1. Shri Vasishtha said: Having flown further and further, and having slowly reached a high position, the two, proceeding hand in hand, then saw the sky.
एकार्णवमिवोच्छूनं गम्भीरं निर्मलान्तरम् ।
कोमलं कोमलमरुदासङ्गसुखभोगदम् ॥ २ ॥

komalaṃ komalamarudāsaṅgasukhabhogadam 2

2. They saw the sky (nabhaḥ) as if it were a single swollen ocean, deep, with a clear interior, soft, and bestowing the pleasure of contact with gentle breezes.
आह्लादकमलं सौम्यं शून्यताम्भोनिमज्जनात् ।
अत्यन्तशुद्धं गम्भीरं प्रसन्नमपि सज्जनात् ॥ ३ ॥
āhlādakamalaṃ saumyaṃ śūnyatāmbhonimajjanāt ,
atyantaśuddhaṃ gambhīraṃ prasannamapi sajjanāt 3
3. āhlādakamalam saumyam śūnyatāmbhonimajjanāt
atyantaśuddham gambhīram prasannam api sajjanāt

3. Joyful, gentle, and lotus-like, it emerges from immersion in the waters of emptiness. It is extremely pure, profound, and serene, even more so than a virtuous person.
शृङ्गस्थनिर्मलाम्भोदपीनोदरसुधालये ।
विशश्रमतुराशासु पूर्णचन्द्रोदरामले ॥ ४ ॥

4. They both rested amidst the directions (āśāsu), (a setting) like an abode of nectar with the swollen interior of clear clouds upon mountain peaks, and spotless and magnificent like the rising full moon.
सिद्धगन्धर्वमन्दारमालामोदमनोहरे ।
चन्द्रमण्डलनिष्क्रान्ते रेमाते मधुरानिले ॥ ५ ॥

5. They both, charming with the fragrance of garlands from perfect beings (Siddhas), celestial musicians (Gandharvas), and Mandāra flowers, and having emerged from the moon's orb, sported in the pleasant breeze.
सस्नतुर्भूरिघर्मान्ते तडिद्रक्ताब्जसंकुले ।
सरसीव जलापूरमन्थरे मेघमण्डले ॥ ६ ॥
sasnaturbhūrigharmānte taḍidraktābjasaṃkule ,
sarasīva jalāpūramanthare meghamaṇḍale 6

6. They both bathed at the close of intense summer heat, within a mass of clouds that was swollen with an abundance of water and crowded with lotuses as red as lightning, just like in a lake.
भूतलौघमहाशैलमृणालाङ्कुरकोटिषु ।
दिक्षु बभ्रमतुः स्वैरं भ्रमर्यौ सरसीष्विव ॥ ७ ॥
bhūtalaughamahāśailamṛṇālāṅkurakoṭiṣu ,
dikṣu babhramatuḥ svairaṃ bhramaryau sarasīṣviva 7

7. Like two female bees, they roamed freely in all directions across countless realms, vast mountains, and nascent sprouts of creation, just as bees wander among ponds.
धारागृहधिया धीरगङ्गानिर्झरधारिणि ।
भ्रेमतुर्वातविक्षुब्धमेघमण्डलमण्डपे ॥ ८ ॥
dhārāgṛhadhiyā dhīragaṅgānirjharadhāriṇi ,
bhrematurvātavikṣubdhameghamaṇḍalamaṇḍape 8

8. They wandered, mistaking a pavilion (or expanse) of cloud masses, agitated by the wind and containing steady streams like those of the Ganga, for a shower house.
ततो मधुरगामिन्यौ विश्राम्यन्त्यौ स्वशक्तितः ।
शून्ये ददृशतुर्व्योम महारम्भातिमन्थरम् ॥ ९ ॥

