मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-8, verse-56

एवमुक्तस्य विप्रेण हरिश्चन्द्रस्य भूपतेः ।
व्यदीर्यत मनो दुः खान्न चैनं किञ्चिदब्रवीत् ॥५६॥
56. evamuktasya vipreṇa hariścandrasya bhūpateḥ .
vyadīryata mano duḥ khānna cainaṃ kiñcidabravīt.
56. evam uktasya vipreṇa hariścandraśya bhūpateḥ |
vyadīryata manaḥ duḥkhāt na ca enam kiñcit abravīt
56. When King Hariścandra was thus addressed by the Brahmin, his heart was torn apart by sorrow, and he said nothing to him.
