मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-9, verse-99

एतत तु न परे चक्रुर्नापरे जातु साधवः ।
यदन्यस्य प्रतिज्ञाय पुनरन्यस्य दीयते ॥९९॥
99. etat tu na pare cakrurnāpare jātu sādhavaḥ ,
yadanyasya pratijñāya punaranyasya dīyate.

99. But neither have others done this, nor have virtuous people ever done it: that which has been promised to one person is then given to another.