9. Then, the two, gracefully proceeding and resting according to their capacity (śakti), saw in the emptiness a vast expanse of space, exceedingly slow in its grand formation.
अदृष्टपूर्वमन्योन्यं सर्वसंकटकोटरम् ।
अपूर्यमाणमाशून्यं जगत्कोटिशतैरपि ॥ १० ॥
adṛṣṭapūrvamanyonyaṃ sarvasaṃkaṭakoṭaram ,
apūryamāṇamāśūnyaṃ jagatkoṭiśatairapi 10
10. adṛṣṭapūrvam anyonyam sarvasaṅkaṭakoṭaram
apūryamāṇam āśūnyam jagatkoṭiśataiḥ api

10. (They saw a space that was) never before seen by anyone, a hollow (koṭara) of all distress, which remained utterly empty and could not be filled even by hundreds of millions of worlds.
उपर्युपर्युपर्युच्चैरन्यैरन्यैर्वृतं पृथक् ।
विचित्राभरणाकारैर्भूतलैः सुविमानकैः ॥ ११ ॥

vicitrābharaṇākārairbhūtalaiḥ suvimānakaiḥ 11

11. Layer upon layer, very high above, it is separately encircled by various ground-levels, which appear like diverse ornaments and are equipped with magnificent aerial chariots (vimānas).
परितः पूरितव्योम्नां मेर्वादिकुलभूभृताम् ।
पद्मरागतटोद्द्योतैः कल्पज्वालोपमोदरम् ॥ १२ ॥
paritaḥ pūritavyomnāṃ mervādikulabhūbhṛtām ,
padmarāgataṭoddyotaiḥ kalpajvālopamodaram 12

12. All around it are the Meru and other principal mountains, filling the sky. (The central entity) has an interior resembling the destructive flames of the cosmic dissolution (kalpa), and it shines with the radiance from ruby-red slopes.
मुक्ताशिखरभापूरैर्हिमवत्सानुसुन्दरम् ।
काञ्चनाद्रिस्थलार्चिर्भिः काञ्चनस्थलभासुरम् ॥ १३ ॥

13. (It is) beautiful like the slopes of the Himalayas, with abundant radiance from its pearl-like peaks. (It is also) resplendent like golden regions, with glows emanating from its golden mountain-sides.
महामरकताभाभिः शाद्वलस्थलनीलिमम् ।
द्रष्टृदृश्यक्षयासक्तजातध्वान्तोत्थकालिमम् ॥ १४ ॥
mahāmarakatābhābhiḥ śādvalasthalanīlimam ,
draṣṭṛdṛśyakṣayāsaktajātadhvāntotthakālimam 14

14. (It appears) with magnificent emerald-like splendors, possessing a bluish hue in its grassy regions. And it manifests a profound blackness that arises from the darkness produced by the mind's attachment to the cessation of the seer-seen duality.
पारिजातलतालोलविमानगणकेतनम् ।
अतो मञ्जरिकाकारमिव वैदूर्यभूतलम् ॥ १५ ॥
pārijātalatālolavimānagaṇaketanam ,
ato mañjarikākāramiva vaidūryabhūtalam 15
15. pārijātalatālola-vimānagaṇaketanam ataḥ
mañjarikākāram iva vaidūryabhūtalam

15. Its distinguishing feature is a multitude of aerial chariots swaying among pārijāta creepers. Then, its lapis lazuli ground appears like a cluster of blossoms.
मनोवेगमहासिद्धजितवातगमागमम् ।
विमानगृहदेवस्त्रीगेयवाद्यसघुंघुमम् ॥ १६ ॥
manovegamahāsiddhajitavātagamāgamam ,
vimānagṛhadevastrīgeyavādyasaghuṃghumam 16

16. It is a place where the movements of the wind are surpassed by great perfected beings (siddhas) who possess the speed of thought, and which resounds with songs and instrumental music performed by celestial women in their aerial mansions, accompanied by jingling sounds.
त्रैलोक्यवरभूतौघसंचाराविरलान्तरम् ।
अन्योन्यादृष्टसंचारसुरासुरकुलाकुलम् ॥ १७ ॥
trailokyavarabhūtaughasaṃcārāviralāntaram ,
anyonyādṛṣṭasaṃcārasurāsurakulākulam 17

