मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-11, verse-233

यस्मिन कर्मण्यस्य कृते मनसः स्यादलाघवम ।
तस्मिंस्तावत तपः कुर्याद यावत तुष्टिकरं भवेत ॥२३३॥
233. yasmin karmaṇyasya kṛte manasaḥ syādalāghavam ,
tasmiṁstāvat tapaḥ kuryād yāvat tuṣṭikaraṁ bhavet.
233. yasmin karmaṇi asya kṛte manasaḥ syāt alāghavam
tasmin tāvat tapaḥ kuryāt yāvat tuṣṭikaram bhavet
233. yasmin karmaṇi asya kṛte manasaḥ alāghavam syāt
tasmin tāvat tapaḥ kuryāt yāvat tuṣṭikaram bhavet
233. In whichever action (karma), after it has been performed, there is a feeling of uneasiness or mental burden, one should then perform penance (tapas) concerning that until a sense of contentment is achieved.
