सूत उवाच ।
शुश्रूषा यदि वो विप्रा ब्रुवतश्च कथाः शुभाः ।
समन्तपञ्चकाख्यं च श्रोतुमर्हथ सत्तमाः ॥२॥

śuśrūṣā yadi vo viprā bruvataśca kathāḥ śubhāḥ ,
samantapañcakākhyaṁ ca śrotumarhatha sattamāḥ.

Sūta said: 'O learned ones, if you desire to listen to the auspicious stories that I am narrating, then, O best among men, you should certainly hear the account known as Samantapañcaka.'