17. Its spaces are densely filled by the movements of the most excellent hosts of beings from the three worlds, and it is crowded with multitudes of gods and demons who move without perceiving each other.
पर्यन्तस्थितकूष्माण्डरक्षःपैशाचमण्डलम् ।
वातस्कन्धमहावेगवहद्वैमानिकव्रजम् ॥ १८ ॥
paryantasthitakūṣmāṇḍarakṣaḥpaiśācamaṇḍalam ,
vātaskandhamahāvegavahadvaimānikavrajam 18

18. At its borders are situated multitudes of kūṣmāṇḍa, rākṣasa, and piśāca demons, and it contains throngs of aerial chariots (or their occupants) moving with the immense speed of a powerful gale.
वहद्विमानसीत्कारमुष्टिग्राह्यघनध्वनि ।
ग्रहर्क्षघनसंचारात्प्रचलद्वातयन्त्रकम् ॥ १९ ॥

graharkṣaghanasaṃcārātpracaladvātayantrakam 19

19. A place filled with the loud, palpable sound of whizzing, moving celestial vehicles (vimāna); and containing wind-machines (vāta-yantraka) set in motion by the constant movement of planets (graha) and constellations (ṛkṣa).
निकटातपदग्धाल्पसिद्धसिद्धोज्झितास्पदम् ।
अर्काश्वमुखवातास्तदग्धमुग्धविमानकम् ॥ २० ॥
nikaṭātapadagdhālpasiddhasiddhojjhitāspadam ,
arkāśvamukhavātāstadagdhamugdhavimānakam 20
20. nikaṭātapadagdhālpasiddhasiddhojjhitāspadam
arkāśvamukhavātaḥ tadagdhamugdhavimānaka
20. nikaṭātapadagdhālpasiddhasiddhojjhitāspadam

20. An abode abandoned by a few perfected beings (siddha) who were scorched by the nearby heat; and charming small celestial vehicles (vimānaka) that were burnt by the winds emanating from the mouths of the sun's horses (arkāśva).
लोकपालाप्सरोवृन्दसंचाराचारचञ्चलम ।
देव्यन्तःपुरिकादग्धधूपधूमाम्बुदाम्बरम् ॥ २१ ॥
lokapālāpsarovṛndasaṃcārācāracañcalama ,
devyantaḥpurikādagdhadhūpadhūmāmbudāmbaram 21

21. A place restless and agitated due to the movements and customary conduct of hosts of guardians of the quarters (lokapāla) and celestial nymphs (apsaras); its sky filled with clouds of smoke from the burnt incense offered by the female attendants of the goddesses' (devī) inner apartments.
स्वस्वर्गाहूतदेवस्त्रीस्वाङ्गविभ्रष्टभूषणम् ।
सामान्यसिद्धसङ्घोग्रतेजःपुञ्जतमोबलम् ॥ २२ ॥
svasvargāhūtadevastrīsvāṅgavibhraṣṭabhūṣaṇam ,
sāmānyasiddhasaṅghogratejaḥpuñjatamobalam 22
22. svasvargāhūtadevastrīsvāṅgavibhraṣṭabhūṣaṇam
sāmānyasiddhasaṅghogratejaḥpuñjatamo-balam

