बृहत्-पाराशर-होरा-शास्त्रम्       bṛhat-pārāśara-horā-śāstram - chapter-46, verse-1

सर्वज्ञोऽसि महर्षे त्वं कृपया दीनवत्सल ।
दशाः कतिविधाः सन्ति तन्मे कथय तत्त्वतः ॥१॥
1. sarvajño'si maharṣe tvaṃ kṛpayā dīnavatsala .
daśāḥ katividhāḥ santi tanme kathaya tattvataḥ.

1. O omniscient great sage, who is compassionate towards the distressed, please tell me precisely how many types of planetary periods (daśās) exist.
