श्रीराम उवाच ।
अहो नु विततोदारा विमला विपुलाचला ।
भवता भगवन्भूत्यै भूयो दृष्टिरुदाहृता ॥ १ ॥
śrīrāma uvāca ,
aho nu vitatodārā vimalā vipulācalā ,
bhavatā bhagavanbhūtyai bhūyo dṛṣṭirudāhṛtā 1
1. śrīrāmaḥ uvāca aho nu vitata udārā vimalā vipulā
acalā bhavatā bhagavan bhūtyai bhūyaḥ dṛṣṭiḥ udāhṛtā
1. śrīrāmaḥ uvāca.
aho bhagavan! nu bhavatā bhūtyai bhūyaḥ vitata udārā vimalā vipulā acalā dṛṣṭiḥ udāhṛtā.
1. Śrī Rāma said: 'Oh, Lord, the vision you have presented again for our welfare (bhūti) is indeed far-reaching, generous, pure, vast, and unwavering.'
सर्वथा सर्वदा सर्वं सर्वं सर्वत्र सर्वदा ।
सदित्येव स्थितं सत्यं समं समनुभूतितः ॥ २ ॥
sarvathā sarvadā sarvaṃ sarvaṃ sarvatra sarvadā ,
sadityeva sthitaṃ satyaṃ samaṃ samanubhūtitaḥ 2
2. sarvathā sarvadā sarvam sarvam sarvatra sarvadā
sat iti eva sthitam satyam samam samanubhūtitaḥ
2. sarvathā sarvadā sarvam sarvatra sarvadā sarvam sat iti eva samam satyam sthitam samanubhūtitaḥ.
2. In every way, always, everything is truly existing (sat). Everything, everywhere, always, is established as truth (satya), equal, through uniform experience.
अयमस्ति मम ब्रह्मन्संशयस्तं निवारय ।
किमिदं भगवन्नाम पाषाणाख्यानमुच्यते ॥ ३ ॥
ayamasti mama brahmansaṃśayastaṃ nivāraya ,
kimidaṃ bhagavannāma pāṣāṇākhyānamucyate 3
3. ayam asti mama brahman saṃśayaḥ tam nivāraya
kim idam bhagavan nāma pāṣāṇa ākhyānam ucyate
3. brahman ayam mama saṃśayaḥ asti tam nivāraya
bhagavan idam pāṣāṇa ākhyānam nāma kim ucyate
3. O Brahmin, this is my doubt; please remove it. What is this 'Story of the Stone' (pāṣāṇākhyāna) being referred to, O Lord?
श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
सर्वत्र सर्वदा सर्वमस्तीति प्रतिपादने ।
पाषाणाख्यानदृष्टान्तो मयायं तव कथ्यते ॥ ४ ॥
śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca ,
sarvatra sarvadā sarvamastīti pratipādane ,
pāṣāṇākhyānadṛṣṭānto mayāyaṃ tava kathyate 4
4. śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca sarvatra sarvadā sarvam asti iti
pratipādane pāṣāṇa ākhyāna dṛṣṭāntaḥ mayā ayam tava kathyate
4. śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca sarvatra sarvadā sarvam asti iti
pratipādane ayam pāṣāṇa ākhyāna dṛṣṭāntaḥ mayā tava kathyate
4. Śrī Vasiṣṭha said: This illustration (dṛṣṭānta) of the 'Story of the Stone' (pāṣāṇākhyāna) is being recounted by me to you in order to demonstrate that everything exists everywhere and always.
नीरन्ध्रैकघनाङ्गस्य पाषाणस्यापि कोटरे ।
सन्ति सर्गसहस्राणि कथयेति प्रदर्श्यते ॥ ५ ॥
nīrandhraikaghanāṅgasya pāṣāṇasyāpi koṭare ,
santi sargasahasrāṇi kathayeti pradarśyate 5
5. nīrandhra eka ghana aṅgasya pāṣāṇasya api koṭare
santi sarga sahasrāṇi katha iti pradarśyate
5. nīrandhra eka ghana aṅgasya pāṣāṇasya api koṭare
sarga sahasrāṇi santi katha iti pradarśyate
5. Even in the core (koṭara) of a stone (pāṣāṇa) whose single, dense form has no gaps, thousands of creations (sarga) exist. This is demonstrated to explain 'how'.
भूताकाशे महत्यस्मिन्खशून्यत्वमनुज्झति ।
सन्ति सर्गसहस्राणि कथयेति प्रदर्श्यते ॥ ६ ॥
bhūtākāśe mahatyasminkhaśūnyatvamanujjhati ,
santi sargasahasrāṇi kathayeti pradarśyate 6
6. bhūta ākāśe mahati asmin kha śūnyatvam anujjhati
santi sarga sahasrāṇi katha iti pradarśyate
6. mahati asmin bhūta ākāśe kha śūnyatvam anujjhati
sarga sahasrāṇi santi katha iti pradarśyate
6. In this great elemental space (bhūtākāśa), which does not relinquish its inherent nature of being empty space, thousands of creations (sarga) exist. This is demonstrated to explain 'how'.
अन्तर्गुल्माङ्कुरादीनां प्राणिवाय्वम्बुतेजसाम् ।
सन्ति सर्गसहस्राणि कथयेति प्रदर्श्यते ॥ ७ ॥
antargulmāṅkurādīnāṃ prāṇivāyvambutejasām ,
santi sargasahasrāṇi kathayeti pradarśyate 7
7. antar gulmāṅkurādīnām prāṇivāyvambutejasām
santi sargasahasrāṇi kathayā iti pradarśyate
7. gulmāṅkurādīnām prāṇivāyvambutejasām antaḥ sargasahasrāṇi santi.
kathayā iti pradarśyate.
7. Within shrubs, sprouts, and similar entities, as well as within living beings, air, water, and fire, thousands of creations (sarga) exist. This is thus declared and revealed.