22. A place possessing ornaments (bhūṣaṇa) dislodged from the bodies (svāṅga) of divine women (deva-strī) who were invited to their own celestial abodes (svarga); and its power of darkness (tamo-bala) is such that it rivals the fierce mass of energy (tejas-puñja) of even common multitudes of perfected beings (siddha).
वलवत्सिद्धसंघट्टगमागमविघट्टितैः ।
घनैः सांशुकपार्श्वस्थहिमवन्मेरुमन्दरम् ॥ २३ ॥
valavatsiddhasaṃghaṭṭagamāgamavighaṭṭitaiḥ ,
ghanaiḥ sāṃśukapārśvasthahimavanmerumandaram 23
23. valavat siddha-saṅghaṭṭa-gamāgama-vighaṭṭitaiḥ
ghanaiḥ sāṃśuka-pārśvastha-himavan-meru-mandaram
23. valavat siddha-saṅghaṭṭa-gamāgama-vighaṭṭitaiḥ
ghanaiḥ sāṃśuka-pārśvastha-himavan-meru-mandaram
23. [It was a place] disturbed by the powerful impacts of the coming and going of hosts of perfected beings (siddhas), with dense clouds on its flanks appearing like garments, resembling the mountains Himavan, Meru, and Mandara.
काकोलूकैर्गृध्रभासै राशिभूतैश्चलैर्वृतम् ।
नृत्यद्भिर्डाकिनीसङ्घैस्तरङ्गैरिव वारिधिम् ॥ २४ ॥
kākolūkairgṛdhrabhāsai rāśibhūtaiścalairvṛtam ,
nṛtyadbhirḍākinīsaṅghaistaraṅgairiva vāridhim 24
24. kāka-ulūkaiḥ gṛdhra-bhāsaiḥ rāśibhūtaiḥ calaiḥ vṛtam
nṛtyadbhiḥ ḍākinī-saṅghaiḥ taraṅgaiḥ iva vāridhim
24. calaiḥ rāśibhūtaiḥ kāka-ulūkaiḥ gṛdhra-bhāsaiḥ
nṛtyadbhiḥ ḍākinī-saṅghaiḥ taraṅgaiḥ iva vāridhim vṛtam
24. [It was] surrounded by restless throngs of crows, owls, vultures, and other predatory birds, and by dancing hosts of ḍākinīs, like an ocean by its waves.
प्रवृत्तैर्योगिनीसङ्घैः श्वकाकोष्ट्रखराननैः ।
निरर्थं योजनशतं गत्वागच्छद्भिरावृतम् ॥ २५ ॥
pravṛttairyoginīsaṅghaiḥ śvakākoṣṭrakharānanaiḥ ,
nirarthaṃ yojanaśataṃ gatvāgacchadbhirāvṛtam 25
25. pravṛttaiḥ yoginī-saṅghaiḥ śva-kāka-uṣṭra-khara-ānanaiḥ
nirartham yojana-śatam gatvā-āgacchadbhiḥ āvṛtam
25. śva-kāka-uṣṭra-khara-ānanaiḥ nirartham yojana-śatam
gatvā-āgacchadbhiḥ pravṛttaiḥ yoginī-saṅghaiḥ āvṛtam
25. [It was] surrounded by active hosts of yoginīs, some having the faces of dogs, crows, camels, and donkeys, who fruitlessly traveled and returned a hundred yojanas.
लोकपालपुरोध्वान्तधूमधूम्रेऽभ्रमन्दिरे ।
सिद्धगन्धर्वमिथुनप्रारब्धसुरतोत्सवम् ॥ २६ ॥
lokapālapurodhvāntadhūmadhūmre'bhramandire ,
siddhagandharvamithunaprārabdhasuratotsavam 26
26. lokapāla-pura-udhvānta-dhūma-dhūmre abramandire

26. In that cloud-palace, dark and smoky like the rising darkness and smoke from the cities of the world-guardians (lokapālas), a festival of lovemaking was initiated by pairs of perfected beings (siddhas) and gandharvas.
स्वर्गगीतस्तवोन्मत्तमदनाक्रान्तमार्गगम् ।
अनारतवहद्धिष्ण्यचक्रलक्षितपक्षकम् ॥ २७ ॥
svargagītastavonmattamadanākrāntamārgagam ,
anāratavahaddhiṣṇyacakralakṣitapakṣakam 27

