मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-11, verse-55

अनृतं च समुत्कर्षे राजगामि च पैशुनम ।
गुरोश्चालीकनिर्बन्धः समानि ब्रह्महत्यया ॥५५॥
55. anṛtaṁ ca samutkarṣe rājagāmi ca paiśunam ,
guroścālīkanirbandhaḥ samāni brahmahatyayā.

55. Untruth spoken for self-aggrandizement, malicious gossip (paiśunam) carried to the king, and a false accusation against one's preceptor (guru) are considered equivalent to the killing of a brahmin (brahmahatyā).
