tasya ṣaḍbhāgabhāg rājā samyag bhavati rakṣaṇāt.

Whatever (merit) one accrues by studying, performing Vedic rituals (yajña), giving gifts, or worshipping, the king, by virtue of his protection, rightly receives one-sixth share of that.