27. One whose path is traversed by Cupid (madana), intoxicated and overwhelmed by the songs of praise from heaven; and whose sides are marked by the continuously moving celestial spheres.
वातस्कन्धनिखातोन्तर्वहत्त्रिपथगाजलम् ।
आश्चर्यालोकनव्यग्रसंचरत्त्रिदशार्भकम् ॥ २८ ॥

28. One whose inner flowing water of the celestial river (tripaṭhagā) is embedded within a column of wind; and where young deities (tridaśārbhaka) wander about, engrossed in the wondrous sights.
सदेहसंचरद्वज्रचक्रशूलासिशक्तिमत् ।
क्वचिन्निर्भित्ति भवनं गायन्नारदतुम्बुरु ॥ २९ ॥
sadehasaṃcaradvajracakraśūlāsiśaktimat ,
kvacinnirbhitti bhavanaṃ gāyannāradatumburu 29
29. sadehasañcaradvajracakraśūlāsiśaktimat kvacit
nirbhitti bhavanam gāyan nāradatumburu

29. Possessing embodied and moving "vajra" (thunderbolt), "cakra" (discus), "śūla" (trident), "asi" (sword), and "śakti" (spear); an abode (bhavanam) that is sometimes wall-less, while Nārada (nārada) sings alongside Tumburu (tumburu).

30. Sometimes, it (the abode) is agitated by the great commotion of massive clouds in the sky; and it possesses silent clouds of the cosmic dissolution (kalpānta) which resemble those depicted in a painting.

31. In some places, there are clouds (ambhodhara) as beautiful as rising, majestic mountains (adri) of collyrium (kajjala). In other places, there are clouds (vāridam) lovely and shining like unmoving gold, marking the end of the summer heat.
क्वचिद्दिग्दाहतापाढ्यमृष्यमूकाम्बुदांशुकम् ।
क्वचिन्निष्पवनाम्भोधिसंरम्भं शून्यताजलम् ॥ ३२ ॥

32. In some places, there are clouds like a light mist of Ṛṣyamūka mountain's clouds, filled with the scorching heat (tāpa) of the horizon's conflagration (digdāha). In other places, there is water of emptiness (śūnyatā), resembling the turmoil of a windless ocean (ambhodhi).

33. In some places, there are sprouts (pallava) of grass (tṛṇa) and powerful aerial cars (vimāna) flowing in a river of wind (vātanadī). In other places, it is pure and spotless like the shimmering backs (pṛṣṭha) of swarms of moving bees (ali).

34. In some places, it is gray (vidhūsaram) and dusty from the wind-blown dust (vāta-dhūli) that resembles a river of Mount Meru (nadī). In other places, its form (aṅgakam) is variegated and powerful (citra-bala), shining with the splendor (prabhā) of celestial beings (gīrvāṇa) in their aerial cars (vimāna).

35. In some places, it is adorned by circles of sky-clad Matrikas dancing intensely. In other places, it is perpetually filled with throngs of newly intoxicated and agitated Yoginis.

36. Elsewhere, it is adorned with tranquil sages (muni) who are abiding in peaceful meditative absorption (samādhi) and are fully at rest. And it is equally captivating to the minds (citta) of the virtuous, who have renounced all agitation.
गायत्किन्नरगन्धर्वसुरस्त्रीमण्डलं क्वचित् ।
क्वचित्स्तब्धपुराकीर्णं वहत्पुरवरं क्वचित् ॥ ३७ ॥

37. Elsewhere, it is filled with circles of singing Kinnaras, Gandharvas, and celestial women. In some parts, it is crowded with stationary cities, while in others, excellent cities are in motion.

38. In some places, it is completely filled with cities of Rudra, while in others, there are great cities of Brahma. Elsewhere, it contains cities created by illusion (māyā), and in yet other places, cities yet to come.

