कल्पयित्वाऽस्य वृत्तिं च रक्षेदेनं समन्ततः ।
राजा हि धर्मषड्भागं तस्मात प्राप्नोति रक्षितात ॥२३॥

A king, having arranged for his (subject's) livelihood and protected him completely, indeed obtains a sixth share of the religious merit (dharma) from that protected person.
