मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-11, verse-239

महापातकिनश्चैव शेषाश्चाकार्यकारिणः ।
तपसैव सुतप्तेन मुच्यन्ते किल्बिषात ततः ॥२३९॥
239. mahāpātakinaścaiva śeṣāścākāryakāriṇaḥ ,
tapasaiva sutaptena mucyante kilbiṣāt tataḥ.

tapasā eva sutaptena mucyante kilbiṣāt tataḥ

239. Even those who have committed great sins and others who engage in forbidden acts are freed from those transgressions solely by intense spiritual discipline (tapas).
