गृह्यतां वित्तमेतत् ते दीयतां बालको मम ।
स्त्रीपुंसोर्धर्मशास्त्रज्ञैः कृतमेव हि वेतनम् ।
शतं सहस्रं लक्षं च कोटिमूल्यं तथा परैः ॥६५॥

65.
The Brahmin said: Take this wealth, and give me the boy. Indeed, the payment for a man and a woman has been fixed by experts in sacred law (dharmaśāstra). Their value is stated by others (paraiḥ) to be one hundred, one thousand, one hundred thousand, and even a crore.
