महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-2, verse-95

इत्येतदादिपर्वोक्तं प्रथमं बहुविस्तरम् ।
अध्यायानां शते द्वे तु संख्याते परमर्षिणा ।
अष्टादशैव चाध्याया व्यासेनोत्तमतेजसा ॥९५॥
95. ityetadādiparvoktaṁ prathamaṁ bahuvistaram ,
adhyāyānāṁ śate dve tu saṁkhyāte paramarṣiṇā ,
aṣṭādaśaiva cādhyāyā vyāsenottamatejasā.
95. iti etat ādiparvoktam prathamam
bahuvistaram adhyāyānām śate dve tu
saṃkhyāte paramarṣiṇā aṣṭādaśa
eva ca adhyāyā vyāsena uttamatejasā
95. Thus, this first book, the Ādiparva, is described as very extensive. Two hundred chapters were enumerated by the supreme sage, and only eighteen chapters by Vyāsa of excellent splendor.
