मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-8, verse-26

महद्दुः खमिदं भद्रे यत् त्वमेवं ब्रवीषि माम् ।
किं तव स्मितसंलापा मम पापस्य विस्मृताः ॥२६॥
26. mahadduḥ khamidaṃ bhadre yat tvamevaṃ bravīṣi mām .
kiṃ tava smitasaṃlāpā mama pāpasya vismṛtāḥ.
26. mahat duḥkham idam bhadre yat tvam evam bravīṣi
mām kim tava smitasaṃlāpāḥ mama pāpasya vismṛtāḥ
26. O good lady, this is a great sorrow, that you speak to me in this manner. Have your smiling conversations with me been forgotten due to my sin (pāpa)?
