मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-8, verse-169

शवानां मूल्यकरणे पुनर्नष्टस्मृतिर्यथा ।
मलिनो जटिलः कृष्णो लकुटी विह्वलो नृपः ॥१६९॥
169. śavānāṃ mūlyakaraṇe punarnaṣṭasmṛtiryathā .
malino jaṭilaḥ kṛṣṇo lakuṭī vihvalo nṛpaḥ.
169. śavānām mūlyakaraṇe punaḥ naṣṭasmṛtiḥ yathā
malinaḥ jaṭilaḥ kṛṣṇaḥ lakuṭī vihvalaḥ nṛpaḥ
169. In assigning prices to corpses, his memory (smṛti) was as if lost again. The king was dirty, with matted hair, dark-skinned, holding a staff, and distressed.
