मनु-स्मृतिः       manu-smṛtiḥ - chapter-8, verse-313

यः क्षिप्तो मर्षयत्यार्तैस्तेन स्वर्गे महीयते ।
यस्त्वैश्वर्यान्न क्षमते नरकं तेन गच्छति ॥३१३॥
313. yaḥ kṣipto marṣayatyārtaistena svarge mahīyate ,
yastvaiśvaryānna kṣamate narakaṁ tena gacchati.
313. yaḥ kṣiptaḥ marṣayati ārtaiḥ tena svarge mahīyate
yaḥ tu aiśvaryāt na kṣamate narakam tena gacchati
313. yaḥ ārtaiḥ kṣiptaḥ marṣayati tena svarge mahīyate
yaḥ tu aiśvaryāt na kṣamate tena narakam gacchati
313. He who, having been reproached by the distressed, forgives them, is glorified in heaven (svarga) by that act. But he who, due to power (aiśvarya), does not forgive, goes to hell (naraka) by that act.
