मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-8, verse-14

किमु प्राणान् विमुञ्चामि कां दिशं याम्यकिञ्चनः ।
यदि नाशं गमिष्यामि अप्रदाय प्रतिश्रुतम् ॥१४॥
14. kimu prāṇān vimuñcāmi kāṃ diśaṃ yāmyakiñcanaḥ .
yadi nāśaṃ gamiṣyāmi apradāya pratiśrutam.
14. kim u prāṇān vimuñcāmi kām diśam yāmi akiñcanaḥ
yadi nāśam gamiṣyāmi apradāya pratiśrutam
14. "Should I give up my life? Being destitute, in which direction should I go? If I am to meet destruction without giving what was promised..."
