मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-8, verse-229

पक्षिण ऊचुः ।
ततः कृत्वा चितां राजा आरोप्य तनयं स्वकम् ।
भार्यया सहितश्चासौ बद्धाञ्जलिपुटस्तदा ॥२२९॥
229. pakṣiṇa ūcuḥ .
tataḥ kṛtvā citāṃ rājā āropya tanayaṃ svakam .
bhāryayā sahitaścāsau baddhāñjalipuṭastadā.
229. pakṣiṇaḥ ūcuḥ | tataḥ kṛtvā citām rājā āropya tanayam
svakam | bhāryayā sahitaḥ ca asau baddhāñjalipuṭaḥ tadā
229. The birds said: Then, the king, having prepared the pyre and placed his own son upon it, along with his wife, stood there with folded hands at that time.