क्वचित्सरत्सिद्धगणं क्वचिदिन्दुकृतोदयम् ॥ ३९ ॥

39. Somewhere, there are lakes with wandering moons; somewhere, there are lakes of perfect stillness. Somewhere, hosts of perfected beings (siddhas) are moving; somewhere, the moon causes its rising.

क्वचित्संध्यांशुकपिलं क्वचिन्नीहारधूसरम् ॥ ४० ॥

40. Somewhere, it consists of sunrise; somewhere, it consists of night's darkness. Somewhere, it is reddish-brown like twilight's rays; somewhere, it is gray like mist.

क्वचित्स्थल इवाकाश एव विश्रान्तलोकपम् ॥ ४१ ॥

41. Somewhere, it is white as snow-clouds; somewhere, rain-bearing clouds are showering. Somewhere, the guardians of the world (lokapas) rest in the sky as if on land.
ऊर्ध्वाधोगमनव्यग्रसुरासुरगणं क्वचित् ।
पूर्वापरोत्तरायाम्यदिक्संचाराकुलं क्वचित् ॥ ४२ ॥

42. Somewhere, there are hosts of gods and demons (suras and asuras) busy moving up and down. Somewhere, it is crowded with movement in the eastern, western, northern, and southern directions.
अपि योजनलक्षाणि क्वचिद्दुष्प्रापभूधरम् ।
अविनाशितमःपूर्णं दृषद्गर्भोपमं क्वचित् ॥ ४३ ॥
api yojanalakṣāṇi kvacidduṣprāpabhūdharam ,
avināśitamaḥpūrṇaṃ dṛṣadgarbhopamaṃ kvacit 43

43. And also, extending for millions of yojanas, it is sometimes characterized by mountains difficult to access. In other places, it is filled with imperishable darkness, resembling the core of a rock.
अविनाशिबृहत्तेजः क्वचिदर्कानलोपमम् ।
हिमानीजठराशीतं क्वचिच्चन्द्रादिसद्मसु ॥ ४४ ॥

44. Elsewhere, there is imperishable, immense radiance, comparable to the sun and fire. And sometimes, in the abodes of the moon and similar celestial bodies, it is intensely cold, like the heart of a glacier.
क्वचिद्वहत्पुरोवृत्तकल्पवृक्षलतावनम् ।
क्वचिद्दैत्यहतोत्तुङ्गप्रपतद्देवपत्तनम् ॥ ४५ ॥

45. In some places, there are ancient forests of wish-fulfilling trees and vines through which streams flow. In others, there are lofty cities of the gods, struck down by demons and collapsing.
वैमानिकनिपातेन वहिलेखाङ्कितं क्वचित् ।
क्वचित्केतुशतोत्पातमिथःसंघट्टपट्टितम् ॥ ४६ ॥

46. Elsewhere, it is marked by streaks of fire from the crashing of aerial vehicles. And sometimes, it is shattered by the mutual collision of hundreds of comet-like phenomena.
क्वचिच्छुभग्रहगणप्रगृहीताग्र्यमण्डलम् ।
क्वचिद्रात्रितमोव्याप्तं क्वचिद्दिवसभास्वरम् ॥ ४७ ॥

47. At times, its chief disc is graced by a host of auspicious planets. At other times, it is enveloped in the darkness of night. And sometimes, it shines brilliantly like the day.

48. At times, it has thundering clouds. At other times, it possesses silent, clear clouds. And sometimes, it is covered with white cloud fragments, scattered like flowers by the wind.

