मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-8, verse-89

विश्वामित्र उवाच ।
चण्डालोऽयमनल्पं ते दातुं वित्तमुपस्थितः ।
कस्मान्न दीयते मह्यमशेषा यज्ञदक्षिणा ॥८९॥
89. viśvāmitra uvāca .
caṇḍālo'yamanalpaṃ te dātuṃ vittamupasthitaḥ .
kasmānna dīyate mahyamaśeṣā yajñadakṣiṇā.
89. viśvāmitra uvāca caṇḍālaḥ ayam analpam te dātum vittam
upasthitaḥ kasmāt na dīyate mahyam aśeṣā yajñadakṣiṇā
89. viśvāmitra uvāca.
ayam caṇḍālaḥ analpam vittam te dātum upasthitaḥ.
kasmāt aśeṣā yajñadakṣiṇā mahyam na dīyate?
89. Viśvāmitra said: "This Caṇḍāla (outcaste) is ready to give you a substantial amount of wealth. Why, then, is the entire remuneration (yajña-dakṣiṇā) for the Vedic ritual not given to me?"
