भृत्यानामुपरोधेन यत करोत्यौर्ध्वदेहिकम ।
तद भवत्यसुखौदर्कं जीवतश्च मृतस्य च ॥१०॥

10. bhṛtyānāmuparodhena yat karotyaurdhvadehikam ,
tad bhavatyasukhaudarkaṁ jīvataśca mṛtasya ca.

That post-mortem ritual which one performs by depriving one's dependents becomes sorrowful in its outcome for both the living (jīvataḥ) and the deceased (mṛtasya).
