मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-11, verse-125

सङ्करापात्रकृत्यासु मासं शोधनमैन्दवम ।
मलिनीकरणीयेषु तप्तः स्याद यावकैस्त्र्यहम ॥१२५॥
125. saṅkarāpātrakṛtyāsu māsaṁ śodhanamaindavam ,
malinīkaraṇīyeṣu taptaḥ syād yāvakaistryaham.

125. For actions that lead to a confusion of castes (saṅkara) or make one unworthy (apātra), the purification is a month-long Cāndrāyaṇa (aindava). For actions that merely cause defilement, one should perform the penance by consuming heated barley gruel (yāvaka) for three days.