शून्यतावारिवलितं क्षेत्रमाकाशवासिनाम् ॥ ५० ॥

50. Sometimes, it resonates with the croaking sounds made by multitudes of frogs, which are the vehicles for Shukra. This is the field (kṣetra) of the sky-dwellers (ākāśavāsin), enveloped by the waters of emptiness (śūnyatā).
मयूरहेमचूडादिपक्षिभिः क्वचिदावृतम् ।
विद्याधरीणां देवीनां वाहनैर्विहितास्पदैः ॥ ५१ ॥

51. At times, it is covered by peacocks, golden-crested and other such birds. It is also covered by the vehicles of the Vidyādharīs and goddesses, which have established their abodes there.

क्वचिदग्निशुकैः श्यामं शाद्वलानामिव स्थलम् ॥ ५२ ॥

52. In some places, Kartikeya's peacock formations dance high within the clouds. In other places, the ground appears dark, like a verdant pasture, due to fire-colored parrots.

क्वचिदश्वैस्तृणग्रामशङ्काग्रस्तासिताम्बुदम् ॥ ५३ ॥

53. In some places, clouds are dwarfed by the majestic buffalo of Yama, the lord of the dead (preteśa). In other places, black clouds are 'eaten' by horses, who mistake them for bundles of grass.

54. In some places, it is pervaded by cities of gods, and in other places, it is accompanied by cities of demons. It has cities that cannot reach each other, and it experiences winds that create holes in cities.

क्वचित्सपक्षशैलेन्द्रसमनृत्यद्विनायकम् ॥ ५५ ॥

55. In some places, it is brilliant with dancing Bhairavas resembling the great mythical family mountains. In other places, it contains Vinayakas (Ganeshas) dancing together with the mighty winged mountains.

56. Sometimes, it features mountains that are lifted and soar by the force of roaring gusts of wind; and sometimes, it is enchanting with throngs of celestial women (surastrī) in cities of the Gandharvas.

59. Sometimes, it is utterly silent due to extremely calm winds; and sometimes, it features the rising of hundreds of cloud-peaks resembling mountains.

60. At times, it was marked by the rumbling roar of frenzied, dense clouds born of the rainy season. At other times, it was made impassable by the fierce battle between hosts of gods and demons.

61. At times, it was characterized by Brahmā (abjavāhanam) being summoned by the cries of female swans from the celestial lotus-ponds. At other times, by winds that scattered the lotus plants on the banks of the Mandākinī (celestial Ganga).
स्वशरीरेण गङ्गादिसरितां सन्निधानतः ।
प्रोड्डीनमत्स्यमकरकुलीराम्बुजकूर्मकम् ॥ ६२ ॥

62. By virtue of the presence of Ganga and other rivers within its own body, it was replete with leaping fish, crocodiles, and crabs, along with lotuses and turtles.
पातालगार्कजनितभूच्छायाकाकचोपनैः ।
क्वचित्क्वचिन्मण्डलेषु ग्रस्तचन्द्रार्कमण्डलम् ॥ ६३ ॥

63. Sometimes, in various spheres, the discs of the moon and sun were eclipsed by the earth's shadows and other darknesses (kākacopa) generated by a subterranean sun (pātālagārka).
क्वचित्सर्गानिलाधूतमायाकुसुमकाननम् ।
पतत्पुष्पहिमासारत्रसद्वैमानिकाङ्गनम् ॥ ६४ ॥

64. Somewhere, there is a forest of illusory (māyā) flowers, shaken by the cosmic wind of creation. It is a place where celestial women tremble, startled by showers of falling flowers resembling snow.
उदुम्बरोदरमशकक्रमभ्रमज्जगत्त्रयान्तरगतभूतसंचयम् ।
विलङ्घ्य तद्वरललने खमुच्चकैर्महीतलं पुनरपि गन्तुमुद्यते ॥ ६५ ॥

vilaṅghya tadvaralalane khamuccakairmahītalaṃ punarapi gantumudyate 65

65. O excellent ladies, having transcended that entire aggregation of beings (bhūta-saṃcaya) - which wanders within the three worlds like mosquitoes inside an udumbara fruit - you are prepared to go high into the sky and also once again to the surface of the earth.
