दशाबहुविधास्तासु मुख्या विंशोत्तरी मता ।
कैश्चिदष्टोत्तरी कैश्चित् कथिता षोडशोत्तरी ॥३॥

3. daśābahuvidhāstāsu mukhyā viṃśottarī matā .
kaiścidaṣṭottarī kaiścit kathitā ṣoḍaśottarī.

3. daśāḥ bahuvidhāḥ tāsu mukhyā viṃśottarī matā |
kaiścit aṣṭottarī kaiścit kathitā ṣoḍaśottarī

3. There are many types of planetary periods (daśās). Among these, Viṃśottarī is considered the most important. Some authorities speak of Aṣṭottarī, while others refer to Ṣoḍaśottarī.
