महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-2, verse-96

सप्त श्लोकसहस्राणि तथा नव शतानि च ।
श्लोकाश्च चतुराशीतिर्दृष्टो ग्रन्थो महात्मना ॥९६॥
96. sapta ślokasahasrāṇi tathā nava śatāni ca ,
ślokāśca caturāśītirdṛṣṭo grantho mahātmanā.

96. Thus, seven thousand, nine hundred, and eighty-four verses—this text was observed by the great soul (Vyāsa).
