महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-14, verse-185

एष देवो महादेवो जगत्सृष्ट्वा चराचरम् ।
कल्पान्ते चैव सर्वेषां स्मृतिमाक्षिप्य तिष्ठति ॥१८५॥
185. eṣa devo mahādevo jagatsṛṣṭvā carācaram ,
kalpānte caiva sarveṣāṁ smṛtimākṣipya tiṣṭhati.

185. This very deity, the great god (Mahādeva), after creating the entire moving and non-moving world, remains by withdrawing the memory of all (beings) at the end of a cosmic cycle (kalpa).
