently as a Brahmin should be, just as he had come.
इयं बृसी ब्राह्मण काममास्यतामिदं च पाद्यं प्रतिगृह्यतामिति ।
इदं च सिद्धं वनजातमुत्तमं त्वदर्थमव्यग्रमिहोपभुज्यताम् ॥३४॥
34. iyaṃ bṛsī brāhmaṇa kāmamāsyatāmidaṃ ca pādyaṃ pratigṛhyatāmiti ,
idaṃ ca siddhaṃ vanajātamuttamaṃ tvadarthamavyagramihopabhujyatām.

idam ca pādyam pratigṛhyatām iti idam
ca siddham vanajātam uttamam
tvadartham avyagram iha upabhujyatām

34. She said: "O Brahmin, please be seated on this grass mat as you wish. And may this water for the feet be accepted. Also, may this excellent, prepared forest-produce, meant for you, be consumed here without anxiety."
निमन्त्र्यमाणः प्रतिपूर्णभाषिणीं नरेन्द्रपत्नीं प्रसमीक्ष्य मैथिलीम् ।
प्रहस्य तस्या हरणे धृतं मनः समर्पयामास वधाय रावणः ॥३५॥
35. nimantryamāṇaḥ pratipūrṇabhāṣiṇīṃ narendrapatnīṃ prasamīkṣya maithilīm ,
prahasya tasyā haraṇe dhṛtaṃ manaḥ samarpayāmāsa vadhāya rāvaṇaḥ.

35. Ravana, having carefully observed Maithili (Sita), the king's wife, who was responding fully and appropriately to his address, laughed. He then directed his mind, which had been intent on her abduction, towards her destruction.
ततः सुवेषं मृगया गतं पतिं प्रतीक्षमाणा सहलक्ष्मणं तदा ।
निरीक्षमाणा हरितं ददर्श तन्महद्वनं नैव तु रामलक्ष्मणौ ॥३६॥
36. tataḥ suveṣaṃ mṛgayā gataṃ patiṃ pratīkṣamāṇā sahalakṣmaṇaṃ tadā ,
nirīkṣamāṇā haritaṃ dadarśa tanmahadvanaṃ naiva tu rāmalakṣmaṇau.

pratīkṣamāṇā sahalakṣmaṇam tadā
nirīkṣamāṇā haritam dadarśa tat
mahat vanam na eva tu rāmalakṣmaṇau

suveṣam mṛgayā gatam sahalakṣmaṇam
patim sā haritam tat mahat
vanam dadarśa tu rāmalakṣmaṇau na eva
36. Then, at that time, she (Sita), waiting for her husband, who was handsomely attired and had gone hunting with Lakshmana, looked around. She saw that vast green forest, but not Rama and Lakshmana.
