मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-11, verse-46

अकामतः कृतं पापं वेदाभ्यासेन शुध्यति ।
कामतस्तु कृतं मोहात प्रायश्चित्तैः पृथग्विधैः ॥४६॥
46. akāmataḥ kṛtaṁ pāpaṁ vedābhyāsena śudhyati ,
kāmatastu kṛtaṁ mohāt prāyaścittaiḥ pṛthagvidhaiḥ.

kāmataḥ tu kṛtam mohāt prāyaścittaiḥ pṛthagvidhaiḥ
46. akāmataḥ kṛtam pāpam vedābhyāsena śudhyati

46. A sin committed unintentionally is purified by the study of the Vedas. But a sin committed intentionally out of delusion is (purified) by various penances.
