बृहत्-पाराशर-होरा-शास्त्रम्       bṛhat-pārāśara-horā-śāstram - chapter-46, verse-37

मूलाज्जन्मर्क्षपर्यन्तं गणयेदष्टभिर्भजेत् ।
शेषाद्दशाधीपा ज्न्`एया अष्टौ रव्यादयः क्रमात् ॥३७॥
37. mūlājjanmarkṣaparyantaṃ gaṇayedaṣṭabhirbhajet .
śeṣāddaśādhīpā jn`eyā aṣṭau ravyādayaḥ kramāt.
37. mūlāt janmarkṣaparyantam gaṇayet aṣṭabhiḥ bhajet
śeṣāt daśādhīpāḥ jñeyā aṣṭau ravyādayaḥ kramāt
37. One should count from the Mūla (root asterism) up to the birth star (janmarkṣa) and divide (the count) by eight. From the remainder (obtained), the eight lords of the Daśās, beginning with the Sun, are to be understood in proper sequence (kramāt).
