मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-9, verse-21

ध्यायत्यनिष्टं यत किं चित पाणिग्राहस्य चेतसा ।
तस्यैष व्यभिचारस्य निह्नवः सम्यगुच्यते ॥२१॥
21. dhyāyatyaniṣṭaṁ yat kiṁ cit pāṇigrāhasya cetasā ,
tasyaiṣa vyabhicārasya nihnavaḥ samyagucyate.
21. dhyāyati aniṣṭam yat kim cit pāṇi-grāhasya cetasā
tasya eṣaḥ vyabhicārasya nihnavaḥ samyak ucyate
21. yat kim cit aniṣṭam pāṇi-grāhasya cetasā dhyāyati
eṣaḥ tasya vyabhicārasya nihnavaḥ samyak ucyate
21. Whatever undesirable thing she contemplates in her mind concerning her husband, this [mantra/rite] is declared to be the proper expiation for that transgression (vyabhicāra).
