महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-136, verse-143

आत्मनश्चपलो नास्ति कुतोऽन्येषां भविष्यति ।
तस्मात्सर्वाणि कार्याणि चपलो हन्त्यसंशयम् ॥१४३॥
143. ātmanaścapalo nāsti kuto'nyeṣāṁ bhaviṣyati ,
tasmātsarvāṇi kāryāṇi capalo hantyasaṁśayam.
143. ātmanaḥ capalaḥ na asti kutaḥ anyeṣām bhaviṣyati
tasmāt sarvāṇi kāryāṇi capalaḥ hanti asaṃśayam
143. capalaḥ ātmanaḥ na asti,
kutaḥ anyeṣām bhaviṣyati? tasmāt,
capalaḥ sarvāṇi kāryāṇi asaṃśayam hanti
143. A fickle person is not even beneficial for themselves (ātman); how, then, can they be beneficial for others? Therefore, a fickle person undoubtedly destroys all undertakings (kāryāṇi).
